Muscular female dolls- who wants one?

Jul 27, 2015

    1. No muscles for me. I barely like muscles(too buff) on guys.

    2. Yes! I'm definitely at no.1 in response to muscular girls; the attribute I look for most in a doll is androgyny.

    3. I'd definitely welcome more muscular female sculpts! It's always nice to have variety and I think there should be more representation in the bjd community!

    4. Understood and completely valid! Do you think others should have the option though, if they want muscular girls or just no, period? (I am genuinely interested, you will not be bashed for your beliefs/feelings on the matter.)

    5. I have no girl doll, because I do not see any really skinny or muscular girls. All of them have too wide hips in my taste. Even if they have small bust, the hips are too big. Looks easier to mod male body than have really skinny or muscular girl!

    6. I think all body types should be represented in the community so I would definitely like to see muscular female bodies

    7. I love the idea of a muscular girl body, and Immortality of Soul is working on a gorgeous one right now.

    8. I NEED IT NOW!

      *ahem*

I have a muscular tan warrior lady character and trust me I had that trainwreck nobility body it was not worth the elastic it was strung on.

Also IOS doll has had that picture up for like over a year so I don't think they are progressing on it especially giving the popularity in their male sculpts.

    9. But we can hope... it wouldn't make sense for them to just throw her out, even if she probably won't be as popular - and if they take forever to work on her again then maybe she'll be done by the time my wallet is fuller! orz

    10. My original answer to this was no, not because I don't think one should be available, but I just didn't want one. I believe in all body types and wish they were around for both men and women in BJD-land.

My new answer is yes...I do want a muscly girl. But only if she's 1/4 scale and about 43cm. With chest options so I can get large.

    11. I really want this option. I have only a few female characters and some of them which are my favorites are fairly muscular. They have more of a swimmers or a runner's body. They're pretty athletic since they're warriors so this is a definite need for my female characters.

    12. It sounds like we definitely need SD and MSD sized options! Good to let the companies know- I think both sizes need to be represented.

    13. I think there should be more diversity with doll bodies, so yes I would love to see a muscular female doll. :)

    14. I'm @ 4 my i love how girly and delicate my girls look but i think there should be the more options availabe but i bet male bodies could be moded and blushed to create a more"athletic" girl body

    15. So my original answer was 3-4, but I've since "found" a character who would be wonderful to shell in a muscular, athletic female body... so if there's an MSD option, call me strong 2, possibly even a 1, now! :D I already have some diversity going on in my doll bodies in general, but even with that, the girls are all still very feminine and "girly," so bring on the tough ladies!

    16. #3. I don't have any current plans for a muscular girl, but I'd love to see the option available. I wonder if everyone is thinking something different with the word "muscular" though... gymnast, fitness competitor, hardcore bodybuilder?

    17. Probably. We use one word as 'muscular' for boys and we have many interpretations from Miro to Granado's Nico. I think we'd get the same for the females... depends on the what the artist/sculptor wants to do. I'll take any and all!! The more variations the merrier!

    18. Yes I really need this! I am so desperate I even have considered buying that silly Nobilitydoll body from the MP, but she probably wouldn't have gotten played with or photographed much, being nigh-unposable ;A;

One of the Classydoll bodies had somewhat defined abs and some thigh musculature, but otherwise the pickings are slim.

    19. I have one and they're nicely toned if you want an aerobic-instructor body, but doesn't fit 'muscular' for me. Hear us companies? We would very much desire a woman with muscle, not just well-toned. Thank you!

    20. Good point, there's no need to limit ourselves to only one kind of muscular girl. :)

      • x 1
    21. Yes! I have plans for a doll like that in the future. I have had the character for a while but can't find a nice muscular body for her :/.

    22. 2. Yes, I have future plans for a girl like that.

    23. 4! Ive never had any plans for one, but it should definitely be available.

    24. This is a really great point! If a company created a range of differently-shaped muscular female dolls then for me that would definitely be a SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY situation :D

    25. I'll take option number 1, Alex! Lol that was a bad joke :P But yeah, I'm totally obsessed with the idea of girl dolls that don't fit the mold per say (haha bjd puns), so like very tall girl dolls or very boyish girls or very muscular girls! I really really REALLY want a Leel Selena because THOSE BACK MUSCLES THO and also she is 80cm+ so she would be perfect for my circus theme collection I want to have one day ;) So yes, muscular girls are a must. That being said I really don't like muscles on boy dolls, all of my dolls are like young adults or teenagers and having defined muscles like that would be weird imo. 80cm girl giants are another story though ;)

    26. Wonder Woman!

    27. 1 - Yes! I would love to buy a strong, tall female doll. Many of my novel characters are variations of this build, and it would be such a relief from the usual. I say, yes please! I would be extremely tempted to buy, should they come out with one. :D
I'm talking athletic and broader-shouldered, with a small/medium chest. Not necessarily with abs showing, but that general strong, athletic Olympian look. C:

    28. i would absolutely love to see some muscular female dolls

    29. I have no need for one currently, but maybe someday I'd want one, so my answer is:

      3. Not right now, but maybe some day.

      Ya never know, ne? :chomp:

    30. Wow, a muscular female body would be really welcome! It's so sad that Nobility doll's one was such disappointment... and still, even if we wanted to get it despite it's horrrible engineering, the casting molds are already broken... oh well.
So definitely 1. Yes, I want one. I need her now. Gimme. Please and thank you.

    31. I would love one! I would love to see more diversity in these dolls in general. Give me all the body types and races under the sun!

    32. 4 for me. I'm happy with what's available, but it never hurts to have more options!

    33. 4. Not personally, but I think the option should be available to all.

Aesthetically, I like my dolls like my people, fit but not all bulky. I think it would be really neat to see a buff woman doll though. There's plenty real women in the world for there to be dolls like that too, but there just isn't any is there? I don't think that I would ever own one but I would love spend some time with such dolls. I mean, think of all the art possibilities.

    34. 3- I don't need one this minute, but it would be nice to have the option. I spent much of my young adulthood lifting weights. I love the look of female bodybuilders. They look so powerful, strong. and beautiful.

    35. Well, it looks like Nobility Dolls didn't break the Muscle Female Body casting molds!
They announced a pre-order on bjdcollectasy!

    36. wow! Re-engineered? I'll have to look. Mirodoll is also preparing a muscular female body, so expect that out sometime next year if all goes well. Woot! CHOICES!

    37. Waaaah!! It's sold out! How does that work? Dang it!!

    38. Contact them and ask. They can be a little weird to order from.

    39. Not sure it has been re-engineered. There is no details about this muscular body either (neck size, feet size, etc. ?), and no pictures of work done on the joints.

    40. I've seen the first run sell on the MP for $100 WITH a ton of mods to make it actually work- people just got sick of them, they were designed (joint-wise) so poorly. It LOOKS pretty but I am very wary, especially for that price.

I know the Miro dolls will have re-engineered joints at least.

    41. @chalyss , thanks for pointing the price out! Weirdly, I hadn't noticed it. It is indeed slightly cheaper than a Basic Fairyland Minifee. :aeyepop:
It is a pity, if only they put the work in and offered this body with better joints (+ better looking hands/wrists + Measurements table), they would be onto a winner.

EDIT: I've just found Rosslyn's project journal 'Warrior maiden- Journey of a Nobility 60cm Muscle Body'. I am rather dismayed by the work involved in making this Muscular body work. :ablink: And a lot of knowledge is required. :doh. It looks like the whole body needs to be rethought with posability in mind, not only the joints.

    42. Yes! I have heard and read horror stories! Nobility Doll, it seems, didn't apply their knowledge to the design. People spent small fortunes getting their dolls corrected and then sold them for a pittance. It's so sad because the design/concept is lovely indeed! I love the muscles! But I am very scared to buy one that hasn't already been corrected. I'm not even close to as good at modding as Rosslyn is, so that is a very daunting task to me! I prefer a body mostly ready to go, needing only minor mods if any at all.

    43. The Nobility body doesn't look re-engineered to me either. :( Maybe I'll wait for the Miro body. It's good to know the companies are listening, though.

    44. Yeah, I don't remember which announcement it was stated in but I thought they were going to fix those godawful joints before rerelease @-@ I would love this body for a head of mine that's floating right now but, personally, it's up to Nobility to convince us they fixed the thing before they see a cent.

    45. #3 - I love the look of a powerful and muscular woman! If I found a sculpt that spoke to me, then yes I would most certainly buy her, I just haven't seen many options for muscular female dolls.

    46. 4- I don't personally like muscular bodies on a girl, however people should be able to have what they want, so the option should be available.

    47. I'd give an arm and a leg for a muscular girl. I'd like her to have a stronger face too though, so I'd probably have to hybrid her with a boy head. :sweat

    48. Hm, I would definitely consider it! I mostly go for boys but maybe a muscular girl would change my mind? She'd have to be at least SD sized though and with a mature head (maybe something like Soom Dia). It would be super weird for me if it was like a mature and muscular body with a little girl head on it.

    49. Thing is, the original muck-up appeared as if it would work, in the company pics... I don't trust Nobility. They sent me a mess, refused to partly refund a very un-functioning doll, and then claimed that it was okay for it to be mucked up because it was a custom job. Just nope.

    50. I dont know if I'd buy one myself - not so much due to personal reference but personal funds/space, but I'd love to see one, and to see what people would do with the sculpt of one.

    51. I think it would be great if companies expanded on different body types for their dolls. A more muscular girl would be great and probably challenged some sculptors. I plan on making a girl who would be more muscular than the average girl, but I'm going to try to use an OT doll line like Obitsu.

    52. 1 - YES! Please! Gimme a muscular lady. In the last few months I've taken quite a liking to physicaly strong female characters. I even have a planned female bjd character that would be like that but since there is no fitting body, I have to stick to her child form. :atremblin

    53. I absolutely want one. I eventually wish to get a male/female SD pair, but the female character really needs some sort of muscle. I understand if companies don't want to make a super buff body, but even some slight definition in the arms and chest would be nice. Optional parts maybe? That way the company would only have to mod and cast a few parts, yet it can completely change the look of a body. (Has anybody suggested that yet?) Some heads with a more chiseled look would be great too. There are so many "feminine" boys out there, let's have some more "masculine" girls.

    54. I would love swappable legs- like longer ones and shorter ones, a range of 60cm-68cm (and bust options, of course). That'd be nice. Keep giving your opinions! This thread IS getting notice. YAY!!

    55. I would like to get 1-2 she-warriors. And i am keen on Nobility bodies

    56. Probably a 3 for me based on that scale, though it depends on level of musculature; I'm definitely a fan of toned and athletic (the original 57cm Limhwa body comes close enough for me -- those legs!) but anything more is unattractive imo, irregardless of gender.

    57. Please, seriously we need one. Desperately. We've got so many male options-- skinny, soft, toned, beefcake, it's insane. But when you look at female bodies, it's always hourglass and barely any definition at all. We need not just toned girls, but girls with defined muscles and thick, strong bodies. Half my female characters are soldiers or fighters and delicate bodies just don't cut it. They also always have slender hands and it's just so infuriating. Don't get me wrong, I love slender pretty girls. But I'd love to have a girl with a feminine version of something like Spiritdoll's Herculean body or Dollshe David Kuncci's body.
Girls built like tanks. We just need more variety when it comes to female dolls.
Not to mention we also need more gender ambiguous bodies-- but that's a different conversation.

    58. I have a character named Beshemoth from my days on City of Heroes- basically a She-Hulk rip off, I'll be honest- she was supposed to be... and I wanna shell her something fierce but there are no bodies to work for her. A tank, yes! And my girl Power Curve... Six and half feet of sexy TANK. Yes yes yes, I need big beautiful women! Uh, for my dolls.

    59. 3. Not right now, but maybe some day.
Lately I have been fantasizing about a girl which is on various universes (like she reincarnates on the same person of different universes each day) and one day she is a jedi, next a bounty hunter, then a pirate, maybe an assassin... so she should have a muscular body if I ever find the perfect head sculpt for her.
Sadly I feel this kind of body will only be available in SD size so I am not likely to get one.

    60. I personally don't have any plans for this kind of body but I'd love to see what others would do with it.
