    1. I don't know how far you are in your doll now but I don't see any BONES in the hip areas at the front. The tummy/ab part is nice, but where are the hip bones? The entire area looks a bit too concave and boneless~

      The shoulder joint also looks too small as the shoulder joint. They're normally made much bigger I think.

      Are you going to sculpt some... furry-ness onto the fawn legs like SOOM does?

    2. Not all christians agree with this, so what I'm going to say is how some people rationalize when it comes to the devil and goatish features.

      People who don't believe in god have often been called heathens. This has to do with the fact that heath is a word meaning a place overgrown with short shrubs and coarse herbage. Heathens were from the beginning simply those who didn't live in the cities. These people were also the last people to give up on their native believes and so the church used the word heathen in a way that meant their believes rather than where they lived.
      So the church had taken a name with nothing bad in it and turned in to a name for bad people who didn't believe.
      Now some of the heathens worhsipped a god named Pan. Pan is from greek mythology and is the god of nature, he also happens to have *drumroll* goat hooves. Now here comes the tricky part: christians couldn't say that the heathens' god was an evil god, because there's no god beside the lord. But the christians do have an evil power: Satan. So it is thought that in an attempt to make the pagan god out to be evil the preists added in his charecteristics to the descrpition of Satan.
      So again the church took something good or neutral and described it as evil.

      As said before: this is how some people view the goat hooves thing, and ofcourse everybody have the right to make their own ideas of how things are connected.

      ETA: Your boy is looking great, how tall is he turning out?

    3. Wow.... @.@ I am in awe of what you're done! I can't wait to see how it turns out!

      My only comment at the moment is possibly the lips, they could maybe use a bit more definitive shape but that my be just my personal preference. :sweat

    4. obesekittens o_O the bones in his hips vanished! i like bony hips too so don't worry i'll find them ^^;
      the shoulders look small becouse i didn't finish the joint yet (i agree it does look too small, but it gets bigger when you add the hole) + i don't like very wide shareholders on dolls, it makes putting on shirts a pain x.X
      :) already did (not in any photos yet >_<)

      he will be approximately 41 cm (not very big at all :?)

      But before I go in to the photos (questions from the previous post #56) :

      i want to make optional bird wings like this doll i did (see posts 26 and 44 http://www.denofangels.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=230409)

      so you can choose between a Satyr or a bird... thing (i'm making human legs as well for anybody who is wondering...)

      is that worth investing in or am i just deluded?

      i really want to make a pair of optional flute playing hands

      i like the way this project is going but there is still so much i need to fix that just doesn't work :o

      is there anything you would suggest i should do?

      + if i fix it up would anybody be genuinely interested in getting one? why and why not...

      god I thought a Satyr was cool enough but now a choice! du-hast you never cease to amaze me when it comes to things you want to do! I say if you wanna do the option hands and wigs, go for it! Varitey is good especially in the BJD world, gives more options and things to play around with.

    16. Sorry for the long wait!

      I haven&#8217;t abandoned this project; in fact I work on it almost every day

      There isn&#8217;t that much progress ^^; but oh well&#8230;.

      Full body shot:

      i can't stop the happy head from looking stoned :doh

      I figured out that I will have to make my own hooks, I bought one roll of hevy wier for the head s hooks (still need to get slightly thinner one for limbs ) I still need practice bending them/making them look presentable ;_;

      I just realized, who ever I told he was 41 cm, I lied he&#8217;s actually 43

      PLAN OF ACTION:

      1) add more muscle definition over all on the body +add details
      2) hunt down 6 and 8 mm eyes
      3) bake it (of course captain obvious <_<)
      4) string it see what works what doesn&#8217;t
      5) do mock face ups, it does a great deal to tell how symmetrical , or not, the face is
      6) paint and sand it until it&#8217;s perfect
      7) well see what happens then


      Over all I&#8217;m happy with this but then I see other peoples sculpts and I realize what a way I still have to go >:U <-- my face of determination

    20. I think he looks a bit too )( as you so eloquently put it, because his chest section is a bit thick. You could thin it down a bit to make him less curvy.

      Have any of these pieces been baked yet? It may be a bit late to say this, but I think the space between the nose and the lips is a bit too long. It makes his nose seem really long. But don't feel you have to change it cause I said that. It just may be my own aesthetic preferences.

      And now for the silly question: Is "he" going to stay physically androgenous, or are you gonna give him boy bits? >////<

      and after i fixed the legs the hooves looked rather unfinished, so i will most likely be redoing those as well...*_*

    26. I think you should thin the hips so he's not too )(. Men are supposed be tringle shaped \/ from the shoulder to the hips. If you thin the shoulders he may look girly, unless that's what you're going for.

      I think its the eyebrows that make the faces all look kinda the same, or like the expressions are all similar.

      I still think he's beautiful, though!

    28. He looks really awesome. :3 I love the way his body looks, it flows together very nicely. I like his head too, the facial features have that other worldly quality I'd expect in a satyr or fawn. :3

      As for him looking like the devil... no. His face looks gentle to me. I'm a christian and I don't think he looks anything like the devil. I guess he would if you made him red, gave him a pitch fork and goatee? I dunno.

      I think the reason we associate that image with the devil is that satyrs and fawns were worshiped by pagans. They were probably villianized by early christian missionaries to try and convert the pagans. It's just a symbol and means whatever you interpret it to mean.

      If your mother is bothered by him, tell her he's a fawn. Mr. Tumnus in Narnia is a fawn. :3


      If you want to make any edits to the body, you could do it in photoshop first to decide what parts you want to broaden or shrink? I did that and it helped a LOT. x_x;;

      I'm very envious of the way you do hands, and I have no critique at all because I'm pretty useless. I can say, however, that if you choose to leave him androgynous it would fit him, if that makes sense. With those wide hips it would almost seem out of place if he had boy bits XD
      But yeah, I can't wait to see the final product! He's lovely lovely <3

      any who, this project got put of by things starting from school to unexplainable nausea caused by the mere smell of the sculpy, but i got better and am back on track....

      i'm sorry for the mess in the background, but i am the type of person who can only work in chaos, or more like cant get rid of it O_O!

      also he is missing his head cap in all of the photos

      first test stringing, the shot is crap but you get the idea :B (he has a sword through his head! actually it's a sculpting tool becouse the stringing was too loose)

      and if anyone is wondering, yes he does have horns (ram and deer antlers) but it slipped my mind to take picture of them ^^;;;;

    40. Let me tell you, you've done WAY more than good!!! I dunno, this sculpt is really something! For me though, I usually don't like animal/human/anthro sculpts but seeing your work and work like it by people on DoA is really changing my mind about them!

      Sorry if this has been asked before but, are you planning on casting/selling him? I would TOTALLY be in, if you are.

    48. Ohhh...-grabby hands- I want those legs. The sculpt is very pretty, and I love the range of motion, it has a lot more than soom sard(which is what I have)

      If you ever put the legs up for sale, or if they even fit normal MSD/MNF...do tell, do tell.

    49. wow looks great, I am wondering though, if the hooves might be a little small..is he able to stand well and balanced? I think that is why Sard and Beryl's hooves are so big to help them stand and balance..

      Catdancer he can balance when he crouches :B with enough work i can make him stand fine i'm sure
