Popovy Sisters Glass Eye Magpie, Cuckoo, Little Owl, and Peewit Discussion

Aug 2, 2014

    1. Do any Popovy owners have suggestions for making payment? I'm having some difficulty as my credit union in the USA will not allow me to transfer internationally, and Western Union isn't working either for some reason. I've reached out to a Russian friend of mine to see if she'd be willing to allow me to pay her via paypal, and in turn for her to transfer the money by bank. If that doesn't work out, I'm not sure what else to do! Any advice from prior experience would be very helpful.

    2. I've just paid for my Landy last week ! I don't know if it exists in the US but here in France I had to do a SWIFT money transfer via my bank to them. I think there are some websites that can work as a third party for the SWIFT transfer but that means more fees I guess =/

      • x 1
    3. @tuneful87 : In my case I paid per SWIFT-payment through my bank, it took 5 working days but it worked well.
You do have PayPal yourself, don't you? You can pay per PayPal to Popovy Sisters directly, without involving your friend in Russia. Popovy accept PayPal too (please ask their agent Igor per email for it), but it costs you appr. 2% additional fee.

    4. @Sept & @nufa As far as I can tell my credit union does not have a SWIFT number but I will call tomorrow to confirm. I did ask regarding paypal and offered to pay the fees but was told this is not a possibility.

    5. Not each bank offers to do SWIFT payments, but if not, they usually have their cooperation partner, which do. So your bank would be probably able to fullfill the payment via their partner. Just ask for it.
SWIFT is a payment where you have to fill in the SWIFT information of the receiver, not yours.
Sorry, I don't understand what do you mean exactly, whom you have asked and what.

    6. Same here, I asked to pay via paypal and Igor told me they didn't accept this mean of payment because it had too much fees.

    7. As I had to pay in 2016, it was possible for pay per PayPal, but with extra fees, that's why I used another method.
You have asked for experience and I have just given mine.
What counts is not an experience of other users, but your individual case. There are too many limitations I can not imagine why they didn't work. That's why I am out if the diskussion. Please ask Igor directly about your individual case.

    8. Hello everyone! Has anyone here tried adding small hooks on the hands and feet when restringing their popovy?
If yes, did it work or did it compromise the stability of the doll?

One of my friends gave me his popovy girl for restringing, and I am really scared, not only because of how tight she is and how narrow her channels are, but also for the way she is strung with the string passing directly through the bar of the feet.

Normally I don't think she needs restringing at all at this point, but my friend wants me to replace her heel feet for ballet feet, and I don't see any other way around it.

    9. @Wabbie-chan I have no experience with this, but I hope someone can help you!

I just got off the phone with my bank...they can do a wire transfer for a fee and it will need to be done in person at the bank. But I think this will work!

Does anyone have recommendations on their favorite sculpts - faces, bodies, feet, hands, etc? I'm mostly set on Little Owl in Body II Neck with heel feet, in colors ivory, pearl grey, and chocolate. I adore Blue Jay face, but prefer glass eyes.

    10. I went with a Little Owl, Body III with ballet feet, and magnetic hands from Body II, but they're all so stunning it's hard to choose! I spent a *long* time looking at each sculpt but just couldn't get past Little Owl's sweet face. Maybe some day I'll get her a Peewit sister (dreaming)

    11. @HelloJaska She sounds very pretty. I'd love to see her! How do you like the magnetic hands? That must be so convenient.

You're very right...they're all stunning which makes it even harder to choose. Little Owl is my favorite face for sure, but I thought maybe for some variety I should get Peewit in chocolate and LandY in ivory....I've never had a doll with teeth before so that would be interesting. But I can imagine Little Owl would be quite pretty in chocolate as well...I have yet to see a photo of one.

    12. @tuneful87 I actually haven't received her from the Sisters yet (I should have specified that), but I'll post lots of pictures once she arrives and report back on the hands. A Little Owl or Peewit in Chocolate would be gorgeous!

    13. @HelloJaska Ah, I see! What skin color did you order? I'm hoping to place my order by the end of the month.

    14. @tuneful87 I chose Ivory with faceup and blushing (the little details in their painting just kill me). That's so exciting!

    15. Do Popovy take layaways?
Sorry if it's been asked before.

    16. But how? Is it by contacting them by mail? Also, how long a layaway do they do?
Sorry again if this has been asked. I'm just trying to wrap my brain around how to get my hands on one. I love them so so much <3

    17. Yes, you'll need to write them...length of time may depend. I was told there is an extra percentage fee for layaway, though I never found out how much.

I'm ready to place my order for several Popovy....it took me many weeks to decide on sculpts and colors! I'm planning to visit my bank this week to make the wire transfer. Crossing my fingers!

    18. My order has finally been placed! I'm so excited.

Does anyone know the circumference at the base of Popovy's neck? I have an idea for a necklace but I want to make sure I have the right measurements.

    19. Mine is 5 and 1/2 cm or 2 and 1/4 inches

      • x 1
    20. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! Do you happen to have wrist circumference as well by any chance? I might just do a matching bracelet.

    21. You are welcome. The wrist is 3 and 1/2 cm or 1 and 3/8 inches.

    22. You're a saint, thank you!

    23. Is there a list of measurements somewhere for these dolls? Can't find anywhere! Thanks

      • x 1
    24. Hi does any one know the approximate shoe measurement of a popovy doll? Thanks

    25. I just received confirmation this morning that my Popovy are on their way. When they arrive, I plan to fully measure them and will provide a visual with measurements. However it may take a few weeks, as they are being shipped from Russia to the USA.

    26. thank you

    27. She is home ! (and going to a faceup artist tomorrow)

She's my first Popovy and I've got to say I'm impressed by the quality... She's just perfect *_*

    28. @Sept : Congratulations on your first Popovy. ^^

    29. @Sept : congrats on the new girl, she looks beautiful. I'm curious how much mobility does the split torso provide?

    30. Thank you so much! That would be absolutely wonderful. I'm a few months away from getting my Popovy and I can't wait to start making things for her. Getting measurements before she arrives would be fabulous. <3

    31. Well I can't compare it to the other bodies, but it does add a little more mobility than what I've seen on my other 2 parts torso non-Popovy dolls.
But it mainly makes mouvements/poses more gracious than simple torsos.

    32. That's exciting! Which doll/skin tone did you order? Do you have a link to your work? I'd love to see what you sew!

My Popovy arrived this week. I've been feeling a bit under the weather, but I hope to fully measure this weekend for you. Do you have a preference for measurements - cm or inches?

    33. Ahh you're my hero! No preference on measurement and no rush. I hope you feel better!

I'm waiting on a painted Little Owl in Ivory. I haven't sewn any doll clothes yet, but I post various sewing, embroidery and costuming projects on my Instagram here (along with a few too many selfies): Jess (@hellojaska) โ€ข Instagram photos and videos
I'm really looking forward to making all sorts of tiny, intricate things for her :love

    34. I've just got the most amazing present in my life from one very special person!
The one and only LandY Rat in pearl grey!!!
My SO couldn't wait for her to arrive and showed me order papers. And it's insane!
I'm honestly freaking out, because I cannot believe that it's happening. My Holy Grail and hands down the most stunning peace of art will be here in just a few months!... *waiting and holding my breath*

    35. Cool! I'm the_alien_experience on instagram...just posted my first popovy photo last week when my quintuple arrived. Sorry for the delay on measurements. Here you go. I hope everything is close enough!

Congrats, the pearl grey is really lovely in person.

    37. You're very welcome.

Does anyone know if Fantasy Doll stands fit Popovy well?

    38. Hi. I'm sorry, but could I ask if the ordering process of these dolls is the same as what it was at the start of this thread where you could email the artist himself?

    39. @wonsunjin : Popovy Sisters have an agent, you write an email to him and ask your questions, he will tell you all the things you need to know to order the doll. ^^

    40. I believe so, though it may not be as straightforward. I emailed them nearly a year ago about ordering information and was told to 'stay tuned'. Needles to say, I'm still waiting to hear from them.

    41. I was always replied by their agent Igor and he is really quite helpful in all questions I have asked him. He is also on DoA.
If the reply doesn't come on the same day, it could just mean they are on the exhibition or another event, just wait or try again.
@Hugo : I am sorry to hear you haven't received your reply, but does it mean you haven't tried to ask them again? "stay tuned" - sounds like you have probably subscribed their blog and not really sent them an email? Just send an email.

    42. Thank you Nufa. I emailed them a couple of times about price and ordering information of their Landy sculpt after the first pictures of her back in May 2017, and this is the response I got: "-not yet, but very very soon, stay tuned ". I waited a few months and checked regularly for information on their blog, facebook page and instagram but never saw anything that indicated they were taking orders. Eventually I thought the Little Owl I already had was enough and the money went elsewhere. If someone wants to buy something from you, I think you would keep them in mind and let them know in due time.

    43. @Hugo : Thank you. I see. Yes, you are right. That's a pity.

    44. I actually emailed them yesterday and got a reply right away. Perhaps try emailing them again.

    45. Hi !
Could some one here give me the lengh and the width of the flat feet ? also, which year Little Owl came into this world ?
      Thanks a lot :)

    46. My Little Owl arrived yesterday and she's exceeded every expectation. Everything about her is utterly divine :love

@nufa @tuneful87 I've only had the magnetic hands for a day, but they feel incredibly secure so far. I'm very happy with them!

    48. @HelloJaska : Congratulations on your beautiful Owl.
Thank you very much for the information about magnetic hands. ^^

      @tuneful87 : Nice outfit and wig. ^^
The perfect eyes size for Popovy is: eye ball: 8 mm, iris: 2,7 mm, pupil: 1,2 mm.

    49. She's gorgeous! Beautiful outfit :love

    50. Thank you both! I can't find any eyes that looks just right, so I guess I will wait for my eyes to arrive directly from Popovy.

    51. Daphne looks beautiful! I love white hair and tan skin.

Also, if it helps, there is at least one Etsy seller who makes eyes specifically for Popovy dolls. Here is the link:

    52. Hi Friends,
Igor here, sadly I have no time to monitor all questions here and answer in time. So thank you everyone who is here, who already have dolls and answering questions about them.
@Hugo you've probably missed, we've made a huge announcement when Landy was out, if you emailed and I didn't answer it means that your letter either went to spam or didn't cam through at all. sometimes people make a mistake in the email address and we neve receive it :)
      so don't hesitate to email.
      Cheers.
      Igor

    53. My Landy's faceup and blush are finished and she should get back to me soon.. I'm extatic she's gorgeous !

I can't wait to show her here ^^

    54. My little Rat-girl is finally here! Only 6 weeks after ordering)
And she's a real piece of art! I can just end my bjd collection right here right now, because I will never find a doll better crafted and more perfect than she is. Everything is just amazing: the sculpt, the resin, her eyes, even the box is gorgeous. The attention to details is truly breathtaking. And I believe that she will become the most precious thing in my house.
I'm quite lucky to have one wonderful person in my life who picked this little gem for me :whee:

    55. @MidnightBunny
Oh wow she is absolutely gorgeous! Is that the grey resin? - it looks like such a beautiful colour.
Congratulations, you are sooo lucky! :D

    56. @StellaMarigold Thank you on both counts!

@MidnightBunny She's beautiful, congrats. How do you plan to paint and wig her? I was just looking at a LandY in a yellow ombre wig the other day...it was quite a pretty combo.

    58. @Sept Wow, she's gorgeous!

Does the grey skin cost extra?
