...Just why are you here then? I'd love to be able to have a Xena: Warrior Princess BJD! Of course, she would need a Gabrielle too. Ryu
I'm seconding wanting a muscular MSD girl. I have a dragon age character I'd love to shell. She's a dwarf and I've been trying to figure out what to do cause i currently only own MSD size dolls. But sadly all the muscular female options are SD sized. I was looking at getting a dollmore narsha body since theyre shorter than MSD's but that doesn't solve my muscle problem. But if a muscular female MSD body comes out then maybe I'll suck up the height problem.
Now that I have my muscular girl for a while, I'm finding she wears the hell out of clothes. She looks more like a strong, athletic woman, but she doesn't look unnaturally ripped when the clothes fall right.
She looks like she could knock you out! What a beauty! I think I might have found a body for my Xena, thanks! I still need to find a head though. Ryu
You may want to have a look at 2 new MSDs that have JUST come out- one is a scaled down version of Arwen's Claudette and Argo Doll just came out with an MSD version of her curvy body girl. While not muscular per se, they may be workable either in subtraction mods (carve those muscles out) or blushed to look muscular.
@chalyss @Chameleon Thank you so much! Unfortunately, the mold broke, so the artist sold me an older body.
I just noticed that NobilityDoll are again offering (by the end of January => to 13:00 pm on January 30, 2021 exactly) the muscular female body (normal or white skin), if you want one. The price is much lower than the one I bought it for.
It would be nice if you got one of these wonderful muscular bodies. The only thing that bothers me a little about this body is the shape of her breasts and her flat feet. Otherwise it is very detailed and beautiful. I wish this girl had wider shoulders, but you can't have everything. I wish you luck with your order!. Nora, say hello! Nora - or not by Arengil Tajedinápravá, on Flickr
NobilityDoll shopping mall - Ball jointed doll For those who wish to see. @Arengil, what is her neck size, pls?
Unfortunately, there seems to be bad reviews on NobilityDoll's muscular female body and its original group order though. Maybe check them out before ordering.
I do know there were many posing problems. Most, if not all, needed heavy mods. I don't know if these problems were ever addressed.
@chalyss Cca 9cm, but my is after hard modifications. This neck is really thick from front to back and it does not fit well into a spherical hole of Supia head (pic before mods).
It was a body type from 2012. It had even worse joints than this, which was created around 2018. The old body had single-joints knees, more muscles and smaller breasts. This body works a little better (but not good) and unfortunately, it has less muscles - her arms and shoulders. And her unrealistic breast are really ugly for me.
@Arengil That's a shame! I guess Impldoll's body is the only other one still being sold, then? Unfortunately, it's not a 3-piece torso.
I asked Nobility Doll and they said all that had been changed was the breast shape, no jointing changes. @Valor you want a 3 piece Impl muscle girl? I can ask if they can arrange that, but don't hold your breath waiting. Takes them a few years to get things adjusted these days. I am really struggling with the decision to get this one. Only a few days left. IoS is getting back to their female body, too.
I again really struggle with the IoS body, I need a tan muscular female around the 65cm size range for my oc. But they said to me they will not offer other breast sizes than the huge size, which is a bit of a bummer for me since my character has small bust. Since she is tan, sanding her would also be tricky and definitely lower the value of the doll. I hope they change their mind sometime later.
@chalyss I'm interested, but I'm also really picky about bodies (joint placement/appearance, body sculpt, etc.). I should also wait to have my first 1/3 doll in hand before deciding on another.
*LOL* Congrats, I hope! I am REALLY tempted! I think I might. Oh... I have over 110. Been in the hobby since 2005. I was not so picky to begin with and just got what I could afford. I think your plan is better! But these days there are many more companies and sculpts to choose from, so easier to be picky. I support picky!
@chalyss You seem to enjoy your muscled-female-containing collection though! I think that one of yours inspired me to start looking at the bodies available too.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think anyone in this thread mentioned that Fantasia Doll is back with a new body that has nice abs department. She's not as muscular as the previous body was, but I have ordered her last year and will do comparisons between it and their older body once she arrives.
Let us know how the body poses. I still would love to make my Xena: Warrior Princess and Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman dolls. For me, being able to pose is more important than resin matching. Me too! Ryu
@Ryuichi Sakuma 13 I'd like to meet your future Xena! A muscular female body that can pose (I'm looking at you, wooden Nobility!) well and look natural and attractive at the same time - that's ideal!
You and me both! I'm still hoping for a curvy, muscular girl to be both Xena and Wonder Woman. Of course, I'll end up having to hybrid.... Ryu
Wow, have you guys seen the newly released IOS F65 female body? Not really super muscular but her abs look so naturally toned! Class65F Body Only I still love the Impldoll Azalea for a warrior woman character I have in mind, but darn, I'm tempted to buy just her head and do a hybrid with the IOS female body sculpt
Thanks for putting this up! This has been awaited for a very long time. And not a bad price! I think I need one....
Sweet! I can't wait 'til you get yours! I'm surprised that the IOS Class65F new release has not yet made it to DoA's BJD News. I posted it already just in case. XD XD XD EDIT: I have to admit that my heart sank when I saw that the price of the body is 480 USD (505 USD with heel feet), 200 USD more expensive than the Impldoll muscular star body, the but considering the quality of IOS and owning one of their 70 cm bodies, I'd saw it may be worth the price.
Hi! Hellllloooooo! Welcome to my soap box! My pet project! My reason for wanting to learn how to make my own BJDs! I've been subbing IG accounts for power lifters, cross fitters, and - I guess they're IG fitness celebrities? So while the dolls pictured in this thread (and in the newer thread of currently available options) are lovely, I'm looking bigger. One thing I'm mulling over is when I watch back workouts - how their shoulder blades "pop" when they lift. Maybe this belongs in the craft section, but I'm trying to figure out how to create a shoulder joint (like PashaPasha, but much bigger) so that when you pull the doll's elbows back, her shoulder blades will also "pop." The other things I am struggling with are creating knee and elbow joints that look more like power lifter joints, and how much definition should I be putting into the sculpt. Realism or stylized? How much hamstring definition is too much? (flexed? relaxed? somewhere in between?) How do I make the bottom "pop" when she bends over? So... If anyone is still here and wants to chime in - I'm all ears. And if this is the wrong place for this post, I'll move it. I'm still new! (please don't hurt me)
I was a bit disappointed by the IOS when they released full pictures, they did make a small bust, but the body is again not muscular and defined enough for what I'd like. Well, more waiting, then. Aand I totally forgot to post here the side by side comparison of old and new Fantasia Muscle bodies. Well here it is. Left is old Fantasia, middle is the new Venus (63 cm) muscle body. Right is an Iple nSID just for comparison because I used to find her super skinny. Got to say that again I was a bit disappointed, the Venus body looks like she's been doing her sit ups definitely, but not much else. She's definitely a hourglass body though, her bust and hips are roughly the same girth. I do prefer the old one when they're naked, but it is nice to have something that can actually wear a wide range of clothes (for the old Fantasia, I've mostly been sewing myself.)
What people want seems to be highly personal. When I gave Impl their model for the muscle girl they came out with (my model was not quite as hippy), people were unhappy- she was not realistic, though they very closely based her on a real body builder, Andreia Brazier. She has an unusually curvy but muscular body I thought would satisfy a lot of different desires. But that was optimistic of me- so I say to you, if you are designing your own body, make the one you will be happy with, the one you want. Others who find value in it will fall in line, but expect dissension. You can't please everyone all the time, so in this case, go with what makes you happy and what you want to see. "Popping" things may be possible... but it will be very expensive too. You'll need to come up with the engineering on that one yourself. Look at Impldoll's MGB body with the jointed shoulders. I do have an old Villains 12" doll engineered with what you're suggesting and you can try to be inspired off that body, but it is not resin. Also figure out if it's really an important feature for you- will you be taking majority of pictures with your doll in such positions? I have used an Impldoll male 3rd gen body for a thick girl because that one has some hips to it and a butt, a more feminine shape. It's big! But it can work if you have a head big enough. I have 2 Fantasia doll bodies with small chest and muscular body. I will never sell them. *LOL* They really are gorgeous. I am lucky that one of mine wears very little and the other fit men's clothes. (and a few pieces I did have to make by hand- which I reallllllly suck at): Sorry that pic is so bad. And both have male heads. Then, the Impldoll male with the female MnM head: https://flic.kr/p/2hrNmee vs the same head on the female muscle body: Rosie the Riveter
@chalyss Am I that unique in my love for the Impl body just as is? Aside from Kitten not being able to slouch forward (and why would she, she's too cool) I love the shape of her and she wears the heck out of her clothes. I kinda want more skimpy things for her to show off her abs.
*LOL* OH I don't think so! I have 3 or 4 muscle Starwomen and/or Idols with more on the way. I just like variety, too. My avatar is a muscle Starwoman body. She wears corsets like a boss! To fix the slouch thing (IF she would slouch, that is), stringing a certain way will give her more mobility. Look a few lines down to see the new mobility. Chalyss Raechal Storm
Your pic is gorgeous, as are your dolls. I went through your Flickr photos - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to upload the same photo twice to get it to show up. And all of your pictures of Iplehouse Aaliyah are just making me want to drop the cash for one even more. DoA is so bad for my budget.
I just had that problem again today- 5 different times and ways! I don't get it. And thank you for your kind words! I wish I had the skills to do them justice. *LOL* Aaliyah sells herself! And on a HiD body, with it's super toned angles... yes, you need one!
One of the bodies I have been eyeing from Fantasia Doll: https://www.uidoll.com/us-lumiere-boy-body-m-type-1 (NOTE: Contrary to the link name, it is actually a female body that is a bit muscular.) I wish they have an option for a smaller bust size though.
@Darkness Fatale The body looks nice, but I cannot recommend ordering it at the moment. There is a thread about Fantasia Doll in the "large dolls" section, and if you read the latest couple pages, you'll see that the company was delivering these bodies at first, but then they stopped delivering, took the money and never shipped the item. There are people who have not received a response from the company or the doll for what will soon become a year. The company has not responded any mails since 2021 spring as far as I know, including refund requests. These new bodies also have a questionable quality, sadly, that should be known if you plan on searching for one 2nd hand. I had this body and I ended up giving it up. The resin had odd shiny spots that would not come off, and the resin was very soft, like the neck hook left significant nicks on the doll within just a month. She also had very thin spots like her ankles. The arms on my doll did not bend at all unless sueded, the joints are too slippery. You need to pull on the 2nd elbow joint to engage it which is hard to impossible when the doll is dressed. Ajestinsoberearnest on Instagram said they boiled their body for dyeing and it never fully regained its firmness after that. A friend of mine had the head from my full doll, and she wiped it with isopropyl alcohol and the head became permanently shiny as if something had dissolved from the resin surface.
Seeing your comparison pic some posts above, @vauhtikatti , the old Fantasia body is much more natural and aesthetically pleasing than the Venus model, but I was almost convinced to search for either on the secondary market... almost.
New Venus body: DS Doll head on Fantasia bodies Old muscular body: Shaaza has a new body Shaaza has a new body Shaaza has a new body The size difference is huge. The new one is slender, 3/4ths the size of the old one, which was hefty, wider, and heavier. The old one is superior, but finding one on the 2nd hand market is almost impossible. I didn't have the same quality issues with the new bodies as Vauhtikatti did and I still have my new version, but the old one is where it's at, for sure.
New fantasia looks a bit like the soom new supergem but with abs... At least, she looks like she'd fit the same clothes. I have to agree though, that I'm way more into the old one. Also, has anyone tried out that IoS body, or seen the one from Prime Frame? I was close to grabbing the PF one, but I didn't love it $500 worth, like I'd have had to to grab it
@Chameleon You're right! She is very similar to the new Supergem with better abs. I should do a comp between those two bodies. I actually like the new Fantasia body for a smaller head, I find it very elegant. I can get some lovely poses. I had to look up Prime Frame, rather glad I did, thanks for that! I do like their female's chest and abs, but the stick like legs really throw off the aesthetic for me. If I could fit meatier legs in there, I might try a hybrid. As it is, I'd just as soon sand in some abs or paint in ones with a meatier form. But they ARE nice abs! I saw the IoS one too, and while it's nice and I'd like to try it for kicks, it didn't strike me as muscular, per se. I honestly like the width of the 65cm double jointed Supia body. She seems to be thick/sturdy, which I like.
it’s not that it didn’t regain its firmness but that it became so soft I was concerned that the weight of each part was heavy enough it would cool permanently deformed from its own weight so I had to cool the parts positioned in ways so that didn’t happen The dolls softness when cooled is exactly the same as its softness pre-boil: harder than it is when hot (it deforms significantly more when heated than any other doll of comparable resin thickness—the only dolls I’ve had remotely this issue with were PygmalionDoll heads which are made with much thinner resin) but much softer than most resin dolls. The resin is soft enough when cool that the force of the elastic on the inner passage of the hip ripped a hole in the resin. I’ve never had this problem with another doll to this degree (did have one batch of AngelsDoll 75cm knees crack on me from elastic tension)
