Peak's Woods Mini Discussion Thread

anyone have a comparison of Peakswoods and Volks NS?? I might wanna put my Dollgru #12 head on the new lolita body from peakswoods! and Dollgru matches Volks xD so either way! some kind of comparison please!

 

DDE has FOB as not available while the bodies are being redesigned. Does any here have more information or know about how long this may take?

 

Hopefully not too long! It's a happy surprise for me, I've always loved Peakswood sculpts but never the bodies. It's exciting, I wonder how they'll improve them!

 

I'm hoping they will do something similar to the improved FOC body. The lolita body is double jointed and lovely. I'd like to see the FOB's on a double jointed body, but I am so awful about waiting

 

That's what I'm hoping for too, oh yus. I love when companies make articulation improvements to their dolls, especially when they look good too. And you're very right, the lolita body is lovely. Plus, it looks like at the very least, the old heads will fit on the new body since they're still selling the heads. That's not too big of an assumption, right?

 

That's what I'm hoping for, too! I love the current head sculpts and think an improved body would be worth waiting for --- even though I hate waiting I may be able to do it for this!

 

Be strong, you can totally do it! Just pretend the update is..shipping rather than a preorder. You just need to wait for the update to ship instead of the long preorder wait. u w u

 

I can't believe this is happening right after I just got my FOB! Oh well LOL. Maybe this means I will have to update her body, or you know just get her a new friend. PW girls are so pretty that I have a feeling one will not be enough.

 

Ooooh, I've always wanted a Lady Bee elf, but I never clicked the order button because I was not convinced about the old FOB body. I really hope they'll update pics of the new body soon!

 

@Dotworkdoll: If anything, it seems like PW would be cool enough to sell the body separately. After all, they're still selling heads on their own, so it's likely they'll just sell the bodies on their own too so people can upgrade.

 

I would be thinking the same thing dotworkdoll if I'd had the $$$ to order when I wanted to. Now we can all search for news updates together

 

After taking Candy out for a fun photo shoot in the park, I've convinced myself I NEED another PW FOB girl this year.... there is something so special about her.... now just to decide who! I'm contemplating wake up Lady Bee or another KoonieS with the gothic make up

That's awesome news. Although I probably won't be able to update my KoonieS for a while, I'm so excited. All of Peak's Woods new bodies are beautiful so far, so I expect the FOB body to be no different.

Candy looks really cute in those pictures, valee.anne. It's hard resisting the temptation of getting another FOB girl. And now that they're even updating the bodies, I really do think I need another one.

Oh, and congrats on your Mori Moth, dotworkdol​! The long blue wig looks stunning on her.

 

In case anyone is curious... I have my little WS Lady Bee on a white skin Doll Chateau body for now. It's not a perfect match (PW is a little pinker--but my head is pretty old), but it's pretty darn close, and the neck size is perfect. Plus, it's very sweet, and she's very posable.

My guess is that the new body will probably be done before the summer, if not before (they are pretty fast about these things). I can't wait!

I have two Volks girls--but both of mine are ancient... like from 2003 and 2004. So the comparison of the resin probably won't be very accurate. They are very, very yellow! I don't think I'll be of much help!

Your KoonieS looks great on a Doll Chateau body, alington! I would have never guessed that the FOB heads would look so nice with Doll Chateau.

I took some pictures of Mona outside today. Her hair was blowing all over the place because of the wind, but she stood just fine. It just has recently started to warm up over here, as you can probably infer from our rather sad looking grass.

 

Everyone's girls are so lovely! And alington, that red wig on your Lady Bee matches perfectly. Thank you for providing the body compatibility with Doll Chateau, too.

Like everyone else, I also hope Peak's Woods offers FOBs for sale again soon.

I think I want to get a better body for my Mori Moth but I'm not sure if it should be the updated FOB body or one of those DC kid bodies. She was a decent but not perfect match to my DC Queena in normal pink skin.

OK--I forgot to update this thread, but at the KBJD Show, I got to talk with Pan (of Peak's Woods), and Kyung Min (her sister and the company owner) is the one that works on all the bodies. She has been having serious problems with her hands. Like--it sounds like arthritic issues. (She looks very young to me, but she's been sculpting for a long time.) I asked about the FoB bodies, too--since I would love some body upgrades--and they had been aiming for the summer of this year, but it's definitely been postponed.

She is working on them, and if she knows you want one, and are waiting for one, POST on the message board. PW fans are very, very quiet. We tend not to post our photos everywhere, unlike some other fan groups. So go ahead and ask. On their board. They still may not know. But ask anyway! It never hurts.

BTW--these two ladies who run the company were the BEST, most NICE women I have ever met. I am trying so hard to go to Dollism (and I'm in southern CA), just so I can meet them in person again! I was expecting them to be sweet. But not like that!!

 

I ask Peakswoods when they will release the new fob body, and they tell me it will be ready for the end of december/january.
I'm so impatient, I want so much a wakeup lady bee !

Has anyone had news on when the FoB body will be released? I'm wondering if I skip and go for the next doll on my list, as I've almost reached my savings goal...

 

Ecmm, I'm not 100%, and you could email them and ask--but I heard it was supposed to be May/June. They are currently discontinuing their line of FoC/AB girls--all the basics--to go to a system like Leekeworld, where they only sell LE dolls. (From what I understand, it should decrease delivery time for them.) From what it looks like, they started first with Dandy boys, and now AB/FoC girls. My guess is that next month or the month after they will re-release the FOB girls (and maybe boys) again. (I'm in big trouble once they release these girls again--I'm dying for a new Mia de Butterfly!)

Snowfrost, I have several PW hybrids, but not too many in normal skin. (DollChateau and DollPamm white is about perfect to PW white, FYI.) From the dolls I have, DollPamm normal skin is a good match to PW, as is Dollmore. Soom is a little darker than PW, but the color is pretty close in hue (I think that's the word, LOL!). PW is retiring all FoC/AB and has already retired all their Dandy boys--and I don't know if we will see them again. I actually used to have another Lady Bee (NS) on a white skin Souldoll body--the original SoulKid size--an older mellowed white body and then a PW NS head (quite old--she was really pale normal skin at the time, ordered through DollHeart, when they were still a PW dealer--perhaps they sent me white by mistake--though she matched a couple other PW normal skin dolls at the time). Ah! Do you know, I think it was your girl that I found when I was searching for hybrid options! Yes it was - I think I ended up looking through your whole Flickr. Yes, ahaha, I've found her again. So do you think the match was only due to the aging of different resins? I think in the end I might place LB at the top of my list and just wait until she is available again. I can be patient!

Thank you for your help~ And gosh your girl is just so gorgeous ahaha. I normally go for the smiley dolls (Mori Moth originally caught my eye!) but I just adore Lady Bee's doe-eyed look. I'm really looking forward to seeing the updated body and what it will be like!

I saw that they're retiring the other dolls. I hope it does end up being LE dolls, rather than they're closing those sizes and stuff forever. I very much love their sculpts and haven't had a chance to get one yet, so I'd hate for them to stop producing one size at a time. Fingers crossed one day I'll bring home my very own Lady Bee!

 

LOL! I do kinda have a lot of photos, I suppose. (It's always a little embarrassing, I have to confess.)

But yes--I think the Souldoll resin matched well because a) the body I had was older, and b) Peak's Woods normal skin used to be quite pale. Unfortunately, I don't have any current Souldoll resin--but the more I experiment, the more I think normal resin would probably match, too. You could ask for a photo comparison in the photo forum, if anyone has it? OR if you can find a dealer who carries both PW and SD, you might get a good response. (I know Denver Doll carries both--you might ask if they happened to have one of each doll in stock.)

Here's another normal skin Soom Rosette and Peak's Woods normal skin comparison--though this is a Naomi head. It looks like a larger (FoB) head might be a little better as far as proportion, but the resin is spot on.

Hey, guys, so I went to the Peakswoods site today after a long while of not going, and noticed that a ton of FOBs were missing! Anyone know if they're coming back?

 

The new FOBs will be released soon~! They announced it on their Facebook page, the first one they showed photos is is Romantic Lady Bee in Lavender-pink skin. It is a lovely color resin!

I am totally broke so I can't get one, but I'm super excited about the new FOB release! I hope the lavender pink resin is something they bring back in the future.

I am hoping to get the Romantic Lady Bee as well Serein. She is really pretty, and that skin tone is amazing. I love that Peakswoods is so great about layaways.

 

How is the resin match between the Peak's Woods white and the Doll Chateau white? There is a hybrid I'm hoping to make with a PW head and a DZ body, both in white, and I'm pretty sure DZ and DC use the same resin. But I could totally be wrong so don't quote me on that.

*edited to add* I'm really excited to see what the new bodies will be like and how they'll be different from the old ones. I sold my Mori Moth but I might just need another FOB.

oh man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the new FoB body looked like a mini version of their lolita body. I'm pretty excited about this summer event, between the pretty lavender-pink resin and that new body.

I love that they've made Romantic versions of their FoB girls! I think my favorite is Romantic Lady Bee but I think Romantic KoonieS is really charming, too!

So pretty!! i actually really like the small bust `w` usually i opt for the bigger size but i really like the demure/younger look on the FoB new body.
So all these pictures say they are split thigh, what does not split thigh look like? i dont even know what this term means o_o!

 

Split thigh simply means that there is a slice across the thigh near the top...this allows the doll to turn her leg (like for that sitting pose we all do sometimes when we're on the floor with our knees forward and our lower legs turned out a little to the side with our feet behind us. Kids often strike this pose when sitting on the floor watching television.) It just gives more posing opportunities and really doesn't look any different as far as leg shape goes. My girls sit a lot, so any extra posing help I can get is a bonus! And I agree, that small bust option is just darling.

does anyone know if PW honors requests to alter the makeup slightly? if i order, i want to get the special makeup for romantic eye, but i dont want her to have those worried eyebrows ><

 

I've strayed away from the FOC thread to squee about the new FOB's. O they are soooo beautiful! And I love the long legs and arms of the Muse body. I really want to get one of these lovelies but I already have 2 dolls on layaway (with Peakswoods- they are taking all of my money ). If I get some dolls sold, I might just get one of these beauties!

 

RoyalBarjack, First time I ordered a doll I asked them a custom makeup and they kindly agree but I don't know for now. But ask them they are really sweet !!

Well I will order a romantic lady bee but I still don't know if I want her in tan or pink lavender. I don't know too which makeup I will choose.
Does anybody have a tan peakswoods doll and tell me how is the quality, if it doesn't turn green, if there is light spot on the tan (like for Fairyland) or if it is regular ?

I know from one of their latest announcements they stated: "*Please don't change a make up or add a make up once your order is confirmed.(Especially, Layaway order included)" I'm not sure if they mean "change" as in requesting altercations to faceups or canceling makeups after adding it to your order, but I would definitely ask.
