Im back from vacation, sorry for the delay in responding everyone

Im hoping to have the first elf head done by the end of Jan, "the first elf head will be a modification of head 3 "

(blushes) thanks for the compliment but honestly I think im really odd looking, if i made a "me" head sculpt i highly doubt it would sell,..

This Christmas i gave one of my dolls to my Mom as a gift, shes always liked my dolls and i thought it was about time to get her in on the "doll cult" haha. The doll i gave her was the "fall doll", this guy int he pic below (since i made him he's been one of her faves) she promptly named him Joshua




And becuase i don't post new pics as often as id like to

Heres a New doll im just finishing up, he will be heading off to Australia sometime next week after i finish his brows and eyelashes.

I use 17mm in all of the dolls i make, 18mm will work but look a little large.
I want to eventually try 16 and 15mm as well and see how they fit.

 

Hey Charon!, im gald to see you on here, I cant wait to see him after you give him his proper hair, jewlery and clothing.
And im excited about having one of my guys in Australia (im hoping to have one on every continent by the next new year)

Yes those are afghan eyes, they are one of my personal favorite colors so i tend to use them allot when i do test pics

Joshua's eyes are a color called Autumn Hazel they matched his shirt perfectly, its hard to tell in the photo but the Autumn Hazel eyes are a combination of green, brown, and a tiny bit of burgandy around the pupil

If enough people commited to buying dolls and wanted one i definitely would

The hips because of the complex shape and size are rather expensive to create a mold from "only second to the upper body"

If not for the above reasons i would have already made on just for the heck of it.

I know we do need to have another meetup, due to my "crazy" schedule ive unfortunately missed the last couple

Good Question, hmmmm I can see horns happening, horns are easy plus i eventually would love to make some sort of demon character. Im working on a OOAK pair of wings for a photo. Im also working on diffrent hands (some of them gloved) although those probably wont be completed untill the spring "hands are extremely time consuming to pull molds from"
I have a few other things im working on and if time allows i intend to have pics posted in the next few months.

I do believe i am allowed to post in the News Section but most of my news i send out in Newsletters through my site. (i really need to send out a new one badly)

Out of all the 1,000s of people on DOA there are only 4 DOA regulars that have purchased dolls from me and they do post. "most of the people that have bought my work to my surprise aren't even Resin BJD collectors" Ive actually sold more through contacts I've made on DeviantArts which is really strange since i made my DA gallery just on a whim.

Being that my dolls are completely made by myself, i do the sculpts, i make the molds, i mix and pour the resins, i sand the parts, i dill the parts, i do the faceups, i string the dolls, i paint and silkscreen my logo onto the boxes, i pack the dolls and i ship the dolls, the only thing i have someone else do are the clothes.

Because I'm so involved in the actual making of my dolls i can only produce about 2-3 a month so they are quite rare, even If i continue to work at full capacity for the next 5 years there will still only be about 180 of my dolls in existence! ( a much smaller number than some "limited editions" )

I still would like to post a full head tutorial, but at the moment I'm completely overwhelmed making dolls for people, completing new heads and updating (at least trying to) my website.

I hope none of the above sounds grumpy, i don't mean it to. I'm very happy that I'm able to make and sell my work! "sometimes a bit overwhelmed" but still happy

Hes about 30.5 inches/ 77.5cm tall. Ive never tried other heads on him so im not really sure :-(

I have and i do intened to do sleeping heads eventually, either head 3 or the upcomming head 5.

Hmmm, i wouldnt reccomend using anything other than silicone to mold polyuretherne resin, there are other types of mold rubbers out there that require mod releases that ive never really experimented with so im not sure if it would work or not.

Ive never thought about it, but it may be something i do consider in the future. thanks for the suggestion :-)

It would make it go faster but ar at the moment i can meet my demand (barely) so for now it will stay just me, If i did hire help the price of the dolls would have to increase to pay my workers.

I just may do a head like that eventually :-) to be honest with ya im getting kinda tired of sculpting dainty noses,..lol

It took me nearly forever to get a skintone i was happy with. For sone reason resin always wants to come out blueshifted. Its hard to get a warm deep skintone.

Yes i do all the faceups for my dolls but my standard dolls come without faceups for people who like to do their own.

thats cool :-) he can wear some of hounds shirts, and they wear the same shoe size. but my dolls thighs and hips are too wide to wear hounds pants. but i do believe hound could probably wear my dolls pants (they might be baggy though)

You and all this "extra part" talk haha, I think working small is better as well, im able to give everything i send out my full attention.

I really wish i could have been at the last 2 meetups, I look forward to the next meetup maybe ill bring Dreux along (hes crazy) haha

Dreux is working on more and varried clothes for my store, hes made quite a few new pieces already but usually those things are sold before they even make it to my site.



1 of these shirts was made custom for somone, then i showed the pic to 2 other people who also wanted the same shirt so 3 have been made and sold and it wasnt even posted in my store.

He is working on a couple diffrent suits that hopefully will make it to light, even if they sell before i post them ill put pics up anyway

It took me forever to get a warm shade, for some reason my crazy resin formulation always wants to "cool shift" the colors i add to it. I finally figured it out a fix though.

I had a few people email me through my site asking if the color goes all the way through. Just so everyone knows, it does. His pigment isnt a coating its actually mixed in his resin and cant be rubbed or chipped off. Ill eventually take one of my test pieces and saw through it and post pics showing it goes evenly all the way through.

haha,.. I keep begging dreux to make a lil doll corset covered in buckles for a photo ive been wanting to make for ages.

We male doll owners also torment out dolls. lol

I know the perfect eyes for him! and his hair!,

For some reason i had a heck of a time getting a nice warm tone to his resin and not going orange, resin always seems to "cool shift" the colors of the pigments (browns usually turn out purplish) so it took me a little while to figure out how to compensate when mixing my colors.

Making molds isnt all that difficult, after seeing the incredible sculpting job you did on Liebchen im sure you could easily make molds yourself,.. My tutorial is a little vague (very vague) in some parts so feel free to email or PM me if you need anything cleared up.

I'll probably be doing a workshop on moldmaking/casting but thats still in the works

Head 5 is completely finished, at the moment im working on getting finished casts and doing faeups on them,.. i should have pics soon though.

Hi Lugi-moo!!! thanks,. Im glad you like him, im reallly hoping to have him completed in another week or so, Its taken me soo long just to get to the point where i can cast darker skintones that actually look good it will be nice to finally have completed results.
