my little pixie "Sage" - finished pics page 6 [COMPLETED]

Mar 8, 2008

    1. I wanted to share my little pixie. I sculpted her head last week when we were having the sculpt a day challenge and I loved the tiny size so I have been sculpting her body at night and almost finished her. She is a funny looking little thing but I think she is cute in a big nose/big ears/funny face kind of way.. if you know what I mean!?
She is about 11 and a half inches tall.
I made a rough mold of her head and cast her so I could see what she looked like in resin.
[IMG] Think I may need to shorten her arms a little and I still have to cut and joint one knee than sand everything smooth.
[IMG] head cast and painted and strung on her Sculpy torso.
[IMG] here she is wearing a Jpop wig.
I love her size .. she is about as big as a Barbie doll so fits nicely in my hand.
      :)

    2. Kaye - you are absolutely amazing!

do you think you might sell casts? if i could get the money together, i'd love to get her -

see! you win! you got a bjd ready to cast, and PERFECT! in 2 weeks.

      so beautiful...

(ps - how do you cut your baked sculpy? what kind of blade.... i seem to be too klutzy with the exacto...)

    3. So cute! I adore her nose, and to think you managed to sculpt it in one week! :)

    4. awe! i want one of her! :)

    5. She's totally cute. <3 I'd want one of her too!

    6. She's the sweetest!:aheartbea I think Poppy would like a sister :)
I like the idea that she can fit in your hand too! Let us know what her future holds for us all and keep up the beautiful work.:love

    7. She is very cute :aheartbea
I'm glad to see you starting a new project !! Never stop !

    8. I love her face, what a sweety....

The second photo really shows her well! She seems like she's very versatile and can pull off many styles.

    9. Absolutely darling! Her arms are real life length :)
      Darling!
      QZ

    10. How CUTE O_O. I love her face! The width between her eyes is really sweet! And her size... sounds so cute :D. I am so coming back to see the progress on this cute girl.

    11. Adorable!
      She's absolutely amazing.
      She looks so cuddly ;_;

    12. Ooo, so pretty! I just love your sculpts-they all have emotion, what you can feel very clearly! Theyre so unique! Congrats ^^

    13. Oh my, she is perfect! And a tiny Kaye doll--a dream come true. Please, do you still have your old waiting list for her, I know i am on it somewhere, if not, please re-ad me, if you plan on making this darling to sell!

    14. The nose is super cute.

    15. Awwwwww thanks everyone. I posted this last night and just got out of bed to find her thread was up. I'm so thrilled you like her .. I like her too but I find it hard to know how others will feel about a piece I've done because I kind of judge my work by how I feel for a piece not how pretty she looks .. if you know what I mean!
Anyway .. I'm not sure what I will do with her. I am negotiating with someone at the moment to have her cast but I can't promise anything for now. I'll keep you all posted :)
      :aheartbea
      Kaye

    16. She's really darling Kaye! I love the faceup your original sculpt has. Love her chubby nose and big ears!!!! ^_~

      Raven

    17. Thanks PatL .. still a long way to go with her .. I have to make a set of waste molds now and smooth her for the production molds if I want to sell her. I will probably sell casts but not sure yet.
I have visions of sculpting her some delicate wings and casting them in transparent resin with a bit of pearl powder added but not exactly sure what I'll do!!

I use a disposeable surgical scalpel for cutting .. an exacto knife is too hard for me to use too. Try medical supplies for them or maybe some of the doll craft suppliers will have them. I could send you a box but not sure they would pass customs??

      :D
      Kaye

    18. Kaye...she is wonderful! I really love her! I think sometimes when artists don't think too much about a project..and just do it..it usually turns out better than expected. PatL mentioned something about that and I think it's so true. Great work!

    19. Kaye, she's wonderful, I'll also be anxiously waiting to see the final piece!

    20. Kaye, remember that I am on your tiny waiting list.
      Still waiting patiently . . . . . .
      She's wonderful!!!!

    21. She is adorable..I really do love her. Add me to your waiting list..I've emailed you. I am just loving that little face..so pretty yet cheeky in an elfish way....oh and those ears...sooo cute. What a brillant job you've done.

    22. Oh yes e-mailed as well :D I think this is the first time I've been taken enough with an artist sculpt to just jump right on board! Gosh her face and size are just perfect. *Crosses fingers and wishes really hard*.

    23. sent you an e-mail to be on a possible waiting list for this little one. she is just amazing! i absolutely am in love with her face. :)

    24. SO cute --- yes first thing I thought was oh her arms are really long! ;) of course after I saw her cute face..

    25. answered all emails .. thanks everyone .. got 10 on my list so far!!!

Treelore .. I will be shortening the arms just a little.

    26. Yeh the arms grew on me in the last 5 mins, just a little is good ;)

Do you cast in regular resin or is it french? also will you be doing posing pictures etc.... I love to see a doll sit and stand well of course and would love to see a full back shot of the body. So you are still working on the whole body?

    27. Yes Treelore .. I'm still working on her body. I'll take more pics when she cast. I have strung her and she stands and sits well. I want to do waste molds for her and clean them up and send her off for production so I'll string her then and show her different poses and views of the body. I think she will be in regular resin but not 100% sure. I'll let you know as I get more info myself.
      :) Kaye

    28. Oh yeah~ what size eyes do you have her wearing right now :D?

    29. 10mm eyes think!!! and she takes 5-6" wig

    30. here's some pics of her fat little bum!! I'll be making the joint in the other leg tonight.

    32. it is very pretty, it is a baby elf?

    33. Kaye, her little body is lovely, I am loving everything about this little girl. I really like the shape of her legs and as for her fat bottom...adorable.

    34. oh wow she is so cute , if you start selling her I will surely try to start saving up for her. :)

    35. She's adorable. I like her arms that length. Elves do have their own proportions. Very cute and love the freckled faceup.

      Kaye

    41. I so love your little girl, I am sad I do not have a lot of money ....... well maybe someday lol

    42. In the first picture her bottom lip looks smaller than the other pictures is it? I prefer a smaller bottom lip and wondering if its just a matter of painting it smaller.

    43. Hi Treelore, It's just a matter of painting it smaller :)

    44. If I could get enough money I would be interested in buying one. She is so lovely in an oddball way. :)

    45. gah if i wasnt saving up money for another bjd id snap yours up in a heartbeat :)

I hope you get enough emails to do a second cast line, if so i may be on that list ;)

    46. Hi all,
I just updated the marketplace thread to say she will definately be produced professionally :) I have 38 on my list so that's enough to go ahead .. I'm so thrilled and excited!!!
I should have more info in about 2 weeks so I'll keep you informed.
      Hugs to everyone :aheartbea
      Kaye

    47. She is adorable!! What a wonderful job!

    48. Excellent! Shall be waiting and watching...I've said it before, but really I need to say it again..she is adorable and you've done a brilliant job.

    49. Can I ask HOW to make one? I really want to make one. I already do sculpting with Polymer Clays I'm working on a lady sculpt now but she's not hollow. How do you make a hollow body like this? How do you attach the pieces?
I'm so interested, please help me learn too!!
      Thanks for your consideration :)

    50. Hi DanceCat.
I sculpt the arms and legs around straws or pieces of plastic tubing in various widths depending on the size of doll I am making. This gives you the hollow inside of the stringing. For the body I use wider plastic tubing if it's for a tiny or I have even used the cardboard in a toilet roll for larger dolls :o I slit it down the length of the roll and fold it in to the size I want for the core of the piece and staple it together then sculpt around that.

      Hope that helps some
      :)
      Kaye

    51. Where do you buy your plastic tubing? :)

    52. Oh Kaye:
Thank you for making such an adorable pixie for us!
I think she will go perfect as the younger sister for my Poppy.
Can you put me on your list of interested buyers?
      I'll save my pennies!
Do you think it will be hard to find outfits to make her as a young pixie wearing innocent clothing? I know Barbie's are kind of slim...and too grown up for me.
She's very special...Love her to bits!

    53. I get it at my local hardware store. It comes in rolls so I stick wooden skewers or chopsticks down the centre of the tubing to straighten it then pop it in the oven at about 100C for a few minutes to set it straight, once it cools you can take the skewers or whatever out of the centre and you have straight tubing.

    54. auhhhh, i didnt see it get asked but i may have missed it, are you going to cast one in blue?

    55. *dies just thinking about it*.... Kaye, she's what I've been waiting for ever since you first mentioned wanting to make a tiny!!! Good grief. I'm head over heels.

    56. Merrichan ..... Yes, you can choose white, normal, pink, blue, green or lilac .. the colours are a little extra price.

      Estrellabird ... don't die!!!! :o
thanks :) I added you to my list.

    57. Thanks .. added you to the list :)
Not sure about clothing .. I'll have look into that as I have no idea what other dolls are available in this size.

    58. beautiful, especially love the last pic.

    59. I love her! Put me on the waiting list....if there is one!
