Peak's Wood - Dandy Boys

Submitted my first payment for the Dandy body today! I almost went for Vampire Troy to give my human Troy an option head, but ahh decided I don't really use the option heads I already have. So simple order it is. Anyone know how well Peak's Woods white holds up over time? I currently have my head in a sealed box, but ideally I'd like to send it out for faceup soon and I want to know if I should expect a big color different the artist can maybe correct

 

The easiest way is to wait with face-up until you will get the body. If the color difference will be significant you could mail to the artist the head and for example hands. And the artist will be able to correct the color.
From the other side when you get some new resin part they always look "more fresh" then the old ones. But in 90% case this difference is disappearing in one year.

 

Well yes I know resin will change in time no matter what, but I want to know how stable Peak's Woods is specifically. For instance my Little Monica batches are wildly different (poor aging) but I have three years between a switch head and body and there was no noticeable difference at all. So I want to know what Peak's Woods white is like in that regard I know sending a piece with the head is ideal but I'm not asking about color match techniques, just about resin color stability.

 

Hi guys! Is anyone else ordering a Dandy during this event? I'm really excited about the Emerald Green resin and am waffling between green vampire Gio Blue and a green Keith the beast. At first I was settled on the Gio because I fell in love with the sculpt a few months ago but now I'm not so sure if I prefer the normal open-eyed Gio or the dreamy Gio...I really want a vampire but I'm afraid the half closed eyes will make him look too derpy. And now the beast Keith is calling to me aswell, he would make an amazing "human" Orc character in that green resin and those teeth.
Also, I can't decide between the normal 61cm Dandy body and the 67cm body, does anyone own both and can tell me if the smaller one is harder to pose? I prefer the looks of the taller body but maybe Keith or Gio would be too pin-headed on it? I hope somebody can help me in these decisions, there isn't much time left in this event.

 

During the spring order I spent hours trying to choose between Girl Tristan or girl Rosemii. But I ended with Dandy Keith the Beast. It says a lot about Keith.

To be honest for me the whole dandy heads except Gio are too small for 67 body. I mean not the head circumference but tiny thin and fragile face parts of heads. Thin lips, tiny sharp noses ets.

 

Thank you so much for your help @916mvk, that really confirmed my suspicion about the heads. In most pictures they look okay on the taller body but sometimes you see the thick neck and those delicate facial features and just think "hmm...maybe not". Also, I already own a few 70+cm boys and I get really frustrated with their size sometimes. Granted, two of them are horrible, horrible Dollshe boys but still. I just wanted to announce that I finally placed my order today and I am now on a long 6 month-layaway for a 61cm Vampire Gio Blue boy in Emerald Green! I waffled sooo much in this order and just couldn't decide between sculpts, bodies or even sexes lol, but in the end I went with my initial thought. I think you should always go with your gut instinct even though I've broken that rule a thousand times with doll orders lol.
Oh and the beast Keith ALMOST got me but he will definitely remain on the wishlist for a future order! Peakswoods got me really good....

 

I love peakswoods unique skin tones soo much! I follow a bunch of people who own them. I wish I was more interested in the ones that are coming out this halloween. They're so pretty so I cant wait to see peoples photos of them!!

 

Congrats!! I want a Vampire Gio Blue some day!! I have a Gio Blue and he's gorgeous! I'm adore his face! and the Emerald Green is a fantastic color skin, my Kassio have that color!
This time I placed my order a Vampire Tristan 61cm in lavander pink! I'm super happy because I wanted that boy since last year but the lavander color skin was not avalable, but patience is part of this hobbie hehehe

 

Congrats to everyone on their new boys!! This was a real tough round - so many beauties to choose from. I ordered a green Vampire Seize in the Vampire Gio Blue faceup. I almost died when I first saw him and knew I had to have him. I anguished over whether to get a Knox the Monster in green or a Vampire Mona but I wound up choosing Vampire Mona in green. She and Seize will be brother and sister. I am really excited and I can’t wait to see everone’s when they start rollin in months from now. It is a long wait but so well worth it.

I also love the Lavender Pink and was really tempted to get a girl in that colour, but I already have a pink doll and a purple doll lol so I thought I'd try something new. Did you pay in full or did a layaway? I just paid the second payment, only 4 months to go....
And congrats to you for this fantastic order @caddyvamp!! They sound wonderful, I was very close to ordering a boy and a girl aswell, they will look great together! Peakswoods has really brought my love for dolls back this year, I spent most of last year being annoyed with my dolls and THEIR STUFF (All those boxes...) but now I'm really happy about them again. It gets overwhelming having more than 40 dolls, especially if you don't have a lot of space. So be careful, guys!

I want them both!!! I already have a Monster Knox in Emerald Green on layaway. I love Laska’s nose though! I’m probably getting him, and I’ll get a peakswoods girl some other time . If I do get him he will be in Savanna Brown, that color is so pretty!

I think there are some pictures of him earlier in the thread. I’m also deciding between some other dolls. I’m waiting a little longer for more companies to announce new dolls and winter events.

 

Love those PW Beasty Dandy Boys: Keith and Laska. Laska is now tempting me, but as I am recovering from having just bought a bunch of dolls, I probably won't be able to click the buy button.

 

I was surprised this week to get my shipping notice from Peaks Woods that my Dandy Boy Gio is on his way. This doll took 5 months to make and I gave up looking for him. My other PW dolls shipped in about 3-4 mos. But, nonetheless, I am thrilled to have him coming home during the Holidays. Couldn't be a nicer gift. I ordered a purple suit for him from Sadol and am excited to see him dressed up funky. I thought it was time to get a boy....just to be different. I recently sold a lot of vinyl dolls on ebay while they still had some value BUT it looks like I'm going BJDs all the way. I've collected for 20 yrs now and feel this was my evolution with dolls. I also like the little ones. Fun to carry around and sew for. I wish my Flickr account worked --I've tried to cancel it and re-register to no avail. Otherwise I cannot share Gio's pic when he lands.

 

Hello everyone, I've just joined DoA being very thirsty for PW. Maybe I am looking at the wrong places, but somehow I don't seem to find many people of the community. Where are all the Dandy Boys fans hinding? Well this thread has being stopped for 4 months which is not a good sign, but I am grateful it exists.
I will try and post pictures myself once I can get stuff figured out. Technology is obviously not my thing.
I wish PW would resale old versions of Dandy Boys. Keith, Gio, Kasspio are too cute!

 

@ChocoFactory they do re-release them fairly often. At their last event you could choose a lot of different Dandy heads; both Keith, Gio and Kasspio were offered. I'm sure you will be able to buy them again at future events

Hi guys i jointed the thread while i wait for my boy i just put on layaway, it will be my first resin boy so i'm lost at where to find clothes and shoes that will fit, i ordered the 61 cms body, i just saw a volks outfit i Like (pants and shirt) and they both come in 2 sizes, one says it fits sd13b, sd16b, sd17b, and the smaller size says it fits sd, sdb, sd13 and sdgr, i just don't want them to be too baggy or too tight, any help would be much appreciated ^^

@Misaki84 I haven’t had much trouble finding clothes for my boy, but you can’t be super fussy about perfect fit because Dandy boys are skinnier than most SD boys. It’s a double edged sword though—they’re also pretty versatile and can squeeze into a lot of sizes because of it.

My guy has a lot of Taobao/Alice’s Collection stuff bc I like the aesthetic but it can be a little baggy on him. The best fit for pants I’ve found so far is Nine9Style SD boy pants, most other pants are a little loose. I find SD boy shirts from places like Nine9 and Tree Design fit the best, and there is a lot of girls’ clothing that fits them very well. (SD16 dresses fit well, if you were wondering.) I think the outfit you linked will fit because it looks like it’s not meant to be skin tight anyway and it’s aimed to also fit Volks girls like in the picture.

SD/SD13/SDGrG Volks dresses also fit, just don’t get anything that really emphasizes cleavage he doesn’t have.

For boy shoes, whatever the generic SD/SD13 size is on a site is usually doable. None of the boots I’ve found fit perfectly but once they’re strapped on it doesn’t matter (just makes his feet look a little bigger). I do have one pair of SD13 loafers from Freedomteller that do fit his feet perfectly, but he definitely doesn’t fit that weird all-sizes thing Volks does with their boy shoes.

He’s got big feet for lady shoes, plus he can’t point his toes so heels are a challenge. For flat shoes, Volks brand SD/SD13 girl shoes do fit, but I’ve found that generic brands for that size are just a touch too small even if someone tells me they fit their Volks girls, so they’re riskier. Rrabbit makes some heels that are made to fit boys up to SD17 size that fit well though and they’ve been a lifesaver.

I've never had a problem with Volks SD13 sizes myself. Some parts are slightly too snug, but it's usually fine if you don't buy really form fitting clothes.

I just want to ask, is there a physical difference between FOC Tristan(8cm) and FOC Dandy Tristan(10cm) aside from the neck measurements? Is the foc dandy tristan more masculine or what?

 

In short:

In the FOC line you can find only female dolls while in the FOC dandy line there are only male ones.

 

@TwilightDarling - The sculpts are very similar, I think Dandy Tristan has slightly bigger features & the girl versions lips are slightly more curved upwards. My dandy Tristan usually looks pouty or bored whereas my girl Tristan usually looks like she has a secret, like a Mona Lisa smile. Might just be the faceup though, they both have the company faceup.
