Post a random fact about you

    1. I have a lot of tattoos but no piercings not even my ears :XD: I don’t know why I just never wanted piercings as much as I wanted tattoos :chibi

    3. I like to collect beautiful masks from cultures other than my own. (Only ones that are acceptable for outsiders to own, that is.) I have a kitsune mask from Japan, two dance masks of Barong and Rangda from Bali, and a snow lion mask from Bhutan, among others.

    6. I have that problem with Hallmark movies, particularly Christmas. My mom loves watching them but they are so predictable and I always know what will happen and she gets irritated

Before Corona , I did not go out much but now I stay home 99% of the time except when we went to the Uk and Ireland. I just felt more comfortable out of the US. I am torn about moving out of the country but I daydream about it all the time.

    8. I love tea. I usually drink 2 or 3 cups of different hot tea a day. Currently I have ten different teas at home to choose from. They do not get backed up, I really do cycle through and finish them. I would say they mostly have different purposes. :XD:

    13. I love trains - riding them, watching them, looking at locomotives. I love them all - cargo, commuter/public transport or long distance travel, even hanging out near train tracks and walking on them. I've deliberately chosen to live in properties near train tracks because the sound of the rail is very comforting. I've ridden the rail coast to coast in United States and Australia, and one of my bucket list goals is to travel across Europe via train.

ETA (Oct 2025) - I went to Japan and rode the shinkansen bullet train! Another train activity ticked off my bucket list. ^^

    15. @aihre Aww, you've made me nostalgic for the sound of the trains rolling through our little town in northern BC. When it was below -30 C out and icy, they sounded strange, creaking and screeching as they hauled through... I found it comforting to wake to their howls in the night and know they always made it just fine even through the snow.

Random fact... my husband and I share the same birthdate. It results in us being asked to review paperwork almost every time, as they assume we've made a mistake.

    16. @Havra I would love to hear that sound you describe. I now live near a commuter train line (literally a minute's walk to the tracks, I love it), and when I have the windows open and the air is still, I hear the horn and the distant rumble.
And there's this place in my city where the commuter trains run on raised bridges. I remember standing under a bridge once, hearing and feeling a train pass overhead, and almost fancied I heard magic being conjured in the subsonic rumble and vibration. There's something magical in rail, you can't persuade me otherwise.

      .
Random fact ... I once studied at a research institute with 3 Nobel laureates on staff. And though it's not about me, my mother once took undergraduate units with a fellow student who eventually went on to become a Nobel Literature laureate.

    17. @aihre Sounds like the seed of an urban fantasy novel to me. I agree, there is something special to it.

Hm... this is barely about me, but as a teenager I discovered new neighbours shared our same (fairly unusual) surname, and the father's name was only one letter off from my dad's, and the teenage daughter's name began with the same letter as mine. We could find no actual family connection with these people.

    21. I recently started playing The Sims 2 again I love that game sooo much and it’s probably my favorite in the series! I keep trying not to download too much custom content though as when I was a teen I would always download all the goth/emo outfits I could find and it would sometimes crash my game :sweat

I think that game and stardoll was what fully started my interest in BJDs… I loved any sort of dressup game back then:love

    56. I am a very, very big fan of Beetlejuice!

My favorite version of him is the cartoon character. I grew up with him way back in the 90s. To be honest, I don’t know if I saw him as a role model or if I had a crush on him. It was probably a little of both.

I find it amusing that both official (Monster High, Kotobukiya) and fan made (Enchanterium) dolls/figures of him usually portray him as female. I really think it speaks to Beetlejuice’s unique ability to appeal to people of any gender. Beetlejuice can be all things to all people.

Hey, since I typed his name three times, do you think a bjd version of him will manifest in my craft room? (Just kidding… ~_^)

    57. I love Thunderbolt Fantasy. It's a collaboration between Japanese writer Gen Urobuchi and the Taiwanese crew of the wuxia puppet show Pili. Hands down the most entertaining show I've ever watched. I never thought that puppets would be so compelling.

    58. I’ve been playing MTG on and off since the 90s. This game is also what got me into doing art! My favourite colour to play is black (and red) and I collect demon and bat cards which are almost all in decks lol.

I also share a birthday with this game, same day different year. There’s a doll I’ll be receiving on our bday this year and I’m naming her after my favourite commander, Kaalia.

Some years ago I was the first person to post a bat commander deck on the internet. This extremely niche deck went semi-viral and WOTC started printing a lot more (and better) bat cards about a year after. I don’t know if my deck influenced this decision of theirs, but I like to think it did. :XD:

    59. Although I’ve never seen either of the Avatar movies, I think that the designs of the Na’vi characters in general are quite beautiful.

Owning a Na’vi BJD is pretty high up on my wishlist. I’ve seen photos of some floating around on the internet so I know that they do exist, but I don’t know where or how to obtain one. I haven’t done any research on it though. I just see pictures of them occasionally and I always think, “Dang, I really want one of those”.
