I finally made a face I'm 100% satisfied with :D it has all the same characteristics the prefies faces had to but now I like the stylisation better, I had a really hard time not to try to make her eyes lay deep in her face and make her cheeckbones XD I really like this better.

Now I'm going to take her apart again, repair some small bits and sand till she's as soft as a babybutt XD

    2. Awww! i think she's cute. Chubby really isn't my personal preference, but you are doing a really good job so far! :)

    3. I like that you're making a mermaid. I can't wait to see how she turns out. She looks really cute so far. :)

    4. Interesting. I'm curious as to how you'll be making the fin.

    5. Thanks for your comments Miss Pygmalion and The Lost Lamb :D

Her tail is getting more and more the shape I wanted it to have :D It need a bit sanding here and there, and I need to finish and make the other fin/vin. I have finished two heads now. They both look good, one more sexy and this one more cute. I dont know wich one I like better D:

She's now 32 cm from head to tail... so I dont think she's officially a tiny anymore... although I still think she fits the tiny better becous of the size of her torso and head.

      23 april

Her arms need a lot of work... the elbow joint is harder then I thought :( het tail needs more segments as I thought. But I really love her new face, this will be the face I will cast! It's exactly how I imagened her

more photo's somwhere in the thread, let's hope photobucket leaves them alone XD

      22 april again

XD I´m on a roll, keep going on today while I only thought to work on her for about an hour or so... so another update, she´s so pretty! I´m falling in love with my own mermaid XD

And look! she can sit without anything supporting her! the vins were such a good idea XD and when the rest of the tail is there it will help balance out the weigt of the upperbody (cous she doenst has arms yet and those will make her more top heavyer also...)

      22 april

Havent worked on her for a while becous I've been busy with school, I probaly wont make my exams... wich wont be so bad as long as I get into artschool, I dont want to be another year on this school and the diplom doesnt has any valeu to me, and not much in the real world of work and employemnet etc.

But I just finished her third tail segment and strung her :D I'm so happy with it, she's so sexy!

I now will give her nipples, little fins at the second tail segment and make the fourth segment ( only 3 to go and I'll get to start on the tail fins! <3 )

      Yaaay update!

well I got sculpey XD it's strange to work with something that goes into the oven... I even managed to burn it XD I'm a really bad cook!

it goes really fast and it's so easy to work with the face come out exactly as I wanted ( a combi of the happy and the sad sisters faces XD ) I now worked 2,5 day with it!

oh and she'll be a bit bigger now, I think between 20-30 cm

I also decided to start a new head, not as replacement but as her "sad sister" since the first head was so happy... the sad sister still needs a name :o ... the first head's name is koi ( after the big pretty fishes! ) it's far from finished yet but I like it. I also think I should buy some 6 mm eyes... cous the 8 mm I have are to big... the irisis fill the whole eye 0.o'

      click http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/hamkaastostie/HPIM8468.jpg

And I finished Koi's ears XD I like them! I tried to make fins to her lower arms but I failed... I might try again XD

      3 okt

I finished her first arm, and her second arm is nearly finished as well :D she now has a headcap and also ears... wich I'm still not sure about... first I didnt wanted to add them at all but it looked to empty, now I want to add something fischy to her ears, I also sander her chin and cheecks a bit more... I also finished the first two parts of her tail! :D

Her arm works :D I only need to pull the string from the ohter side cous she doesnt has her other arm yet. her hands are attached a bit weird but that will be better as soon she is caster ( if she get's casted... I need to purseu my dad to use his stuff XD )
      photo1photo2

Here she is in full glory :D

      22 sept

I made her face, part of her headcap, her hands, torso and a partially arm now XD it's much harder then I thought and it requires lots of sanding D:

The photo didnt came out so well :( she looks a bit weird while in rl she looks so cute (and chubby).

    6. Oooo the tail is gonna be so cool! You could probably do a Naga that way too.

    7. Thanks Linetramp and Mare of night.

Yes indeed XD I hadnt thought of that yet... but to be honest... I dont like snakes so much <.<'

    8. I can't wait to see her finished and she what you do with the tail!

    9. Ah! She is looking so adorable, I really like the way you are doing the fin! And I think adding something "fischy" to her ears would look really cute too. Keep up the good work!

    10. she's so beautiful,I love her smile and her face.:D

    11. :bump Bumpsies *poke poke* Update? What does the new head look like? Is it just a second head or taking the place of the old one?

    12. It's just a second head :) I wanted to give her a "sister" and then one that's more the opposite of her, so less chubby face and looking more serious then happy :D

I will update later today... finishing the third segment for the tail... and starting the fourth today :D and the second head is like... half done XD

The clay I work with makes it all go very slow, it takes 5 days to dry bevore I can sand it. so it takes at least 6 days for a segment to finish P:

    13. Ohnmigosh! I lovsies the second head! Just one thing. If she is thinner, her nose should be a little more dainty. <3 Thanks for the update!

    14. I'm glad you love her! :D I still need to work on her and refine her a lot XD

      =U.U= What means dainty?

    15. Wow, she's really charming. I'm personally liking the 'sad face', and am totally impressed by how well you've done the tail.
I also love how cartoonish her body expressions are, like she's straight out of an old B&W cartoon. Very expressive, but simplified and cute at the same time.

    16. Cute little mermaid :) I can't wait to see her all finished!

    17. Oops! Sorry. T.T; Dainty means... delicate, or feminine. That help?

    18. Thanks Kitsuneudon ( what a name XD ) and doughgiirl

XD Thank you for the explanaition! :D I now understand it! and now I can explain her nose to! I havent finished sanding it, cous i want to finish her headshape first, cous when I sand of to much it takes again a few days to sculpt more onto it >.<'

    19. Wow, I'm really loving the way the body is turning out. I just love the way the tail moves all around! And I really like what you've done with your happy sister's ears. They're too cute.

    20. She is looking good!

    21. The tail is looking pretty awesome ~<3

    22. For lack of better words, all I can say is that she is really. REALLLYYYY. cool! :XD: I love that tail so much!

    23. Not my taste, but it looks great ^__^

    24. Thanks everyone :D

I'm thinking about also trying to make a third headsculpt... and try to get it more stylized then they are now... becous that was actually my original idea >.<'

    25. Your mermaid is looking pretty kewl! Hope to see finished pictures of her and her sister soon.

    26. Bump for updates?

    27. It's going a bit slow... some "events" happened and I didnt had much concentration to work on her... I did finish another tail pieve but that's not really worth an update... since I didnt took any photo's >.<"

    28. Okays. Sorry fer nagging. Patience is not a virtue I have much of. >.<;;

    29. XD It's not nagging! I like to notice that people are so interested :D

And I need a kick in the but now and then! ;)

    30. WOW! That is extreamly clever to think about sectioning off the tail like that.. ^_^;;

    31. Very cool, have you thought about scalloping the edges of the tail sections, to give the illusion of scales? Just an idea.

    32. I love her body,she has a really cute belly button *^^*

    33. Aww, thanks LadySenshi :D I've never been called clever bevore :D

Fitz, yes I've thought about that :) but I first want to finish the rought shape of the tail, and then the finns, and then see if she wouldnt get to crowded with scales.

      Thanks Gali Miau

    34. this is creative idea!! I like the body.

    35. Augh. Accidentally killed my post-in-progress.

Short version: Love the body so far. Heads are good but need a bit more skull, especially the happy one. The eyeline should divide the head in half -- or it can be even lower for added cuteness. Try building up the top of the head more, and you'll see the difference.

The sad face is really very charming. Are you planning to eventually cast these for sale?

    36. Thanks, I might... if I can work out how to cast and think they have enough qaulity to sell :)

I have to agree with you on the proportions of her face...u.u'

    37. *pokepoke* Bumpsies for updates? I went back to work on mine, are you still working on yours? ;)

    38. Wow!That mermaid body is simply awesome!
I am very impressed, you are sooo talented X)
      *claps hands*
kudos and kudos for you, very good!
      ^ ^
      (>'.'<)
      ...
      o

    39. :o I shall finish the head soon, and the tail is aaaalmost ready, a tiny bit of sanding. I'll try to get up pics soon!

    40. *-*~ Wow, that tail is so cool. It's really very nice. :3

    41. written update

      a small one

yesterday I tried something new, I took the heads of the happy sister and the sad sister and cut them both in half. I will now use the happy sisters mouth and nose and the sad sisters eyes. I only need to sculpt them toghether and sand sand sand.

I did this becous sculpting the third head was a total failure... I liked it but didnt liked it... it had all the ingredients but still was ugly XD

    42. That tail is amazing. It looks like she will be able to sit? You are so clever! I can't wait to see her finished!

    43. Hasel, i though your idea was so fantastic that i am now trying to make my own mermaid too (hope you don't mind). I've always been crazy about mermaids since i was a child, and your work really inspired me to do this. Thank you for the inspiration!
I hope i can do it at least half as well as you're doing yours
      X)

    44. Aww, thanks XD That's a huge compliment! please show me pictures or a link to your thread cous I'm super curious now!

    45. I love her torso! I feel like i could poke it with a finger and the skin would give way. :D yayyyy

    46. Ok Hazel, i'll PM you some pictures=)

    47. Wish to see a finished mermaid!

The only question is - how to make her stand?..
You can take an aquarium, just don't pour any water in it =)

    48. she probaly cant stand XD

and we have a pond in the backyard ;)

    49. is it possible for her to sit upright on her own?

    50. I have no idea yet u.u'' I think she might can, but I keep changin my ideas so I havent be able to put her toghether yet, they clay is to fragile for it so I should cast her first.

    51. looking good, cant wait to see it finished!

    52. I have been looking for something like this! I wanted to know if it would be possible to make a naga type BJD and by what you've done here its looks possible

    53. I LOVE THESE FACES. They look like Chris Sanders' art...he's the guy who did the designs for Lilo and Stitch and voiced Stitch. A wonderful direction here!

    56. She is so beautiful! I never thought I could love a mermaid XD I like how she looks a little more realistic than most dolls.

    57. Hazel, she's got a very pretty face, I'm glad that you're finally moving along with your mermaid, I've been waiting for updates :)
