African Night Flight - David Bowie (yet again, sorry guys one day I'll branch out again... Contemplating doing a bit of a like for like Scott Walker to David Bowie album comparison considering how much they supposedly influenced each other over the years) My description of the song is basically: Proto-Rap + Bowie&Eno collaborating at their most confrontational. The Lodger sessions were the infamous ones with 1) the worst recording studio the record company could dredge up, given that the shortsighted execs in the US couldn't see beyond the local sales figures, and 2) Eno writing out his 'favourite' chords on a blackboard, and pointing at them when he wanted the musicians to play them... Unfortunately I can't seem to find this one online to link to here, but please do look it up - it's fascinating. Edit, found someone kindly playing their LP (Ironically the sound quality on that video is far nicer than the digital copy I've got... Typical of digital Bowie sadly - the LPs are still the best format!)
This remake of Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out For A Hero is really different. Love this woman's voice. Fun!
I never contributed to this thread because I mostly listen to classical music but I heard a song in the New Zealand show "800 Words" that I've been listening to quite a bit, "Fault Lines" by Avalanche City.
According to Spotify, This Love by Maroon 5. Usually it would be something form one of my co-workers' playlists, though, I am rarely in control of the radio on our work trips. I've picked up a good many songs from them.
I've been in a new wave mood, so unfortunately my cats have to suffer through my butchering of More by Sisters of Mercy
Night Club - "Show It 2 Me" This was more for the 360 experience but the song was actually really good!!
Felt - Primitive Painters has been on repeat here all evening. If you like jangly indie angst music from the 80's give it a go. It features beautiful backing vocals by Elizabeth Fraser, from Cocteau Twins.
"Holding Out for a Hero," above, made me think of Shrek...which made me think of the sad, soothing, a cappela Pentatonix version of "Hallelujah"...so I listened to it.
Been obsessed with this song by Thom Yorke after watching the Suspiria remake last night. I've been playing it ever since and trying to learn it on the piano. It's so haunting.
I watched the latest season of Black Mirror, and that Ashley O song is stuck on my mind all the time lol Im ashamed to admit that I got it off itunes as corny as it is
Johnny Flynn's "Barnacled Warship," "The Water," and "The Wrote and the Writ" have been on replay for a while. I just discovered his music, and his style reminds me of my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs. My general habit when I discover a song I love is to listen to it until I can sing it (more or less accurately) myself!
Gloryhammer by Gloryhammer. I have been binging the band for almost a year now since being told of them. They are amazing and made me realize I love power metal.
In a bid to stay awake (and a fit of nostalgia for my twenties) I listened to a playlist of mostly Little Angels songs at work yesterday, star ting with Too Much Too Young and working through many others, with a few Extreme numbers such as Get The Funk Out thrown in for a bit of variety Teddy
I’m working on a playlist for Moriah (one mess of a vampire) so the last song I had on was 11:11 by In This Moment. Immediately after that (just to give myself some whiplash) I put on Like Real People Do by Hozier, cause it was stuck in my head earlier.
I recently watched Into the Spider Verse and am now obsessed with Sunflower, but this remix is my favorite(and the last I listened too) currently. It's a mash of Bad Lair, Sunflower, and Happier
Got my iTunes playlist up and running while I'm waiting for my Monday radio livestream, and Darren Hayes' Darkness is what is currently playing while I type. I've been a Savage Garden/Darren Hayes fan since I was a teen, and a lot of his solo work really strikes a cord with me. Especially when I'm having a down time. His stuff speaks to me.
My favorite singer is David Bowie and the last song I listened to is his song “I Can’t Give Everything Away”. My favorite song is “Genesis” by Grimes and I listen to that song every day. I love it so much!!
I have a playlist I recently put together that I've been playing into the ground on my hour commute. This time around I stopped at Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales by Car Seat Headrest.
The last song I listened to (and the latest video I watched) is Disturbed's "The Sound of Silence." Just watch it. It's profound.
I love that song! So different from their normal repertoire but he has such an incredible voice, and it’s so emotive in this song!
I’ve been listening to Rasputina almost all day I’ve fallen in love (again!) with their song “Humankind as The Sailor”. Other than that this morning I was listening to Daniel Johnston’s “Casper” (from the soundtrack of Larry Clark’s “Kids”) and I just learned that Daniel Johnston passed today... so a little sad Other than that I listened to my usual Grimes and David Bowie in between other songs
I just finished listening to Queen of Peace by Florence and the Machine Before tbat it was Bottom of the River by Delta Ray.
I have had "Super Clap" by Super Junior in my head for the past week. I keep expecting my brain to get tired of it at some point, but nooooooope. Everything else off the new album is pretty great too.
I been kind of obssesed with the remix of this song for the past week. I don't know what it is about it but it just inspires me. Thank you Spotify for giving me new songs each Monday, I have discovered awesome things lately.
Under the Iron Sky by Laibach. My new favorite song. Its epic and reminds me of something that should be in an Anime .
Work Song by Hozier "In the low lamp light I was Free, heaven and Hell were words to me" is a favourite quote for one of my characters!
Saw Def Leppard in concert twice last year, they blew me away! I recently listened to “Love and Affection” by Def Leppard:
