My own little mermaid [tiny] [30 July update on page 8]

Sep 22, 2007

    1. she looks better and better every time I check her.
I really like the torso joint...it's so "Gentaro unon 0" like,hee-hee....
      can't wait to see her complete!^ ^

    2. Thanks ^.^

What is genato unon 0? ^.^''

    3. good work, very nice! :)

    4. Oooo i love her face! (but maybe her upper arm is a little long. :/ )Is sculpey that good? :) I remember when i first worked with fimo (have to bake) it was so odd after an air drying clay. So easy to sculpt with! :3
      Nice work. ^^

    5. your mermaid is looking good, the tail seems to be great so far
      barb

    6. Thanks everyone :D

@ Moniee, yes maybe it's a tad long... but I'll first finish the pieces of the tail to see if it's proportionate, it's easyer to shorten it then to lengthen it! ^.^

    7. Wow, you have come a long way with her face I think. I like her a lot. Very expressive

    8. [IMG]

that happens when you forget the oven T.T the one in the back was a tail segment and that in the front was a face I was sooo happy about and worked on for about 3/4 hours T.T

    9. Oh noes!!!! Poor thing. Is that the really pretty face from your last update pics?! >~< A tip about sculpey, when you are working that small, you almost NEVER need to use the full amount of time the instructions reccommmend. If it says 15 min, you only need about 9-11 min.

    10. yeah... but this has been in for about 30 minutes XD my little brother went to look where that smell came from XD

and it wasnt the face of the other photo's it was a simular face but a bit longer... becous the other one is a bit round and more childisch I tried to make one that looked more mature XD

    11. Hasel,

Sorry this happened. Sculpey fumes are very toxic, I hope you didn't breath any of it in and I also hope you don't use the same oven for food. Sometimes you can avoid scorching by putting an aluminum tent over the sculpt.

    12. lol *dies*

I bet my and my little brothers brains are melting right now u.u''

I didnt knew they were toxic... and yes we use the same oven for food ( only oven I got with a temerature regulator... and I dont know if the other one get's hot enoug but I'm going to test it) And I'll use the aluminium tent!

Thanks for all the tips and information!

    13. i read about someone who bakes her sculpy in 2 turkey roasting pans - the cheap aluminum foil ones you get at the grocery store --- one upside down on top of the other to make an inner compartment that catches the vast majority of the bad chemicals that are deposited when the polymer clay is baked....

haven't tried it myself yet because i'm too clutzy to get the top pan to sit on the bottom one without falling off --- but you could tray that.

i bake my polymer in a tiny toaster oven out in the garage which works ok too....

best of luck doing the new pieces --- that is so disappointing when that happens!

    14. Okay! and update!

I love love love her, she is becomming so sexy and sensual *skips off to make her second nipple*

    15. She's so gorgeous! I love seeing your progress, she's coming along really nicely!!

    16. I use an electric turkey roaster to bake polymer clay in it has a temp control just like an oven, and I always set a timer, sorry they burned
      barb

    17. Thanks Barb, but here in the netherlands such things are kind of hard to come by, turkey isnt such common food here, only with christmas you can find a turkey to buy...

    18. She's incredible. I love the face and the fins on her tail segment. I can't wait to see the big fin at the bottom.

    19. Thanks Sommersdai :D

    28. Wow - she's BEAUTIFUL. <3

    29. That is an amazing piece of work - she looks beautiful. And I love the poses you've done with her. She seems like a perfect mermaid - both a bit melancholy, but also playful.
Can't stop staring at the picture of her sitting in the window sill - it's so full of atmosphere.
      Impressed and delighted. :)

    30. I completely agree with Zidora - she's gorgeous! I love the poses also, they really have the feel of a mermaid body.

I wish she could come live with me - then I'd take her to the sea (:

    31. ...eep...
      I love this doll!! :D
      You are truly talented!!!

    32. Aww thanks everyone XD I'm blushing so much right now! I'm really suprised myself how well she came out since she's just my first doll and I'm so happy so much people seem to think that she's pretty! <3

@ Lilly, I'm planning to cast her, if you would seriously want to buy her I could cast her for you to if the cast for myself comes out wel :D

    33. I love her, she looks so graceful and melancholy. Its as if theres something shes looking for, but has yet to find.

    34. She came out amazing! Great job!

    35. Wow! I am blown away at the skill that went into her! She is wonderful!

    36. I've been stalking you for a while....GAR SHE'S SO GORGEOUS.

You gonna cast her? If so, count mein for a preorder! > 3<

    37. XD omg Abbychan, the whole house here was asking why I sqeeued so loud XD *lols*

Thanks, you totally made my day <3

      *goes to sand some more*

and how the workscedule is now I want to cast her in the weekend of 17 and 18 may, but I've never casted bevore so I have no idea how it will work out... and I still have to get my dad to lent me his stuff for it XD

    38. I'm serious though! I've always had a fascination with mermaids, and your girl is GORGEOUS! She also poses fantastically, and I just wanna play with her fins. O 3O

    39. Thanks Abbychan :D

I finally made a face I'm 100% satisfied with :D it has all the same characteristics the prefies faces had to but now I like the stylisation better, I had a really hard time not to try to make her eyes lay deep in her face and make her cheeckbones XD I really like this better.

Now I'm going to take her apart again, repair some small bits and sand till she's as soft as a babybutt XD

    40. Ohmigosh, her hands are so pretty and her nose is delicious. O_______O

    41. Those hands are awesome! I love the smooth lines of her features, and the tail is growing on me. (badum-cha) I can't wait to see it all painted and complete!

    42. I think you said before that you have two faces, one more cute and one more sexy. Are you gonna cast both?

    43. I now have 4 faces XD I will cast the face that's pictured with the red wig.

At least for now... maybe later I'll make another set of face and finns...

    44. omg i LOVE the tail! She has the most perfect and gorgeous fins! :aheartbea

    45. she is amazing, i love her tail! the view of her sitting, resting on a hand, back to the camera, is wonderful, the line of her back, with the little fins!

    46. She's awsome. Would you consider doing a human torso too :abambi:

    47. oh my she is so gorgeous now~ I love the old face but the new one is even better!

    48. I really like her. The hands are so expressive. Very nice work.

    49. Thanks everyone :D

I asked my dad to help me make molds, bought play doh today so maybe ( if he has time and everything) I'll be starting with it tomorro :o

      I'm really exited XD

And no, I'm not going to make a human torso 1. I dont want to 2. she has mermaid ears and I would have to recreate her head wich makes me dont want to do that even more XD

      sorry

    50. .......GAHYAY! I can't wait to see her casted! I'm currently trying to make arms on my dollie. Her shoulders are still too big. GRAH.

    51. I made her shoulders to big at first to and then sanded till my own arms fell of and they looked ok

minus point, I have all the mold making stuff but my dad doenst seem to have any time for it :( he's also not so sure if it will work. It makes me worried... maybe I should just ask bobobie if they want to cast her and send the clay version to them. ( I first wanted to cast myself to experience eveything of the process) But I'm also scared something could happen with the clay version when I send it to china D: Parcels do get lost...

    52. She's so beautiful! I love the tail.

    53. she's gorgeous! out of curiosity? how much would you sell a cast of her for? and can I ask, how "tall" she is? or should that be how long she is? lol

Id be very interested in buying one from you ^_^ so put me on the waiting list ^.^if there is one! I shall keep stalking this thread for more updates! she’s absolutely beautiful!

    54. Thanks :D

She's slightly taller then 30 cm XD that's inclusiv tail!

I'm contacting Bobobie to cast her for me, cous I'm to much of a chicken to try myself since my dad said he wasnt sure if it would work ( and I kind of was counting on him)

So I'm not sure for how much bobobie wants to be paid per cast... I need to send her first ( scary D: )

I also have the financial problem, bobobie wants to cast at least 50, so that's a lot XD at least I think it's a lot! And I myself dont have to money yet to pay that, I will try to convince my parents to invest there money into it XD but I'm not sure if they will. Dennis suggested preorders but I dont really like the thought of that, becous you would need to order something bevore you see the finished product... I'm afraid I would dissapoint peole.

But I will contact you when she will get casted!

    55. Thank you ^_^ for saying you would contact me!

I was going to Suggest doing a pre-order, I’m sure 50 people would want her ^_^ if she was somewhere between £200-£400 ($400-$800) I could probably afford her.

People know that when they buy things like this, that its a gamble, and I don’t think many people would take part in a pre-order of an un-cast doll, if they weren’t entirely in love with the doll, no matter what she turned out like in the end.

I guess its just waiting to hear what Bobobie and your parents say?

Maybe if you started a "test" pre-order list? to proove to your parents that you could sell 50 if she got cast?

    56. The test preorder list is a good idea! Thanks for suggesting it!

Now how should I go about that... cous not everyone reads the artist section, I think I'll ask a mod what the right thing to do is ^.^

    57. shes sooooo pretty XD
i love how you did her Tail XD
      really kewl <3

    58. oh! I should have thought of that! yes I would ask a MOD ^^ dont want to step on any ones toes ^.^;

      Would you be able to add me to the "test pre-order" list? if it goes ahead? if that wouldnt be too much trouble? Im going to be away for 48 hours due to work ^^; and wont get chance to check this thread until Monday -_-;

    59. Ooh, add me to the preorder list! I think maybe $400-$800 is a little expensive for a 30 cm dollie, especially since it's artist made and you're just starting out. I'll try to get money, but I would totally trade a resin version of my dollie. xDDDD

    60. Congratulations! The way she poses is amazing!
