Mori9 Dolls

I tried my normal skin Lyra on the Dollits DAD normal skin body. I didn't take pictures, but the match was quite close.

However, please keep in mind that colors may vary between Mori's releases!

 

Mori appears to have a collab body with UniverseDoll in the works that’s a lot slimmer than most 75cm bodies. Dollzone is also working on a slim 75. I think a lot of makers have realized that people want slimmer 75cm bodies so there’s quite a few in progress/planned.
Mori’s heads also run on the smaller side for heads meant for 75cm, so you can sometimes get away with them on 70-73ish cm bodies.

Thank you! I think the Mori body is available on LegendDoll already, at least the torso looks almost identical to the one Mori posted to their feed. My problem is even the less muscular bodies all still have the same massive neck circumference which is what really bothers me most.

In a perfect world, I'd find something like the Vings 68V2 but in a 75cm size, only because it seems easier to find 75cm clothes.

 

Congrats!! I'm in the same boat as you and got all three! I'm thinking of having them all share the same body and kind of create a jekyll and hyde type of character with multiple personalities and different looks xD

I got them all in normal skin, I'm also not sure what matches their skin tones best... I've been eyeing a Luts body but have heard mixed feedback on their poseability...

 

I'm a terrible lurker in general, lol, so popping in to also say I got selected~ I chose Caroli (though I also really like Chara!) And can't wait until he ships! It's gonna feel like a crazy long wait, hehe!

 

I'm a little surprised Caroli seems to have been more popular than Chara when it feels like everyone is big on the stoic/broody boys look.

Admittedly, I liked the prototypes for both boys more than the final but still love Caroli's finished look. If Chara had retained his prototype jawline I'd have had a hard time not entering for both.

I never get lucky with these things so at first I assumed there was enough to go around but after reading the artist's weibo I see many Chinese applicants didn't get selected. I now have an even greater appreciation for my win

 

I think it's the season of smiley boys! But in all seriousness, I had a harrrd time choosing. But I was really taken by Caroli during the prototype phase, so inevitably went with him!

I'm also surprised I got picked! I fully thought I hadn't been, then p00f, there was that email right before I went to sleep!

I don't like the knees or elbows, but pickings are slim so I'm going to think about this one for a while. I've yet to find out what resin colors Dollzone is even close to, otherwise I think I'd just commit to waiting for their body.
EDIT: the listing for the USdoll body confirms that it's a color match for Lyra in Swan White and NS (in addition to Chara and Caroli)

Oh, I agree so much. The Vings 68 body has such a nice shape to it. And it does seem easier to find 75cm clothes, which is why I'm waiting of for the right slim 75 to come along for my Lyra T_T

 

Those were pretty much my thoughts exactly. I saw the elbows and was so sad

I did a lot of window shopping and there seems to be a decent amount of 68cm clothes, mostly it's a matter of catching the pre-orders while that tiny window is open. The "leftovers" are all ID75s.

The Vings 68cmV2 is out of stock right now but it looks like they offer resin color matching. I also really like the 68cm 2 joint torso body from Doll Family H who also does color matching so that might be how I'll go.

I wonder if anyone who has a Mori9 head could pop it on a body with a 10.3 or 10.5 cm neck so I could see how it looks (any gender body).

 

I think the Vings 68 will be too small. I tried my Lyra on the FantasiaDoll 72 body (10.6 cm neck) and there was a fair amount of gapping at the neck. I also don't think I would go shorter than 72cm for a head of this size. The shoulders (18.5) were also just barely wide enough to look natural.
I just held my Lyra up to my Vings68 2.0 body as well and it's pretty comically oversized. I don't have other Mori9 75cm heads, but I believe they're similar in size to Lyra.

When it comes to buying bodies I always have to compromise and choose two from "well engineered", "resin matches", "has a nice overall aesthetic", and "I don't hate the elbows/knees", and I always pick the first three over the last one T_T. I'm gonna look into the USdoll body's posing/USDoll's engineering in general and see if it's worth it for the ugly knee and elbow peanuts lol. The lure of an easy color match is really calling to me here.

I think the upcoming Dollzone slim 75 has an aesthetic close to what you and I are looking for, but I get the feeling that their resin colors won't match at all. I've yet to do a deep dive on color matching though so hopefully I'm wrong!

You'd likely have to do some digging for it on Chinese 2nd hand shopping sites like Xianyu, but have you considered the first version of Naiko's Prometheus body? It's a LOT different than the V2.

 

Yes, I'm afraid of that. I just really hate, for lack of a better word, how girthy the necks look on all the 75cm bodies. It's such a peeve of mine when I can see the rounded top of the neck while the head is in a neutral position, to me that signals the head is sitting too high.

I'm guessing I will also have to sacrifice on options. Then, if a fabled perfect 75cm shows up in the future, whatever body I get now can go to a less favored son

 

@Lauryn I can try my Lyra on a Loongsoul 73cm (10.3cm neck according to AC) if it would help

 

FWIW you can just sand it down to where you're satisfied with it. I've had to do neck mods to get heads to fit, it's just a bit of extra effort.
I've never seen a perfect doll body tho, I even had to sacrifice a lot for that Vings 68 XD (I had to sand the neck down and it has the world's ugliest feet I have ever seen on a doll)

Found my pic of Lyra's neck gapping on the Fantasiadoll (10.6cm) body. It's fine if you only look at him from head on, but from the side or with the neck tilted it's a bit much.

 

Thank you both! I had originally assumed shaving down the neck on a 75cm body would be the "easiest" route, though not necessarily less work.

It feels like the sweet spot for me is likely between 11-12cm. Now I just need to look into the few options that are color matched. I have never owned a large boy doll or any recent large dolls for that matter. My "newest" large doll is from 2010. So I don't know anything about any of these companies.

 

@Lauryn The process isn't too bad if you have one of those ceramic craft knives, like the zoukeimura blades that Volks sells! Peels resin off pretty quickly and then all you really have to do is cleanup sanding.

 

Thank you! I'll order some to practice with on the absolute plethora of spare unoa parts I have while I wait for Caroli. Alchemic Lab is overly generous with their free gifts and I have more spare faces and parts than I know what to do with.

I think the Doll Family H 75 body is my top contender at the moment though, it looks like its 78cm and not 75cm. I like the Prometheus body but the DFH has a slightly bigger hip that looks more balanced and a lot more optional hands. I admit I was not expecting the other optional parts when I scrolled down the order page guess that is the fashion now lol

 

@Lauryn Yep, the DF-H75 body is actually 78cm tall T_T it's very large. DF-H should have colors that are kind of close to what Mori casts in on hand for color matching, at least.

 

It doesn't seem like much difference in the grand scheme of things but I know all too well how a few cm can make or break how an outfit fits.

I thought DFH did color matching but I'm sure they have a soom sample that'd work well enough since I'd probably have the torso blushed anyway.

Can anyone confirm that it's 78cm? BJDivas has it listed at 75cm with head but the rest of their measurements seem a little rounded so AC comes off as more accurate and I can't get the DFH site to load.

Edit: So after going through all the DFH posts the body is essentially a long leg 75cm. The other proportions should fit most ID75 built clothes but the pants will come up short. Theoretically would only be a problem buying fullset outfits. Luts has a 78CM model and worst case, I could buy 80cm pants and tailor them. So it would be between this and UniverseDoll body

 

I ended up getting Chara! I think he'll just borrow my Octans' P75V2 body for now, the characters are meant to be related anyway.

 

I ended up winning Chara, but still haven't received an invoice or a response to the email I sent. Is anyone else still waiting? I'm getting worried.

 

I won both Chara and Caroli. I also ordered Octan with Naiko body. Each of them is in different skin color so I’m thrill for their arrivals XD

I too have problem with Lyra’s body for a while until I put him on LLT body. He looks good, the best from all the bodies I put him on. The proportion came out decent especially the neck part and the color match well. The body, compare to other bodies, is on the slim side but its lean muscle fit quite well with Lyra.

Dollzone 73cm body looks really good but the neck size might be too small. The upcoming 75cm male body from Impldoll looks promising though. They also offer different neck sizes. Might as well check it up when release.

 

I can't wait to see everyone's all done up next year! I hope Mori is still just dealing with the invoice cap they mentioned. I was relieved I got my notification and invoice at the same time. It seems they were very deliberate in the winner notifications so I think your invoice will come, I do wish we had been able to see our submitted form though as I worried for days I made a typo somewhere lol

I hope living vicariously through all the Chara owners will be enough for me

 

LOL turns out I actually got the Chara ticket! Paid the invoice already so I am beyond excited to finally have a Mori9 boy!!!

 

Finally got the invoice and paid it! Now I have twin Chara and Octans. I'm so excited! Chara is the most beautiful boy. Need to find a nice posable body for the normal and sunkiss that I like. I'm so picky and I really need them to fit standard sizes xD

What are some bodies(apart from Naiko's)are yall planning to get for your incoming Mori9 heads? On one hand I am thinking about getting the new Dollzone 75cm slim body but on the other hand I want to save some money too and get a lower budget body :/

 

I ordered the DZ slim 75 for my Lyra. If anyone wants one and wants to get it in one of the resin tones that are similar to Soom or Switch's resins, it may be of interest to order during this initial order period (ends Dec 31st CST), as I believe they discontinue offering those colors after the first order period ends based on their other listings. The price will also go up after Dec31st.

I may chance it and order a second one for Doma despite not knowing what color(s) he'll be released in. I saw Mori answer a question about Luke being cast in tan (he will be!) so I asked if the colors would be the same as the Chara and Caroli release, but haven't heard back yet :')

 

Hm I ordered Chara in (soom) Normal skin, would that be a resin match with DZ normal? I saw they are only resin matching for the non ns colors?

 

I don't think so, DZ's Normal is more pink, for starters. I believe Mori's Normal is closer to Soom's Cream color (it's very light, and the Universedoll Eros 75 bodies cast to match Chara and Caroli were said to also match Lyra's Normal and Swan White resins. Normal Lyra is closer to Soom Cream, so I'm extrapolating here). Here's DZ's color sample chart w/the relevant colors highlighted. I didn't do any research into what colors Mori's tan is supposed to match, but Soom Cream is likely the closest DZ resin match for Lyra/Chara/Caroli in Mori's Normal. I do not think Peony White would match Mori's Swan White at all.

DZ's normal is different than Soom's normal (and Soom's normal is different than Soom's normal for just about every batch, sometimes even within the same batch LOL).
DZ is currently offering colors similar to Soom's Tawny, Peony White, and Cream as additional colors on their 75cm slim body's Taobao listing.
I did just go and re-check all the Taobao listings for DZ's larger (73+cm) bodies, and they do still offer color matches (smaller bodies don't, so I just assumed they did away with color matches after the introductory order period, my mistake!), so hopefully that means no one has to rush to order. That said, the price on their slim 75 will go up on Taobao after Dec 31st CST.

To my knowledge, before Lyra/Chara/Caroli, every Mori release was a different set of colors

Looks like Octans is heading out for shipping these next few weeks and then after New Years will be Chara and Caroli!!! Can't wait, I ended up ordering the DZ 75cm slim body, so we'll see how that matches up.

 

I'm interested to see how the DZ slim looks with any of the heads! I'm waiting on all three and I still haven't gotten a body for my Lyra head Mori9 has me with the absolute most floating heads ever haha

 

I honestly can't wait for Mori to release Doma and Luke next year--they looks much more masculine in comparison to the last three she released this year.

I got my Octans in the mail yesterday and both of my Chara heads in the mail today! I'm floored at how beautiful they are! I wasn't expecting the resin type or the container lol, but they're so gorgeous. These are the first Mori9 dolls I've ever owned and I'm really impressed with them. Headcap is flush and simple and I appreciate the really wide neck hole. It makes the jaw look a little long and weird from some angles but I know it just means the head will have a nice range. Super excited to put them on a body. They're stunning and like Chara is hands down the prettiest ID size boy I've ever seen

 

I actually got my Caroli in today after thinking it wouldn't be until tomorrow, at the earliest. I swear, he flew!! And, yes, omg, that packaging! SOOO many layers! I was floored.

Still wish I could have gotten Chara as well, but I absolutely love my Caroli! * _ *

I got my Octan's head. I tried it on the Ring Doll 6 body, and it looks very nice. Because Ring Doll just came out with a color to match Soom's normal. I think I will go with that for a body.

I don't think the head will work for the character I had in mind, so now I need to figure out what to do with it lol.

My Caroli and Chara showed up two days after I got my shipping notice Octans is scheduled for this upcoming week!. Anyway, here they are with my Lyra, who also is bodiless lol

 

Happy to say I got my first Mori's 9 doll head on Friday which is Caroli! Got here faster than I expected!

 

They only just released the skin tone. So it's pretty new.

I finally bought my Lyra a body. I hope the resin is a good match, but if it’s not hopefully I can tint his faceup. I’m so excited!! I have an outfit ready for him, but no shoes. I made him some eyes I wasn’t totally satisfied with, and that’s the last time I played with him. Now that he’ll have a body I should try again to make some eyes haha

He’ll be on the Idealian 75 body, which will make him taller than my Austaras… who’s supposed to be the most intimidating of all my characters……. So, that’ll be interesting.

I have a few bodies coming in for other dolls that I'm going to try mine on (ATS74, Granado Fortis). I did try him on a Loongsoul 73cm. The fit, proportions and resin match looked good to me (Loongsoul NY, Lyra in NS) but the body was too muscular for the character I'm creating. Ah, the joys of hybrids...

Has anyone gotten their Octans from Veve Dolls yet?

 

Yes, I got mine earlier this week! They use some sort of private courier to the US so the tracking wasn't the best but Octans got here safe and sound.

 

I actually like that body/head proportion. Very realistic.

 

Has anyone gotten their 75cm Naiko Body alongside their Octans order yet? I ordered mine from VeveDolls and haven't heard anything yet.

I see everyone's beautiful Octans and I just can't wait for my boy to arrive home.

 

I received the Octans head in January, but did not order the body - with that said, Vevedolls was not particularly responsive when I've inquired about the Octans head shipments at the end of last year when I saw them coming home for many folks in Asia...

Perhaps they're waiting for the bodies to finish up? Have you looked up any updates from Naiko's personal socials?
