I've had great luck with FaithZ. That store is my #1 recommendation. Different editions are released fairly regularly, with some slow down with the 'stuff' that's been going on the past few years. I think production of materials down to the increased shipping costs and times are the major factors still to blame. Previous released dolls are sometimes listed on Mandrake or Y!Japan. If you can translate pages, and am comfortable using a shopping service and paying double postage, you can check out Tommy's site too.
Faithz is a good place to get them. I've ordered lots of stuff through them, including my Angel Philia Ellie. And in addition to second-hand Angel Philia dolls, Mandarake does sell brand-new in-stock ones regularly too. But they tend to get sold out quite quickly. I just bought a brand-new Angel Philia Kumi from Mandarake a few weeks ago.
@mollym @namika Thanks for the recommendations! I feel confident knowing others have ordered from Faithz and Mandarake. It seems Angelphilias are difficult to come by, but I guess patience is key.
Yahoo Auctions is good too, worth keeping a look out on there. If you're lucky you can pick up a doll for 300$ but it's few and far between and the selection is obviously luck based.
Obitsu 50-07 (Manatsu) is available for order as semi-order on the ObitsuShop site! I’m not good at reading Japanese, but it looks like the notice at the top of her product page says she’ll be available from October 30th, 2021 to December 31st, 2023.
I have liked her on 2 different platforms now! It’s going to be 3 likes on 3 different platforms soon. Abuelita is so unique. That’s why.
Thank you. I love your girls too. But I’m not going to lie I wish you would share more of your Obitsu boy. I’m still super jeleous you have an Obitsu boy body. I been looking for an obitsu boy body forever Any plans for his head?
Alright, I'm having trouble with a project and I wondered if anyone could help. I'm trying to put together a male vinyl doll, using an Obitsu female doll as a base. I am trying to make a smartdoll male bust slightly smaller, to fit onto the Obitsu body better, but no glue I've tried seems to work. I've tried gorilla glue, I've tried some Tamia craft bond that's specifically for plastic, I've tried hot glue, I've even tried spray adhesive in a moment of desperation. But nothing has worked, and I'm rather worried that I've now ruined the bust I was trying to alter. Does anything work on vinyl?
Eheh.. Well, there’s not much to say about him aside that I switched his elbows from the older single-jointed ones to the 50cm double-jointed elbows about a month or two ago. It took me about 2 to 3 hours sanding, widening and trimming the insides of his arms, sticks and holes for everything to fit and work. I would’ve finished earlier if I had a sander, PVC plastic pipe cutter and drill. All I had were the tools from a 9-piece gunpla tool kit and a craft knife. I’m glad the blade didn’t snap or splinter when I used it to widen inside of the torso and elbow joints. I want his head to be a Ringdoll Cryan head in Normal skin with the elf ear headcap.
The only 'glue' I can think that might work is a resin like the UV type or epoxy. I've never tried it, so it may also just peel off like it does from silicone or smoother plastics. If temporary is okay, some kind of clay may also work. This is a real pickle.
@mollym It's worth a try, anyway. I also ran across another website that suggested a vinyl repair kit, the kind you use for cars. Thank you for your advice. If nothing else, I guess I could just mummify it in masking tape.
I haven’t learned how to post pictures on here yet. I can on DollDreaming though! Are they all Haruka (including the mustached one, which I‘ve never seen before)?? My first Obitsu 60 came with that head. Let’s see if I can post the seller’s picture on here.. This is related, but I love discontinued dolls! You know, except for being unable to find replacement parts! I would love to add an Obitsu 55cm to my family. Would it be a boy or a girl? I want to add a second boy to my family. I could try adding the picture of my male 65 with his switched elbows too.. But not right now. I’m really busy.
Hello. I’m relatively new to the bjd hobby and even newer to the vinyl doll hobby. I bought my first Angel Philia 3 months ago brand new from mandarake. She’s a super whitey Mona and I’m absolutely in love with her. I’m having a lot of fun piecing together clothing and seeing what fits. I have some questions however. She came with three hands, with the gripping hands already attached. I’ve been doing some research on how to replace her hands. I’ve learned that you need to heat up her wrists with a blow dryer but you risk damaging the wrist if not warmed up enough. I’m super cautious with her since she’s so new and I don’t want to damage anything. I saw someone talking about their Dollfie Dream in a video. They mentioned buying extra wrist joints and keeping the hands on their own joints. This way all they need to do is slip out the wrist and replace that without removing the hand itself. Would this work with an Angel Philia? I don’t see why not but I don’t see anyone selling Angel Philia wrists. I’ve been doing some research and found two different links with wrist joints for sale. ☆ Cool Cat Collection Shop. Doll Accessories ☆ -- Internal Replacement Parts This store has Dollfie Dream wrist joints for sale. While they appear to be similar to an Angel Philia wrist joint, would they even be the correct size? [PARABOX Online shop]【doll replacement part】47cm/48cm/50cm body Wrist part - pair This store sells the obitsu wrist joint. While the Angel Philia uses this skeleton, I’m not sure if that’s what her wrist joint looks like. If this endeavor is possible and someone is able to point me in the right direction, the next concern is the color. She’s in the super whitey vinyl color which I believe isn’t too common. Would I even be able to find something in a similar color? Thanks.
My new baby made it home. She is an AP type K head. She came with two wigs as gift. I named her Tiffany. She is currently borrowing one of her sisters body.
For AP dolls, what size clothes do they wear? I want to purchase an outfit since right now I don't have time to make a lot, but just want to get the gal some nice clothes. Since the hips are wide, do SD 1/3 clothes fit them well? What size clothes do you guys think fit best for AP?
For clothes is a bit tricky. If your girl has small bust some MSD size shirt would fit her just fine. Mine wear SD size shirts because they have the huge bust. for pants and skirts I have them wear slim SD size clothing. The pants are very long sometimes. It is very hard to tell. My girls wear whatever it fits is a lot of trail and error. The dress my girl is wearing is actually a knee length SD size skirt. I modify it a little bit so he could wear it like a dress.
Thanks for your help! I'm gonna try out those sizes and see where it takes me. That skirt modification to dress is so clever!
I was going to buy a Azone another realistic character doll, but it’s hard to find clothes, she’s has a AZo2 G Bust
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice... My sister's 60cm Obitsu has suffered a mishap over Christmas and her inner plastic hip part (like a circle ring piece) has broken into several pieces and needs to be replaced. (see pic below) I have looked on HLJ where I have bought inner joints before but they no longer seem to stock the 60cm parts, and this part looks completely different on the 50cm doll. I am not sure what to do to in order to fix it. Can anyone suggest a stockist who might have the 60cm doll parts? Or a tutorial anywhere which might show how to modify the 50cm part to work in the older doll? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Yesterday, I asked Parabox if Gretel60 is being discontinued because I had noticed her blank heads were no longer posted on her character page. It turns out that she IS being discontinued as soon as her remaining hand-painted heads sell out. I'm really disappointed.. I am beating myself up big-time for not purchasing her blank back when she wasn't in danger of being discontinued! I hope to find her blank in good condition secondhand..
So, I'm acquiring a DD head on an Obitsu body, my question is...do obitsu bodies have removable hands? The 60cm ones. I've found conflicting information, and it's an older body.
Sadly they don't seem to have 60cm parts? I need these, [60RP-F01-32]Arm Parts 601 Left and Right White Skin Color | Doll Making Supplies, but can't find them and this website doesn't seem to be working? Will 50cm arms fit on a 60cm doll?
I'm not sure; though I don't know if they'd look proportionate even if they fit the skeleton. For an in depth repair question like this, you might actually have better luck on the DollDreaming forum, since they're strictly vinyl over there and have a whole Obitsu section. I'm sure some of them have experience with the old 60cm body.
I just got my 50cm Misuzu and was wondering what size of wig she wears. She's got the 50-02 head if that helps. Also looking for a wig cap for her and wondering if the silicone ones will work for her. Thanks!
According to an earlier post on this thread, it looks like Misuzu's head is 8 inches. I personally use cloth wig caps for all my vinyl dolls as I'm afraid the silicone ones might react with the vinyl over time. And if the wig dye bleeds, I've heard that there's a bigger chance of it seeping through a silicone wig cap than a cloth one.
Thank you for the information! I hate to take up more of your time but where would I be able to buy a cloth wig cap?
I usually use the ones from Volks. I see you're in the US. Here's the link on Volks US for their 7-8 inch cloth wig cap.
If you wanted to make me jealous, you succeeded ._. My next doll I want is an AP, and yours has the perfect fact. I really don't like the overly sexualized ones with wide open mouths, or tongues sticking out. Yours looks very nice!
Will DDL & DDdy Outfits work for Azone 50cm G Bust? I don't mind it being a little roomy, but wanted to make sure it wouldn't be huge either. I know she can wear Tenshi no Koromo DD outfits and the fit is decent (the one I tried was for SDGr/DDS/DD/DDdy) so I think it could work!
Gonna necromance this thread to share this photo of Starshine, my Gretel 60cm. She's a discounted secondhand find I picked up on ebay and did some light restoration work with when she arrived! I've always wanted a Gretel but, I was so afraid I'd never find one after the discontinuation, since I couldn't get one at the time. She's perfect and I love her Round 125 Scrap petticoat done! by Jules B, on Flickr
She is really cute! I've become quite fond of pink hair lately, and it really suits her! It's so nice that you were able to find a doll that you missed before
Starshine is absolutely gorgeous! What a soft and pleasent expression and I love that wig on her. I called my Gretel... Gretel! So original, I know. She's on an Impldoll resin body as pieces kept breaking off her original body and I couldn't find replacement parts. I was surprised at how similair the bodies are actually. Miss Gretel here needs a face-up but I just love her even when she's blank. She was the first BJD I ever tried to buy, although unfortunately I didn't get her back then as I didn't have any marketplace feedback!

Hi there! I recently obtained a beautiful Obitsu Gretel elf girl who is my first vinyl doll… unfortunately in my months of having her I have been unable to work out how to get her headcap off to change her eyes! I hope it is okay to ask here but does anyone know the best way to take it off? I keep trying to twist it round but it still doesn’t come loose… thank you in advance for any advice
@Jareth I pry it off by pressing my thumbnail gently into the crease where it sits against the other half of her head, and wiggle a bit until it comes loose. I think I remember from back in the day people laying a piece of ribbon or yarn down across the opening before replacing the headcap, to make it easier to just pull off - kind of like a tab!
So this is totally wild, but I was doing some googling to try and articulate something for somebody else's restoration project. And a previous owner photo of my girl came up, FROM THIS VERY THREAD, in 2017!! I did a double take, but it was indeed my ebay rescue girl, though she was in better shape when the photo was taken! It solved a mystery I'd never been able to figure out with her of why one of her knee joints is so much more firm than the other - turns out that joint was broken and replaced! It was honestly so wild to see my own doll in her heretofore completely unknown past lifetime, least of all in google image results for a completely different Obitsu sculpt! Kind of a Spiderman pointing at Spiderman meme moment, lmao. I'd like to do another photoshoot with her now that I'm living in a much more photogenic place, but I think I'll wait until I unpack some of my nice dolly outfits and change her clothes first.
This might be a long shot but I recently wanted to get back into the hobby after stepping a way for 10 years. I have an old 60 cm female Obitsu girly, she was my first and I'm really attached to her. Her elbow joint snapped years ago during one of the many moves I've had over the years and I never got around to replacing it because when it initially happened it was before they discontinued the body and the part was out of stock even then. I'm looking for any suggestions on how to give my girl her arm back or if anyone knows of where I can get this part.
Could you share a little more information on how the joint snapped? I've been playing around with the arms on my (much smaller) Obitsus and have found that certain bits can be replaced with DIY parts if you're ok with less mobility.
I probably shouldn't respond to this as I don't have enough experience to know what version you need (not familiar with obitsu from 10 years ago), but Hobby Link Japan and Hobby Search have SD Obitsu elbow parts (Parabox only has the new design and I think the Obitsu website--requires an agent like Tenso--is the same). Sometimes Dollyteria and Yahoo Japan/Japanese Mercari (I've only been able to use with Buyee) also have the parts. You might have better luck with sources and search terms on the Doll Dreaming Forum
Does someone know of resin matches to obitsu white? Most information I could find seems outdated. (I know about Luts peach)
