Popovy Sisters Glass Eye Magpie, Cuckoo, Little Owl, and Peewit Discussion

Aug 2, 2014

    1. Usually we have dolls in stock. So it takes much less then a month to receive naked unpainted mold.
We expect dolls to arrive from the factory this week.

    2. Your Peewit is stunning lilliput. Congratulations,

    3. lilliput thanks for sharing this lovely photo. I love your Peewit! :aheartbea The eyes you chose are gorgeous too...a lovely match with her eyeshadow.

    4. lilliput I missed your photo! Wow she is just amazing, you are making me even more excited for my Peewit! Congratulations and I can't wait to see more photo's :aheartbea

    5. Thanks everyone for your kind words about my Peewit! I am so happy to have her, she is truly a work of art. Can't wait to see photos of other Popovy dolls in this forum. :)

    6. She's very pretty, Lilliput! I really like the way the Sisters handle their dolls. It seems like they have very high standards both in the quality of their dolls and in how they respond to their customers. I'm still saving! I was happy to hear that they may offer an open eye Blue Jay and Bony.

    7. I made a wig for my Peewit, not sure yet if she will stay a blonde or not. She is so pretty, she'll look good in anything :) [IMG]

    8. Lilliput: She is darling! The wig looks great on her and I love her hat!:aheartbea Her little dog is so cute. What's he made of?

    9. lilliput, you are so right...she would look good in anything, but this wig is beautiful on her! I love her eyes...can you please tell me what size and brand they are? :daisy

    10. she is gorgeous lilliput! i decided not to take a chance with the chistmas mail, but i getting going to order right after new years, as a belated christmas prezzie to myself, i can't wait

    11. She looks beautiful. That blonde hair is such a lovely colour. Love her dog as well :)

    12. Wow, she's gorgeous! Does she have a name yet, Lilliput?

Do people buy these dolls with a character in mind like a lot of people do with the "regular" BJDs? I don't do that anymore because the dolls always seem to have a mind of their own and generally turn out very different from what I imagined. That's a feature, not a bug! But Gloria seems to be more of a blank to me, she's not a character for me (yet? I've had her for 3 or 4 months now). Is that a thing with artists dolls or is it me, and we're just not bonding? I like her a lot but I do notice I'm not handling her as much as I do my other dolls, I'm more afraid to mess her up.

    13. Your girl is so beautiful Lilliput, and that is a great wig. So perfect for her. Congratulations!

    14. Thanks so much everyone, I am really enjoying playing with my doll and I hope someone will post more pictures in this forum. I feel like I am photo spamming here >_<

Stella: she has no name yet. I too had a character in mind when I ordered her but when she arrived she didn't fit what I had in my mind--and that's okay. She is telling me who she is, I guess she wanted to be who she was. I was afraid to handle Peewit at first also and messing up the beautiful makeup but I had to tell myself to get over it. The reason I love BJDs is that they are interactive and if I don't handle her, I won't be able to enjoy her. But I understand the fear, she is the most expensive doll I own.

I tried a new eye/wig combination today. I made these eyes for my sculptures a while back, it's so funny that they fit her. I think I will make some in other colors for Peewit. I have more photos in my Flickr but here is one from this morning.

    15. Wow, beautiful, these colours really suit her!

    16. Hi people, i'm in the middle of re-stringing Magpie, long story anyway. I wonder is someone interested in a re-stringing tutorial? I've started just today to re-string magpie so would be an hassle to take some piccies along, at least i guess.
      Let me know :)

    17. $abbatha - I hope I never have to restring my Popovy dolls, that would terrify me! But I'd be really interested to see how you do it. :daisy

    18. I would love to see how you restring your Magpie.

    19. Would love to see that, too. And does anybody have size comparison pics with other bjds?

    20. Thanks for the feedback people :3nodding:
I will make this tutorial as soon as possible, today i've string her back using some new strings cause the one i've used i guess was two years ago were streched and useless, but i will try again using some more thick string and i will make a tutorial.
Basicly Popovy dolls came with no hooks for hands and feet, so remove hands and feet it's almost impossible unless you want to remove the whole stringing. More over the metal loop inside their head it's made to not be removed as well. I've finally found some tiny hooks that fits into forearms and ankles and also i've used an iron S hook to help the removing of the head. Using pull stringer is impossible cause PD are very tiny and full or resin, so sockets for strings are very narrow, i used a ribbon to drive the strings into the sockets.
Now Magpie is not sturdy as she was in the start, but i can remove easily hands, feet and head, which at present is enough for me.

Merrijane glad to read you back, how are you doing hun?

    21. $abbatha - I'm fine thank you! :daisy
My goodness, stringing a Popovy doll sounds quite tricky. I'll look forward to your tutorial...thanks for sharing!

My first glass-eyed girl! Quick box opening pic of Royal Peewit. :daisy

    36. Everyone's new Popovy's are stunning, congratulations... after 3 years of ummmming and ahhhhhhing about which girl to go for I finally ordered Blue-Jay, so she will be off topic to post pics... but hey ho. She was my first love but I kept getting side tracked by new faces then went back to her again.... never let it be said that I rush into things ;)

    37. Hello all,
I've been reading all the pages of this thread, saw beautiful photos, etc :aheartbea
but did not find an answer to my problem : I am to order a Little Owl wih open eyes, make up etc. However, Igor told me in two different emails he was sending me the order forme as well as prices "attached" but .. nothing was attached. Did some of you had same problem or is it only me ?

To read you and look at the photos made me feel sooo good ! thank you !:daisy

    38. So stunning! Congrats!

Don't worry! The same thing happened to me. Just remind him again that the attachment was not included. Igor is the husband of one of the sisters and handles the sales dept for them. I would imagine he has a ton of emails and invoices to read and prepare.

      Hang in there:)

      She is crazy beautiful!!

    39. Thank you John!

    40. Thanks a lot John !
Igor has finally sent me the order form and prices list, he is very sweet and patient :aheartbea
I had plane to buy tons of shoes, wigs, lingerie etc. but will finally have to get my Little Owl nearly nude :...( just with some light lingerie and a pearls necklace so she wil have at least something from the Sisters.
I am in love with the sofas, but.. may be next year ?
Congratulations to all of you who have been more patient than me to save enough money to buy more !

I am wondering if the Sybarite's wigs could be used on the Sisters' ? i have a brand new one made by an artist few years ago which I never used cause I do not have any of those dolls, but like what some artists create for them. Does any one here as the two dolls to compare the size of their head ?
      Thanks a lot :)

    41. as far as i'm concerned feel free to spam. it helps me since i have another month before i can put in my order...

    42. Please spam, your girl is gorgeous.... I wish more people would spam, it takes the edge of waiting! I know I will be sharing my girl here often when she arrives ^_^

    43. Absolutely! I couldn't agree more Terri and they pose (and hold their poses) better than any other doll I own. Great to see more photos of your lovely girl. I'm so happy for you! :daisy

    44. Sadly PD are very small, more over if the wig has an hard cape i fear that would not fits onto a different shape of head cause was shaped to fits exactly onto sybarite heads, hope it helps.

I'm working onto my handmade wigs, if someone is interested i will post some piccies :3nodding:

    45. There is no such thing as enough Popovy spam. The more pics, the merrir :D

$abbatha - Yes, please do show us your wigs. I always love seeing what lovely wigs people make for their dolls.

    46. Glad to see that you enjoy Popovy dolls!!
      Thank you for your love.
Yes, sometimes I forgot to attach files to letters, so please remind me :) Thank you for understanding :)

    47. Thanks Sabatha, what a shame, Patt Art wigs are so beautiful. Well, will have to sell it to offer the rigt size one to my little Owl ..
Oh yes I would be very interested to see your own creations, please do show us some photos :)

Igor you'r totally forgiven, you react so fast to our demands, you'r just GREAT ! :)

    48. It's so nice to see more pictures in this thread, they are all so lovely! Here is my Peewit. I made another wig for her and a pair of blue/green eyes.

    49. She is absolutely beautiful. Nice eyes.

    50. I'm loving the photos!!! :)

    51. Love seeing the most recently received PDs. Have started to order Little Owl at least 3 or 4 times and keep getting side-tracked. Am now thinking to wait until after the New Year when the mail is running better. Am so lazy. Would have ordered weeks ago if I could have used Paypal. Just hate going to the bank.
Lilliput, your Peewit is beautiful. The cream colored lace is perfect with her complexion and hair color. :daisy

    52. love that wig/eye combo lilliput!

    53. I hope you can order your girl soon jilllamyre. It is a bit of pain going to the bank for the transfer, but it goes pretty smoothly with the information Igor provides.

On another note, I find it amazing how beautifully painted the Popovy dolls' lucious lips and teeth are. I can't stop looking at them.

    54. Lilliput, your Peewit is like a little chameleon and she looks wonderful in each different look. When I ordered my glass-eyed girl, I thought it might be fun to swap the eyes and change up her look from time to time. But after seeing how tiny the eyes are and how perfectly placed, I now think I'd never be brave enough to fiddle with them! :daisy

    55. Thanks for the interest about my handmade wigs people, i will post some piccies and i've not forget about re-stringing tutorial.
I'm planning to make more wigs but dampness of this last week doesn't make things easy :|
I'm also planning to mod a little eyes of magpie cause to me are too small, let's see.

I'm sad about the different sizes Abell..maybe before get rid of your wig you could wait the arrival of your popovy to see the fitting..:sweat

    56. Thanks everyone for complementing my Peewit! I've been having so much fun changing her looks.
Merrijane: the eyes are easy to change, just takes a little fiddling but it's so rewarding because they really change how she looks. I'll be making more eyes in different colors, they are so very tiny :)
$abbatha: it'd be great to see a re-stringing tutorial, thanks for doing that!

    57. Lilliput i need to re-string again Magpie in the netx few days, this time i will take some piccies to show you. I hope will be useful for someone :3nodding:

    58. I love the wigs you've made for your girl! She looks beautiful in every wig/eye combination! I'm so impressed that you can change those little eyes so easily - and even make your own! Are your wigs hard caps? Like you, I love to play with and handle my dolls - it's what makes them so much fun. I love the quality of the Popovy resin and the way they can pose. Tutorials are always most welcome!!

    59. Hi Julie, I just realized who you were. :o) We have met a several doll conventions, most recently Austin BJDC. Nice to see you.
