Narae and Narin 60cm discussion

Oct 11, 2006

1. Oko's a pinky-white, but he was still much too pale for the Domuya body I've got him on. I had to blush his face to match. He looks great now, though! :)

2. He's gorgeous! Spam away. :D

3. I didn't post yet but I was often looking this thread. Now here is my boy ! I was in order 71 and my Narin Charisma just arrived ♥

No make up for the moment, poor him ._. I have to buy new eyes and wig too >_<

4. bperry042, thank you for your comment!
Dollswest, thank you! I am really enjoying her. Right now I’m working on sewing her a new outfit.
Rykaan, your boy is so cute, he looks like he could pass for a prince charming.
Assaliah, congrats on your boy, can’t wait to see what he looks like with face-up.

5. Ugh I think I'm going to put Danté tonight in his box.
So he's now really out of sight.
It feels so strange but I really want to get 'rid of him'.
I never expected that finding a buyer for him was going to be this hard.

Assaliah - He looks already so sexy! Can't wait to see him with a full face-up!
Rykaan - Gorgeous, cute and sexy! A deadly combination. *_*

6. laura121786, you've got ur beauty at least)
rykaan, ooh, I love blondes)) and curly blondes is the best)
TiggTea I think it is cuz of French resin and no actual pice for him

7. I redid my girls face-up. I wasn’t happy with how it looked before. It didn’t have a smooth look. I have learned that watercolors and French resin go well together.

8. Hi!
I want to buy Narin 60, tanning matte resin.
I love Durante :love He is so.. so.. so...:aheartbea  :aheartbea
:) :)
but I dont like french resin :(

And I dont like Narin body.
What do you think about color of domuya body with Narin tanning matte head? Or may be another companies...

Thank you

Or may be dollsdown orientalskin?

9. Wouldn't you love to be having dinner at a restaurant, and glance over to see none other than Tinkerbell herself?

"Tink" is my Athena, 58 CM Narae done up for the costume contest at BJD con. She won a special award for best animation character, what a thrill!

10. Omg!! Athena is so gorgeous, best Tink ever!
Where you got those amazing shoes? I am in love, so is Vespa!
She wants to be a Tinkerbell now also. ;)

Mirada - French resin really isn't that bad. Personally I like it better than urethane, the feeling, the color, just the whole thing!
If you're interested in him I can make you a nice offer if you want. ;)
Just PM me. =D

Oh and orientalskin would be definatly too light for matte tan resin!

11. Thanks so much Tigg Tea! It was fun to do!

The shoes are little ballet slippers I found that fit her that I dyed and decorated with sparkle paint and the poms.

I am thinking of selling the outfit, PM me if you are interested! It would include the wig, wings, dress, stockings and her wand, which isn't in this pic.

12. Congratulations Gayle! Great job! The whole concept is just adorable!

13. Ahhh, I wish I had the money for it! But I don't, I'm sorry Gayle.
Besides, I sew myself, so I would be able to make it myself also, I think, haha!

14. gayle, wow! little fairy)) I love her shoes) kinda BJD's Manolo Blahnik !
Mirada, yeah, I agree, Durante is love) But Dollstown's skin is not a match for Narin... I'm not sure about Domuya - their tan is light, I can't say if Domuya match Narin tan. May be one day Narin ll make new body?)

15. :fangirl:Gayle that is one AWESOME outfit you did there for your girl! I love Tinkerbell and am a big Disney fan, but I don't have a 60cm Narae, have been thinking if my 43cm Tisa wanted to grow up, she looked at me and said no.

16. Thanks so much everyone, glad "Tink" made you smile!

Tracy, my original idea was to do up my Butterfly Narae as Tink for the competition, but when it became clear that she wouldn't arrive in time, I did Athena up instead.

In alot of ways, I think the smaller Narae's would be even cuter as Tink, the tinier factor and all! You could do an adorable Tink with Tisa!

17. gayle, your tink was even more gorgeous in person!! i loved her!!

18. Aww, thanks so much diane! You just made my day :)

19. Butterfly faced Tinkerbell. . . That would be funny!
You should do it anyway Gayle! Just for fun. =D
Little and big Tink, haha

Oh and I updated Durante's price. . . It now actually has a price.
Hopefully now I'll get someone who wants to buy him.
*Emo, emo*

20. Love the Tinkerbelle outfit, so darling. I am loving sewing for my narae. She is a dream come true. My favorite things to design and sew for her are medieval/ period pieces. I’ll give her a gallery once I’m done with a whole outfit.
I know French resin yellows and that’s why people tend to be hesitant towards it, but I like it so much more than urethane. I made a French resin data base it any one here is interested.
Here’s the link: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245296
I thought I would do my part to promote French resin. I think the look and feel of it is well worth the fact that it yellows. The yellowing is not that bad.

21. Thank you for doing that Laura. I shall get my girls in there. Now is this just for the big Narae girls or do we include the 43cm ones as well? All 6 of mine are French resin, 2 big, 4 small, so before I begin the task of getting them in the database, I want to make sure I put down the correct ones.

22. it'a for all french resin dolls. big or small they are welcomed as long as they are made of french reesin.

23. Laura121786 - I was very shocked when I saw that Vespa had yellowed so much, but now I think that if she didn't yellow, she wouldn't have been Vespa! Vespa = yellow and yellow = Vespa. =D
I've always covered up Durante so he hasn't yellowed luckily.
People always do so difficult about french resin, but if you take simple good care of the doll it doesn't have to yellow! =D

24. More pictures, Narin 60 owners...pleeeease! :)

25. [IMG]

My tan french resin Narin Skjalm. I bought him from sea-chan. He's out for a face-up atm so no pics with a face-up yet.

26. Omg Voynich! I didn't know you had a Narin!! How awesome. =D
His eyes are amazing are you going to keep those?
Who's going to do his face-up? =D

27. I don't have him that long yet. Since..half august or something. I'm still doubting on the eyes. I have these and a pair of more aqua coloured ones. I keep switching them between him and my Dreamin Lion. I'll just have to wait for the face-up to be done and decide then.
Arrowchild is doing his face-up. She did all the face-ups on my dolls (cept Kauko who still has his default). So he's over in Ohio now. All my dolls got to go to the US before me :...(

28. Thanks for sharing. Such a fantastic sculpt. SO pretty yet still (I think) male enough. I can't wait to get mine!

29. Oh my Bwiel, did I miss something?
Have you ordered one? =D
Which one, which faceplate? =D

30. Yeeeeah! If I can connect with this doll, he might just be my second dream doll (my first being my lovely natasha Ed Soad). I ordered a pinky white urethane open eyed Narin. :D Its so exciting! Ive wanted one since I first saw them.

31. Congratulations Bwiel!
Can't wait to see him. :)

32. How big are Narins Feet please?
What shoes will fit him best?

33. He's right in between SD sized and SD13 sized, so some of each size fit him, but it's touch and go. I usually just have him share the SD13 shoes my Dollshe boys wear, but I put padding in the toes.

34. Thanks Gayle. I was under the impression his feet were on the smaller size (slightly smaller than sd) so thanks for the clarification.

35. Overall just think of him as essentially an SD13 sized doll. I use Apollo as a clothing commission model for SD13 all the time, and the few SD sized clothes I have bought him are way too small.

36. I have shoes from Luts which fit Durante perfectly. ^_^

37. Question: does anyone know it iplehouse wig size 8.2-8.7 will fit narae? I know 8/9 is too big for her, but I was hopping because the measurement is smaller that it would work.

And will SD boy shoes fit girls too?

38. I have used Volks SD boy shoes on my girls and they work fine. I just got some Dollheart girls shoes in the mail last week and they work great on her as well.............not all the SD size girls shoes I had from Luts fit as her foot is wider, so I was pleased to find out the Dollheart shoes did..........but boy shoes for SD13 (at least from Volks) should work fine.

I would imagine that the IH wigs will fit as the Narindolls wig that came with my Narae fits my IH Lion perfectly, but I haven't tried the IH wigs on her.................I will try to remember to try my IH on her this weekend and report back.

39. Dear goodness, Durante is sold. O_O
It went really slowly, but as soon as I found a buyer it all went so quickly!
I received his payment today and already immediatly sent him away.

Now Vespa is left all alone, with MSDs surround her.

Hopefully she'll understand it and like the new guy (going to order a SOOM Dia male in a while).

40. I think you will love the Soom Dia male when you get one.................and I'm sure Vespa will too (grin). I know my Miranda love's my Soom Sard (Uphir)..............or at least the dreams she keeps having about him, LOL! I think the Soom Super Gem male bodies are some of the best male bodies out there. I love my Soom guy!

41. thank you jinCIncy, that really helps me.

tigtea: hope Durante got a good hope. finding the right boy can be hard. hope Dia will work out for you. that sculpt reminds me of sard's.

i have just put up a gallery for my narae.
click the link if you're intersted: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=247299

42. JinCIncy - Oh yea you know how much I love your Uphir. And I think it's a great combination with the Narae Mature mold, so it really is going to be a perfect choice!

Laura - He will get a good home. His new owner is super friendly and I'll bet she'll spam here and in the gallery also!
Sard and Dia look much the same indeed, they actually are the same mold also, except that Sard had elf-ears and more sanded cheeks, I believe.

43. Hi all!

I'm the one who bought T-T's Narin boy Durante. (Thank you T-T!) :)

Don't worry, I promise to give him a good home and you will all be seeing lots of him in the future. I've been shopping for him and didn't realize until now how fun it is to shop for boys! I can't wait to get him home!! He's such a cool guy - who can resist him?

44. Hey Stephanie!
Welcome to this thread! :)

I will never doubt about you giving a good home or not, I just know you will!
Shopping can be fun indeed (if you have the money :sweat). =D
Can't wait to see him again!

45. What are good places to shop for wigs that will fit narae? So far I know jpop and iplehouse will fit, but is there any other sites that sell wigs that will fit her? I’m trying to look for more selection. I know if the wig is 7/8 and has elastic around it, it will work. Does eluts and dollmore have elastic in their wigs.

46. To be honest, I have no idea. O_O
Vespa still wears her default wig, I never ever changed it.

47. I only buy size 7/8 wigs for my girls for the most part. I buy a lot from JPOP and from Denver Dolls as well.

48. Hi this is a great thread - I am waiting (impatiently!) for my 43 cm narae and already planning my 60 (next payday). This is really helpful to see others 60 naraes and they are all beautiful, so keep posting!

49. Sorry if this has been asked recently but does anyone have any idea of how long the wait is? I haven't ordered yet just want to get an idea of things:) Thanks for any info!

50. I waited for my two girls quite a while as I was caught in the French resin problem. I waited 5 months for Alexa and 4 months for Ava. I think things are going better now.

Hubby and I just returned from another rode trip. I was sure I would get some more knitting done but found the scenery too wonderful to ignore. If anyone ever gets a chance to see Mount Rushmore, I would highly recommend it. The Black Hills are spectacular too. The last day driving home was another story. We hit snow in Eastern Montana and the driving conditions were terrible. Even though knitting calms me down, it was just too much for me and I could not even count my stitches. So my next project will get finished at home. For the moment we are still sunny with pleasant fall temperatures.

I finished this sweater up just before we left. Alexa needed something new and trying to get my big girls with as many clothes as the smaller ones is quite a task. I actually wanted to make this sweater for myself. A new yarn shop opened up downtown and this sweater is on display. It is by Lanaknits Designs Hemp for Knitting. I decided I would try a small version first for one of my SD sized bjds. Instead of hemp, which is too thick for dolly work, I used Jamieson’s Lace weight Shetland wool. I knit it up on 00 and 000 sized needles, using a smaller gauge in order to get the amount of cables in I wanted. Even though I used 00 needles for the body, I still got a larger gauge than when I knit with KnitPicks 100% Merino wool, still my very favorite yarn. But this yarn looked like the hemp version I was trying to achieve.

The jean skirt is an enlarged version of the one I do for my 43cm Narae and Unoa girls. It did not quite work out at the percentage to increase it that I thought would work. I ended up just re-fitting the whole thing. The original design is by Janice of Daniel Bingham. I made the straw hat, necklace, and the white “pleather” purse. Shoes are by Releaserain. I changed Alexa’s eyes to blue and the blonde wig is by Jpopdolls.

51. Does anyone ever have this happen too them with their narae’s? Maybe I’m not getting enough sleep, or I’m staying up too late, but sometime out of the corner of my eye I see her blink. I know she hasn’t really blinked. I haven’t gotten that sleep deprived. But does anyone ever think they see their dolls move. I never had this happen with my AOD. I think it is because my narae is so life like.

Dollswest: your girl looks like a movie star. She is so sophisticated and mature (that is not meant as a joke or wordplay). Did you bring any of your dolls with you on your road trip? I have never taken my narae farther than the backyard. That will probable change someday.
Lucky girl, I would love to take a road trip though Montana. My sister got to drive though it, and other states, when she moved to the east coast. Didn’t have much time for sightseeing though, but she said it was beautiful.

52. Thank you Laura. I do agree that these big girls have the prettiest faces. I have not seen mine wink at me but I see a slight smile when I get them all dressed up! I also find that my big girls pose so much better than the 43cm size. I can never get the smaller ones arms to stay put and I don't care for the right hand sculpt. I love the hands on these big ones. And the body just has more definition.

I am having so much fun dressing them. I do find the body harder to fit. I am about to tackle some pants for them, jeans and a dressy, flaired pair. And knitting for them takes much longer as I still want to stay in scale and not resort to thicker yarn.

No, I don't take my girls out. All my Naraes (6 of them) stay covered when not getting a fitting, dressed or posing. I have taken my Volks Yo-SD camping. Now there is a doll that is a hoot to take places. And she is by far the best at posing. In fact, all my Volks pose better. But, guess that is why I have different ones. Each has unique qualities for me. But Alexa and Ava, my big Narae girls, are my favorite at the moment.

53. Thank you so much Dollswest! That was quite a wait but your girl is just amazing:D

54. There are things that I think are tacky about this photo, but I still really like. I wasn’t trying to take a good picture and it shows in some respect. I think there is something very cool about it. What do all of you think?

55. I don't find the photo tacky at all! I think it is a very artistic photo. I love the hair that way and her eyes. I think it shows creativity and a certain quality in these dolls that you don't see often. I am glad you posted it! Thank you.

56. Thank you Dollswest! And you’re welcome. I have a lot more confidence in this picture now. I will be sure to learn how to take more pictures like it. I didn’t know if it was good or not b/c I was just messing around with my camera and not even thinking about it. I have been told that I do things right when I stop thinking hard about things. I’m sure that’s true for a lot of people. Sometime it’s hard not to think hard about something you’re focused on.

Still would love to have some profile of French resin beauties on the database I made. It’s for all French resin dolls.
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245296

57. Gosh, Laura, I totally forgot about the database. Thank you for the reminder. I don't get here that often now. My computer time is limited in order to get everything else done. But I do want to get my girls on the database for you. I have been trying to set up a gallery as well, so all my photos are in one place. That takes time too. Well soon the election will be over and I should have more time then.

58. I am hoping I can get some input on a problem I have with my two big girls. The white putty used to hold in their eyes does not work well. I keep them covered and lying down on their shipping pillows and every time I go to pick them up, their eyes fall out or are already out. I am using the original putty that they arrived with. It just will not stick to the resin inside. I do not have this problem with my smaller Naraes. Can anyone suggest something else? I have tried Sculpty putty and it does not work either.

I finally solved the faceplate from falling off by taping it and using wig caps. However, since I have to open up the faceplates a lot with the eyes popping off, it is a real pain. I think I will just use wig caps as I am tired of re-taping all the time. Anyone have a suggestions for this problem as well?

Thank you!

59. Since there aren't too many big Narins around this board I'll just post a picture of him here.

His eyes should be a different colour ...more orange/yellow for a wolfish look but I'm not sure yet. I'll have to try it out.

60. Oh, those lips, Voynich, Wow! Thank you for posting the photo of your handsome guy.

This has been a very quite thread lately. Is anyone expecting a "big on" on the order that was just shipped out? It would be so nice to see what is coming home.

Guess I will write Joan about my eye "goop" problem. It is quite a hassle at the moment. I just hate having to take the wigs on and off to re-fix the eyes in.
