I've seen a lot of people say they use Pinterest to gather inspiration pics for their dolls, and that's something I do too, so I thought we could have a thread where we share our Pinterest boards. I have a secret board where I pin things I want to buy for my dolls (call it the "I wish I had more money sob" board, haha), and I also have boards for the stories my dolls belong to. I'm a writer and Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration pics. Here's the board for Aramy, who's the doll in my avatar and one of the main characters of my fantasy novel. Actually, funny story, Pinterest is how I first learned about BJDs, since I kept seeing pictures of these beautiful dolls while pinning inspiration pics for the novel. XD
I personally hate Pinterest because it's just a pool of stolen pictures for me that are usually not sourced and that's also a pest to navigate on top :/ It's incredibly hard to source back stuff from others/it irks me to see all my stuff there without any credit given. And people then repost them on Tumblr or whatever with source "Pinterest". Not to mention the whole "you can only scroll through if you have an account with us" thing. I need to make an account so I can see what happened to my own content, nice I'm pretty old-fashioned, I just save pictures on my hard-drive and sort it in folders/tag it there. Considering how little it costs nowadays (both to download and store) it's really not an issue anymore.
I use pinterest and because of this I discovert bjds again and now waiting for my first doll to arrive ^^ but I don't like it so much because many Pics on google shows with pinterest instead of original. I have a "doll" board with random bjds and a board with face-up
I remembered this thread a few days ago and thought it was a cool idea. I made a board for my first doll's character and I'm still working on one for my floating head. I'm not entirely happy with the second one because I'm still working out some character details haha.
I used to make and curate boards for my guys. But I’ve now abandoned it. The fact it would force me to login or would open the app without being told anytime I wanted to look at a pic I had found through a search engine, (and SO many links through Google Images lead to pinterest now. I actively avoid them.) the fact pics I may have deeply associated with a character/scene kept disappearing without warning because of copyright claims, and the fact that over the last year, the number of ads has become insane (One out of every five pins is an advertisement for me at times! I’d get so frustrated sitting there hiding them all hoping it’d get the hint that I’d forget to actually enjoy the other content, like a stupid game of whack-a-mole!) means I’m incredibly disenchanted with the site. I returned to my old system of keeping folders full of photos on my hard drive and never looked back. /rant
Well Pinterest is full of amazing pics of all kinds of dolls around the world, someday, I wanna post some pics there
