    1. So nice girl <3, and so many wonderful pics in your Flikr, I believe we need at least some of them here!!! :eusa_pray

    5. Haha, I see I've started a pretty nice theme here :D

Awww, thank you very much <3 I promise to show more pictures of Isabelle, but as she is a hybrid and only her body is obitsu, it makes no sense to put her portraits here. Therefore I will focus on her body instead ;)

Here is the reason I love this body - It can pose very well and needs almost no help to be able to stand like this :D

    7. Oh, sword fight, yeah! Definitelly have to take photo of my girls fighting. Btw, I love her boots :D

Rinko here has no sword. But she has pointy metal thingys in her Desert Eagle.

    9. @Mysha
Yep, I too love bodies of this type, for their poseability and for their nice feeling when you hold them in hands!

      @Stratocaster
Waw, so big gun in hands of so pretty girl! She shall be very accurate with it, cause I saw quite a few videos on YouTube where girls trying to shot from such big guns, and it ends not very good for them. And she should look in the direction, where her gun points on, cause her enemy will definitely use her lost control on the situation.

Mafuyu just arrived - my first big fully Obitsu doll:

    10. Your Mafuyu is so cute! I like the colors on her - blue eyes and brown hair are just lovely <3

And one additional picture from me for our "girls with guns" theme which turned to "girls with swords" lately :D

      Thank you!
And yes, those Big Blue almost Shrek Cat's Eyes! I love them! :mwahaha

BTW You have told that her body - Obitsu body, but what kind of head is she?

    13. @Tolgy
She's Dollfie Dream Saber Extra :)

    14. I just welcomed an Angel Philia Hana- who I named after her kanji that make up her name: Momiji. Really happy to join the ranks of all the other doll owners in this thread who have such beautiful dolls.:aheartbea

This photo is over exposed but it suit her pretty well! Looks like a "mid-night out partying" photo.:XD:

@Tolgy Congrats on welcoming your first larger girl! How exciting- she is beautiful!

@Stratocaster I love Rinkyo's punk look- she reminds me of the cool Nana from "Nana"! She also looks like she has some good aim- watch out! :aeyepop:

    15. I can't believe that I never found this thread before! I haven't bought any dolls yet, so obitsus seem like a good first choice as they are relatively cheap, and super cute. I personally like anime-styled dolls; do you guys have any recommendations for a good place to start putting together a doll or buying one?

    16. @Stella Yang Hi there! Obitsu can be very affordable and adorable though there they definitely do run the gamut of pricing- it just depends on the branding/finishing? A good place to look at aka cart options is parabox.

My Momiji cost around USD $550- that's also almost the price of a DD. I guess my point is if your dream doll is a DD (I think you mentioned that somewhere?) then it certainly can't hurt to start with obitsu but that investment is also a good chunk of money towards a DD too!

There will no doubt be lots of better advice from people who know obitsu better but no matter which way you decide to go: follow your heart! :aheartbea:3nodding::aheartbea

I can't wait to see who you decide to welcome!:D

    17. Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
Before you get too far along here I want to mention that this thread is for 40cm and larger Obitsus, which can come from a number of companies like Parabox, Angel Philia, Yamato VMF50s, Visuadolls, and Azone. The 1/6 scale Obitsus (27cm and smaller) are banned on DoA.

Obitsus can run a wide range of prices and styles, from the stock bodies that run around $250ish to some of the pricier full sets which can start around $600 and go up. There are deals to be had on the used market and stock 50cms can go for under $200. If you don't know exactly what you're looking for, try a google image search on some of the companies I've mentioned above. Look through the pictures to see what's out there and what's possible. Another place for pictures and information is the Obitsu topic on the Dollfie Dreams forum.

And of course there are a few Obitsu pictures on the MADh Vinyl web site and Dollieh Sanctuary MV forum (shameless plug).

If you already have a concept and you need to look for the building blocks, Parabox is a good place to look. They retail most Obitsu bodies and parts internationally and have an English web site.
And by all means, if you can't find the answer to a question you have, ask. We're here to help.

    18. @nakitaninja Haha yes, my dream doll is the DD Chihaya. I was thinking about getting a smaller obitsu (1/6), but now I realize that's off topic thanks to @K-2! With that in mind, I might go for a smaller obitsu in the end, or I might just save up for Chihaya when I see her for sale somewhere. But I'll still be surfing this thread because the larger obitsus are gorgeous as well, I just don't have the money yet. I spent hours browsing the parabox website yesterday! Thank you both for your input and advice.

    19. I got my first doll as a birthday present and I love her so much! I'm so glad I decided on Obitsu because she's so fun to pose.

    20. You're the 7th guy to say that hahaha. Yeah, I have to admit they looked very similar despite my learning about Nana very recently. The world's just full of coincidences.

Loved your Momiji! she looks really cute in the photo.

Parabox absolutely :D never actually bought anything there but they do have quite the catalog on Obitsu dolls.

Lucky you! she's adorable. Is she using the 45cm Obitsu body?

    21. Thanks!:) It's the 50cm body. I had actually originally been looking at the 45cm though, but I liked the head that Parabox includes with the 50cm plus I wanted really good posing ability and so many people said the 50cm was the best so I figured why not.

    22. Hi, @nakitaninja! Nice to meet your beauty! :love

Actually she is not my first big doll, she is my first big doll which was designed, manufactured and sold by Obitsu. If you will look at that photo's background, you can see at very left a piece of something pink and black - this is not fully Obitsu's Sakura Kyouko by Azone, then doll in white, rosy, yellow and black - this is completely not Obitsu doll Kikuchi Makoto by Volks, then in white, blue and gray - Smart Doll's Kizuna Yumeno, then at the right site of the photo in blue and white is P-Chan by Obitsu/Parabox, and the last, rightmost Volks custom DDH-09 in rosy and white. All of them are big dolls, at least for me. ;)

Am I right and you've made make-up of your doll by yourself?
If so, my congrats! stunning job! <3

    23. @Tolgy , Mafuyu looks so cute with her little dolls! I can't stop staring... *_*
And about weaponry, I think my pink gun would suit her cuteness well ^^

    24. Oh, thank you for your so warm words!
      :3nodding: :whee:

P.S. What I cannot understand, what happened with my two last posts. Cause the second one was about 6 hours later, I've decided add new post instead of updating the previous one. But this morning I find out that both of them have been merged, and links from the second one - corrupted... Strange... I've fixed them now.

    25. I did! Thank you! Though I'm actually about to redo it. I'm not 100% happy with her eyes but it was my first faceup so I'll probably end up redoing it a few times before I'm completely happy.

Also, your dolls are absolutely adorable!

    27. Hey, guys! I'm looking into getting my first Obitsu doll, and I am eyeing the 47cm body. Can't decide on a head just yet. Does anyone here have the 47cm body? I'm wondering how hard it is to find clothes that will fit. Thank you!

    28. Almost anything made for the Obitsu 48/50cm bodies should also fit the 47cm. AFAIK the torso is the same length and the height difference is in the thigh piece, so perhaps full length jeans/pants may not fit but for all intents and purposes everything else should.

You can get Azone branded clothing from places like AmiAmi, HLJ or HobbyLink. Parabox of course make their own clothing for their bodies and I've never had any issues with their items except a selection that on top of being small is often out of stock...

And you should listen to your signature the Hime-Ane head is adorable! I have one and she's stunningly beautiful.

    29. Like trying to perfectly fit any doll, unless specifically mentioned as fitting the Obitsu/Parabox bodies, finding clothes that fit can be challenging. I concur with TheFluffyTankFairy's assessment. The current Parabox 47cm body is based on the Obitsu 48/50cm body. The 47cm's legs are shortened slightly but the torso diameter remain close enough where most articles made for the stock 48/50cm should fit.
Azone (one of the largest users of the Obitsu 48/50cm body) makes a selection of clothes/shoes for the 48/50cm. You will want to look in their FAR series items.
Here's a link to our current clothes listings for these bodies. It is by no means complete, but can get you started.

And welcome to the wonderfully posable world of vinyl!

    30. You know, as often as I use AmiAmi, it never occurred to me to check them for doll clothing until now. Thank you! By the way, is Hime-Ane a larger 7/8 or a 8/9 for wigs? The '8' on the Parabox site does make this a bit vague. xD

Edit: And of course, everything I really like is long sold out on all three sites for clothes in the FAR category. :sigh

Aaaah, thank you so much for the detailed info! I'm happy that Volks MSD clothes will fit. I've been eyeing a few of their previous releases. Same with Luts. (I have a weakness for cute dresses, haha.) At the moment I am not sure if I want the immature bust, or the larger one, though. Would I be better off with the larger one? I know Parabox gets the bodies in stock every so often, and January is a long ways off, since I'd rather order everything in one shipment.

Oh, and I have another question: When you say 'current' body, does that mean I might not get the one I see pictured? I wanted a MSD girl on the taller side with the Hime-Ane head, which is why I decided on that body.

    31. I have my Hime-Ane with a 7-8inch ebay special at the moment and it was a very tight fit to get it on, but I suspect an 8-9 would be loose as. Personally I would either try to source a wig specifically 8-inch size or try my luck on a 7-8. Also while I have your attention, mine has 20mm Parabox eyes which seem to suit her rather well.

Just a note before you get too carried away with MSD/MDD clothing, while the three sizes of the bodies are similar, the MDD body is quite a bit shorter than a Parabox 47cm. I have a Parabox 40cm who wears all MDD stuff including close-fitting underwear and that fits her just fine but a 7cm difference shouldn't be underestimated.

And asking me about bust size probably isn't a good idea. As a dedicated little girl enthusiast I have to say my opinions may be somewhat biased. The largest any of my girls have is an Obitsu medium.

    32. Hmmm. Well, seeing as I own a couple of Lullaby Poem's wigs, I will buy one in 7/8. Their wig caps do have a bit of give to them, so I might be able to get away with that. I plan on buying two pairs of White Dolly Story eyes for my girl, too. One in 20mm, another in 22mm. They're nicely priced, and I hear they have great quality. Plus, I get the excuse to order both in purple. :XD:

Ah. Yes, I'm very aware that clothing made for the MDD/MSD will be much shorter on the 47cm. I can live with that, as long as it fits well otherwise and I'm not accidentally getting pantsu-flashed all time by my doll, haha. The second half of that about clothing and bust size was actually a response to K-2!, though. Sorry for the confusion! I might just go ahead and order the larger bust piece if it isn't offered on the body when it is in stock. I want to see it in person anyways.

      Thanks for your help!

    33. Yeah "Sold Outs" suck, but quite a few of these outfits come up on Yahoo Japan Auctions and resale places like Mandarake. And some of the more popular outfits are re-released (sometimes takes a few years!)
Also Hobby Search has a weekly Fashion Doll newsletter. They list upcoming Azone (and other) releases and you can pre-order them.
      HobbySearch Fashion Doll Store

That's one of the great things about vinyl. You can buy an option bust at an affordable price ($10-$15 at current exchange rates) and swap them out to see which you like best. And it only takes a couple of minutes to swap busts so you can go back an forth between the two as often as you like.

A number of years ago before Obitsu came out with the 50cm body, Parabox had a 47cm body based on parts of the Obitsu 60cm skeleton/body. It created a shorter body than their 55cm and 60cm bodies but it was just as "thick", heavier in proportions than the current 47cm. This old 47cm was discontinued years ago but they are still out there. Something to be aware of if you shop the secondary market and see an "old" 47cm for sale.

    34. No need to be, that was me mangling your quote trying to trim it down to avoid a quote pyramid like in the good old days. :p

While on the topic of Mandarake though, I also recommend you use a website called figinstock. You give it search terms to use (Azone, Obitsu, 50cmใƒ‰ใƒผใƒซ, ใ‚ชใƒ“ใƒ„50, etc) and it will periodically search Mandarake for new listings that match. This lets you find things as they are listed, often goodies sell really quickly.

I don't know how they do it but it's free. Maybe they get a kickback on sales? No idea, but I've never had any problems and the site is a lifesaver. If not for it I'd never have had a snowball's chance in hell of getting my Kanojo.

    35. Hey! I'm just going to pop in with my 48cm Mafuyu custom to say hi.
Since everyone was talking about clothing I wanted to say that I took a chance putting her in a lovely dress meant for SD13 and as long as you don't mind a fit that's loose in the waist and gives a bit more childish look I think it's really cute! I'm definitely going to keep shopping in this size for her.

I love the pictures of your Mafuyu @Tolgy <3

      • x 4
    36. Aww she's a little cutie pie <3 There are a couple Mafuyus on Mandarake at the moment that I've been eyeing for a while but not quite ready to click "buy now" on. Sadly the Mandarake stock photos never do her any justice so I haven't been able to fall in love (yet). Do you have some more photos of yours? Does yours have a custom faceup and/or has the head been modified?

    37. @TheFluffyTankFairy Well we sure are blushing! :whee: Thank you!
I only have a few more pictures of her so far. I got her head only this spring and I did her face-up. (I'm still practicing and learning how to paint on vinyl.) She's not modified at all. I think personally think the sculpt would be quite versatile. If you're considering having her with a custom face-up you could always order her unpainted head from Parabox to see if you like it. They have pictures of it blank which might be helpful.
Heads for the 47/48/50cm Obitsu body

I love your avatar doll by the way. She is definitely my impossible vinyl grail. Such an intense expression! <3

      • x 3
    38. You know honestly I had no idea Mafuyu was available unpainted! I've bought tons of stuff from Parabox but never an unpainted head, I prefer to buy pre-painted as I lack the motor controls to ever be successful with detailed painting so never looked at the unpainted heads for more than a moment. I had always thought Mafuyu a long sold-out limited like some of my other girls.

And yes I had been coveting Kanojo for many years before finally getting my hands on one. She set me back nearly $1,000 dollarydoos and for that I got a head, a damaged wig and a wonky old 50cm body that essentially needed every joint replaced. But now I have her I couldn't be happier. She's fit in exceptionally well as the family matriarch and a loving big sister to three other girls.

I got mine through Mandarake using Figinstock which is a potent tool in the search for ultra rare items. If you're looking for one of your own, she does show up very occasionally on Mandarake and figinstock can send you an email when that happens.

    39. @TheFluffyTankFairy Well I'm very glad I could tell you something you didn't already know! :hug:At least there are some artists out there who do very lovely custom face-ups on this type of doll if you decided on a blank one who needed painting. It's good to have options!
Oh, that's brutal! :horror:I honestly couldn't have imagined her second hand price and didn't want to think about it. I keep myself on a pretty strict budget and there are a few dolls out there I love fiercely but I know I'll never be able to have, and for me that's okay. She's certainly one of them. But I was very excited to see someone who has her! I really do think she just has the greatest face!
I've never purchased from Mandarake but I've been having a lot of fun window shopping there lately. Maybe I'll take the plunge sometime on something like outfits. Thanks for the great tip though!

    41. Those hands are amazing! If they existed to suit the Obitsu body you have no idea how many kinds of bought they would be.

Haha yeah I love her facial expression, quite often I pause walking past her cabinet to stare at her and her clutch of baby sisters that she's constantly guarding like an old mother hen. The price I paid was, frankly, ridiculous and she actually held the title of most expensive thing I've ever bought outright up until just last week when she was replaced by a vacuum cleaner. Not even my cars or any one piece of furniture cost more than she did. But that's all in the past now, the thing that matters is I have my guest greeter.

Ha, familiar kitty, I think I need to try to organize this kind of joint photo-session! :)

@Mysha Oh, how interesting, are they making hands for Obitsu/Volks or you had to adapt them? (A bit worried your Isabelle's left elbow...)

@nakitaninja Ah, I'm definitely like your's Momiji outfit and how it fetches out her skin and hair color! <3

Long time ago I used to live on the seventh floor of nine-storey building, that building was almost in the middle of nowhere, so my window was exactly over the trees and wonderful wildlife view had been opened out of it! Your floor is definitely much higher, and I just trying to imaging how it will be to see from your window, and how to get home if lift is cease to work!!! ;)

    46. If that elbow joint looks like it's coming apart don't be concerned. The elbows and knees of the 55cm and 60cm ball joint body have a sliding pivot feature that allows deeper bends.
      http://obitsushop.com/pic-labo/t_01p02.jpg

    47. The hands are just generic resin hands (for DikaDoll's dolls I guess...) I used short elastics attached to a loop on a hand where an S-hook goes (I don't have any S-hook), then put a ribbon through the elastics and through a vinyl shell of a forearm. Next, I punt the vinyl in place and wrapped ends of the ribbon around an elbow peg. Having said that, it is just a temporary solution - need to figure out something better.

    48. Here's a tutorial on using resin hands on Obitsus.

    49. @K-2!, I know this feature, my P-chan's old 47cm body has the same. But in it middle disk sits tightly between elbow's hemispheres, on Isabelle's picture, especially if you look on it in full resolution on Flickr, one can see the gap between the disk and upper elbow's hemisphere. And I don't think that it just a play of light and shadow.

@Mysha, A-a-a, that's what these ribbons for! Thank you!

    50. @Tolgy, you are right - there is a gap in the elbow. The hemispheres do not sit tightly and they tend to fall off when you play with the elbow too much. And the one you saw was probably going to fall off after messing with the ribbon ;) But it's not a real problem, because it just needs to be put back in place.

    51. @Mysha, so these hemispheres are just decorative moldings and just a bit of glue will fix the issue? That's OK then.

    52. @Tolgy, yep, they are covering a screw in an elbow. They shouldn't be glued permanently, but I use some blu tack to help them stay in place :)

    53. You're right Tolgy, it's a loose elbow joint cap. I didn't look at the flicker images. Sounds like Mysha has the issue in hand. Isabelle must be really loved to have that part wear.

    54. @Mysha, I thought about small drop of hot glue, it should hold, but not permanently.

@K-2!, It seems that Isabelle moves much more than all my dolls altogether, so she encounters with problems I couldn't even thinking about!

Btw, we got some weaponry too!

    55. Glad to see new pics up. I have not been on in forever. Looking forward to summer so that I can play with my dollies. Loved the idea of using the jointed hands on these girls. Off to measure my wrist diameters and see about finding jointed hands :)

K-2 - thanks for the tutorial on using resin hands with our girls.

Mysha - is that the standard 60cm obitsu body for your hybrid? Also what dikadoll skin color did you use (normal yellow or normal pink)?

    56. @calliope13 I really love your avatar! Parakeets are the best. :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

@Tolgy Ah! She's armed now!!! She's gonna cut us down with a sweet smile... she'd be scary if she weren't so cute. ;)

I recently was FINALLY able to get a new camera and had another photo shoot with Momiji. It's the same doll and even the same dress but the pic is much better. I wanted to share with fellow appreciators of the obitsu. :3nodding:

    57. @nakitaninja, she's scarily cute! :kitty1

Congrats on new camera! Now Momiji looks like alive, albeit short DoF wipes out city view!

    58. Nakitaninja -the better camera makes her look even more amazing. My avatar was my first parakeet :) he was about 4 months old when it was taken.

Found a knit top I made for my girl while cleaning out. Now I just need to find or make some bottoms for her. It is hard when you move lol. I packed her up in her undies and I don't know where most of her clothes are.

    59. This is a ball jointed 60cm body and I guess it is standard (wasn't modified except for hands and feet - I changed them to 55cm feet, coz the original were ugly).
The dikadoll hands are normal pink.
