Mystic Kids 1/6 discussion

yes I was a tiny collector last year too! I sold 3 of my big dolls - and then of course changed my mind again *sigh* No harm in changing it back again though LOL - or being greedy and collecting both I love the way Alices Collections lists the heads available separately too - I have a few tinies I'm not crazy about, but I could simply buy an MK head and swap it out with their existing one, so I think that's the plan so far....I totally LOVE your Verdin too, and the way you're styling her - pastel goth is adorable

 

Here is some Cris spam!
I regretted not buying Cris's fullset. So I bought the part I was missing; outfit and shoes.
The colors are different from the company photos, but I like this White shirt/Green color so it is fine. The cat tail has bendable wire inside which is awesome. :U
So he is now basically a Mystic Kids Cris set, except for his eyes.

(His freckles don't show up well here though. :C)
His name is Cris, like the sculpt. We kept calling him that and it really stuck. xD

 

I have a Cris doll too! Though I couldn't afford to buy the full set. Right now he's dressed up in home made clothes but he still looks super cute!

I have a lot of trouble with the wig my Cris came with, my friend has to put it on because I am so bad at it, we can't tell if there's a front or back and it's always funny looking. OTL

no the wig isn't from Mystic Kids, I got it from Ebay! I'd link you to it but it seems the seller no longer has the item available

Looking at photos is my favorite thing to do here, especially for Mystic Kids.
I thought about buying an alternate wig on eBay myself, but have been too lazy to actually do it! OuOb

I like cris but i'm a huge freckle fan on dolls, and his don't show up as much as i would of liked which made me not really want him. I do wanna get his and Christina's outfits. > w<

 

I think I really like freckles on dolls too. I wish Cris's would photograph more easily. I want a faceup with a bandaid on it, that would be cool to!
The more photos the better! (In my opinion at least.) So keep come back with photos sometime, Gurokei! : D

 

I will post some picture soon! I'm also hoping I can do his face up some time soon, I already have the eyelashes and water color paint, so I'll be giving him some nice freckles! Since it's a dark brown it should show up better then the company face up / u \ I just need to get some sealant and a pink chalk pastel

 

Good luck with the faceup! I tried once on my OT doll and messed up so I washed it off to do again later.
I want to see the faceup when it is done! : D

Cris is my favorite, too. But I also wish his freckles were a bit more visible.

 

My first girl was the Mystic Kids SD Eileen, and I'm falling in love with their sweet little YoSDs too! I especially love their newest girl, Nelly...has anyone gotten her yet, by any chance? I'd love to see some owner photos

I fell in love with him at first sight, especially his sad, droopy eyes~

 

I could do without the painted on tear. He looks like he might be the same sculpt as Julian. Either way, I like his more colorful faceup.

 

I really like his outfit and hat but also not fond of the tear. But my internet is so bad the images barely load.

 

quick question, does anyone know how big of eye they take?

i cant find the info from the store i got him from or online and ive been wanted to get some different eyes for my Cris doll

 

If I remember correctly, the pair I took out of my Cris were 12mm. But 14mm will also fit.

so i was messing around with Cris' eyes and i ended up screwing up how i normally style his wig, plus I lost my wig brush, so i ended up using a tooth brush (don't worry it was still in a packet when i got it to use)!

the results were super cute!

It's amazing what a little styling and movement of eyes can do to make a doll look so much more lively / u \!

I decided to go ahead and order Nelly and was wondering what size eye she will come with o_0? I've read through posts saying that 10mm is a good size eye or 12mm and was wondering if anyone else was willing to posts photos of their dolls wearing different eye sizes? Thanks

My Mystic Kids Nelly arrived the other day but I haven't gotten around to taking proper photos, so here's a quick photo of her!



I was feeling a bit nervous as to how pale her skintone would actually be (it looks almost WHITE in the company photos), but the 'pink' skin came out to be more of a natural fleshtone, so I was relieved... I am TOTALLY in love with her face though ;o;

 

My little Verdin has white skin because I thought normal skin was gonna be to dfor for my taste. I didnt see photos until after I ordered her. Lol. Which I have new photos, but will upload them after I get off work.

Nelly is much prettier than she looked in the promo photos! Which makes me wonder if Eddy looks better, too.

I've been wondering that myself. I intend to get a NS soom so if I do and nobody else puts up some reference photos I will do it. Someday maybe. OTL
I can compare Soom white to Mystic Kids Normal Pink and White if you wanted?

 

I've been interested in buying Christina for awhile now, but that pawprint on her cheek bothers me (I'm in love with the rest of her face-up)...Does anyone know if it can be removed by sanding or has anyone even attempted to do something like this o_o?

 

I believe it is just the face up, many people didn't like Lillian's (?) mole so they request a face up without it.
I'm pretty sure you can ask for the same with Christina, im sure some one has done it before!
It never hurts to ask!

 

Hey, just stumbled across this after not finding any info about these dolls anywhere else! Can anyone tell me how well these dolls pose? I guess specifically Verdin, since I'm looking at her

 

I had a Verdin for a while, and she was alright at posing! Her balance was great, and I loved her legs and torso (though I eventually put her on Peapod hooves, which I also LOVED). The only thing I wasn't a fan of was her wrist/hand posability. I think it's because MK's hands are mitten-like and not very graceful or versatile, IMHO. Overall that's a very small problem. I'm sure you could give them other YoSD-sized hands if it really bugs you!

 

Ok thanks! If I decide on getting her, hands aren't necessarily a deal-breaker for me, but I guess I'll shop around a bit and consider my options!

 

I like that they can free stand barefoot. But I did have some difficulty getting Lizzy to wrap her hands around into a cuddle of her stuffed sheep.

Yup, but they totally work for some poses, as demonstrated above. Just might be nice to have an alternate pair too.

 

I can stand up Cris and just leave him like that for hours without any worries, especially on bare feet!
A bit of hot glue in the wrists and that helps make them pose more even if it's only a little bit, beats "Straight out 90% of the time" poses that he used to do, they actually stay bent now.

This is from right around when I got him last November, but for the most part
I believe it has elbows, thigh, knee, and wrists bent as far as they would go, also while balancing on one foot like a boss.
I did edit his boy bits on these reference photos as to not weird out my friends. xD

I almost got Verdin myself, but really liked the face of Cris over time. If you want me to try any poses or anything I'd be happy to help, if you have any second thoughts. I mean, I have one so I may as well help you decide if you wanted. XD

Seriously can't get over how adorable he is haha If I was looking for a boy doll, he would definitely be a top pick! It's too bad I can only ever successfully sew girl clothes If it isn't too much trouble, could you tell me about his sitting poses? On the site, it shows them sitting with their knees pointed inwards and their feet pointed out and I think that's a really cute pose. Can these bodies really do that? Sorry I'm a bit skeptical, I've never had anything other than a single-jointed doll!

there's only two I know they can't do which is to hug the knees and to where you sit on the shin, I don't know what you would call that position haha.
