They're here! And as it turns out, I don't need those blank heads, the plates and the hair have everything I need. The cream heads don't quite match though. It is a bit like NY heads on NP bodies, but not too bad. The hair will need a bit of modding and they'll all need clothes, but soon everyone will be looking just right. And I am glad I ordered that extra body now. I should have known, I don't like BJDs sharing bodies either. I didn't think I would collect dolls besides BJDs, but these guys are super cute, and so poseable. I know it is hard to cancel an order, but what are the consequences of simply letting the time run out on an order? Would they block me from ordering anything else? I probably won't order from them again, but it's good to know just in case.
@iamkathybrown most likely you would be blocked from ordering, but maybe you could write an email explaining your need to cancel. I did that with Hobby Search when a pre order I made was coming due and I had a unforeseen financial crisis and couldn’t pay. Since I had been a good customer for years, they let me cancel. Your Nendoroid doll crew is so cute! I really like the cinnamon color. Now I’m getting impatient to put all mine together!
@kurogane Okay, I sent a message. I've only purchased these bodies and hands from them, so I don't have the same amount of goodwill, but you never know. EDIT: They cancelled it. Whew! And thanks for the compliment!
I finally got my duplicate Sasuke, so I took a quick comparison photo. He's still in his box, because now I' not sure if I want to unbox him, or compare him to the original release to check which box is in better condition. DX I'm weird, I know. Regardless of that, the cream body and hands don't match Sasuke either, so that means they won't match Itachi (I never unboxed either one, but from GoodSmile promo photos, both brothers are the same exact color). I guess that means it's a great thing I pre-ordered that blank head after all. I'm still going to try Sasuke on the cream body once I open one of my two. The peach might have been a better match for him, but I don't want to keep buying parts if they are not that great of a match in the end. Hope this helps anyone thinking about getting a body for Sasuke or Itachi.
Thanks @Enzyme for the comparison photo. The peach and cream bodies are just a little off for most Nendoroid heads. Weird, right? Sigh. I got a new Nendoroid Hizamaru to make a custom character and put him on one of my peach bodies. I knew it wouldn’t match, but the odd thing is, the head looks better on the peach than the cream. However, the bright side is that with clothing you can’t hardly tell the difference. I will take photos once I get the jacket and pants sewn. Still have no idea about shoes.
@Enzyme wow the color is super different! i am curious to see the color difference between all of your sasuke and itachi nendos! finally had a moment to take a picture of my only complete nedoroid doll! renge miyauchi from non non biyori! shown here being held by kagamine len dd! other than her i haven’t done much with my nendoroid dolls. there is one peach boy body and a cream girl and boy that still need heads! i might go the facemaker route to get them heads, but i am nervous about using a proxy service! anybody have any advice?
@c4tbus It turned out super easy for me, a few hiccups with the buttons aside! I just wish I could figure out how to save faces. I want to get more expressions at some point and it would really speed up the process.
Yes, I’m interested in a proxy too. I’ve looked into DeJapan, but any others would be welcomed. @c4tbus So cute! I see you got one of the kindergarten outfits. Your Kagamine Len is very nice too. I’m trying to sew outfits for mine. So far they all have swim trunks, ha ha. I still have two bodies that are waiting for heads. That makes five total. But I want more. Lots more!
@kurogane i was looking at dejapan too! they have a very helpful guide on how to create an account and i used it to start playing with the face maker. and thanks! i got two of the kindergarten sets, and have used the other one on my obitsu11. the shoes are a little small, but they squish ok, but the rest fits him perfectly.
Kurogane, yes, it's weird how none of the bodies seem to match most any Nendoroid? I was thinking it might match the Petite Renewal Kaito I got, but I didn't compare them at the time I took the photos. They seem to be about the same brightness and tone. Maybe the cream bodies match the Vocaloid Nendos, which I don't normally collect but I have a fondness of the petite boy ones (good thing there's only two boys in petite renewal form). (: C4tbus, it is very differrent. I was hoping Sasuke would at least be as bright as the cream, but he seems to be a lot more of a dull yellow-ish tanned color. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find both Itachi and original release Sasuke to take comparsions, I'll definietly won't be opening all, but I will try to take photos if I can. (: I love your Len, he is so pretty and your little miyauchi is adorable as well. ^ ^
@iamkathybrown it is very comforting to know that others were able to use the service successfully! @kurogane me too! i’m gonna finish some faces and order them !!! @Enzyme thanks very much! and good luck with your uchiha boys! edit: today i ordered four faces from the face maker! two of them are versions of existing characters, and two are for the same oc to have multiple expressions! now time to cross my fingers and hope i did everything right!
I got the hair painted! It is a bit messy and the black needs another layer, but it will do for now and I'll seal them soon. Just waiting on that body, if it doesn't get lost. I regret not getting tracking...
Thank you! I was able to find which box original release Sasuke's in, but I unfortunately thought it was a good idea to put him inside a box with PAK figure, that happens to be massive and under a bunch of other boxes. I'm probably going to wait until it cools down here a bit before attempting to remove the box, to finally compare the two. I thought I'll find Itachi, but I don't really mind as I have no plans to place Itachi on a doll body, even if they do re-release him as well. Good luck with your custom face plates. (: Iamkathybrown, your custom faces and hair are looking really cute! I hope your additional body gets to you soon without trouble. n__n
just saw on instagram that a new doll body color will be released. ‘almond milk’ looks like it might match up better with quite a few faceplates. Good Smile Company on Instagram: “A brand new color, Almond Milk, is coming to the Nendoroid Doll line! Stay tuned for more info coming soon! Gallery:…”
Yay! Another skin color. I might just get one just to have all the options. But I’m NOT going to replace all my guys bodies if the new color matches better. I already spent enough! Annnnd I just bought two more Nendoroids to hybridize, with another on pre order. I’ve discovered that making characters is a lot easier (cheaper) with Nendoroids as compared to bjds.
I've gotten a few Nendoroid dolls since their release, mostly through Amiami. As soon as I got the peach body, I put an Anna (you know, the one from Frozen, haha) faceplate on it, and I've had it on my desktop since then... I never really noticed the color match was a shade off until I read the posts here! I'm glad they're going to release another shade that will hopefully match many of their classic Nendoroid figures more, but also a little bummed that it's another shade of pale.
Talking of skin mismatch... I have one of the cinnamon bodies and got the Archer Nendoroid. The colors are waaaaaay off. His head is like dark chocolate and the body is milk chocolate. I think I’m going to try a dye the body darker. Or find another head. Dyeing is cheaper, lol. Went to The Chibi Chop Shop and found a couple of Toru faceplates that are closer to cinnamon. Since I already have Conan, might as well have Toru. I also found Link’s hair from BOTW so I can have Link on a Cu-poche body. The army is still growing! Also I’m making a custom Senku Nendoroid doll from Dr Stone. I got his hair repainted and just need to make his lab coat. Not to mention I need to sew clothes for six guys so far.....
Ugh, clothes. Mine are still nude. I am not used to buying clothes for tinies at all (my one tiny wears pretty homey stuff that is supposed to look handmade) and whenever I window shop, I close the tab because I am sure I can make those things myself. I really need to finally put my money where my mouth is. Also, I just happened to be browsing the Chop Shop and next thing I know I am buying one of them replacement hair which I decided was a better fit. Only, I had to leave my primer and sealant for painting hair behind when I moved. Looks like I'll probably have to stick to brush-on sealant or something...
Ooh a thread for these little guys! Here's the chibi version of one of my and my fiance's joint OCs, Monster. I need to find him some shoes and take in his clothes a little, they're a touch baggy. WP_20190511_22_14_17_Rich by Liz, on Flickr My fiance wants in on the chibi-action too and is planning on getting together the parts he needs to make one of his favourite OCs, she's currently juts a floating head in BJD form, but given that we're paying off a mortgage, Nendoroid bits and pieces are far more affordable than an SD body.
@Quiet and Insane monster is so cute! i love the outfit! it looks super cosy! i just wanted to pop back in to share that all of my custom face plates and chibi chop shop hair pieces have arrived, so i have a head for every body now! here is the full crew (plus an obitsu 11)! (left to right: cream unnamed oc, cream custom hatsune miku, custom obitsu 11 w/ parabox bear head, peach custom azumane asahi, peach renge miyauchi)
So do you guys just order all this stuff straight from Goodsmile? I kind of want one of the suits they have out but the places I usually go to buy toys aren't getting all the doll stuff and accessories. Clothes has been hard for me too. I can't make anything, and John wears stuff that I can't find anywhere. It's not been super easy. I managed to order some from Etsy, but since he's not a fluffy dress-wearer, or a sportswear guy there isn't a lot available. Even the suit from GS doesn't really work for me since the shirt, vest and tie are all together, and they don't have black available, but it's something (and I will totally dye one of them black anyway)
@Quiet and Insane Monster is so cute! @c4tbus chibi cuteness! They are all just so adorable! Love your custom faceplates. I really need to try that. Guess I need to take a picture of my crew too!
@kurogane thanks! the dejapan service was great! it went so smoothly !! if you do order some please share! it’s exciting to see what every one is coming up with !! @VampireAngel13 goodsmile is great to order from directly! they only make you pay shipping once per order, ¥2,000 to the usa, even if you ordered multiple things that ship separately. it’s also often the fastest way to get pre-orders, since they are shipping it directly instead of through another company. there is also a pretty wide selection of obitsu 11 clothes on yahoo!japan auctions in case you haven’t checked there yet!
@c4tbus That's great! Thank you for letting me know, I was wondering...I've never ordered directly from them before. And I need a suit. I need a lot of things, but especially a suit XD
If you're in the US or Canada, you can also order nendoroid parts and clothes from the goodsmile US store: Nendoroid They do have suit sets on preorder right now, although the delivery date is waaaaaaay out there!
Yeah, like March of 2020...... Anyway, thanks for another place to look at. Just look, no buy. This little plastic army has stolen all my money!
@c4tbus - Thank you! They're supposedly for Obitsu11 but they seem a little too big? Though I've never actually seen an Obitsu11 in person so I have no idea. Either way, this works really well for my little guy. He's supposed to look like a cuddly sort of...creature. Your collection is so cute!! @kurogane - Thank you!
@Quiet and Insane yeah, the obitsu bodies are a touch bigger than the nendo dolls, but i have found that most obitsu 11 clothes are a little oversized anyways! also, my hand slipped and i ordered a cinnamon body +customizable head to make an asra (from the arcana visual novel) doll that i was thinking about shelling as a bjd! maybe this will help sate my unending hunger .... also has anyone played with the customizable heads yet? i was planning to make a fiber wig directly on the head piece.
Ooh that makes more sense now! Not to worry though, I figured that given his character is based off an oddly shaped creature baggy clothes are not such a problem. My fiance agrees and would now like to try making one for himself! I'd definitely like to try making a wig for one of those customisable heads! Would be rather fun. At least in theory.
@Quiet and Insane yeah, the super baggy looks really cute on him! i love his lil teeny feet and hands sticking out too, it really completes the look !! i feel like making a wig on the custom heads will be like using a hard wig cap that is in 2 parts? i might drill a hole in both sides and put a string to grab when pulling the pieces apart tho !! i worry about my nendoroid face changing technique being too rough for a handmade wig !!
@c4tbus - Thank you! He's just so adorable. Sometimes I'll send random photos of him to my fiance while he's at work and he thinks they're so stupidly adorable. I just can't help but grin like mad, he's so cute. That's a neat I idea! I do have a doll with a very small head and faceplates who has a hardcap wig too, though I just remove it to change his faceplates. Though your system might make changing over much faster.
Wendy on Instagram: “It’s almost a new year! #ob11 #ob11doll #ob11clothes #sweater #minisweater #miniaturesweater #miniature #miniatures #tinyclothes #handmade…” My baby with custom handmade head ^.^
Oh nice, didn't know there was a thread for these! It's already been mentioned but I'm still salty at how peach is a total miss for most existing nendo skin tones. The lighting in the promo photos made it seem much lighter than it is in person. When I received the peach bodies I ordered from GSC during the initial release last year, I was shocked at how orange they were. I kept one hoping it might match McCree, but turns out he's slightly darker so it's workable but still not an exact match. Almond milk is looking like a much better match for the average nendo, so here's hoping! I have almond milk and cream boy bodies on preorder from Amiami, so I'll definitely be taking lots of head/body comparison photos for reference once they arrive.
I've been looking into getting some of these little guys - I think I can manage making/finding clothes for them but I'm more worried about shoes. Anyone have any advice?
Pico Nemo shoes fit, while the Obitsu 11cm are way too big. You can find the Pico Nemo shoes at AmiAmi, when they are in stock. The feet are very tiny on the Nendoroid dolls!
Make sure that you're buying regular Picco Neemo and not Picco Neemo D shoes, though! Picco Neemo D dolls have big oversized cartoony feet and their shoes are much bigger.
Oh no...I want 1000... I’ve always loved Nendos, but didn’t get anyone because of the linited posability and stuff but these...these are perfect. Amiami has the archetype bodies listed as preorder right now, with a release date in December. Does anyone know if this is a rerelease or something? Do they only do limited batches? Edit: Never mind, eheh... Chibi Chop Shop has my back. I may finally get the tiny posable Noiz I’ve always wanted...
Got my first body, was playing around with my other toys and figured out that the Disney Princess Little Kingdom props are a perfect fit, and some of the the upper skirts and capes make cute scarves. Saitama was not happy about being used to demonstrate these... Someday when I have spare cash I'm gonna order some custom faceplates for her, but for now I'll use her as a model to make clothes for everyone.
Ahh, of course all the pieces I want come up for sale in Chibi Chop Shop when I don’t have any extra money... I hope nobody gets them before I cat snatch them up. Then I’ll just need to get a body~ I’m really excited to have one of these little guys. Has anyone sewn any clothes for the Nendo dolls? How small are they, really? I’ve been debating how I’m gonna make the clothes for my guy, because they’re fairly detailed and I’ve never been great at sewing on a small scale. Any tips?
Ah sewing for Nendoroids, yes it is tiny work. Some can be done on the machine but most by hand, it's like sewing for Pukipukis and Picco Neemo dolls and they fit about the same. Picco Neemo, and Obistu 11cm clothes fit the Nendoroids. The Picco Neemo clothes with short sleeves and cropped pants or shorts fit best. Good Smile put out a pattern book, which is in Japanese but the how-to photos are self explanatory.
@SteamWitch Thanks so much for the tips! I may see if I can find some simple Picco Neemo or similar clothes to add things to... Has anyone used iron on paper or similar things for clothes? Spoiler: This is what I’ll be making! Kōtarō Bokuto/Image Gallery
@KiyoshiSenshi i don’t have any advice for making this size of clothing because i still haven’t been brave enough to try it out myself, but i love haikyuu!! and am cheering you on! are you just doing bokuto? or akaashi too?
@c4tbus Whoo! Haikyuu is my favorite anime~ Right now I’m just planning Bokuto, but I’d love to have both of them. Kuroo and Kenma too! And Tsukki...and maybe Kageyama...and Ushiwaka... I like a lot of HQ characters! I’ll definitely get all the regular Nendos at some point, so I might just have a couple doll bodies and switch the heads around.
@KiyoshiSenshi haha! that sounds about right. they are so hard to resist. i very intentionally only got my fave boy because once the floodgate opens a little it is hard to stop! good idea to have them share doll bodies! i’m getting super pumped now on making asahi his volleyball uniform! if i find success i’ll share what i learn !!!
I found out some of the dresses from the old Equestria Girls dolls can fit Nendoroid dolls - the short dresses look like ballgowns, but it works. Pics on my Instagram here. Also, for doll clothes patterns I'd recommend DGRequiem on Etsy. I've used her patterns for Monster/EverAfter High before and they're really good! She doesn't have anything for 11cm size yet, but some of the 16cm might work with modification and it's a good base to start with. You could always ask her for tips on sizing down the patterns too.
DGRequiem's sizing charts - if you click on Tiny BJD there is Obitsu 11 measurements and sizing instructions. Might try it out myself and report back when I get a chance.
My body finally has a head! ...It's not actually the head that goes with this body, but it's the first head I got out of my 4 planned doll characters so she's using it temporary. I also went to a miniatures shop and found some clothes/shoes that actually fit! Pics on my instagram here: Allyson Nagle on Instagram: “Found some nendoroid doll sized clothes and shoes at Ron's miniature shop in Orlando! #nendoroid #nendoroiddoll #nendoroiddollclothes…”
Nugget and Ogi by SteamWitch, on Flickr Ogi is a favorite! His faceplate is Zeyan Li, waiting on his new blushing faceplate.
I recently purchased a Piccodo Body9 (Tanned) for my custom Nendoroid (Almond) head. I have to say I'm over the moon with the quality of the body. I'm sad they were discontinued, as they really come in handy because you don't need to modify the headpiece like you do with an Obitsu 11. You can just pop on the Nendoroid plate and it fits like a charm. In the end... The legs are a bit thicker than Obitsu 11, but I had no problem dressing him in Obitsu 11 clothes I already had on hand. The feet are also a bit larger, but they had no problem slipping into Obitsu 11 shoes, but I will need to check how they fair with Lati Yellow. It was also nice the feet come with magnets automatically (but no extra hands - that isn't a problem for me though). I'm happy I no longer have to dye my Obitsu 11s as this was a much faster and better alternative. Now if only these dolls would come back into print (but I grabbed a few extras so it's not all that bad). Clothes come from sold-out vendors on AliExpress, but the Leather pants (Ob11 size) come from Ninmal.net Next will be modeling Raumi's hair with Sculpy and then this figure will be fully complete (but I wanted to share the body alternative).
Say, guys. How do you get rid of stains? Long story short, the hair coloring didn't go as well as I hoped and left unexpected consequences.
@iamkathybrown for stains on plastic/vinyl I use benzoyl peroxide in the form of zit cream. I get the extra strong over the counter cream. I put a glob of cream over the stain and leave it to dry, then wash off and repeat as many times as needed. You can also cover the cream with cling wrap and leave it on for days. The stain will slowly disappear. I’ve read that heat helps the peroxide work better and it does. I had a Dollfie Dream that had dark black stains on her feet and it took a couple weeks to get the stains to where you could barely see them. I don’t know if you can use acetone. I know that is used to remove face ups on monster high dolls, but for large areas, I just don’t know how it would react over time.
I loooooooooooove Nendoroid Dolls. They are just so darn cute and addictive! I have two so far: Yune and Phichit. The bodies (milk and cinnamon) are a pretty good match for these two. I've also preordered GSC's latest pattern book. Can't wait to give it a try. The Halloween costumes and raincoats look adorable!
