Narae/Narin 43/44cm Mini Discussion Part 7

Apr 9, 2018

    1. Quick question. My new fusion body apparently had a loose magnet in one of the wrist joints. I found that out when it popped out of the wrist joint and is now inside the hand, pretty securely magnetised to the hand magnet.

Has anyone had this happen to them before and if so, how did you get the extra magnet out of the hand. Because that's proving really difficult.

    2. If you have some larger magnets, they should be able to pull it out.

    3. I have a narae 404 when Bimong was using D Storic for casting, she’s Korea ivory resin. I’m wonder if anyone else has one in this color and maybe a newer one to compare the resin colors with? I want to buy a second narae eventually and I’m just curious as to what they’ll look like next to eachother XD

    4. This is probably not entirely accurate since I don't have a newest resin from Bimong and D-storic resin seemed to vary a lot -like really from very pink to very yellow until they split the tones into pink and yellow. But I have a D-storic Korea ivory yellow Narae from 2011 and a Bimong oriental skin Narin from 2019. According to him (and his comparison picture) oriental skin is closest to classic normal -which he still offers, but it's probably a bit pinker.

This photo is from 2019 when the Narin arrived:
      oriental -> d-storic yellow ivory

So uhh yeah, depends on what tone your d-storic era Narae is and what you choose for the new skin tone? The new normal is definitely darker cause it's made to match fairyland.

    5. Yeah, I bought a full doll and a few heads from D-storic between 2012 to early 2013, all "Korea Ivory" resin and none of them match each other.

Here's a comparison of them with a head casted by Bimong himself from 2014:

I have a blog entry with more photos here. Unfortunately I don't have any newer dolls to compare to as Bimong has stopped producing the Classic bodies that I liked, so I haven't bought any dolls from him recently. I'd eventually like to get some more hand parts, though, so I'm also wondering which one of his current colours would match my D-storic November 2012 Narae. She was kind of in-between the Yellow and Pink colours that D-storic offered, although naturally she has yellowed over the years. :sweat

    7. @marxwyn Thank you for the picture. I see, it is actually lighter and more yellow than the new skin. I am a bit picky when it comes to skin matches and this one just isn't for me. I'll keep searching for a N402 or N40S in new normal ^^

    8. Hi there

My Bimong Cocoro is on the way.
She is on the 38cm fusion body.
For anyone who has this body - does she fit MSD or YOSD clothing best? Or a mixture of both?

    9. For me I find she fits best in clothes made for smaller MSD like minifee. YoSd you'll struggle with length even if the width isn't bad, while standard MSD is probably going to run a little big. A lot of Minifee or Unoa sized clothes fit well though in my experience.

    10. Hi! I have been trying to find any references but have been coming up short. Does anyone know if the bimong tan matches the FL tan resin at all, or what the comparisons are? :)

      • x 1
    11. @Peachy

I asked almost the exact same question last year! Someone responded to my thread here with some really helpful photo refs. The tldr is that bimong's new tan is for sure a lighter, more yellow colour than the fairyland tan, which is darker and more reddish, but could feasibly be blushed to match.

    12. Hello.
I bought a bimong fushion Narae N404 on a 41cm in new normal. But me and the head doesn't really vibe. Do anyone know what doll head would fit? I can blush to match if the color isn't too off.

    13. I think the neck size is around 7cm--I believe unoa and minifee are both common hybrids with the fusion body, though I think minifee needs a neck connector of some kind to be compatible

    14. Oh, thank you! I have always wanted a decadent Unoa, this might be the perfect opportunity to get one if the second hand market allows...

    15. Hey all! I keep trying to find visual examples of how the 41cm Fusion three part torso does for posing?

Bimong is retiring at the end of November so it's sort of made me actively research to buy a Bimong/Narae body for hybrid! Bonus points if anyone has any recent information on MNF/Fusion Body hybrids :)

      • x 2
    16. Jumping in to say I'd also love some hybrid information for the resin he will be releasing for the retirement sale. Any company, not just FL. I really want an excuse to buy the giant boy body xD

    17. The 41cm 3 part torso body is awesome! I was mainly trying ballet poses. Is there some pose you would like me to try?

    18. Oh wow, if you're doing ballet poses and you think it's awesome I think I'm sold just by that! I was worried because sometimes the three part torsos look posable but in reality aren't (not that I doubt Bimong and his track record of doll poseability, just wanted to be sure!)

I'm mostly interested in more natural poses like knees to the chest, kneeling, etc. But I'm open to any you can provide!

    19. @twylight - I owned one of the 41cm fusion bodies for a while - they are very nice! If I recall correctly, the "knees to the chest" (one of my favorite poses) works beautifully. They can kneel as well, but I don't think the calves can actually touch the backs of the thighs (in other words, they can kneel but can't quite achieve the classic "seiza" pose).

Just wanted to let you know in case that's an important pose for you.

      Edited to add:
I'm so mad at Instagram right now. I used to be able to suggest it for photo-hunting and there were lots of wonderful posing photos of many different dolls! You can still go to Bimong's page and check the "Tagged" button for owner photos, which will include various poses, but it isn't as easy as just being able to search tags by itself (if you try, you'll only get a limited number of images back).

But I would also suggest trying Flickr for Fusion body poses. There might be some good examples there!

      • x 3
    20. @StellaMarigold Thank you so much! :D I don't so much need the poses to be perfect, just that they have some flexibility in those joints to do an approximation, although the knees to chest is so amazing. I don't currently have a doll that can do that and look natural, so I'm using it as my new metric!

Now I just need to find resin comparisons. It's so much harder these days it seems because so few people use flickr anymore and I share your frustration with Instagram, it has changed the tagging algorithm so much it is very hard to find things!:(

    21. I have the 38cm body with the 3 part torso and I can confirm that they're absolutely fabulous posers with the one minor caveat that you may have to fiddle with the stringing to get them to perform at their best. My 38cm girl is very tightly strung which means getting her to hold poses is a bit more of a battle, even with the silicone rings in the joints, but she's very capable of it.

She's absolutely my best for standing with flat feet. I had her in actual metal armour for a recent convention and it only altered her centre of gravity a little bit

I also have this photograph which is her fake-tying her shoes. Bearing in mind she's got a shirt, gambeson and trousers on, not only did I not have to undress her to get her hip to shift but she's still bending really well

    22. Hi, does anyone know if Classic NS resin has any matches with other brand bodies? I have Classic skin Neo SM full doll and I'm debating if I afford to buy a full boy and a girl from Bimong before the final sale ends.

    23. He has offered payments on Instagram. That might make it easier.

    24. I don't know if this would help as my "Classic Normal" Dandelion head didn't quite match the newer Classic color - but I'm posting anyway, just in case!

Please note that I made an error in the photo - the hand is Doll Legend NS, not WS!

    25. @Crissaegrim OMG she's amazing! That's amazing mobility!

I don't suppose anyone knows which resin tone would look best with FL? >.> I saw an image of the new normal with a recent FL head and the Bimong New Normal was *so pink* in comparison.

    26. @twylight classic ns is your best bet for older FL. here is comparison with my aged Alan.

@xaya I find classic ns match with most dolls in my collection. It is on yellower side compared to pinkish of new normal. LM, luts, withdoll,, even my few years old Minifee Alan (from when he first released) I might have to check souldoll and dollzone first, can't be sure.

    27. @marxwyn That's exactly what I need! Thank you! I'm sadly trying to match a more current Iset who's *much* pinker than my older MNF, but I still think the Old tone would be closer and easier to match than the New one. Thank you so much!

    28. I have a recent Littlefee and a recent classic normal body. The head is off for a faceup. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.

    29. OMG thank you all for helping! :frownyblush: I feel so humbled by your generosity of time and effort!

    30. Does anyone have a picture of the pink resin tone? I want to show someone but I can't find it since he deleted a lot of his posts. I'm trying so hard to afford two dolls, but I just don't think I can. Choosing one is going to be hard. I asked for some special skin tones in DM and he is making me say what they are instead of telling me lol! I think it feels like a 'need to know' thing so he doesn't get overwhelmed. I'm trying to find out what tan shades there are since I never paid close enough attention before :(

    31. I have examples of older "Classic Skin" and "D Skin" (which is a paler version of the Classic skin). It is a pretty typical peach-pink color. I don't have photos of these exact pieces but I can try to take some if you need them.

For tan skin, here are some examples:

      I hope this helps!

    32. Thank you SO much for the tan comparisons. That's extremely helpful with the Fairyland tan (also nice to see someone using Flickr, I'm trying to go back to it myself). What year is everything from if you don't mind me asking?

And sorry I meant to clarify, I mean the special strawberry milk skin tone. It was pink pink, not natural skin tone. He said he could make it for me I think, but I wanted to just confirm. I forget who was made in it recently - one of the girls.

      • x 1
    33. @twylight, i person the Fairyland normal skin looks much pinker than the Bimong classic normal. The classic normal is lighter and more yellow.

    34. @Littlebirdzoom - You're welcome! Flickr photo sharing doesn't always work well here, but links work and I just like Flickr's relatively simple interface (even with their new addition of ads).

As far as the years of the tans, the Fairyland hand was from 2022 I believe, and I think I received the headcaps from Bimong in the same year, although he didn't say exactly how old they were.

I can actually help with pink (if it is the same strawberry pink as before)! I found this image in my folder of saved screenshots. I'm not sure if it came from Bimong's instagram or website or from someone else's website/Flickr page (I will take it down later since it doesn't belong to me) but I'm sharing it in case it can help you:

    35. @StellaMarigold omg thank you!! That pink is seriously SO lovely and yes that's the exact one ^_^. Thank you for finding that and showing it to me, I understand if you take it down. I screenshotted the pink so I can reference it.

I think I've settled on getting the boy in the new tan so I can decide to hybrid him later on if I end up not bonding with the head and I just can't resist the pink girl too. Maybe it's time to sell something :XD:

    36. @StellaMarigold I'm pretty sure that one is from Bimong's instagram page. It is a pity he deleted a lot of pictures from his page, it's hard to refer back. I think if you just credit the picture and keep it online it might help other people? even if Bimong doesn't sell anymore.

@nancy_schroeder_ca I wonder if FL lose its pinkines quickly? I did always thought new normal matches FL normal (and the artists himself did say this).

I love new normal, such lovely and lively color, but kinda hard to hybrid with most other companies' normal which tend to be on the yellower side. I wonder how it match with Luts real peach or most chinese normal pinkish.

    37. @marxwyn - Thank you for confirming that about the image! I was pretty sure it was from his Instagram page, but you're right that he deleted quite a few old pictures because there were definitely more - I went back and tried to find them before delving into the folders of my saved images.

The image is credited, so I will leave it up for now (and most likely will forget about removing it anyway haha so it will probably be up indefinitely).

@Littlebirdzoom - Hooray, so glad I could help! I love the "New Tan" color, so I think any doll you choose in that option will look wonderful! And the pink is certainly a charming color! I don't see dolls offered in such unusual colors very often (although if you like them, DoDollsDream also offers lots of lovely fantasy colors for most of her preorders).

    38. Yeah, if anyone has backups of his old images please link us an imgur archive or something :...( They were so useful for data reference and nice to look at.

    39. @StellaMarigold would you be alright posting a comparison between d skin and classic skin? I have a new tan and new normal girl and am thinking of getting one last one before the end of the preorder, but I can’t parse how d skin might look irl

    40. @Beldam - I'll try to take some photos tomorrow! I hope the differences will actually show up! The "D Skin" is in the same color range as Classic Normal, it is just a shade paler.

The heads I have in "Classic Normal" are not quite the current Classic Normal (I purchased a body in that color and later sold it, but I remember that it was a more intense pink-peach color than the head I was trying to match it with) but I hope a comparison might still help.

In the meantime, here are two photos of the Classic Normal head I have with various other resins (note that the Doll Legend hand is actually in "Normal," not "White" resin):

    41. Double-post, but it is for a good cause!

This wasn't an easy task :XD: the sun was not co-operating (there was too much of it). I'll try again on a cloudy day, but for now, this is the best I can do! There are more on Flickr, but I'll post two here.

[IMG]pinkspeaches6 by Flora Lingua Dolls, on Flickr

The Bimong shades are really close to each other. There is a difference between "D Skin" and "Classic Normal," and it is more clear in person, but it is still subtle. I think that the newer Classic Normal is more intense/slightly darker, though, so the difference might be more noticeable.

I went ahead and compared the Bimong colors to all my other light-colored pieces, in case that's helpful to anyone someday.

It is so hard to get accurate colors! For example, Maskcat "White" is actually pinker than the Bimong heads (although just slightly). But I hope these photos will be of some use anyway!

    42. @Beldam - You are so welcome! So glad I could help! I have spent many, many hours scouring Instagram and Flickr for comparisons and aids to hybrids, etc. so I know how important photos can be.

    43. @nancy_schroeder_ca I never told you thank you! But thank you so much for your comparison :D

@StellaMarigold Wow omg. You're AMAZING. Thank you so much! This is fabulous and so so helpful. :abow:

Thank you to everyone on this thread for your aid!!

    44. I’ve loved narae for years and years (since 2009 I’ve been actively on and off thinking about getting one ) and think I’m another person finally prompted to push the button with bimong retiring… any tips for how to decide between 38 and 41 narae? I currently have no other 1/4 bjds right now (but there is a mnf in my future I think, so maybe 38 wins there as they’re a more similar height?)

    45. Yes, they are (I believe) exactly the same except the 41cm body has longer legs.
