      I am squeeing like a fangirl ^__^

    9. Wow - this thread is amazing. To see the process of making these dolls to seeing pics of peoples dolls they have bought is just amazing!! the first pics where there were no eyes yet i was a bit 'hmmm....killer cheekbones but i dunno' but i could see the completed face in Donns userpic and was all 'wow!!!'
The finished dolls blow me away!

And OMGAWD!! That last pic posted by Nativelady - the finger nails!!! O.o

    10. Bumping the thread ^___^ Donn should be posting pictures soon guys ^__^

    11. My they are wonderful! And sooo big!

    12. Forgive such a daft question, but, could the catalyst have something to do with the blueshift? So far while researching I've only come across tin and platinum. Both are cool, even blue, in color.

So now I'm wondering, if it is the catalyst, then could a resin be made using a different metal as a catalyst?(catalyst might be wrong word, kinda sleepy, went right through staying up late, and now am up early).

I'm sorry for rambling, just thinking about a zillion things and experimenting with Sculpey Bend and Flex + Super Sculpey(nice and strong when mixed together, and what I can work with now). Working on rooting hair into pate, it's very nice and styleable, but wondering if it would be sellable(counting chickens). Hey, could that be done on a bishonenhouse doll? Of course would require charging extra, but is there a way to encase just the pate in a silicone skin with hair rooted?

Okay, haven't read all the posts(there's so many!), maybe someone's done it before. I know some baby doll artists encase entire babies in silicone skin. Just thinking it would allow for some really natural looking parts and hairlines.

Okay, rambled enough, sorry again, not meaning to threadjack, hope I didn't go too far off-topic.

    13. Hey Everyone,

Sorry for my prolonged absence but ive been completely engrossed finishing custom orders and making new stuff. I displayed at a local anime con a week ago as well and right now ive already begun to get ready for Anime North at the end of May so the crazy summer of displaying at cons begins! :)

Hi Emerald_Night, i still dont have the final mold pulled off the shorter leg sculpts but soon as i do you will be first to know.

Cool, Id love to make him for you :-)

Im sooo glad he arrived safe and sound in Germany! thank you for posting the incredible pics!

      Thank you!

thanks for the bump!!! acexkeikai,.... im doing ace resin tests as i type, ill have something to show hopefully by the end of the week :-)

      Thanks :-)

      Hi Nolita

I have no idea why resin likes to make warm colors come out all cold looking, Its something that can be worked around with careful use of pigments though.

As far as encasing resin parts in a silicone skin, its something ive never tried, it may be possible though.

BTW... Thanks for posting the pic links Brian!! :-)

Head 5 is finally completed!!! I decided to post my finished pics of him in the Gallery since i havent posted anything there in ages

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58234

I will have pics of the finished dark skintone doll posted hopefully soon, hes done i just need to get really good pics of him .

      take care all!
      Donn

    14. Hiya Donn :)
I just went to schmooze your site cause I haven't for a while:blush , and "OMG" what did I see:ablink: ...The most enchanting dark skinned boy I have ever seen...That is just an amazing picture...so artistic and classy..I feel like I peeked through a keyhole, He looks so lifelike:nosebleed ..lol..OK so now I'm a peeping perv thanks to you..hahaha..He's FANTASTIC..Did I mention his resin? NO!..It's gorgeous..(sigh)..I think I'll go look again..Hugs..Jeannie:daisy

    15. Wow! I have to say that I am amazed that you have spent all this time and effort into this, but what a payoff? You have created something that is so amazing LOADS of other people want it. That must be a big ego-boost!

If you were the first out there to create cark skinned dolls, you'd sureley become a name overnight. That would be an awesome thing to do, I'd love a female Grace Jones type doll :D

      So well done :D

    16. Yay people I got pictures from Donn for my Ace =) He's a Headmold no 5 with a special skintone. Donn sent me those yesterday, I hope he doesn't mind me showing them here =) Enjoy!!!! I'm getting my by Thursday or Friday I can't WAIT to hold him!!!!

      SQUEEEEEEEE!!!

    17. He is absolutely scrumcious.

    18. I fired off a PM to someone who owns one of Donn's Lovelies a little while ago. And I really need to know like ASAP, does anyone know the circumference of the heads in Bishonen House?

      It's my best friend's birthday soon, and I'm planning on making her a wig and a little wigstand for her soon to be Bishonen House BJD. n_n;

      Thanks in advance folks!

    19. Oups that's me I keep forgetting to do it... and well I've misplaced my tape measure... but his head is about a little bigger than Hound so 9-10 wigs would do
      Sorry about the wait.

    20. Wow I admire your dolls so much Don! *stare* :o

    21. These are just absolutely beautiful dolls. I love how masculine and strong their features are... My goodness. You have such patience...it's amazing.

    22. Hey, thanks everyone, :)

Sorry ive been a long time absent but ive been really busy filling doll orders and working on new stuff.

I'll be posting some new stuff soon,.. for everyone going to Otakon please stop by Artist Alley at tables L1 and L2,.. I'll have a bunch of new headsulpts and dolls on display, including dolls with new skintones and the unreleased limited Elf1 headsculpt.

thanks again and take care everyone,
      Donn

    23. *takels Donn*

When are you gonna Post up Pics of the Elf-head? How much will it be?
From what time will it be available for? Will it come in every kind of skintones? Or just the regular ones?

      Oh......>_<;; Ok, I'm stopping with all questions...I can wait......>_>;;

      ...Maybe.

    24. Hi Elysion gear

Ok here he is,..not great pics (excuse my messy bedroom in the background), but once he goes for sale on my site (sometimes within the next couple of weeks) I'll have better pics.

He is limited to 15 casts and thats it, the mold will be destroyed. Making him a rare doll indeed. He will be available in any skintone standard and custom. I will actually have a dark skintone elf on display at Otakon.

Since the head is a limited he will be $100, as opposed to the normal $75 i charge for a standard head mold.

at the moment only 12 are left :)

    25. Oh wow, he's gorgeous!! *dies* :chibi

    26. For anyone interested theres an article on my work In the Fall issue of FDQ "fashion doll quarterly" http://www.fashiondollquarterly.com/
Thare are quite a few different types of rocker inspired BJDs in this issue so be sure to check it out,.... sorry for the slightly superfluous post but I just got my copy today and i cant stop smiling,... Ive never been in a magazine before :-)

      take care,
      Donn

    27. Wow congratulations! Your boys (well men) look great, and a magazine appearance is always exciting!

    28. Congrats Don! Your boys are indeed amazing!

    29. I'll have to see if my brother can pick up a copy for me. Where I live, the magazine selection is really... nonexistant. No one up here likes to read! Crazy people...

    30. Wow!

      That's all. Just, Wow!

      also, which headsculpt is this?

    31. Very cool. Hey what brand/kind of resin and dyes are you using? Smooth On?

    32. Ok, I'm laaate but I have a question concerning the dolls "male anatomy" 8D. I hear people say that it makes putting on pants impossible, but why don't you just accomadate for it like in real mens clothes? You're going for a more realistic doll after all XD
      Just a thought `.`

    33. Hi Donn, I admire you dolls and thank you for the core mold tutorial you did. I find it very insightful. Just one question about the tutorial: Do you manually drill the holes in the shoulders and the neck after it has been casted? Because I was looking at the core for the hollow in the torso and it doesn't connect with the shoulders and neck. which makes sense because otherwise it would have been impossible to take out the cores. Anyway, keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing your next updates.

    34. Wow, such a gorgeous guy, I'm looking foward to order one of your beauties next year. :aheartbea

    35. Donn,

so, earlier in this thread, you posted something about an aversion to limited editions, so whats up with the limited elf heads? :(

(not trying to be hateful, just curious.)

    36. WAHHAAA I remember you! I saw your dolls at some anime-thing before I knew about BJD's! OMG LOVE! Ahahahaha I love them! All I remember is you telling my friend they were anatomically correct and she almost pissed herself <3 You've done an amazing job, holy crap you are to pro <3<3

    37. First off thanks everyone for the kind words and compliments, Im sorry its taken me so long to respond but the past 2 months have been kinda crazy, I moved myself and my entire studio 200 miles south of Pittsburgh to the country in WV. I plan on expanding my workshop this spring and the cost of land in the city is too expensive to make that feasable. Also since the article in FDQ ive been verry busy, im now booked up on orders untill mid Jan (i now have a waiting list!!)

Anyway, the move went well and im finally getting things back to "normal" :)

thats headsculpt 3, hes my most popular sculpt at the moment. :)

My resin is a custom bend of different brands, the dyes i use are Smoothons though, i mix different amounts of brown, yellow and red to get my skintones...

Unlike actual "male anatomy" resin is not flexable, so to create a doll that is more than miniscule in the "male anatomy" department (not to be overly graphic, but im a man, i know what that area looks like and i feel extremely sorry for all the "male" dolls ive seen nude) so i decided to make the hips changable rather than make him shrimpy.

Im glad you enjoyed my core tutorial,..I do drill all the other parts, arms, legs, upper part of the body ect.. making long thin cores is impossibe so i use a special (huge) drill press to drill out all the long bodyparts, most drill presses will only drill to a 3" or 4" inch depth mine has a 6" pull/depth,.. you'd be surprised how few drill presses can do that.

yes i know, i promised myself id never do this but, ive been making dolls for over 2 years now and im starting to get tired of some of my headsculpts and even of my base doll sculpt, so ive decided to begin to phase out certain sculpts over time and make some of them limited. im working on a completely new body that will eventually replace the current sculpt.... the molds also eventually wear out and are rather time consuming and expensive to remake, so instead of repeating things over and over forever i plan on making some changes. :)

I hope that got all the questions,..sorry for my bad grammar and mispellings,... ill try to sign in more often, you can also feel free to send e-mails througn my website,.. www.bishonenhouse.com

take care everyone and thanks again :)
      Donn

    38. I know this might be way late but I'm totally going to add myself to the mailing list. Your dolls are really, really, really pretty...er handsome. :)

    39. *oh noes*
Please let me get the money for Rosary, before Donn changes the heads!
      :eusa_pray

(Aaaw, please don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to your new works and totaly understand your point, but I'm dying for headsculpt #3)
      :D

    40. Hi Smiling Doll, I just made a new mold from my head 3 master sculpt so dont worry, he'll be around for a while :^) , head 2 and head 4 (my oldest headsculpts) will most likely be the first to go (probably around the late spring/early summer)

Thanks spark0girl,.. Its never too late to sign up on my mailing list :)

      take care,
      Donn

    41. Thank God! Er..Thank Donn!
My nanjo-licious headhunter is safe! :aheartbea

    42. Hi Donn, I just adopted my first Bishonen House boy from another DoA member and he's pretty impressive! I am having trouble figuring out which head sculpt he is though.

Since you've already identified sculpt 3, and sculpt 5 has a pic on your website, could you say which of your finished dolls are heads 2 and 4? (The ones you will discontinue?). Thanks!!

And congrats on the article. I bought a copy of FDQ just to see it...what was really funny was the magazine was shelved so high at B Dalton I had to make some 6 foot guy reach me down a copy. LOL! They must not sell many to us average size lady doll collectors!

    43. i must say.... he is beautifull:aheartbea

    44. woah smexy!
when i'm rich and famous i must get one:P
thanks so much for all the tutorials, they'll be so helpful later when i give dollmaking a go ^^

      shpankyou :)

    45. Hey that's my gorgeous Kanje, my Bishonen House boy! he is headsculpt #3, and now I have a fairy head for him,
thank you Donn for my wonderful Kanje and his new Elf Self!
