Peak's Woods Mini Discussion Thread

Jun 15, 2008

    1. Hello everyone.
I just found this thread after buying a Peak's Woods Pop Moth msd doll on a whim from Denver Doll. It was in stock and I just went for it, even though other dolls have been on my want list for a while.
I haven't named him, yet. He'll have to go by the silly name Peak's Woods gave him for now. I also haven't taken many photos of him yet, but here are a couple:

First, he's dressed for his first day of school with a camo shirt and backpack. He's got some hiking boots coming. Sandals will do for now:

Here he is with an off-topic doll (Goodreau's Schemer). Pop Moth is on the right. I added some light freckles to contribute to the boy-next-door look.

    2. Thanks, pumibel! I thought his face looked quite a bit like my Elfdoll Twiggy Yumi, so I bought him to be her little brother. Here is a close-up of the two of them that will have to do for now. I need a 3/4 face photo of them since their most similar features are their chin lines, noses and large eyes.

Oh, and I've finally picked a name for him: He's Paul M. Woods, heehee.

    3. I agree that these dolls are wonderful. I don't have any new photos of my Pop Moth, but here are some full-length pics of him with a Goodreau.

Here is a tighter shot. As you can see, these two are camping buddies!

    4. It's winter and no more camping for a while. Paul (Pop Moth) has a new cold-weather outfit.

    5. Peakswoods girls are absolutely gorgeous! Their faces and their eyes appeals to me.:aheartbea
My first BJD is a Goldie and my second one is a Lady Bee Elf.
She arrived at home on Christmas Eve, less than 3 months after I received the first one!
Although I prefer girls looking more mature (as most of the larger dolls), I am literally seduced by Lady Bee.
Her face is so cute. I adore her big eyes. She looks so romantic ♥

My little elf name is Aëlyn.
Here are two pictures of her, until I open her gallery.

She wears Dollheart dress and shoes on these pictures. Her wig comes from Peakswoods.
Her posing is acceptable but limited.

As I got a second head with normal ears with my girl, I would like to try an hybrid of that Peakwoods head with a MNF active line body to give the new girl a more flexible body.
Does anybody try to hybrid PW Head with MBF Body already?

    6. 96neko : Like you, I would like to try to hybrid a Peakswoods head on a MNF active line body.
I 've compared the doll sizes. As you can see below they have the same girth of neck and similar dimensions.

Here are thePeakswoods FOB dolls detail info :
      Height : 42cm
Length from head to waist : 21cm
Length from waist to feet : 21cm
      Length of sleeves : 16cm
      Girth of head : 18cm (in : 7)
      Girth of neck : 7cm
      Width of shoulders : 8cm
      Girth of chest : 17cm(18)
      Girth of waist : 15cm
      Girth of hip : 20cm
      Length of foot : 5.5cm
      Eyes : 14~16mm

I asked to my french retailer if she think that is possible. She answered me that it is feasible. You just need to remove the screw from the MNF body and replace it by a hook to attach the Peakswood head. But she said that it is not difficult to do.
Regarding the resin color she told me that there are slight diffences (for normal skin) but that can be dimmed with a body blush.
I have other priorities at present time but I think a lot to do it in future.
I don't know if someone else already tried it as PW is not popular as you said, but I would like to see some pictures of the result before starting my project.

    7. Where are all the Peak's Woods doll lovers? We need to enliven this thread!

Paul says he must be in the wilderness all by himself, because no one ever drops by!

    8. Hi Peakswoods doll lovers !

Here is Aëlyn with her new dress...but she doesn't have shoes yet.

    9. the clothes i buy from dollmore and various sellers on etsy/ebay are a little too small most of the time. my punky beetle seems to be a fattie :3

    10. Hi hi~ I'm considering getting a PW Mori Moth, but I'm iffy about getting one because of the posing limitations some of you have mentioned. Can someone please post pictures of PW bodies' posing?

    11. @aiushtha ..... I do not have picture you request since my Bee got Luts body. I thinks Luts is a considerate choice in case you want yours in white skin, the resin pretty match well. A little difference to see by eyes but more clearly via camera lens. But the head are more older than body since it's '06 matching with '10 body.

      Hope this help ^^

ps. I do not have picture but my friend says Lut NS can be match with PK NS too, I think it's a good news. lol

    12. 96neko: That's a pretty doll^_^ somehow I never considered getting her but it's always different seeing real pics. What clothes can she wear?

    13. Thanks, Ariss! ^^

I'm falling in love with her even when she came to me with blank head. PW doll are very awesome!

For your question, since my Bee got Luts body so I think all clothes except ones for slim msd will fit. Actually maybe even slim msd clothes will fit her too but never get my hands on them that I'm not so sure. Luts and Dollmore are best choice in my case. ^^

    14. I'm thinking of getting a Romantic Lady Bee Elf. Does anyone have pics of her? And do the elf ears cause problems when slipping the wig? I have an RS Ju and her elf ears were problematicas the wig couldn't go over them. Can I ask what wig size she takes?

    15. Does anyone know how the peakswood white and dollzone white skins match? i was thinking of making a hybrid, peakswood head with dz girl body.

AND does punky beetle head fit 7/8 wig or do all the msd sized peakswoods fit 6/7?

      thanks! :d

    16. I'll second the Romantic Lady Bee Elf Ariss -- I can't decide between her and Mori Moth but R Lady Bee was the first BJD to really draw me into this hobby -- although I've gone the SD route so far :)

... so RL pics would be helpful!

    17. Well, I've got a normal skin Romantic Lady Bee on lay-away now^^ She'll arrive in roughly 3 months. I promise to post pics then.

But could someone supply some basic information like wig size, type of clothes, shoes?

    18. I look forward to your pics Ariss :D

    19. I hate to ask again but is there some information post about basic information like wig size, type of clothes, shoes for the PW MSDs?

      • x 1
    20. My Lady Bee has shipped! Can't wait to get her^_^

    21. I'm sure I've bored you all by talking about her but she's finally here. Lady Bee Elf - normal skin.

    22. Awww your dolls are adorable, Ariss. :3c

    23. Thanks!^_^

    24. Quick question: can PW MSD girls wear Leekworld shoes?

    25. Ariss : your Lady Bee is gorgeous !
I can't help you about Leekworld shoes, but if this can be usefull to someone, I can say that they wear MSD Dollheart and Monique shoes.

    26. My Lady Bee Aëlyn wears a new wig!

I think that this wig is in perfect harmony with her make-up and suits her pretty well. (In fact she borrowed the wig of the MNF Chloé which belongs to my daughter)

    27. I love her in the Chloe wig, Zabou - very nice!

I sent an email to PW last night since I have questions with my first time ordering from them . It's not being delivered and shows in the mail subsystem it will be retried 5 times. Is it hard to get in touch with customer service there unless you have an order?

I was wanting a special face up on a Lady Bee, and hoping they could tell me if it was possible.

    28. I noticed that the site has two bust sizes for msd I wonder if anyone got a the big bust size if so could you post a photo?

    29. Sorry I can't help you. Mine is the normal/flat chest. I was afraid she wouldn't fit into most MSD size clothes and she really is a bit wider than most.

    30. [IMG]Untitled by ArissT, on Flickr

She's dressed in a GuessDoll outfit. I had to fold the sleeves as they were too long.

    31. I figured I may join here, because I am debating buying a Lady Bee! I am still deciding, as I want her to by my Volks Yui's best friend. I have some Volks MSD/SDC clothes for her friend, but I am afraid they may be too big for Lady Bee..

Does Peakswoods offer layaway? Earlier in the thread.. I also read of people buying through DDE, but I don't see PW on the site? Is it not possible from this site anymore?

    32. PW stopped selling their dolls through retailers. I think I was among the last people who bought up the stock at DDE. It's a shame since buying through DDE was easier than navigating a site like PW.

    33. That's too bad. I'm thinking of ordering a Punky Beetle eventually. I was wondering about that, why I couldn't find them on DDE anymore.

Guess I'll just go direct when it's time to order. ^^

    34. FYI -- PW does do layaway -- it's very easy and they are incredibly nice :)

Just post on their board what you want on layaway and your payment schedule and they'll put a special 'buy now' option in the event section with your name on it where you 'purchase' each month according to your layaway plan until paid

      I'm on my 3rd layaway .... :D

    35. Ooh, thank you for that information. That might be a really good option for me. I like layaway... :D

    36. Did anyone ever try the hybrid of peak's wood head on MNF body?

I'm sad that this thread is so...empty. Peak's woods have lovely faces ^_^ I just wish the heads were a wee bit less expensive >.<

    37. I have a Lady Bee Elf coming home in about 10 days or so, I'm very excited! :)

    38. Congrats Opal! be sure and post pictures ^_^

    39. I purchased a Lady Bee head secondhand on an auction site and had to find her a body. I chose and AoD MSD body and the color match is seamless. Will have to post pictures after I get her a new pair of eyes as I got some 18mm which are too big, no whites showing! Live and learn!

    40. Nissa, my Lady Bee Elf, should be home early next week! :)

    41. I've been looking around a lot, and I've fallen in love with a doll from Peak's Wood. She is really cute and I just adore the pictures of her. However, while searching through company reviews to see about how they are with customer service, or how the dolls seems to pose/does it look like the picture....

      Nothing, for three years!

Does Peak's Wood go by another name I am unaware of, or are they new and no one has purchased from them?

Of course, please move if this is the inappropriate place to post this. :sweat

    42. There is a PeaksWoods feedback thread in the Marketplace. I know because I started it. :)

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?383951-PeaksWoods-Feedback&highlight=PeaksWoods

PeaksWoods is a fantastic company to deal with. They provide excellent customer service. They communicate quickly about orders and questions. They love to get pictures of your dolls. I honestly can't speak highly enough about them. I have several of their dolls and they all stand and pose well. They tend to be on the slim side so they fit well into Doll Heart clothes.

    43. Peaks's Woods has been around since at least 2005 or earlier. (I search for them by doing an advanced title only key word search under peak* wood*) I have only bought a head from them but I know several local people who own a number of their dolls. They are not an "advanced" posing doll but they do basic sitting and standing just fine. Not only do they look like their pictures, I'd say they look even better in person. They really are unique and stunning dolls.

I met the two women that run Peak's Woods when they were convention guests here in SF. They were very nice, almost humble about their work. It made me want to own more of their dolls. I have no knowledge of any customer service issues with them.

      Hope that helps!

    44. their Customer Service really is amazing. They're in my top 3! Ordering for them is easy and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I actually had a problem with my girl's wrist chipping and they handled it very well, and sent me a new arm piece which arrived super-fast! I usually grade companies by how well they deal with problems so they got an A+

I adore my Goldie (she was a dream doll of sorts for me) to death, and oddly enough she's the chunk of my resin group XD
Dollheart clothes yes, clothes made for other dolls, not so much...I was trying to get her in some of my other girls outfits and they didn't come close to fitting her XD
She's got the small bust too, poor thing...short end of both sticks.

As far as posing goes....it's not the best. But I didn't buy her to contort her into acrobatic poses, I bought her cause she's gorgeous and I really really wanted her XD

    45. Saraqael: Wow, what a stunning review! I'm so glad to hear that about them! I'm not really into girl dolls but when I saw her face... I was just so taken! I'll be sure to check out your Marketplace post! I tried using the search feature of it, but... I know my inadequacy at using it, hahaha. I try and avoid it at all costs. And I'll take a look at the gallery, too!

idrisfynn: Oh, I would love to of met them! It sounds like they are really pleasant people to deal with. I also love it when dolls amaze me when I take them out. I was a little disappointed with some tanned Dollmore dolls I got, but my Luts boy was absolutely stunning. You're getting me excited about this one!

VampireAngel13: Hm, Dollheart clothes are beautiful... luckily I have three MSDs so I'll be able to see how well she fits their clothes. I can't tell but she looks so petite! I'm glad to hear about customer service, too. That is the part that always worries me.

Thank you so far for all your help!

    46. My Lady Bee elf, Nissa, is home, yay! She's lovely, with the cutest little pointy ears! We're still trying to find her look, I think I'll have to make something for her, esp at Christmas time. No, she's not a complex poser, but for basic sitting and standing, she does just fine. :) All my dolls just sit most of the time anyway.

    47. Congrats Opal, please take a photo of her as soon as you can, I am really excited to see her! Which skintone did you get? And how long did you have to wait for her?

Have you seen the tan version? She's gorgeous :aheartbea

    48. My girl is ws and I traded for her in the market place. I've never ordered directly from Peakswoods. :) I'll try to get pics of her this weekend. I need to make her something all her own to wear.

    49. Enjoy getting to know her this weekend and making something. I've got a day to myself tomorrow as my hubby and son are off to a music festival (my son's first ever!) so I'm having a dolly day myself :)

    50. Not sure how much sewing I'll get done, one of the dogglemonsters needs a bath, but I'll try to get a picture. I will at least go thru patterns and fabric. :)

    51. I am currently looking into remolding my KDF Aru into a Lady Bee <3 Not sure about the body though.. Ive been spoiled with LTF posing.

Does anyone know if fairyland normal resin matches peaks woods normal resin? or what companies they do match? :D

    52. Hm, reading all of these kind of makes me wonder if I should just get a Lady Bee head and then a different body....

    53. If the MSD is like the SD girls, the resin does not match, PW is very light in the NS and fairyland is
      more yellow, mine are anyway.

    54. hi i was wondering if volks white skin would match with the pw white skin? i gonna order the romantic lady bee elf head in white skin.

    55. Boy this thread is kind of dead. Well I would like some lady bee spam if possible. I'm picking up a girl at a convention next week and was hoping for a little more enabling for me. Even though I've already agreed. She's very sweet. :)

    56. I've got a Romantic Lady Bee Elf that I just adore. She is probably my favorite out of all my dollies... she's just got the sweetest face. (:

      Well...you can't see her "sweet little face" but there's a teaser (:

    57. That's a cute pic! She looks almost in scale for that building.

    58. Anyone else for pic spam? Just a few more days and I'll be able to pick my girl up at a meetup. :)
