Ordering Ordering from Moonlight BJD

I've been wondering the same thing. They seem responsive to inquiries. I've messaged them on their site before.

 

I made an order about a month ago and their customer service is quick and very nice. Obviously the items haven't arrived yet since they're made to order and take time. So I can't yet say anything about that, but I can give an update once I get them

 

I ordered from them, and items are currently being shipped to me. I'll happily update you on the quality of each item when they arrive. My orders took 2 months to be processed. They are very responsive, and almost reply within the day.

 

Hello. I've just received my orders earlier. Have'nt taken picts yet but I've already opened them up. They're absolutely gorgeous, and looks exactly like the listing pictures provided on the site! Overall I am very pleased with the clothes, and with the buying experience.

 

I've ordered eyes from them and received them much sooner than I expected. The eyes are beautiful and high quality and look exactly like the pictures, if not better, and I felt like the price was very fair too.

I've also ordered a BIA outfit that apparently got lost in the mail, but they were very prompt about informing me of the problem and made it clear that I am going to get a replacement ASAP. I paid using their payment plan system, which confused me a bit at first but they were very kind about explaining how it worked.

All in all I think they have excellent service and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

 

It's nice to hear that they arrived quickly. I ordered eyes and some other stuff from them too a little while ago. How long did it take for the eyes to arrive?

 

Looking back at my records, seems like I placed the order on Feb 6 and it was shipped on Mar 26. So just a little over a month and a half. That was a lot quicker than I was expecting especially considering the restrictions due to the pandemic were in full effect at that time.

 

@lizumi156 I would be thrilled to see some photos, if/when you end up taking them! Seems like people are having positive experiences so far, definitely makes me want to go ahead and place an order...

Oh! I have had my eye on the set with the hoody. Could you please tell me, is it yellow or a kind of green?

It looks yellow from the photos, but there was a picture of the material on another outfit's page and it said it was green. So now I'm confused.

Thank you so much! I too am confused of the color of the hoodie xD. At first glance it seems yellow, but the more I look at it, it starts to appear greenish. For reference look up Pantone 3955.

Did anyone ordered dolls from them ?

 

I order a few things from moonlight before I realized how bad their markup is (400-600% over what the original makers sell them for on Taobao), so I do not feel that the quality reflects the price consistently. I would have felt okay about the finishing and patterning quality of some clothing if I had purchased it at it's regular retail, but some of the leather strappy stuff has already fallen apart after only a few weeks and the some of the fabrics are very low budget with bulky seams and poorly chosen elastic. If the cost of shipping their offerings from China to Canada was a separate fee, then at least I wouldn't have had the expectation that a $50 item would be $50 worth of materials and labor.

 

I ordered a pair of Vanilla Ann eyes from them! I ordered them a long time ago, and I received them - although, I live close to Canada, I didn't choose tracked shipping but they sent me a copy of the label with my information to confirm they had shipped it. I really don't recommend using untracked shipping though! Especially if you're uneasy like me. LOL

 

I don't really know what's their markup, but I agree on the quality part! Just received my order, and the quality does not reflect the price at all lol.
They look great for sure, but the fabric and finishing are just not that great. The ones I ordered were about $200, I would say it's the quality of about $100.

 

I ordered the cello from them and it's been in the mail two months! I contacted them when I finally realized just how long it's been. How long do they take get back to people? Had anyone ride gotten their cello?

 

I asked them about a doll and they responded quickly and I asked them again about an outfit and also responded quickly

 

I've recently placed an order for a doll through them (because it's the only place to order it). They replied quickly with my layaway question and the answer was clear and easy to understand.
But. I wouldn't buy clothing from them. The markup is pretty much about 100%. Example, one of the outfits on their site from a seller is $115, when I purchased it directly from the seller it was $54. So, the quality makes sense if you buy directly, but if you buy from them you might be disappointed depending on the seller/maker of the item. Some makers they sell for have consistently better quality than others. Buying clothing/furniture through them is a valid choice if you're not wanting to put up with figuring out Taobao with the language barrier and/or dealing with shopping services. However, they have layaway options for clothing and it's all made to order, so it's more affordable for people, especially with limited items. So it's kind of a win-lose depending on what it is that you're wanting to buy.

I'm looking to buy a pre-order doll through them. I plan to pay full, but the dealer wrote me an e-mail to ask me to pay with Paypal as friends directly. So I don't have any order on the website I guess.
I am a bit worried to pay as F&F directly and not on the website.
Do you have any feedback for this kind of transaction with them ?

My cello is finally on the move again. What a relief! It's been three months.

 

Mine finally showed up earlier in the week.
It took a pretty absurd amount of time for the thing to make it through the post. <_<

 

I'll say. It took so long, it's on its way to an old address. Goodness know when it will actually make it here. The last package I redirected vanished into the void.

 

@Zengia it would worry me too, even though some dealers work this way. Could you tell them you want to pay via goods & services, and ask them to calculate the additional fees?

Ouch. Reading some of the posts here about how long it took for the shipping to get through. I ordered a lovely hanfu back in October, it was shipped November 29th. USPS tracking has not budged. But I managed to find China tracking and it ended up in Shanghai as of December 12th, 2020. I contacted moonlight about it a month ago, they basically told me it would take a while, 3 months. It will be 3 months by March 1st. I even went down to my post office. They checked their system and informed me that it has not arrived in USA yet. I’m getting nervous. I had another package from China that was declared lost and the seller refunded me. I just hope this one didn’t get lost. I also ordered a wig around the same time but it has not been shipped yet. Despite how lovely the products Moonlight sells, I don’t think I’ll ever order from them again.

update 3/27: the outfit finally arrived after 3 and half month and some time in custom. The wig I also ordered at the same time is on its way to me now. The outfit is gorgeous! But seeing that I could get it from taobao, I will most likely order from taobao over moonlight. That way, I can opt for speedier delivery and cheaper. Waiting to see how the wig turns out.

 

My cello should finally be arriving at my new address today. I think that I will also hold off on ordering from them again, at least until the postal back up is cleared.

 

I am glad people actually received their orders. I bought a wig on Oct. 4th last year and haven´t heard anything of that til now. Also ordered shoes in the middle of December, of which I haven´t heard either. They offer beautiful stuff, but atm I am really cautious to order other outfits or accessoires. I am seriously wondering if I will ever get my orders.

 

I ordered a mohair wig back in early January from Moonlight and it arrived yesterday; overall it looks like the website photos and sits well even without a cap. It was fairly pricey but it's well made. I'd probably buy from them again if I see eyes or wigs that I fall in love with, but I'm definitely hesitant on the outfits because of how expensive they are.

I have placed three orders for outfits with them over the last few months. One has arrived, and the quality is wonderful - no regrets on that purchase at all. I've spoken with her about the requests for payment via Friends and Family with layaway, and let her know that this is a risk which many people are leery about taking. I also mentioned that asking alternatively for the buyer to cover PP costs is against the TOS, and could ultimately get her into some hot water if people start to complain. Moon was super nice and very understanding, and I don't think that she had considered those issues before. She said that she will consider how to deal with them in the future. But as a side note, I did tell her that I didn't mind paying a bit extra, as she not only has to deal with the nominal amount that dealers make, but also the thing which we as buyers don't really think about, which is the wildly fluctuating conversion rates; the dollar could be worth a lot less from one day to the next, which is quite problematic with layaway. In the end, I asked her to invoice me with fees added, and it only cost me two dollars more for a rather expensive outfit.

 

Has anyone ordered the clawed gloves that released in November from them? I did and I haven't heard anything. I tried sending an email but there's been no response yet.

 

@PennyForTheGuy I didn't order those (although I was tempted!), but I did order an embroidered outfit on September 24, and it still hasn't arrived. I asked her about it, and on April 25 she told me it was expected to ship in about two to three weeks. So...coming up on three weeks, but we'll see.

She generally answers the 'Let's Chat' on her website pretty quickly. You might want to try clicking on that and asking about your gloves.

 

Okay, double posting to say three weeks and still no word. I do want to add, though, that another outfit I ordered in October got here about two months ago, and it is just beautiful - a very high quality, five piece suit. Pretty sure she's just at the mercy of the artisans when it comes to shipping times. As in...dealers and...Dollshe.

 

I've heard back since lady post on the gloves. It seems my order was lost in transit with others. They ordered replacements and ate saying it should be in in about two weeks. Fingers crossed.

 

I still haven´t gotten my wig I ordered last October or the sneakers I ordered in December. It totally puts me off of ordering from them again. But I am glad to see that others got their items. So maybe there`s still hope.

 

Their price are too high. On the moonlight website, the "Sunset Flower by Desers" is $695. Although it's on lottery basis, the price on Desers' weibo is about 3,280 Chinese Yuan($509.71) for SDGr size and 3380 yuan($525.25) for SD16.
I think no one would spend that much on a single bjd clothes anyway.

 

I have ordered very very often from them and I have two problems with this dealer:
1. Extremely long waiting times
2. Very pricey - not only with items but also with shipping prices.

I always buy with express shipping option because I'm impatient. When I pay already high shipping costs they charge me even more after months when the item is ready to ship.
They hold in my other items from different oders until all my orders are produced and ship it out alltogether THOUGH I PAID SHIPPING COSTS INDIVIDUALLY FOR EACH ORDER (Often I have 120$ for only shipping per order).
I already told them that I find it injust, but they were like 'oh but your items were just finished by now' - I don't believe it.
They did this two times already. In my latest order is an outfit that I ordered about half a year ago...

And also annoying is that last time I waited for their EXPRESS SHIPPING for 4 weeks. That's an absolute lie, they didn't choose express here. International express takes a week or even less in my experience.

I always try to find out the original artists and buy directly at their shops, but I'm limited because in my country I can't access taobao or weibo.

Moonlight also makes these 'limited order periods' to make people buy quickly, though the artists have the items still available after that. I sometimes bought such items on the artist's etsy or instagram then.

I'm not so happy with these things but I also don't have many other choices so I end up buying there again ...

Newest issue: They have this incredible horse/ unicorn for sale now but no good pictures. The thing is 1 meter or even taller and will cause hundreds and hundreds of dollars shipping costs, though the listed sales price is 'only' 300-400 dollars.

That's really.... Ouff. Tough and risky decision to order it... And still I will probably fall for it again...

 

I was wondering if anyone has a more recent experience with Moonlight? I really love the 'Sound', rib cage violin but I saw some fairly negative comments on instagram that has made me question the safety of ordering from them again. I have ordered twice in the past. I too found the shipping costs that were charged as express were in fact an economy shipping method. Still, the items did arrive.

 

I've been waiting for my orders extremely long. Often half a year or longer.
At the moment there seems to be a pronlem with international shipping prices, which are extremely high.
I'm waiting for my horse, which is finished but can't be shipped out because they cant6 find a good shipping deal since months.
It's been ordered last year in june?
It's not necessarily their fault but it's very annoying because there seems no solution.
If you can wait for a very long time you can order. If you need something soon better don't do it.

 

I'm curious on everyone's experiences with their shipping rates. I have my first doll on layaway at their site and I'm starting to grow concerned on how high it can go. I'm always fine with a long wait but I'm a bit uncomfortable paying $200-$300 for shipping since that's what I saw. I had a general idea of what shipping would look like for a bjd but is it always that expensive? Sorry! I'm still a newbie

 

It's usally a bit lower but during Corona the costs went up.
I live in europe and have bought a doll from someone in america. I paid 380 dollar shipping.
As mentioned above they have not shipped my horse yet because shipping is so expensive.
I don't know... They will somehow try to offer a cheaper rate but I was also often asked to pay more when the item was ready for shipment (before Corona)
Saving some money for shipping costs is necessary I guess

 

@DeanDynamite I agree with everything you wrote! Expensive shipping, overpriced items, horrible waiting times, insufficient pictures and shipping items together. Lots and lots to complain about. But like you - I always come back. Want against reason, I suppose. At least I didn´t have to pay any custom fees for my last order.

With your horse, that´s a bust. I did admire it too. I really hope they will find some solution.

I recently heard over on a BJD Discord i am on they were charging people $800-450 for shipping 75cm dolls?! Thats insane, the poster had email proof too. I don't know if anyone else had that experience with them here with high shipping for dolls but thats absolutely insane. Its a shame as they are the only vendor for certain artists I like.

 

I'm currently waiting for them to ship some instock items that I ordered back in Feb. I've heard absolutely nothing from them about the hold up. At this point regardless of when it arrives (if it arrives) I will never order from them again. Instock shouldn't take 2 months.

 

One of my dolls was ready to ship a day or two ago. For some info I ordered Ying, the artist is 啊U/RU they also go by yukilovecomic on Instagram. He's a 74cm doll ^-^ and here are the rates. EMS: $210 DHL: $205 China Air Post: $140 and SAL (they state that SAL is a combination of airmail and sea.) $95. These prices are in USD as well. Hope this helps some people out

 

I’m glad to have looked for reviews- I really want to order some of the wigs by Celine but I’m not so sure having read some of these experiences Wish there was a way to order directly from the wig maker

 

I purchased a Celine wig from Moonlight and it is very pretty, colour is accurate and it's soft . Don't know if there's a way to order direct from the maker either, but can confirm the product is good quality!

 

@SailorEris - How long did it take for your Celine wig to arrive? I just ordered one today...along with a pair or jeans...I've never ordered from them before.

It was shipped about 10 weeks after ordering (this was in early 2021). The same wig is still for sale, and confusingly there's 2 lead times posted (??), but the 2 months +/- 2 weeks lead time matches my experience. The newer Celine wigs listed have even longer lead times, so maybe it's best to assume they will take on the longer side of that estimate to be shipped...

And the jeans- wow, they look so realistic!!

So I ordered one of the wigs from Sin through Moonlight (was so hoping they would have another rerun on wigs ) I’ll update here when I receive it. Hopefully it won’t be too long

 

I love looking at moonlight's posts but the prices are always higher than taobao and other agents. I've seen $50 markups for clothing compared to other agents.
