Eep! Signing back into this thread--blame Daisy Dayes and Charlie!
Off to get caught up.

 

Goodness, I've been so busy with little scrap booking projects around the house and switching out cameras, but over the weekend we had a small play date and JoAnna wanted to say hi. Her wig is drying out, it needed some spritzing to bring it back to life.

 

JoAnna's swing is awesome!!! (and I'm diggin' the black and white!)

I still need to get pictures of Addie's slimmer ankles, and eventually take pics of the thigh mods, but I'm a liiiiittle bit in the middle of a resin dust headache from this weekend's drilling, LOL! I think for my brain's sake I'll wait to further play mod-job on my own dollies

time to rot my brains with movies instead! huzzah!!!!

 

Meg: Her faceup is beautiful! I love the swing.

Daisy: I'm eager to see your mods 'cause I don't like their ankles but do like their bodies better than some of the other hybrids I've seen... so I plan on fixing her ankles up too when she gets here

 

here's a terrible washed out pic that I had that sort of shows the ankle slimmed, next to the other ankle that wasn't worked on yet



from there I shaped her calf a bit more, and added more curve under her knee, it's all mostly done with a grinder wheel, speed 5 on my dremel tool, and then I polish and smooth everything with a sanding block, and then a magic eraser to finish it

the slimmer ankles look a little funny with the big PD feet, but Addie doesn't wear her PD feet....I can't have a Charlie Chaplin and his big shoes and expect his leading lady to have feet bigger than his! LOL!

for the time being Addie stole feet off of one of my dolls, but eventually I'll be modding her PD feet to be smaller and more delicate too (and to fit some lady-like shoes that I have)

 

Daisy, How well does Addie stand on the smaller feet?

 

She stands perfectly fine on the smaller feet, the shoes she wears even have a slight heal to them, and she can stand, I really owe you guys (and her) some better pictures, will try today! I'm out in the shed working on something impossibly tiny right now though *LOL*

Wonderful photos DaisyDayes, how incredible is your talent. The last photo is so touching. Love the little pup too, so realistic. I get such pleasure from your photoshoots.

 

Meguone, Joanna looks so sweet even without the wig. I love the swing.

Daisy: That is so awesome! Which feet is she "borrowing"?

 

Have you liked a doll, but just doesn't fit in with the rest of them? I really like Renee but I may be rehoming. My girls are on the quiet side. I like meguone's Joanna and that type of look. The quality has greatly improved on these dolls.

Oliveoil, I LOVE that wig on your Renee. May I ask where you got it??? (and I think she looks great in the group, but I'm partial to Renees <g>).

 

Thanks AnitaS! The wig is Erika from Monique. It has been around a long time.

 

Boy, that looks absolutely nothing like the promo photos of that wig (on Facets by Marcia). It is MUCH prettier on Renee than in the facets photos. I never would have guessed. No tight little curls at the front?

 

Meguone: What a great swing and outfit on JoAnna but she looks very angry in the second photo. I think she's mad at you for photographing her without her wig. LOL

Daisy: Great job on the ankles. I love that last photo of Charlie and Addie.

OliveOil: Oh I hope you don't have to rehome your Renee. She's such a pretty girl and looks so nice with your other two. But I do understand about dolls not fitting in or not bonding with you. If that's the case then it's not worth keeping them. Good luck.

 

AnitaS: I did a lot of restyling with it and I have had it for years.

DaisyDayes: Thank you. The swing was a great find on eBay, and I know I've seen them since. I keep it in the livingroom so when any of the little ones come down, they have a place to sit, plus I can take it outside in the garden and it looks good in the main room. With the pictures of your boy, you've inspired me to do more of the black and white with her. I JUST LOVE HIM.

Oliveoil: THank you. These pictures are from my old camera. I just recently brought a brand spanking new one and I CAN FINALLY GET PICTURES WITH REGULAR LIGHT AAAGGGHH, up loads soon and maybe some new pictures of the main doll house. I've also had that feeling of the doll just not bonding with me, or me with it, so don't feel bad, trust me, it happens.
JoAnna's entier look has come from her story/background. She was in an insane asylum for about 7 years, and she has some issues that we are working out That's why she always has that 1000 foot stare LOL

laurmann2000: that's so funny. She had been giving me the evil eye until it got back on her. you can always feel the eyes in the back of your head.

 

meguone: That made me laugh! I love JoAnna's story. My Abigail has issues too, but not like your JoAnna.

Could anyone point me to the link with white and normal Planetdolls (next to each other)?

On the Planetdolls site picture of skin comparison - white looks like paper white but normal looks like ivory white? (I mean this pic: http://planetdoll.com/goods/images/20100326043304cont.jpg)

So does their NS look pale? Or its pinky-beige?

 

PD's normal skin is quite fair. I currently have both a NS and a WS (although my WS has been blushed). The NS Riz is boxed, but when get gets more light out I could check her again.

I have been burning the candle on too many ends, and didn't realize how much I missed this thread. The Mini Riz is so great. Checked back a few pages and just loved seeing everyone's dolls.

My Elethea needs some attention and a new outfit, but she is popping in with an outfit from her "archives" .

I happened on a resale doll the other day, and because of Charlie and Addy, I momentarily lost my senses and pounced on it. But a small knock at the door and a parcel wrapped in plain brown paper was waiting for me. And what did I find when I unwrapped the box, the little girl of my dreams I have always looked for in every doll I buy! I don't know how or why it is THIS doll, but this little girl curled into my hand, tipped her head up to look back at me--and walked into my heart!

I haven't had time to get to know her yet, though I feel I have known her always, but she has spent her arrival cozied up on her bed waiting for me. Today I hope to busy myself getting to know her a bit better and making her her own little space to spend her days in!



and now for a name, first I thought Miriam, Miri for short, but then I like Larke, modern and fun, but nothing is quite right yet.

 

toydogz4 These girls do that. They look at you and wrap themselves around your heart. However, your girl seems much quieter than mine.

Have been going through this thread, slowly bit by bit, so glad that through Charlie I rediscovered this little treasure. So many personalities on here, Joanna I have known for awhile, but Asuka and Richila, so fun to get to know your girls. I want to see more of everyone!

kayjay The answer is yes and no. LOL I ordered a pair of jeans (baggy) and tee and sweatshirt from TTYB for Momoko and the jeans fit as well as the tee, but for the sweatshirt I have to take off her hands as the sleeves are too narrow. Any pants that are fitted will not fit as Riz is bigger in the bottom and waist. So it's a hit or miss with most things.

Oliveoil: LOL, thank you. Yeah, she's got some "deep" rooted issues. I swear I take more time in doing stories than I do in getting pictures done. This past week I was able to get to DDE and buy her a new wig. It FITS LIKE A GLOVE, not as crazy as her yellow one, but IT FITS

sassy: Thank you I wound up pawning my three old cameras, (shame that I've gone through almost five cameras in four years) and bought the new Nikon 100. I've been to busy to put the pictures up, but WOW, even in flash the dolls look great. I've gotten pictures in the last week that I haven't been able to get ever. I'll post as soon as I can

richila: I was scanning Flicrk and came across the new dress. I love the stripes.

laurman2000: your a bad enabler. I've gotten some acid washed jeans and overalls in the mail the last few days and STILL haven't had a chance to take them out of the wrapper. The outfits from TTYB are amazing. The overalls are going to be for my Bambicrony and the jeans for JoAnna course she's been looking at me very odd about the jeans, she's not a jeans girl per-say, but we'll have to see.

 

Yeah, I'm am having a difficult time with clothes and even more so - shoes. Even an outfit that was supposed to be hand sewn for a PD mini doesn't seem to fit right. Most Barbie outfits are to big (and too grown up). Some My Scene fit, but again - not the style I'm looking for. And shoes! Well shoes that fit Hujoo dolls work, but those have to be ordered from China or Korea on Ebay.

I guess I'm just going to have to knuckle down and start sewing again so she has something to wear that she feels comfortable in. *smile*

 

w00t, someone is interested in buying my Pipi so I will have the money to pay off my Renee earlier! w00t w00t, so excited.

Spampy makes wonderful clothes that are a perfect fit, and so does Zozo, maybe we can all convince her to sew for us again?
Shoes--Boneka is coming out soon with size 40X which will fit these girls--yes, fingers crossed there will be boots too. Right now they are available at Let's Play Dolls, and DDE will be getting some in soon. Beautiful shoes and made of soft leather.

toydogz4: THank you. I am loving the new camera , yes, all of JoAnna's clothes for the most part are from our lovely Spampy and Zozo. That's pretty much the only thing she'll wear.

 

Joanna is always lovely! I have had shoe issues with my minis too, but I have some ballet flats that are great. I have to remember where they came from on eBay! I have a pair of tennis shoes I like too, but wow, they are tight.

toydogz4 - Emma, the one on the left, is tan skin. It's darker than in the picture -- that picture almost looks like it was taken with a flash, but it wasn't. I guess the window light was brighter than I thought. The white-skinned girls are hard to photograph.

Oh, also, DDE and Mint on Card both sell 8 mm glass eyes. I have acrylics (two from Glib, one from Planetdoll) in my girls and while I love them IRL, they don't photograph very well.

 

I'm glad I can find 8mm glass eyes. I don't care for acrylics.

Only a few more days until my Renee gets here! I hate that there is no mail on Sunday!
