Mori9 Dolls

Yeah it would be intresting to see if anyone outisde china did get a head. I fully intend to try and find one or both secondhand on Taobao/Idle Fish as all the artist's other creations have ended up their so far albeit at infalted prices. I know mori asked people not to buy them in the past but I don't see a anything wrong with it as it's the artist's own sale method that creates scarcity.

 

I think I saw some people on IG saying they got one-- but a lot more saying they didn't, unfortunately.

 

I’m really looking forward to their Swan sculpt and 75cm body. Whenever they do release it though I’ll have to figure out a way to get it from Taobao (hopefully) depending on the number they’re selling.

 

Veles and Austaras are starting to arrive! I'm heartbroken all over again I really really hope there will be another preorder with a higher quantity of heads offered, but it looks like Mori9 has moved on and is working on another head now..... maybe someday...

Also I did see two box opening posts on Instagram from people outside China.

Y'ALL. I managed to score an Austaras head secondhand and I am LOSING IT. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!! I've had this character for 13 years and he has never looked right through 3 different dolls, but when I saw Austaras for the first time, it was like he'd been created directly out of my brain. He's utterly perfect.



Some things of note: Mori9 recommends an Idealian 75 body, 16mm eyes, and 9-10" wig.
The body pictured is an Idealian 72. I think the proportions look good! And thank god for that because 75cm would not fit inside my cabinet. Also, this body is from 2011 and the color match is very good. In person the head is slightly yellower, but I think once it has a faceup it will be completely unnoticeable.
These eyes are 14mm, definitely too small. Major gap by the tear duct.
9-10" wig fits well, perhaps a smidge loose.

 

@overlordu, CONGRAATS. omg, I'm so excited to see owner photos. He looks stunning already! That body fits perfectly. Can't wait to see what you do with him.

 

@mustbemissa Thank you!! I'll be working on his faceup this weekend, and some eyes that actually fit should be arriving on Monday

@Cloudedmind Thanks!! He's replacing a Hyperon. I've had him for quite a while now but only took like 5 photos of him... which I think says a lot.

 

So, Mori9 and DFH are going to release a colab. The doll should be available on 25th of November. Or close to this date.

Is it bad if I keep thinking how he'd make for an amazing girl on a female body? Not that I'm good at hybrids or have room for more dolls, mind you...

I am, sadly, safe. I did not like the body or the face. I guess my money is safe.

I liked the hands, though.

 

I'm a little disapointed. From the preview picture I was hopeful thinking he could be very similar to Veles/Austaras. Well he is similar, but he feels a bit like a watered down version, he dosen't have the personality of those of heads for me. The blank head especially leaves me feeling cold. Intrested to see owner pictures from those who get him.

 

Well, @idrisfynn and I will have twin Lu Xians coming sometime in early spring. Hopefully some other folks ordered him so we can see more of this face sooner!
I do hope this "smaller" size ends up being successful for Mori9, because we cannot shoehorn the chonky boys into our apartment but I sure do love those faces.

 

Just dropping in to share my freshly completed Austaras He's so handsome!!!! I'm sooo happy with him... he is definitely one of my most favorite dolls now



His eyes are giving me trouble, though. I got two pairs made by different artists on Etsy and both of them have problems! 16/5mm eyes are impossible to find ready-made, so do you guys have any recommendations of artists who can make this size? I'm thinking about looking around on Taobao next. The eyes he's wearing here are a good placeholder, so I can be patient... hopefully

I think Tianba makes that eye size? It's hard to find. Let me check my past orders.
ETA No, they do 16/6 for their small iris eyes.

@St. James Thank you!! The eyes he's wearing now are customs by Secret Art Studio, actually! They're not quite the color I asked for, so I have to photoshop them. Which is fine for a while, but it would be nice if he looked right in person too. I think 16/6 could work, so maybe I'll get some customs from Tianba next time!

@overlordu Ah, well, temper your expectations from Tianba as well. They do beautiful work, but unless you are getting one of the ready-made colors for preorder there is quite a bit of artistic license taken.

 

@St. James I have heard that Tianba doesn't take specific instruction very well But I suppose if I give just the right keywords, they might create something gorgeous that works! It'll probably be a while before the next preorder so I have time to think about it...

To be honest, even collectors in China could barely buy them. Because she did not sell a lot of them, it has become extremely expensive in the market right now.... well.....
And personally I do not think she will sell them again. lol

I’m on an making my dolls into anime characters kick and I had already planned another sculpt for Hisoka but it was on the younger looking side so curious as to which one this is.

ETA- OOP! Apparently this was the new Universe Doll collab, sculpt is Killian

Oh thanks!!!! I thought it was the new sculpt they did for universe but I guess not haha they look similar though so I might settle since the universe doll scuplt is more accessible.

 

I have decided to put away some money. In case any new colab would happen.

 

For those who got Austaras or Veles in NS, what body did you use for them? I know ID75 is supposed to be a good match but they're not readily available so just curious if there are other alternatives that would match the resin color/neck measurements.

@purplepaws I'm no help because mine is on an Idealian body (the 72cm one though). They are approximately the same size as an Iplehouse EID so I've always wondered if Austaras and Veles would look good on that! No idea about resin color or neck girth, but proportionately it seems like a viable option. I vaguely remember that Bonelace had a photo of Veles on some other body (might have been LLT?) but I can't find it... maybe you could ask them?

 

@overlordu I saw him on IG! He looks so good! Would love to get a Mori 9 Austaras or Veles one day but market will always be scarce as I asked the artist and they don't ever plan to re-release the same sculpt as they have too many sculpts they make in the backlogs (and also for other companies). But I am just as happy to see pics of them so please continue to post much more of him!

 

@overlordu Thank you for the info! Your boy is amazing!! How do you like him on the 72 body? I've been looking at DF-H bodies since they offer resin matching I believe but also want to see what bodies everyone else got!

@purplepaws Personally I love the 72 body! I think it's perfect! I'm sure he looks fantastic on the 75 too, but the 72 definitely looks proportionate even though it's shorter than what Mori had in mind. Are you looking at DF-H's 75cm body? The neck girth is half a cm smaller than Idealian, which is probably a good thing. Austaras fits well on the Idealian neck but it does look slightly too thick from some angles.

 

Anyone here try for Hayato? I can't imagine how many emails she must have gotten lol. Hoping I get him as I want to see if he will fit on The Voice body.

However, wondering if there are any slimmer bodies than Soom ID people have tried too? *Goes off to hunt on IG*

 

I actually managed to get Hayato! It was an unexpected surprise to see the winning email.
I tried Austaras on the Voice body and the resin is slightly pinker in comparison but otherwise, the proportions look good.

 

Yay congrats! I got a Hayato winning email last night too! Also thanks for letting me know!! I'm super excited to give Hayato the body now. He is going to be an OC of mine an MMA style fighter wolf boy so the body is literally perfect for him :3

I also managed to get an Austaras on the second hand market probably going to try him on a 72cm Miracle doll body and see how it fits/looks for my OC. I wanted something a bit slimmer which is hard to find in the 75~ size range. If it doesnt work I have another boy it could work for so not a complete loss.

 

Omg congrats on your Hayatos!! To be honest I was expecting another sweep of people on DoA saying they hadn't won one. So excited to see them on here!! What skin tone did you guys get?

@purplepaws Ohh... do you have pics of Austaras on the Voice body!? I would love to see that!!

Also I got my Hayato in WS as I wanted it to match the extra WS The Voice body I have coming in the fall.

ETA - Seems like I've seen quite a few Western people on IG saying they got Hayato so looks like she was able to release a bit more this time. There is also people selling extras they will get on Twitter right now as people had friends, etc enter for them. So if anyone missed out they could probably get one there.

 

Congratulations on the Hayato's! I didn't enter, I felt that Hayato really did look like the two sculpts she released with Universedoll, slightly more realistic then Veles and Austaras who I liked because they are more stylised in general with bigger eyes and the facial anatomy flattened down a bit. But - I did find find a Veles secondhand! So he will be coming son, but will ahve to goaway in a cupboard becuase he is a christmas present.

Don't mind the lack of eyes/wig. I'm still working on figuring out how to style him.
Niuniu got a larger neck hole so his head sits flush to the neck while Austaras kinda sticks out but other than that, I think it looks good. Except the head is much pinker. Kind of hard to tell from the photo.

 

@purplepaws Oh my god! The noise I made when I saw this. He DOES look good, wow!!! The neck thing sounds like a typical hybrid problem, nothin that the right wig can't hide hohoho! Are you going to keep him on this body?

@RebelViva Well, if the above photo is anything to go by your Hayato is going to look awesome on that body! Hehehe And I'm glad more Western people seemed to get heads this time! Maybe after getting bombarded with all the sad people who lost Austaras and Veles, she decided to cast a larger quantity.

@Sillypeach Congrats on nabbing Veles! Is he a gift for someone else? Or you just have the most self control ever and are putting him away as a Christmas present to yourself!?

Probably not. This body already have an owner But I love how it poses and all and if they ever offered the body separately, I'd buy another one. His shoulders are a bit of a problem when it comes to finding clothes though haha

 

I got my Austaras today! I wanted to test out The Voice body as well since I have in WS. There is a difference as Mori 9 is lighter/whiter than The Voice which is a bit more yellow/darker. You can tell in some pics and not in others depending on lighting.

He just looks amazing on the body like a greek god. Even more excited for my Hayato now! Haha if I wasn't so set on my Austaras character having a slimmer body he and Hayato would probably have to fight over the extra WS body lol. My The Voice Ying is almost back from faceup so enjoying Austarus on this body for now while I can.

His name is Lucien, he is the older brother of my Vael (Morolab2 Ikyung) and Clovis (Luts Howl). He is an illegitimate Prince who serves as their General and he is low key scheming to kill his brothers for the crown . This sculpt is so versatile I feel he can both do gentle and devious well depending on the faceup. Haha he looks so peaceful/stoic in these pics though I almost feel bad for making him evil .

This isn't his wig or eyes though (thank you for the eye tips again!), but close as he is blue eyed but more darker blonde/brown hair. I purchased all 3 bros the same eyes and waiting for them to come from TB. I'm going to end up purchasing all 3 the same wig too and just style it in different ways once I find a good one (or build up the courage to learn how to crochet a lace front to make them).
