Peak's Woods Mini Discussion Thread

Hi everyone, thread newbie here. I'm really interested in Punky Beetle, Mori Moth and a Rabbit Goon boy but as a photographer posing is a huge consideration for me and some of what I've read has put me off a little bit, so I was very happy to see they sell just heads but I was wondering about resin matches - I'm not bothered if its normal or white skin, I'm happy to order whichever I can get a pretty good match for although body-wise my preferences would be Luts or Dollzone as I know both are great posers (and I can get them pretty easily). Thanks in advance for any help

@FrozenRose: there are threads and threads of people asking for PW resin matches... there is some information on that and the poseability of the bodies in the FOC discussion threads, so you should check that out, and maybe do a general search of the topic. I don't own one myself, or I'd compare it to my army of Luts KDFs. I'm going to order a Vampire Hucky in WS this summer, and then I'll take a bunch of comparison shots.

Hi rendroid. It is just a thought, but so many of the PW's boys make nice girls so why not try a girl as a boy? I know Segi started out as a boy, and Punky Beetle and Pop Moth are boys, too. So try one of them maybe? Or maybe one of the girls that you think would be a nice boy. Oh, and I have seen that some people put a FOC head on a FOB body so you could do a Segi as a boy that way. I just got my first PW a Goldie. She is absolutely gorgeous. I would like to get a mini PW, too. Leaning toward a Lady Bee elf version.

Hi everyone. I am really in love with peakswoods koonies but I am a little unsure of there bodys. What do you guys think of there bodys? love or hate? and if hate what bodys do you like better?

I'm in the same situation... I love love love the Lady Bee elf sculpt, but I'm unsure about the bodies. Actually I'm thinking about making a hybrid of a FOB Lady Bee head and a Minifee body. I heard the WS resin matches quite well, but it's quite expensive... $120 for the head and $365 for a MNF body plus shipping for both... ~ $550 . I'm certain that there a quite a few FOB lovers out there who are reluctant to order, because of the bodies. When they were released, the FOB bodies were okay, but now the standards for Minis have raised to another posability level (Fairyland, Luts etc.). I can't understand why Peakswoods are still clinging to their old FOB bodies.

I am a first-time FOB owner as of yesterday. I own/have owned dolls from a great variety of companies (Volks, CP, Angel Region, Custom House, Blue Fairy, Dollmore, Dream of Doll, etc.) and I must say I was impressed with my little FOB's resin quality (nicely matte, not "plasticky" like with some brands) and standing ability. I believe my FOB was made in 2003 and although his posing is a wee bit stiff (and his wrist movement is limited), I am happy with it and his legs are solid when he stands.

Thanks for sharing the picture! I just love the Lady Bee sculpt and I wish I would find the guts to order her . But I only have tiny dolls and I am afraid she might not fit in.

 

Yes, I once had a Luts Kid Delf Aru, but I've sold her because I felt that she was too big for me. I didn't know how to pose her legs and arms properly (maybe she was too loose) and I didn't like the Kid Delf elbow joints.
I'm still hesitating about ordering a Lady Bee, because I'm not too fond of the PW body.

i'm new to world of bjd collecting and i'm in love with the peakswood girls. of my top 20 list i have 5 from peakswood. the two in this category is the mia de butterfly and wake up lady bee. once my 2 layaways from summer promotionals sales are done, my next girl is gonna be a peakswood girl. i just love their faces. i did understand that they are sized similiar to a minifee, correct? my final question is how does their white compare say to a minifee

Saraqael you said you have bought from them off their site and i have a questions if you can. i know they have a layaway policy but i have not been able to figure out how it works. would you anything about that.

 

katana803, Peak's Woods has a link up on their site about how to do lay-away. They are really flexible. In the past, they required a $50 down payment, and that was their minimum, but I'm not seeing this on their site now. (I know your post is a little old, and you might have found the FOF or FOC threads that are a little more active that this one.) They are a terrific company to deal with--and super sweet.

I've done lay-away a lot of times--I have a bunch of PW dolls--and usually, they don't start making the dolls till you're pretty close to paying it off. But you can order limited editions and custom face-ups as well. You name the terms--like $50 down and $50 every two weeks--whatever works for you. And they work with you. They will also pierce ears, if you like. They are awesome!

I don't have a minifee, but I have seen the normal skin of Fairyland to normal skin PW, and FL is a little deeper and creamier. As far as bodies go--I saw they they just updated the tiny body to pose better. In the summer, they also provided a new Absolute Beauty body update. I would bet that there will be an update to the FOB body coming soon as well. (I love how sturdy it is--it can stand right out of the box, and any kickiness can fixed with suede quite easily. My one complaint is that the wrists aren't as flexible as I'd like.)

You should be aware that the normal bust (for girls) is flat. Large isn't large, but fairly small.

I am actually keeping a close eye on the Punky Beetle that is here at the moment, told myself if she is still there on pay day I am going to have her

Bumping this for a possibility of knowing if a minifee body will work with a PW FOB head! Reluctant to get a PW because of the body like most

 

I'm also thinking of doing a hybrid soon (when I have the money ). Did you see this thread?

 

angeldoll, we have a tan Lady Bee, too, and I adore your girl's new top! (I'll have to try a pink wig on her, too--she's super cute!) Where did you find it?

sailor, I have seen that normal skin Angel of Dream bodies are a pretty decent match to normal skin PW dolls--I have seen like three Lady Bee dolls done this way. Also, I had a normal skin PW head on a SoulDoll Soul Kid body--for an interesting look. Not great for resin match, though.

Gorgeous, dollhoarder1! Did you get your girl from dolladdict? I was looking at her, but I have some duplicates in my collection (I have two Wake-Up Goldies) and I really do tend to be a bit of a hoarder, LOL.

 

I once found a picture of a PW FOB with hands from a Minifee. But I can't find that picture again. Do anyone have such a picture or know about one?

Omg, I can't believe the Peakswood's hand would be much bigger than the Fairyland's... Gosh their proportions seems a bit off... wish they could do smth about it... :/

 

You know, elinate, I think PW will probably be updating the FOB body this year sometime. The reason I think this is because last year they added the Absolute Beauty body (which is a double-jointed body) to the large doll line, and also a double-jointed body to the tiny doll line as well. I think the next one in line for revamp is the mini size, FOB. I personally don't feel like their hands are huge--but that's when you have them in person, and compare their hands to their faces and to their feet, or when you compare them to other company's dolls (I have a FL doll on order). I believe PW are a tiny bit shorter than FL, and PW heads are bigger--they wear a 7/8 wig, not a 6/7, so their hands ought to be a bit bigger.

Oh--I just clicked on the link I posted above--and the doll shown is a tiny sized doll (Hucky--who is a Fairy of Fairytales) on a Minoruworld body, not on a Peak's Woods body. It looks weird to me, too.

 

I really hope they'll update the FOB body soon! I'm still hoping to finally own a Lady Bee elf one day .

 

Depending on what other companies you like... I also have a larger Soom/PW hybrid, but she's a larger scale. I don't know how the posing is on the Soom mini sized bodies (I don't know anything about them), but their normal resin to PW normal is usually pretty close. Soom is a tad darker, but not too bad.

 

I have ordered two Peak's Woods, a FoB Wake Up Lady Bee, and a tiny. I'm pondering more girls/boys in the future.

 

alington,I really hope that they would, the last time I've asked them about it, they said that they would be working on the improvement of their FOB bodies.. but up till now still no news, so I hope you are right, cause I really do not like the FOB body at all, it's not really poseable, and her body is a bit huge to fit in many clothes... so cross fingers ><

 

elinate, which clothes are too big? She fits DollHeart perfectly, I think. It's a standard MSD size, from what I can tell--I mean, I have clothing from Volks, too, and it's perfect for size.

Both Lady Bees are adorable! I have Wake Up Lady Bee on order. I had Morimoth once and let her go. I think I have to have one back.

 

I just ordered my KoonieS, and I'm already looking longingly at other Peak's Woods dolls. I'm definitely getting a Mia De Butterfly in the future, and I'm starting to really like Lady Bee. These dolls are too addicting!

I'm waffling between Wake up Lady Bee and Mia De Butterfly. I'm really leaning toward Mia De Butterfly, even though WU LB was my original first choice....I thought looking at some owner pics might help. Advanced thank you 3

 

If it helps--I know that Mia is a brand new sculpt, and Lady Bee (and her wake-up versions) are miniatures of Yeru (and wake-up Yeru). I'll try to take some photos for you today. I think both are really adorable.

 

I did not know that! I'm not sure it makes a diff to me lol My Breakaway is the only one who's getting a mini version that's actually the same sculpt, the others aren't even from the same company. I just really like PW girls and was trying to find a way to work a second one into my group XD

All I know for sure is that I'm going with WS and I want a different body so she can have a larger chest option. My poor Goldie missed out on that as she had to have the Bitten torso...and the "might-as-well-not-have-breasts-at-all" option it came with XDD Poor thing. I figure her mini version could have the figure she's always dreamed of...

And a few more are here, too. And, er, my two cents on the "large bust" option for the little girls--it's a different between flat and little. I believe both girls have the large bust option, and both are pretty small!

 

Man, I wish PW had more MSD Girls. They're so cute! I just received my Lady Bee Elf and Mia de Butterfly, both in normal skin. I love them!!



and yes, the large bust is not very large. Well, I like it better this way. Big boobs would look really off, esp on FoB girls with their large eyes and childish faces

 

I hope to see her soon too! I did scour the interwebs to try and find owner photos of her, but couldn't find any so just trusted my instinct... she is beaaaautiful. Did you order the gothic or normal makeup?

 

I ordered her normal makeup. I thought it'd be a little more versatile style-wise, although I really do like how the gothic makeup looks.
