I'm really looking forward to the heads arriving - I haven't had a Ninodoll since I had custody of a friend's Anna head for a few months (she didn't have a body for her and I had an SD13 body with no head, so I had a visiting doll) a couple of years back:


Is it really only a month between close of pre-order and the heads shipping?

She apologised for taking so long to get back to me, that was just over three hours ago, so she may still be getting around to replying to yours, or they may not have got through to her - it's impossible to tell.

Oh yeah, i forgot to say here, but i did get in contact with her in DOA and my bada is on it's way :3

 

Yay! My Shampoo head is on the way too.

 

And my Bada and Juri heads are already in the country (awaiting customs clearance, accordign to tracking)

Looks like we'll all get them about the same time - Yay!

Mine is too! At the airport right now, waiting for Customs to do their thing. Ugh.

Can't wait till she's home! Of course, she'll then have to go away again for face-up, but still. One step closer to having a new doll!

 

Same here - although I also have the unenviable task of trying to decide which of the two heads will be the one that gets used/kept, and whether I keep the other head (and start saving for a body) or sell on the one that isn't right for the current project.

Hehe :3 yeah, it's awesome if we all get them at the same time. And I'm trying to faceup the bada as a girl, since I think bada would look very cute girl. :3

 

I think you're right - I couldn't decide between Bada and Juri for the girl I'm currently putting together so ordered both heads... we will see which one works best for this particular character (I don't have a good track-record for dolls conforming to pre-decided characters - most of mine the doll comes first and they let me know their characters as I get to know them).

The body is here, already dressed (an oufit that will do for now, but will need to be replaced with a more correct version of the outfit if the character works - more sewing for me), and waiting to see whether Juri or Bada works best for her.

In theory it will be a case of keeping the head that works best and selling-on the other one.

Yay, mine is here! I just LOVE her on the Dollstown body. The resin match seems slightly off, as far as I can tell in this evening light, but nothing a bit of proper blushing won't fix. Now all I need is my Taobao order here to dress her a bit better and of course for her to have a face-up... and a name!

Mine have just reached the local depot so I need to call and pay the Customs charges before they'll deliver them (tomorrow or - more likely - Monday....I'll bring the body, wig and eyes in to work with me so I can try both heads on it straight away and see if I'm any more decided between Bada and Juri for this girl.

Any sign of yours yet, Kihaku....?

I had a Bada head awhile ago, but sold it and then repurchased a new one shortly after since the preorder period was open (about 2 pre-orders ago I think?). Hoping to get her a girl body since I actually want mine as a girl. I'm thinking of putting her on the Loongsoul 58CM girl body in Normal-Yellow. If anyone has other recommendations for good posing female bodies around 60cm that would match I'd love to hear about them!

Here's a photo of the old head I had! I plan on giving/commissioning a more dramatic faceup though for the new head. I wish I'd gotten the wig in a smaller size as it's a bit lose on her head, but I didn't actually buy it for her, she just stole it and looked cute with it! :3

Ransom Demand was minimal (over half of the amount will be admin charges, rather than actual Customs charges - which is the annoying part)

Since they're coming to my workplace it will probably be tomorrow for delivery, but Monday before the internal-post system gets the package to my desk.

Same here - more than half of the fee consisted of admin charges. Urgh.

Aaaaaand I just checked the resin match again this morning in daylight and it's almost spot on! The difference is really minimal, hardly noticable, hurrah! No blushing to match necessary at all. I'll be sending her off for her face-up tomorrow, and in the meantime I am going to hunt down some eyes for her and possibly a wig, if I see anything I like. If nothing catches my eye, she'll be sharing wigs with my Supia Rosy.

The heads arrived at my desk about half an hour ago and (since the managers are away) I've been very naughty and tried both on the body and am STILL having trouble deciding between them...

I've painted the Juri head - here she is when I had her beside her (potential) younger sister Peggy (RML K-01 head on Dollstown Elf body):


The Bada head didn't come out nearly so well - it needs wiping and will have to wait until I have a chance to repaint it so I can do the same compatibility test with Peggy and choose whether Juri or Bada will become my Nancy.

Well, it looks like the fates have decided for me

My second attempt at painting the Bada head came out beautifully... right up to the final coat of MSC, whihc turned out to be the end of the can, and it spluttered out with lumps. Everywhere the lumps hit softened all the layers so they took all the blush and paint off in patches in those areas... that's the second complete wipe-and-restart the Bada head has needed so I think the Fates are trying to tell me that the Juri head is the one destined to be my Nancy.

I've got more MSC on order, but it's coming from the Far-East, by sea, so will take a while to reach me. Perhaps, now the decision has been made, the curse will have lifted by the time the MSC arrives and I can successfully paint Bada to see how the head comes out... of course, that might mean I want to keep it instead of selling it on, which will mean getting a body for it - but those are the risks you take, right?

That Juri head is so gorgeous. I have been wanting to see an owner picture.

 

It is a lovely sculpt.

The Bada is a nice one too - but I think mine is jinxed - After waiting for more MSC to reach me (by sea since the can't aerosols by air and nowhere local had stocks), I've had two more disastrous attempts to give it a face-up. The first tone, I grabbed the head from where it's been waiting since I cleaned the previous one off, took it outside and sprayed it with a couple of initial coats of MSC... only to realise as the light caught it, that it had acquired a fine layer of dust, which I had now neatly sealed under two layers of MSC.

Cleaned off and resprayed I got down to the next attempt, which just came out too awful to keep. The head is now cleaned and resprayed ready for another attempt but I'm beginning to lose hope for this head.

I still haven't done a successful faceup on the Bada head. I'm hoping that, now I have a body for it, the "curse" will be broken and attempt number four will work, but I haven't had time to work on a faceup since the body arrived, and might not have time to do it before September rolls around.

Hoping to revive this thread!
I love Ninodoll sculpts, and am planning on getting a Bada next time they are released. Any advice on what body to put him on? I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what would work... There doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about these dolls.

Today I received a body for the Bada head which arrived on Monday...meet Bertie! (His little friend and partner-in-crime in the picture is Anais, who is a Volks Anais - funnily enough...)


He's turned out a perfect, if very naughty looking, little boy - I think he's persuading her to take part in some mischief or other!

He's called Bobbin (short for Roberto) and I have him on a Volks SD10 (two-part torso, long-leg) boy body. He was painted by MadamMauMau

Does anyone have a comparison of Ninodoll and Dollzone Normal Yellow skin?

 

Considering the new DD head came out recently I want to bump this thread. I ordered him, anyone else also get the new head?

 

@KiwiNinamori I ordered the Smile DD head. Trying to find information on what bodies the head would look good on but no luck

 

In terms of colour match Volks normalskin and DollsTown Oriental skin work.

In terms of size, I don't have the Smile head but it would probably work with quite a lot of bodies in the SD size range.

I have Bada on SD10 boy body but it would also work on SD13 boy or girl and, I think, on SD16 boy in terms of proportions (but not in relative age of body-to-face-sculpt in the case of Bada, which always looks very young to me - the Smile sculpt looks like it could go a lot older - or younger - depending on faceup).

I have Juri on DollsTown 13Year girl body, which makes her bigger and sturdier than any of my other SD sizerange BJD, though smaller than my husband's SD16 and Limhwa Mano boys.

For the report: made an order on December 7 sent on January 14. It is really very fast ... At another company where I ordered only the head, I waited for more than 6 months.

A few months went to the author in anticipation of pre-order. Her last made head is a prototype of a living person who I really like)) Therefore, I could not get past him.

Is anybody considering buying during this pre-order? I am looking at Yuya as a possibility. I had originally decided to get Supiadoll Zion, but I think he will have to wait a little.

 

I'm tempted by the Smile head but I already have a Shampoo I haven't got a body for, and I really have no need for a larger SD sized boy. I don't know if the Smile head would fit well on a girl body (although I've no doubt it could be painted as a girl)

I have seen hybrids of different heads on girl bodies, so I think it could be done. The only thing is that the Smile head is listeds as SD17, so you'd need quite a big girl body for that.
I am sort of hesitant about planning for two SD size boys, tbh. I own vinyls in that size and they're obviously a lot lighter to carry around, but the size is still a little struggle when it comes to carriers/bags.

 

The DollsTown 13 girl body is bigger/chunkier than the average SD girl body (I have the Juri head on one) but I wouldn't want to go any bigger than that.

On the whole I think I'd better skip it this time around since I don't want yet anohter floating Ninodoll head added to the collection. I really must sort something about the Shampoo head first.

The problem is that I like smiley sculpts so much that Ninodoll heads are hard to resist.

It doesn't bother me, and I spent part of my Christmas break making a padded bag witha quilted lining that I can carry up to four SD size dolls in (plus some smaller ones) for meets. If i want to take more I use a wheelie suitcase instead.

I used to own a Ninodoll head...I think it was an Umpyo?...many years ago and I had it on a Domuya body (remember those!?), but I think that sculpt didn't really speak to me. I am fairly certain I want an SD size boy, but I am still unclear if he should be alone of have a friend/brother. Maybe that's why I can decide if I should jump on this pre-order or not.

Towing a suitcase around isn't really an option for me. I don't go to a lot of doll meets anymore, for one. And I generally only like bringing one doll for photographs, when I am out and about. I do have a backpack that fits two SD size vinyl dolls, so one resin should probably work for that.

 

Sounds like it - Probably best to hold off until you're sure what you're aiming for. There will be more pre-order periods after all.

We're direct opposites - I've been known to haul up to thirty BJD to a doll meet and three or four to conventions and other non-doll events.

Wow, amazing! I love seeing everyone's collections when I do go to meets, but I think at the most I've brought 3 dolls and then it would usually be one big and two smaller.
