Osaka Dolpa 5 (8/3)

My order status was blank all day, but then I got a winning email at 8:30pm! I won both Rei and her school uniform! YEAH!

My credit card is dead and October is going to be a long wait, though. Do you think Dollfie Dreams might ship at a different time (or even sooner) since they are manufactured differently than the resin SD's? Has anyone here won a DD by lottery before and had any different shipping experience?

 

hmm it seems like Volks made enough stock for US buyers. Like basically everyone won in this thread so far. Maybe they calculated how popular they would be or something. Any thoughts?

 

There were a few that didn't win. It appears that orders were canceled before the winners were sent their notification e-mails. It's hard to say how many people lost, as I'm sure some didn't bother to post it here... and also they might not have checked their order status yet and not know themselves.

 

*raises hand* Erm...for what it's worth, I lost out on Ryu. I don't know how many of those who entered weren't lucky in this lottery, but probably those that did are busy moping rather than posting about their loss. -_-;;

You just have to post lots of yummy picture of the pretty thing when he shows up. I can't wait to see owner pics of him--he looks like Shirou and Tsukasa had a baby.

 

Yeah, of course everyone who won has posted, haha. I was one of the losers as well, and unfortunately, there are more who did not get Ryu who entered for him than who did win him.

 

Is there going to be another one of those surveys to see who was able to get what? I'd be interested to see what the results are.

About 3,000 people formed a line at Dolpa Osaka 5 and when the number near 200th was called, Ryu was sold out. USA people are very lucky.

 

For what it's worth, I put in for both Yo-SD Kun and SDC Ryu. And I lost for Ryu, but I won for Kun. I'm delighted that I won Kun -- I really wanted her. But it is disappointing not to win Ryu as I was hoping to get him for a close friend.

condolences for those who lost. I know how heart breaking it could be after hoping for the doll for so long. But I find this thread a bit different from the other threads, like it was more secretive before if someone lost or won. I definitely heard more losses than wins for dolpa 19, but i think that was unbelievably low in stock. But the second hand market for Ryu seems pretty good. It will probably stay below $980. I am just really curious because really I have awful luck when it comes to these things so I am thinking there must be something different.

wow 3,000 people... I think US is very fortunate! our dolpas has like 300 at the most. Hehe so glad Japan loves us.

Wow, that isn't very many of Ryu! Do you remember at about what point the other dolls sold out? I guess that we are very lucky here indeed!

 

Actually, 3,000 is not a lot at Dolpas in Japan. Dolpas in Tokyo get 6,000~8,000 people, and I believe when I attended Dolpa for Luna (I queued under the severe weather for hours but could not win her at that Dolpa), there were more people...about 6,000 or more, if my memory is not wrong.

Ryu was sold under 200, Yui was sold out at the first half of the 200th level, Mini DDs were sold out at the similar point and Volks started to sell Mini DD's "pre order" tickets. There were enough Eden, Yo Ryo. If what I heard is not wrong, there were a lot of DD Rei, Asuka and Yo Kun.

The actual Dolpa was far better than the past Osaka Dolpas, because Volks started new systems for line, the lottery and the payment. I broke my health condition for a while every time after having participated in it, but this Dolpa was far better. (I know USA Dolpa a little, because I attended LA Dolpa, and it was super comfortable. The number of seats in Dolpas in Japan are definitely little. People at Dolpas in Japan are not smiling like in USA Dolpa...)

 

So far nothing from Volks for me and Ryu. I had an email entry, not an actual order from the site, so I have nothing to check, and I really had a feeling I wouldn't do well in this lottery. Congrats to all the new arrivals!

 

Okay, doing the happy dance! I won both Kun and Ryu. My credit card may be cowering in the corner, but I am of course thrilled. Truly sorry to those who didn't win who they wanted. Since nothing had come yesterday figured I lost out on both, but took a general check of my emails this morning and the notification was there. Now just have to wait until NOVEMBER! to actually receive them.

I'm glad that I won both Ryu and Yui, but my friend who entered the lottery for me also won them This may be my lucky year.

 

Do any of you know if Ryu comes with all of his clothes? I know that there were previous dolls like Neon and Cannon that did not come with their clothes.

I sure hope I can get Ryu via second hand now. He reminds me a lot of Tsukasa. It could be because Mikey's dolls are fairly recognizable.

 

All SDCs come with outfits so Ryu won't be coming home naked. =3

 

I think it's adorable that the SDCs started out as some kind of "messengers"... but they don't all follow any one style or idiom. Arashi was the "bravely looking angel boy" from the Kyoto store, "coming to say hello"... and Ryu is the messenger who only appears after dark, and comes to "gently collect the happy shadows" that you leave behind when you depart Tenshi-no-Sato with your new SD. How cute is that?

It's like, among Volks's staff of professional angel spirits, these guys're only part-time angels. Who get to have genders & wear their own clothes. XD

He does kind of look like Tsukasa about the nose, and he kind of looks like Shiro about the eyes, and he kind of looks like Isao about the mouth. The Mikey Family look is unmistakable! The Tokyo Boys' love-child. Those guys are all so inbred they all look sort-of-but-sort-of-not like each other. XD I love it, though. I seem to be powerless against almost everything Mikey puts her hand to.

LOVE the outfit, too. Yes, included. I love that Ryu already looks like he hangs out with Arashi, the other tough-guy SDC. ^^ Those zipper-festooned fanged skullcrusher boots are so freaking adorable!

They didn't check my card until today. *grin* I had to call my credit card company to make certain the actual payment from Volks wasn't going through until 08/18/08.

...Okay. Maybe the word I was looking for was more along the lines of panic.

Congrats to all of you who won! And extra-special congrats to those who won Ryu; he sold out super fast at the Dolpa! I was really considering him, but yah, he sold out before 200 & we were around #230 So you guys are really lucky!

 

That makes me worry about how quickly he'll go during the after event. Seconds maybe? X.x Nerve-wracking....

Does anyone know why the YO's aren't in the international after event? That seems a real shame to me.

 

From what I understand, they aren't available for the After Event, period. Not even here in Japan. They were only available for the Dolpa & the lottery

Iiiinteresting. So it looks like they're trying to avoid the usual server-crash madness and doing an After Event lottery instead, at least for the limiteds -- two-day entry period, so people after the dolls can avoid the traditional After Event frenzy.

The Sumika items, on the other hand, will be the usual click war -- at 3 am PST instead of the usual 7 pm, at that.

 

Hmmm... I think the lottery for the VolksINT site is a good idea. Maybe will weed out some of the scalpers? At least will give everyone an equal chance this time. I've not participated in the frenzy before, but I looked over some threads in the archives, and it sounds like it usually is a complete disaster - with server freezes and crashings and what-not.

I am tempted to try to get a few Sumika outfits. Dunno if I like them enough to deal with the madness though~ Watching the stuff on VolksUSA sell out in minutes was sucky enough for me.

 

Wow, that's a big change! I'm glad that Volks is being proactive about the mess that the AE's usually are online. I've stayed up till an ungodly hour for an AE before with a handful of other people trying to get one doll and none of us were able to get past putting her into a shopping cart. The lottery AE will definitely take a load off!

I initially wasn't going to try for Ryu at all in the AE, but I think now I will!

 

Oh cool! My Mom'll be happy to have a chance at Ryu again anyway. We normally have terrible luck with AE's because our computers lag. At least this time maybe she'll have a fair shot.

 

I really don't want to be up at 3AM for a pair of shoes. I think I want to skip out on the AE.

 

I wonder what they mean by asking people not to use software or programs to place an order. O.o

I'm thrilled they're going for a lottery, though. Finally, they've doing something about the server crashathon!

 

Probs 'bot' versions that can immediately check out the doll that they choose,or maybe programs they made themselves that can just give them a slight edge into getting a doll WAY faster than everyone else?

Anyway,like everyone's said,I'm glad about the lottery AE too,I hope they keep that system for future events.

I won Ryu at Osaka Dolpa...I wanted to take photos of him earlier, but because of summer vacation, I'm a little busy and cannot take photos of him yet. I hope I can play with him soon...

Overseas customers can not apply for the lottery on the VOLKS Japanese web site.

This is what it says. Overseas customers must only apply on the international site. They will not be permitted to do so on the Japanese one.

We should be okay to enter still! ^^

 

well, I'm planning on trying my luck for a few things at Volks USA.. despite the fact I will have to be up at 4:30AM to do so. LOL.

 

I'm excited about the lottery. I've been heavily debating with myself as to whether or not I want to go for it and try to get Ryu. He would be my first ever BJD! I'm happy it's a lottery system. ;;

Does anyone know what they mean by "Please access the main page, and then open up each order sheet for entering the lottery event."? Order sheet? Is that something that will appear on the main page, you think? Or would it be in the shopping cart?

 

Once the lottery has started, you sign in to the International site. You'll be able to pull up the Osaka 5 page with the limited items. Each of the dolls will be shown with a check box and a pull down menu (if this is anything like the other sales periods/lotteries have been). You put a check in the box beside the doll you'd like to try for, then use the pull down menu to indicate the special services you'd like to have done on him/her. Put in the requested information, submit your order, then cross your fingers and wait.

This is a big chance if I think of the past After Events. It was very hard get anything >__<

That's awesome that Volks is doing the lottery again for the international AE ~ much less stressful! I am SO tempted to try for Ryu, he's such a cutie and he'd make the perfect brother for my Hewitt. I really, really want to get a 4-sisters Yo though . . . so hopefully I'll be able to resist the temptation and not spend all my monies on him. >.< Good luck to everyone who enters!

 

Has anyone received an email from Volks yet that we can pick up our babies for those of us that specified the option to pick up our dollies as opposed to having them ship to our homes? As of early this morning, they still didn't charge my bank account, but as of an hour ago they did. So! I'm hoping that in the next few minutes we'll get mass emails saying we can pick them up? Yes? Anyone?

 

They won't be ready until early/mid October (assuming no sato gaeri services) won't they o.o?

I really love his outfit and overall design!!! I have been wanting Arashi for a long time but couldn't quite find the right one, he was my first sdc boy love actually first in general. But I think Ryu is even more appropriate and to my taste. Can't wait to get him! So glad I finally won something!!

Thank you for posting that picture, ria_ria! I was hoping I could eventually use his head on a girl SDC body and seeing your pictures (as well as others I've run across) proves to me that it could work out nicely!

I imagine that if I win Ryu he will have to cross-dress for a bit while I look for a girl SDC body for him. haha

Don't panic! ^^ Just try him in a different wig-- or change his faceup. He's got a lovely strong little-boy face, that could easily be less girly with less eyeshadow, and paler lips. They did go a bit heavy-handed on the eyeshadow for this Ryu. But the faceups always vary, so maybe you'll get a lighter one.

But EEEEEEEEEE gadzooks is he cute!! Ria, your boy is so much more smiley than the stock photos... he looks very happy.
Congratulations on Ryu coming home!! But now it makes me even more impatient for November to get here, so my little boy can finally arrive. Can't wait can't wait....
