I'd like to say add me to your list for her but I'm not working now, I'm in college. I want to take some sculpting courses over the summer though and hopefully I'll get some fans to put on a waiting list also, whether I do BJD's or another kind of doll.

You have a tremendous amount of talent to be able to make a doll like this, I think !

Oh, and imagine she was just a little head no more than a couple of weeks ago. She is looking very nice Kaye. I hope that more lovely dolls will come from the Head a day challenge.

In my opinion, if you're going to mess with her, for me, anyway, LOL... not that she NEEDS anything changed, but I would shorten the arms just a bit, and take up the differance in her hands by making them a bit bigger! I love expressive hands! Lengthwise, though, I think it's just right!

Also, I don't know if it's just the angle of the camera, but it seems the lower right arm is longer than the left. Just "picking" at it to help you in case you're still fine tuning

For me I don't like the way the shoulders come down instead of the top of the arm forming part of the shoulder this forces the arms futher down. I think the head is too large and the hands are nice but look like she has gloves on as they are not refined. The hands look the right size to me they could even be bigger I like the espression of the fingers, but the lines on the hands and feet and the finger and toe nails look like they were done quickly if that makes sense. I love nicely sculpted hands and feet. Not sure how you will make the head smaller though as the width of the face seems to wide that would require moving features... eeks. Note this is a critique! of course I am not the artist so its up to you but this is what I would be thinking if I sculpted her.

 

weeeellll, if you're looking for suggestions from other eyes... here's what I could see... (not that I personally think that anything NEEDS to be changed....

1. I think with a face like that she should have a little bit of a belly. :P I like a bit of a pudgy belly on a little pixie like that.

2. her ankles seem a bit heavy compared to the rest of her... but I'm not sure if there's anything you can do about that without compromising the resin strength.

3. The shoulders seem like they might come out far enough to hinder movement... is it possible to bring them in just a tad? then she might look a little more balanced.

anyways, those are my suggestions. hope they help!

oh, and I DO think that the hands could be a tad bigger.... I think if the hands were a bit bigger, and she had a bit of a belly, then her head wouldn't look so big any more. it's just that her face is a tad chubby, but the rest of her isn't.

Im looking at her again ...yeah ...the shoulders ...she looks fine with her arms down. beautiful shoulder line . perfect for an off the shoulder dress
but with her arm up ...its throwing her arm out of line
she looks a little like she need, some off the shoulders to get her arm to go up

she is truly wonderful..... I am really looking forward to seeing her in person!

i was wondering if you might consider shortening the upper arm and making it a bit thinner. especially if your final hands are a bit larger.... but rather than shortening the shoulders - I was wondering if you might consider making her rib cage abit more robust, and so the top of the lower part of her abdomen could also be larger which would give the slightly larger tummy folk were asking about....

I really love her legs... and her face is just wonderful.

 

I think she might be a bit short from the top of her hip to the bottom of her groin, and it shortens her torso... that might be what's making her arms look long too? I feel a little shy saying it, but I am not really a fan of the nipples - they seem a little button-like. :

The rest looks great though. I love the legs... though you're probably right, they would be improved by thickening.

 

Oh my gosh I absolutely love her! I'm rather picky when it comes to dolls, so sending me head over heels in love with one is incredible! Considering any critique I might have given has already been said, I'm just going to say keep up the fantastic work and I can't wait for the chance (someday....gawd I hope someday!) to have one come home. ^^ 33 *curses her lack of funds*

its funny, I don't see her with a "chubby" body necessarily..... but was just thinking maybe with a more standard slim body - you might hit a happy in between place.

whatever you decide - she is going to be wonderful....

Kaye, I love her, I can see she is coming to life before our very eyes (lucky us).....I can also see its a delicate and difficult task to create a bjd, so well done and keep up such beautiful work..

 

She's adorable! I love her little face - it's awkward, but in a really cute way. I love your idea for the transparent wings! You should do it~

 

Maybe longer fingers and I think the upper half of the torso is a little short.

 

Hi Kaye...I think the changes you've made are good! I'm probably weird as well (no..I know I am... lol)..but I like the pointy boobies as well. I'm impressed with how quickly you've made her! It's taken me 3 months and I'm still not finished...I don't think I'll be making another doll anytime soon!
Great job on your pixie..can't wait to see some made up in your style.

 

I think, instead of shortening the arms, maybe re-align the shoulder socket so that there is less gap at the top of the socket between the arm and the shoulder area.. this might mean putting some more clay at the lower end of the socket to raise the position of the arm up.

Personally I *really* like the new, little boobs. I am also a big fan of the 'slight tummy/potbelly'-suggestion that was made a couple of pages back.

How is the hip-joint working, can she sit down and stuff? Was thinking that if you bring the front of the hip socket up a bit you wouldn't need that deep crease around the top of the thighs.

 

I love the little boobies, she looks like a pre-teen baby, so cute.
There is nothing I don't like about her. Sigh.

suggestion for her feet: geta/tabi toes! that way she could wear cute little sandals.

Kaye she's adorable. I like the changes you've made and I think that the extra changes you're planning on making will definitely put the finishing touch on her. I hear what you say about getting tired of it if you don't hurry with it... that's what's happening to me I do envy your energy

 

I love her face to pieces. Every time I look at it, it's just more and more perfect.

I think her body is great - I especially like the round bum. The only thing that really bothers me is that her pelvic and pubic regions appear unnaturally short vertically. In relation to the thighs the width is ok, but the broadness of the shoulders kind of give her a more masculine, upside down triangle shape.
