That is awesome. Do you plan on selling these? You could do custom colors!! Awesome! I would buy one.
Those colors are so juicy!! Just as others commented on, totally makes you think of Jolly Rancher candy. I love your little sweeties!!
That's a great idea : candy BJD to eat ! ;-D Find a way to cast your dollies in sugar and fruity flavored arabic gum, with chewing gum as strings. And you'll make a fortune ! (And dentists will thank you all around the world). I want candy BJDs !
I love that you made them in see thru colors. The details are harder to see but they are really cute from what I can make out. And umm... yes, they remind me of jolly ranchers too (make mine in watermelon). Is the color hard to add? I mean is it possible to "bleed" the colors from part to part? It would be so cool to have the head clear and have the body gradually become another color to the feet. Mmm... like purple. Just a thought.
Agreed on the 'they look edible!' opinion! And aside from that, they're just so very sweet-looking, and beautifully poseable!
if you mean to bleed the color in one part, then i think it's impossible, but if mean to make each part different color, then it should be ok, just adding more drops of color . i use synthetic watercolors, it's easy to add, but if i add too much the resin stays liquid, if it's too little it fades out while drying
Ah ha! He's thinking about future business! XD But yeah, they look very cool and rather tasty. If I could choose a color it'd probably be a nice cool blue-green.
Such a peculiar but novel idea! I like it. This is unique and quite a fresh idea. Looking forward to seeing more pics~
I just see this topic and I love them!! they are incredible! But I have just one question? How will you fix the eyes without them looking... well... eyes? I have read you will use glu but what of the back of the eyes? or the headcap once you give her a wig (if she will have a wig)? Doesn't all the "interior" piece look particular because of the transparency?
i've never seen something like them before.. icy girl and sweet candy girl (: very original idea and the girls are cuties
WOW! They look fantastic!!! I love your proportions. I've been looking for a doll with a nice set of hips and yours are perfect! The colored transparent resin is an excellent idea as well!! I'd totally buy a green one.(Pssst- if you plan on selling let me know ^.^) Good luck with the headcap!
Wow its' like you took the thought outta my head! I'd always wondered what a doll might be like if made of a clear resin. =) awesome
They are SO unique and beautiful! I love how they look, and only wish you were able to cast one in the resin that simulates glass, and I'm sure that doll would look amazing with these two! Either way...their sculpt is WAY cute, and in the clear resin they're just amazing little dolls!
Actually, there are. They use them for stringing beads. Stretch Magic Jewelry Cord is one brand. You could also look into sewing notions; I am pretty sure I have seen clear elastic for sewing. Owari, have you tried sanding them? I bet it is hard to sand them without leaving a frosted effect. But then, I bet they look cool that way, too.
thanks for so many nice comments, i didn't expect them at all here's the las one, casted in polyurethane resin. don't pay much attention to her make up and clothes, please, they were done just in one hour. the face is different from the transparent ones. i've done other tiny dolls and their head fits perfectly this body! oh, the elastics are temporal, i'll have to find the ones for jewellery, i hope they'll fit better, because the hand and feet hole are too small.
the frosted effect is nice, but there are special sanding paste, so i have to clean/sand them with a cloth and that paste and they become all transparents, but i'm not patient, i only sanded some parts and i couldn't take good photos of it. you are welcome i think there was that sort of resin as well but it was 3 times more expensive and it dries so quick that i was afraid of using it. but they told me that it was the most resistant resin of all. so maybe one day.... that part is not that transparent because i didn't polish the head inside before casting, i just see blurs but not eyes. i also planned to make a wig, but now they are bald, i hide it with a hat :P these one don't have the head cap yet but they'll have a wig, i hope, bald is not very nice i think thanks hips are important! although i've been trying to make a dress and believe me they don't seem so nice after that. or maybe it's just there size, so tiny. what i was thinking when i've made them?
Your dolls are so cute! I love how they look like candy! Have you thought of throwing some glitter and those little confetti stars in the mix? That would be so cute!
here are the hands (of a different doll), they have glitter paint in them. i was afraid to put confetti because the parts are so small that they could brake easily, or the stars just wont fit in the fingers for a example. maybe i'll try to put them in the body parts though here are the heads done in clay (the ears broke when i was taking them out of the mold :P)
Such a lot of work and great results. I like the clear one best. She looks so animated. Please keep posting your work and thanks for sharing!
wow... its very interesting to look at other peoples work^^ maybe i should post some photos of my "experiments" xD i like your dolls, they´re something special... i never saw transparent ones before xD
what cute & fun sculpts! + such a neat use of materials. i often see clear resin at crafy shops here, but never thought of using it for a doll~ i think oyu are an inspiration to a lot of people.
