Penny’s box Blind boxes

She looks great! I've had luck with Nendoroid type stands from Chibi Chop Shop. You have to assemble them but it's pretty easy and intuitive. They've got this longish flexy arm that can be set up to make room for that tail and still support the doll in the little grippy arms.

Got one of the centaurs in a trade, the head is bigger than what I was expecting but it's a nice doll. I'm tempted to spring for a mermaid as I have some birthday money for a place that sells them. Waffling about getting a dragon too.

 

Hi all! I'm so happy to see that these dolls are on topic on DoA!! I recently fell in love with the mermaid line and today I caved and got two (already opened boxes)!! I'm so excited for them to arrive!

Well I bit the bullet and finally ordered two of the dragon blind boxes! Paid a little extra to get the ones I wanted but hopefully they arrive intact!

I did not know about the dragons before this and now I want two or three of them.

Luckily (or unluckily for my wallet) there's a UK based shop that sells them unboxed so I can pick the ones I actually want.

 

Right? I fell in love the moment I saw them announced and am so happy I can bring my two faves home! I'm still deciding if I want to try customizing them or not lol.

Ahh that's great! While I think it's neat to have them as blind boxes, my wallet can't afford the guesswork so I liked being able to get the ones I wanted.

 

Looks like Penny's Box will be re-releasing the mermaids in altered colours and designs , like they did with the centaurs.

And silhouettes for all the Penny's Box series planned for 2024!! 9 in total including one 1/6 baby series, one either 1/8 or 'mini 1/6' series and what looks like two possibly fashion doll-scaled 'ikemen' and 'bishoujo' 20cm series.

Now this, I'm very excited about. Weirdly, I'd never think "deer" if you asked me my favourite animal, but the second there's any anthro deer/cervitaur/whatever, I'm on board. Can't wait for this!

My little dragons arrived yesterday!



There's some more photos here: SGS TOYBOX including a shot of the damaged horn for Xun Yuan (blue). They weren't detached like some people had issues with, but one of the horns is badly scraped

 

I got one of the centaurs during the anniversary sale on Kikagoods, and I'm very glad I did - this might open up some future issues with the fairyland centaurs, though

She is 100% as she came out of the blind box! The wings are magnetic, and the big bow is just tied on. I am a little confused by the bow, but it looks cute.

Yes, I adore it - I do wish the collar trim allowed it to sit flat like the photos, though it's a bit too bulky.

 

hmmm I wonder if you could steam or iron it flat? or maybe try curling it down with a heated metal chopstick?

 

The tape that the ruffle trim is on is simply too long for the curve that it's on - flattening it would mean overlapping the tape or cutting it :/ but honestly, it's a small issue for a great value doll so I can't complain too much

 

Congrats on her arrival! My wife has all the standard Antu centaurs from Penny's Box and one of the hidden's.
I don't see why they would have any issues with Fairyland centaurs, as Penny's Box is a subdivision of Dollzone and the centaurs are based on the 1/6 resin Dollzone Antu centaur and not the Fairyland RealFee ones


Antu from Dollzone is discontinued, so finding the original release images can be difficult!
Correction edit: Dollzone Antu is so available to order!

And to get back on topic, here are the Penny's Box Dolls in my household:

 

Just a quick little correction for anybody who wants DZ Antu, she isn't discontinued. She's one of their evergreen/always available dolls, you can purchase her via Alice's Collections here. It may be that she launched during an event with other limited dolls, or something like that, but Antu herself is available by any dealer that carries Doll Zone.

Oh haha, I meant I am going to have the issue of not being heavily tempted to buy the RealFee centaurs in the future - they never really piqued my interest before, but this girl may be the gateway!

 

Yeah, Antu is still available it was Hotarubi (the version with bat wings) that was limited. I just put in an order for the resin Antu a month ago. I had so much fun with the pennybox ones I couldn't resist. I always thought centaur dolls looked fun, but didn't realize just how much I would enjoy owning them. There is a certain freedom in having a doll you can just plop down anywhere without fear of them toppling. It's like they have a built in stand with their four legs.

 

Oh my gosh I LOVE those shelves for your dragons! May I ask where you got them?

 

Oh! Now I understand properly, centaurs are certainly fun, and from what I heard the Realfee ones are very good!

Ah, thankee! I got them at a store called "The Depot" which was clearing out everything and they listed a good price for that shelf to take off the wall, no assembly for me! Not sure if it was specifically their own brand or from somewhere else

I'm praying Fairyland re-opens their orders for the realfee centaurs and satyrs. I didn't think they'd just stop selling those parts entirely. TT__TT

 

Hopefully it's more like the pkf hiatus than the realpuki one, but in the meantime...who can pass up $25 centaurs?

My shrimp dragon (the pink one) finally arrived. I am getting such nostalgic vibes off it as it reminds me of my Gaia online days. The aesthetics remind me so much of one of my friend's avatars as the style matches so closely right down to the nitemare wings, snooty expression, and pipe. Normally I buy these dolls to hybrid with my Nendo collection, but this will be the first one I keep with it's base look (minus the dress). I was also pleasantly surprised with just how well they do stand.

I am still really loving those simple changes to the Antu faces - the inset eyes add so much to them.

 

I've been offline a bit... I am so hyped to come back to these deertaurs though! I adore the colour themes, and they kinda remind me of some Super Vision watercolour sets I have. They are so aesthetic! XD I never stop being in love with Penny's Boxes (help! They are taking over!)

Gotta say, I love your tiny shelves!

(I have big Antu as well as all the tiny ones. It feels like she's gonna be their god-king haha)

 

Finally nice to see Penny box upping their game when it comes to the eyes. Now if only they would play around with the mouth a bit. Deertaurs aren't quite my jam, but I imagine I will still likely get one for the body.

 

Exactly what I've been thinking over in the 1/12 thread haha.

It would be nice if they had some more skin tones too (I don't care what; brown, blue, purple, etc), since customising ABS is a lot less forgiving than resin.

Given the way they jointed the waist, I'm disappointed they didn't give the deer bodies a different color than the skin tone.

 

Now that has me wondering if iDye Poly could tint the stuff the bodies are made of... I wanna get one and dye the deer part lightly browned or grey.

 

You can, I've dyed several of mine. They dye just as easily as resin!

OMG i love seeing everyone elses little Blind box dolls i was unsure that we could mention them here i am behind on the rules these days lol
I have about 4 of the centaurs now and a couple of the Kukara Bugs which i am obsessed with.
Also waiting anxiously on the Penny Box Deers have you seen them!! So adorable!
