NO! Don't Do That!

Jul 26, 2010

    1. I basically just do what everyone else does even though we aren't supposed to.
I leave them in the sun, leave their clothes on all the time, same for wigs, I've modded three dolls using a dremel, I pick them up from whatever body part is convenient, I've actually tossed a few (onto a bed or pillow), one has fallen off a counter, I stretch their joints to show people the elastic cord inside, I've dropped their heads so many times, my dog chewed on one of their arms once (I fixed it and don't leave them where they can get to them now), most of them don't have wig caps...they just have their wigs.

The WORST thing I've done tho I regret so much and I don't do it anymore. Here it is... I used to glue their eyelashes on with nail glue and to get them back off to repaint them I would have to rip them off with tweezers then use an exacto knife to scrape off the remaining glue. I'm so sorry, but it's true. None of them ever got damaged but one still has some glue stuck to it. So trust me, don't use nail glue to apply the eyelashes...just don't :eusa_naug

    2. I'm usually very careful with my dolls. The only thing I do that I shouldn't is keep clothes and wigs on them all time. And some have no wig caps. .. should buy more.

The worst thing I did to my doll was when I left her unsupervised on the sofa and my cat nippled on her hand. Thank god it's just a tiny dent but it still makes me sad. Never ever I shall do that again.

    3. My dolls always have clothes & wigs on - most have wig caps. I do NOT store my dolls out of sight! They are sitting about in various groupings (my living room is basically furnished in 1:3 scale LOL) cause when I pay this much $$ I want to SEE them. I do have blackout curtains on all the windows, tho. I did it to save on heating bills but it really helps w/the dolls as well.

    4. On my last long car trip, I stuffed my class80 guy together with his sd brat into an sd carriage bag, without face protection. I swear I felt so guilty xD
Keeping them dressed all the time as well, no matter how beautiful their bodies are, I'd rather have them wrapped up in fancy clothes.
Once, my Eden backplanted so hard his eyes fell back in his head orz but he didn't get a single scratch from it, so the heart attack lasted for a few seconds only.
I don't protect their faces/bodies when Im making their wigs

      What drove me insane was, when a friend of mine tousled (my) dolls hair. Not even gently, just messed it up roughly, ignoring how delicate alpaca hair is, I mean, it took me days and nerves and tears to finish it, why'd you do that ;`n´;

    5. I use sealants that other bjd owners would probably prosecute me for XD It works well, gives a really neat realistic texture, isn't shiny, and it is near impossible to get off (pretty much only sanding, or joint wear).

I also touch their faces like crazy, especially when restringing. D:

    6. Like a lot of people here have mentioned, I leave my dolls dressed and they wear their wigs. Most of them don't have wig caps and most of my dolls wear black.

    8. I let my cat sit with my dolls, she only sniffs them and won't attack, but I know it freaks people out to have my cat in chewing distance. They do get a little furry though nothing a bit of brushing won't fix.

    9. i do a lot of things you arent supposed to do from taking my boy out in daylight to super gluing peircings on. i also use 100% acetone to remove dirt, stains, and faceups and havent had an issue yet. i do a test first of course and would never do those things on commission work, but i like experimenting with my dolls and seeing their limitations

    10. I keep my doll on my bed next to my pillow. I know its somewhat dangerous but... but.. its so nice to have him watching over my sleep ;D

The other is standing on my table which keeps moving and he fell once. Also when I was outside. Apparently, I don't care enough in some people's eyes but in my opinion a doll is supposed to be there for you. I like playing with them, having them around me (not on some stands) and taking them with me even if its a 24 hour journey in a small bus with a dozen of people.

    11. I use pure acetone too, though I originally got it to take off barbie/etc faces. I know it's supposed to be able to melt plastic and some resins, but I haven't had any mishaps with it yet ... *knocks on wood*
