NYC Doll Con, March 1st & 2nd 2025

Jun 2, 2024

    1. Super excited for the con! Can’t believe we’re a month out!
@Mamo Good luck with your new accommodation!
In the event of poor weather, I would not recommend the walk, but up to you. Brooklyn can get icy with snow!
As for the hostel, standard common sense applies (e.g. keep belongings secured, etc).

    2. Weather dependent, I think that walk is doable even if quite long. You'd be able to swing by the Brooklyn Ball Factory (a cute and absolutely delicious Japanese cafe with amazing freshly made onigiri) and Larry's Ca Phe, a family owned Vietnamese coffee place on the way -- some of my favorite cafes in that area!

    3. @Serraphym THIS WAS GONNA BE MY NEXT QUESTION I'm so excited to try out food in the area!!!! Thank you for the recommendations, this is super helpful!!!!

    4. Would any know if there are after events for Saturday night or a discord or a FB group for the event ?

    5. @celis814 they have a facebook page under "NYC Doll Convention" where they post updates, same as their instagram @nycdollcon, but there doesn't seem to be a discussion group that I know of. I'd also be interested in evening hangouts! And potentially a Friday hangout as well!

    6. Hello! I won't be in town until Saturday morning but have nothing planned for Saturday night. I hope to run into you at the Con. I will have a clear backpack with pink edging and my Icon will be in it!

    7. Eyooo. I’ll be doing the stringing workshop with Bonelace! I’ll have my ningyoBINGO shirt on both days (I hand made two). Come say hi if you wanna! I will be meeting a local friend on Saturday likely afterwards, but I’m also curious if there are others in the Henry Norman hotel?

    8. The convention was very fun, I had a great time socializing and I enjoyed the panels I went to, and the backdrops especially the subway station one were AMAZING. I would definitely attend another event next year if possible. I want to say THANK YOU to the people in charge of running and organizing it, hosting the panels, etc (Tianba is so sweet!! I learned a lot in her panel and I am definitely excited to try attempting faceups again when the weather gets warm).

Also-- I am very happy to have been able to bring home a Muhan's Doll Puppy head from the raffle, I was honestly not expecting to be able to get him and being able to pick him out gave me so much joy. And I am very glad that I was able to support the con and the Wild Bird Fund with my tickets, as well as the vendors with their amazing work!! I think overall it was a fun weekend, and I am so glad this was an event that could happen.

    12. The convention was so much fun! I met so many cool people and I feel like I learned so much from the stringing and faceup tutorials! I also came home with my first blindbox doll, a floating head, and a new baby, all from trivia prizes and the raffle :D

I can’t wait to go back again!

    14. I just wanted to post here to say how incredible this experience was.

Everything for attendees felt very easy and well organized. I loved the experience of being a VIP attendee - walking around with my pigeon themed bag full of goodies was gleeful. The vendors were fantastic, the volunteers were amazing, and I made a ton of new friends and met some wonderful new ones. There were beautiful artisan made dioramas. (Shout out to seifey, who I talked to extensively and adored! She made the saloon and I’m in awe of her craftsmanship!)

You could truly feel that this was a labor of love and it was a building full of love and joy for a truly memorable weekend. If you’re looking for a con next year (hopefully!!!), I can’t recommend this enough. Just uh…bring money. Even if you think you don’t need a Cocoriang before you go, somehow the need will come over you anyway the moment you see them.

Also, if someone handed you or you found a small crocheted plushie on the free table (chicken, octopus, turtle, or frog), you have one of my lil fellas! I hope you love it!

    15. With the blessing of the NYC Doll Con staff, I present to you.... Social Connect! If anyone missed out on getting the socials of someone you met at the con, maybe you can find them here. Feel free to drop your own info as well!

      https://sgstoybox.carrd.co/#nycdollconconnect

Nothing on this form is required to fill out - but added info in what things you attended or your attendee status might help people find you more easily!

Please note that this is NOT an official NYC Doll Con form. It was put together by myself after a few people brought up forgetting to get contact info from people they met.

The information shared here is available to anyone with the link to the form so if you do not want to have that information publicly available, please do not include it. While this is mainly intended for social and web accounts, you are welcome to include phone/text/email at your own risk.

On Saturday the 8th of March at 9:00am EST, I will be doing a video review on the NingyoBINGO youtube page, covering photos, experience, ect.

I had an absolutely fabulous time. Three days later I still feel like I'm walking on air. Hell, I just filed my taxes, and I still feel fine.
