Narae and Narin 60cm discussion

Oct 11, 2006

    1. I couldnt find a thread exclusively for discussion the different 60cm Narin/Narae dolls so I hope its okay to post this one.

I plan to start saving for one but I would love to see some pictures of different faceups in the meantime.

I was just on the Narindoll website and was looking at the new Mature Narae doll. I think she is pretty but I think her eyebrows finish a little too close together.
And the Zaoll doll - isnt she beautiful? I wonder if you can ask for a similar face up on a normal Narae.

I was just looking at the doll heads on the Narin site - what is the hole in th back of the head for?

    2. Hi endorwitch,

The big Naraes I've seen have such different looks. They seem to be pretty versatile.
The mature Narae face isn't really my cup of tea. The close eyebrow thing seems to show up in several of the different face paints. One of the artists must like that look. Kind of retro.

I haven't seen too many big Narins out there though. I've always admired the Narin dolls and have decided to rearrange my collection a bit so I can order one soon.

I had my Ryung matched up with Yukinojo and after a while I realized that the faces just weren't working--Ryung's eyes are too big. She seems to overshadow him--her head is small but the face is not so small--mostly it's the back of her head--the skull that's small. I'm getting her a larger guy with bigger eyes.

So, I've decided that a large Narae will be a better match--more in proportion in the head/face. I've wanted her for a long time now, and I love the optional heads/faces. Must sell Sooah or Shall first so I can order her in golden beige.

Do you ever visit Zone of Zen? Quite a few Narae pics on that board. You can ask for owners to post pics and they will!

    3. I have lusted after the Narae's since I first saw them. I finally brought my girl home today. She is Selene, the Greek Goddess of the Moon. I had envisioned her faceup as Wedding I for a year, and at the last minute I changed my mind on the faceup. It took some getting used to but I am liking her more and more with each wig change.

Here's a pic of my new girl.

    4. I think the hole in the back of the head was for some sort of perfume mechanism Narindolls originally had in their head . . . it was something like that at least. And I agree about the eyebrows being too close together on some of the Narae face-ups, but I think if you asked specifically they would avoid that for you- based on my experience the artists seem to follow your instructions very well ^^
I really love the big Narindolls- I would have bought a big boy instead of my little one had I the money :sweat

    5. Endorwitch - I was going to get the Wedding I Narae face, which you can see on Narindoll's site. It is softer, more translucent. I think of the difference between a glaze and paint.

    6. Here is my Narae. She is a Limited Wedding II. [IMG]

    7. Here are my Snow-in-Spring and Rafe. I love them more every time I photograph or sew for them. I'll probably tweak the face-ups again. They are a dream to paint.

    8. Is it my imagination or are the 43 Naraes more popular than the 60 Naraes?

    9. I don't think it's your imagination at all. I do believe the 43 are much more popular and the girls more than the boys in the 43 though I don't know about the 60.

    10. I just noticed today that my snowy white Narae 60 who I'm having trouble getting used to( I should have ordered a pinky white) but I ordered before the samples were organized well way in the beginning.

Anyway, I noticed that since her face is exposed to the air it has gotten a bit yellowed while the body which has been covered up is still whitey white.
I'm happy about the slight and I mean slight darkening of the snowy white and I was wondering if others have noticed this happen too.

What happens to the pinky white when it gets light exposure?

Please chime in with your experiences with all the skin tones.

    11. I finally ordered a Narae Mature head (just the head because I can't afford the whole doll at this point . . . maybe in the summer). I am so excited but the wait is freaking killing me. I don't know if I have ever been so crazy about an incoming doll. Does anyone know about how long it takes? It's been about 5 weeks (have heard that it usually takes seven-ish?) I have always prefered the 60cm Narae/Narins, but recently, after seeing so many amazing pics of the 43 cm, I really want to get one of them as well. Oh, cursed low paying job! Anyway, thanks for posing such great pictures of your dolls for me to drool over.:)

    12. frushtick Check out this thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88212 It is a discussion thread about the yellowing of the french resin. You will find your answer there. It seems the snow white and pinky white both yellow rather quickly.

    13. I just received my Narin 60 today! I was at work when he came, and my mom was there to sign for him. It was so hard to wait to get off of work.
But here is Rồng Hiryuu. He is a golden beige skin tone.

I hope you like. I plan on doing his faceup friday.

    14. I love my Narae. Here are a couple images from a story line I'm trying to develop with her and Saint. I've had her for a year. She's pinky white resin, and, yes, she's had a bit of yellowing, but she's still looks lovely and natural.

    15. I'm planning on getting a Narin charisma as my second doll. I have a few questions to ask the Narin owners here *___*

      1. what kind of shoes fit him? SD13? SD10? will dollheart shoes fit?
      2. clothing, is it true that he's slimmer than some of the more popular male dolls out there? will Dollmore SD clothes fit? any shop/website reccomendation?
      3. any comparison photos showing him with 14mm or 16mm eyes?
      4. how fast does the yellowing starts to get noticeable with the pinky white resin?

    16. I can anwser 2 of the questions!~
He can wear SD13 shoes, but they are a little loose. He is slimmer, slimmer then my volks boys, but they can still share clothes. I think luts clothing will fit.
Dollmore clothes will fit, they might not be as tight as you want tho.

    17. Hey again guys.
I only have one bjd so i am curious about doll differences - could anyone share some pics showing the back and inside of Narin doll heads?

Is that a totally weird question to ask?

I was imagining my girl today and I want a girl with open eyes but i was picturing taking photos of her with closed eyes so i was thinking would be totally nuts to get two heads with similar faces ups so i could swap them when the fancy took me....but then i wondered how hard would it be to change the head....
i am still too scared to try restringing my Swift even though I think he really needs it.
I am still a major doll newb... T.T

All you guys with your dolls on the way are so lucky! I just started saving.

    18. *sigh*
I just recently recieved by big Narin... and honestly..after seeing hundreds of these beautiful BJDs... I think Narin Doll may just have taken the poll position for me. Everything about my Narin makes me so happy to have brought him home. The love that went into crafting these dolls is immense, and his custom face up from Basic Line is exactly what I asked for.

To answer and ask some questions ~ so far I've found that Luts shirts are fitting best, but that the trousers are still a bit loose - a belt is recommended xD I have what were labelled some 'standard SD' pants here from Mimiwoo which fit a little better though. Dollmore shirts of couse fit but they are a tiny bit loose - as earlier mentioned Narin's are slimmer ^-^

Shoes so far I'm having a slight trouble with - but I'm going to try Luts boy shoes next!

Endorwitch, if the big Narae is the same as the big Narin you need not worry about changing faces. Because the head doesn't ahve to be taken off like most big dolls. They have the magnetic front of their faces popping and sliding off. I'll put pictures in my next reply ^_^

And for love... after my big long post...

    19. Right ^-^ face offing ~

Take one wigless Narin doll head

Hold the temples, (it also works better holding the back part of his head too - but I only have two hands and one was holding the camera!)... and pull forwards to seperate the magnets

Lift upwards so front face part comes free

Inside of face plate with magnet and slots

Back of the head remains attatched to body ^-^

    20. May I ask what eye size is he wearing, Butterfly?

    21. He has 14mm Soom eyes in ^-^

    22. I agree - your Narin is gorgeous. :D

And thanks so much for those pics of the face - I was suspecting (and hoping) that might how their faces worked but in wigless pictures on Dollfair you see of the front of the dolls you can normally only see the line around the top of the head which from the angle looked much like where any other skull cap is. SO COOL!

    23. Here's my Apollo and Athena
      [IMG]

      I adore these two!

    24. I've got a little question about the skin color of Narae Mature. . .
I'm about to order her (I'm just in love with her!) but I want the skin-color as shown on the promotion shots of her. But I'm not quite sure which color that is, is it snow white? 'Cause it seems to be too white for pinky-white!

      Thanks.

    25. Nevermind, I already discovered that it should be pinky-white xD

Anyway, I've got another little question; Do the dolls stand well? Are they kicky or something like that?
I mean, Ophelia has lots of problems with kicky legs and arms and I don't want to have that with my future doll.

    26. *waves hi to everyone*

Endorwitch invited me to come on by and see if anyone has any questions.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, but please PM me directly for any sales-related things.

If you look at my signature, I also have a customer service forum where you can ask questions or find out about your order arrivals.

Trivia info: the 60cm Narin and Narae are only 1 year old now. The 43cm Narae and Narin dolls were the first size Bimong made to sell to the public.

To answer someone's question about "kicky legs": I own a Narin and Narae 60 myself and they aren't kicky at all. They are very stable and hold a pose nicely.

      Catrina

    27. Dollyholic, may I know what eye size does Narin Charisma wears?

    28. That's a really good question, Aramaki!

Officially it's 14-16mm but you see people trying smaller more lifelike sizes on them which does make them look pretty amazing.

Here is the measurement chart for all Narin dolls:
      http://www.dollfair.com/gallery6.htm

You can see that 60cm Narae's suggested size is smaller than Narin.

    30. I have a question : Does anyone have a non-seamsanded Narin/Narae doll?

I'm trying to get an idea of how noticeable the seams are if they're not sanded on a Narin doll.

    31. I just ordered my Narae Mature, which is going to have a tanning skintone.

What's exactly the difference if it is non-seamsanded or seamsanded?

    32. When I got my Narae sanding was not offered and the seams are very visible.
I wish that I had the option to have the seams sanded.

    33. ^-^ My Narin isn't sanded... he does have a pretty noticable seamline on one side of his torso but all in all it doesn't bother me all that much - not enough to take sand paper to him anyway XD... I guess it depends how bothered you are by such things ~

    34. Well, if the doll needs sanding, then I'll do it myself xD
I'm just a bit searching in the Mio Shop. And I see some very awesome clothes there! O__o
Would the jeans also fit Narae 60cm?
And perhaps this question is kind of off-topic (sorry for that) but do they accept orders from Europe? Cause I really don't understand a thing of that site xD

    35. I don't know about those jeans but the Cocori Jeans from Iplehouse fit her like a glove...fantastic I had to have another pair!

    36. Has anyone here *tried* sanding their doll? I'm just wondering if the French resin will be easier to sand (maybe less resistant to the sand paper?) . . . I've had not-so-great experiences with sanding other dolls :shudder

    37. I sanded MM when she arrived...I found the resin very easy to work with.

be sure to take all the usual steps...outside, wear a mask etc.

    38. Has anyone actually changed the entire head of their Narin boy or girl yet? I'm wondering as to how easy it is to do so - the mechanism is alittle different as there is no S ring in the 60 cm boy that I have. And has anyone ordered separate heads? Do they come with any of the metal bars that help attach the head to the body? thanks Alex

    39. nathankatt, the heads (when you order separately) don't come with the metal bars. You could replace the metal bar with an S-hook if you want. I used a thick nail that I cut off the head and point of, to use as a bar in my (small) Narin's head.

It's easy to swap the whole head, but just as easy to just swap the faceplates over. To take the back part of the head off, use hemostats to grab the elastic just under the metal bar, and put a pen or a skewer through the loops so they don't disappear into the torso. Then just lift the back-head off.

    40. Yaay! I see on the website that #30 is being made now, my doll is one of them!
I'm curious at when she will arrive here. . .
Her shoes and stockings will be here next week, and I also just purchased Mio Jeans and Turtle sweater! :D
      Yaay, Narae goes emo xD

    41. Does anyone know if the 60cm Mature Narae head will fit on the Ryung/Sooah (large bust) body?

    42. I so wish that order #30 will be finished soon!
I've got a meet in begin March and I want my Narae to be there.

    43. I sooo wait for my 60cm Narin boy Szin, who is in #32 - it´s a long time since I have been THAT excited ^^

    44. I really, really shouldn't hang out in this thread so much. I secretly have my heart set on a Tanned Narae as Chris's girlfriend, Dae. They are so lovely! :love

If only I could do a layaway...*sighs* Anyways, this thread has been really handy! And please keep posting pics in here, cause I can't get enough of 'em. :thumbup

    45. Catrina takes layaway. THat's how I paid for my Narin. :)

    46. Aaaaw crap laurmann2000, my checkbook wishes you hadn't said that.

I just may do this yet! :whee:

    47. hey guys. i just wanted to remind everyone to participate in the book i'm putting together for bimong of narin creative. i'll be visiting his workshop in may, and catrina is setting it up so i'll get to meet him in person. this is your oportunity to visit him with me!

21 people have signed up so far. we need more 60cm owners involved! so far i believe most, if not all, are 43cm owners! i know you guys love your beauties!

a link to my post with all the details is in my signature. sign up! have fun!

    48. Can I request nude full body pics of Narin and does anyone have a golden beige or tan 60cm Narin?

I've been having serious thoughts about the Narin Charisma for quite a while now, but I've been having a hard time finding owner pictures of this gorgeous boy!

      Please help? :aheartbea

    49. Is it just me or are there really only a few 60 CM Narae's around?!
Gosh, if my Narae comes here, I'll be sure to spam her, hehe ;)

    50. How do these Bigger Narae's pose. I have a 60cm doll not Narae but I couldn't bond with her because she was like an unstrung puppet.

BTW, Everyone's boys and girls are breath taking.

      Nicole :)

    51. I think they pose the same as the smaller Narin's, but if you don't like the body you could always use one from another company, like CP or Volks.

    52. When I see these pictures I really want my Narin SO bad! I already bought an outfit and a wig for him ... but no clue what the status of #32 is, where he is in. I guess it will be still a long wait :...(

Jo, your Naraes are both so beautiful :aheartbea

    53. Yaay, I'm happy the other 60cm dolls are shipped now also! This means the next order is #30! Where my Narae is in :D:D:D:D I can't wait untill she arrives here in my hands!
I wonder when they will be ready.

    54. They are very good posers. Solid and dependable, and their joints lock well. I have had a few different dolls from different companies over the past couple years and the Narin's are right up there with the very best posers.

    55. I forgot to post on here but I made my first payment for my Narae VERY early Friday morning aussie time. heh.
Catrina is letting me do a layaway so I am happy. I cant trust myself to save money...if I have it I WANT to spend it! So layaway means my girl will be paid bit by bit.

I am not sure how many weeks it will take for me to fully pay, then add the wait for her to be made....even with all that time I just know I am going to spend every single day trying to think of the perfect name for her! :D
I am hopeless - I love names but when it comes to choosing one its incredibly hard!

I wish we had more 60cm owners.
The 43cm ones are so incredibly popular!!
Maybe because I am biased towards Naraes more than most other dolls so I notice them more - but it seems like the 43cm Naraes are one of the most popular dolls on the forum atm.

    56. Paging Catrina! Does Mature Narae only come open-eyed?

    57. Hi Stella,
The Mature Narae is a facepart unto itself-- so there is only one, and no other eye options for it.

Kinda like "Narae Butterfly".. it's just one option with no other variations.:D

      Many thanks for your question!
      Catrina

    58. You might find some way of contacting Narin creative through their Korean website.
      http://www.narindoll.com/

Of course, you'll need to know Korean or have someone translate for you. I do suggest both of you take the rest of this conversation to PM since it seems more appropriate for PM or email. Thank you. :)

    59. I could live in this thread. Where are all the Tall Narins though? I love that boy! The fabulous Catrina helped me to get my hands on my dream boy - a tattooed Narin (she is wonderful!). Soon, but not soon enough. I can't stop thinking about him.

Catrina dear, all this talk of skin tones has me wondering.. does Narin Tattoo come in whichever skintone I choose? I checked your site and saw the drop down menu for skintone and makeup, but I guess I always thought that LE dolls came as they are shown in the photos. It is a little premature to ask perhaps, but I want to make sure I have everything in order.

      Thanks sweetie!
