Moggie61 transaction [Moggie's Toyshop]

Jun 4, 2008

    1. I thought of that, too. I know the site had been down for remodeling, but what's to keep them from reopening and selling to other unsuspecting people? It's really a sad, sad deal.

    2. whitewings, how did your friend's trip to Moggie's store turn out?

Also, I just thought of this today: has anyone contacted Eyeco to find out if they've had any contact, or if they can do anything about our eyes? (I ordered over 45 days ago so it's too late to open a Paypal dispute, so I'm seeking out other options.)

    3. I emailed Eyeco just then, now awaiting response. Will post here as soon as they reply.

Now we're just waiting on what whitewings' friend has to say.

Should we also contact B&G, AOD and other companies Moggie deals with?

    4. Chiz --> Let me know what happens with eyeco. My order was for a pair of eyeco eyes but I doubt the order made it to eyeco itself =/

    5. same here~ please let them know I had a pair too!

    6. Here's the response I got:

I'm not sure what relevance that last bit holds for our problem. But it seems that Eyeco had no idea this issue with Moggie was going on. Let's hope they come up with a suitable solution for us people who ordered eyes.

    7. That is interesting. He was apparently having problems as far back as spring.

As far as Eyeco coming up with a solution, it's not really their problem. They don't have to come up with any kind of solution to make it right because they didn't do anything wrong. While I think it would engender customer good will if they did do something to help those that ordered eyes from Moggie, I wouldn't expect them to. It's unfortunate, but much like my order from Dollzone, they never received it therefore they aren't responsible for fixing it.

Let's face it, we got screwed and unless Moggie comes back and makes good on it, we're still screwed.

    8. I just thought of this now... Does anyone know if Innana has a Doa account name too? Has anyone tried to directly contact her and see what's going on?

I hope whitewings finds something too.

I want to add that I tried calling the number... but no luck. It wasn't in service. -_-

Tried Email Contact and this is what I got.... on two of them. One it makes sense the other... If he lists it and his profile exists then there should be an email involved.

    9. Hoo, I have order some pairs of eyes to Moggie's toyshop (50$ amount) in 14th of May and I have wait for news but I have wait too long now.
It's very late for deposit paypal refund and dispute.
I have PM Moggie here too and I have not reply.
I don't undersand this situation. How do they know if all orders are okay ? then, how do making refund ? It's not a little money here !

    10. I managed to open a dispute but it didn't matter, paypal couldn't return my money. Correct me if I'm wrong here, does it mean his paypal account is empty, that's why paypal couldn't help with refund? I would think that since he's offline he couldn't access his paypal account. Of course, I don't know how the refund business works, just speculating.

    11. If there is no money in the account, Paypal usually will not refund the money. (I think the exception is when you bought something on ebay AND have buyer protection).

Most likely, Moggie's paypal account has been suspended - there are quite a few outstanding refunds.

Have you tried either contacting your bank or credit card company (depending on which you used) and asked them for a charge back?

    12. Someone needs to get someone to shut down that webshop, I tried to make 'orders' from it and it still works. This will only collect more victims if its left as is. I hope paypal bars incoming money to its account since its suspended. But if I think like a criminal in another scenario, I'd change the paypal address on the site and the money still can go through. Don't mind me, I'm analytic.

    13. Their ebay shop no longer exists...i dont think our chances of gettign our money back or our goods is very promising. Im not going to wait any more, im just going to reorder my eyes from eyeco. I was lucky i only ordered one small thing. All the best to those of you who spent a lot more. And Kagari my heart goes out to you, you lost your kids that must be so heartbreaking, id be devistated.:...(
I think going to the police is probably the way to go, expecially if they have someones dolls!
Best of luck to you all!

    14. I took the liberty to contact the host Listed here: http://www.imakewebsites.ca/contact/

      His email is [email protected]

Here is what i wrote to him.

I wonder if many people complain or say something the server/host can disconnect the site temporarily. Temp for the sake of getting things resolved and getting everyones money and things.

    15. Thanks for the info Jamiesama. I mailed a similar message off to the email address you provided.

    16. OKidoki all....

Like I posted a few days ago I've taken steps here to find out what the heck is going on

I've rung the Warburton Police and issued my official concern, and explained the extent of the situation, they said they would be doing a "Wellfare Check" and unfortunately due to the privacy act they cannot give me any further information about Ian (Moggie) unless I am either related to him or in the event he has been contacted by them he gives them permission to discuss it with me. So either way I still do not know if he's alive or what...?

My girlfriend went to the address supplied on the website and said no-one was there and it looked like no-one had been there in a fair while. I've asked the Officer what the next step is for everyone involved to recover their money and their property, she is mailing me an information pack which should arrive in the next couple of days. I've informed the mods and now I'll have to wait untill the stuff arrives. My suggestion would be to contact your local police (if you are outside Australia) in the meantime and ask how to go about recovering funds from overseas. I personally am out of pocket also though according to my bank (NAB) there is little I can do about it except file for a reversal, though this requires the recipient to acknowledge in order to have it returned except extenuating circumstances or if its accompanied by a police report.

Sorry I cant be of more help but I WILL definitely let you know what the pack contains when it arrives.

    17. Thank you so much whitewings, for all your trouble! As for the place looking like it has been vacant for a while... I just don't know what to say.

    18. This is really sad..
But perhaps it's an idea to make an overview of what was ordered and paid. It might give the police departement perhaps a better overview of what they are dealing with.

    19. Would it be more appropriate if this thread was moved to the "Feedback Section" or "Paging List" for those without marketplace access so they can view this? I will PM the mods and ask them whether this is something appropriate.

I pray the rest of you guys will be made good as it was freaakin stressful for us too. I was going to contact the police here too but I saw that that's already been done. If there's anything I can help further, with police statements, etc please let me know.

Also as an afterthought: If you had use credit cards (not through paypal) to make your payments, you are most likely able to get the transaction reversed and get your money back through your credit card provider/financial institution.

I made my payment through direct debit with my bank directly into their personal bank account (which I still have the details of) which was a stupid thing to do cause it's so bloody risky.

    20. Oh my, now I can see that I'm just one of many screwed up...
I have ordered two dolls, Floy and Celine from DZ (both with white skin and fullset - they were going to be my first BJD!) through Moggie (through eBay). I was totally devastated when I found out that it was to late for dispute and there was no response from Moggie. It seems I have lost a lot of money (exactly $1260 paid on April 25th 2008). I have chosen him as back then there was no DZ agent for Poland and he had had a very good reputation...
After I could't contact with Moggie I wrote to DollZone. They wrote me not to worry and to wait.
Payment was done through paypal with use of credict card. Do you know if this is enough proof to report it somewhere (I mean - bank can provide statement that such amount of money was transferred to him)? In example to my local police? Would they be able to do anything at all?
Or do you have any other ideas as what we can do?
Because I think we all must try our best to solve this problem. If we count everyone who paid and got nothing, that would be just enormous amount of money that was - unless Moggie suddenly comes back and so on - stolen.

    21. (emphasis added to highlight the important bit)

In light of the information that's been posted recently . . . elisabethflanagan, would you be willing to tell the rest of us when your visit to Moggie happened? I was taking it to be a fairly recent thing, but now I'm confused, after reading that no one is at the shop and that Moggie has been taking customers' money but not placing the orders with the companies for months.

    22. Daris,
Call your credit card company immdeiately and ask them to do a charge back (or reversal) - you will most likely be able to get your money back.

    23. I logged out of the thread to test it and it was still viewable. The Buying/shipping Q's and advice link is still accessible to nonmembers and members who don't have the required amount of posts. So don't worry about that. Members example of this who have posted include: HamstereLady70, and Daris.

As for Whitewings. Thats really bad and scary. Nothing there. This is starting to get scarier and scarier actually. I was trying to have hope that someone would find him *which im still clinging to for everyone that got taken advantage of to get their money or things*. I still haven't gotten a reply from the host master yet either. I really hope that they can shut the site down. I know yahoo can flag sites as harmful.

I think the best advice right now is to report this to your local police *give them a photo of him from his profile as well as his wife* and get a warrant out for his arrest. Get all information and copies of your reciepts etc to give to them. The more information you can give them the easier it will be for the cops to find him as well as investigate. I am not sure how Australia deals with these cases, but its how the US typically find it easy to find the person at hand.

Even if someone in your area has reported it already, do so again. In cases as these, the more complaints and people are taken advantage of is the probability and more likely to get the police to react sooner. Not to mention here in America the more they take advantage of the critical the punishment for breaking the law. I would add legal advice too*like lawyers*, but that should wait until Ian's found.

Innana needs to be found as well. Has anyone found her on here? Has anyone who has ordered from Moggie way back when before he opened up the online shop, and received their items, remember a different address? I know you would most likely throw that information away *like box packaging*, but if anyone knows someone who has had a successful order please ask them for the return address if they have it and see if it is different than one listed on the shop, either on receipt or kept box packaging. Has Moggie ever purchased items from others? If he has and used paypal to pay, the confirmation and sent money should have his shipping address listed. There should also be history in paypal that shows an order etc.

Has anyone who is part of other doll forums know if Ian has made himself present there?

I hope this helps for now. I am going to go sew and do some detective work to find Inanna. I am also going to pray for everyone too. -_- I hate when stuff like this happens to good people.

EDIT: I found their photobucket account and it is accessible. The last doll meet they were at and took pictures accord to the account is 2-3-08. unfortunately I couldn't see if any images were new or not because their are no dates listed. :/

      Here is the link. http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w220/moggie61/

I discovered that Innana does NOT have an account. Which I find strange... Ian would post for her.

HOWEVER I did find another transaction problem thread of people LAST year searching for Moggie. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144335&highlight=Innana It seems disappearing has happened to him before... I wonder if something really bad happened now.

    24. http://moggie61.livejournal.com/profile, this is his live journal, last updated 27 Mar

I don't know if this would be any help, but someone could possibly get in contact with his lj friends and see if they've heard from him or anything.

I don't have a lj so I'm not much help when it comes to that -_-U sorry

    25. You rock! Seriously! Thanks for finding that!

EDIT Those who have lj's and ordered from Moggie try to contact Ashbet listed in his mutual friends area shes still active even on Deviantart if you have an account there too.

    26. I'm one of his LJ friends, and I've been trying to contact him that way for months now. No answer.

    27. I think with things like that its best to organise one person to contact them, instead of everyone going off on their own and asking the same person the same thing ten times over. While I understand everyone wants to know what has happened to Moggie and wants their money/items, mass messaging people not involved in the situation is not the best idea.

As for other questions: no, Inanna doesn't have her own account here, she does on another local forum but neither of them have posted for a number of months.

    28. Also I searched the white pages and there is one other person with the same last name as him living in the same area. It's a long shot but they could be related and therefore be able to shed some light on the situation.

If possible maybe someone who is more involved with the case, seeing as I don't know all the details, could get in contact with this other person and polietly asked them if they knew Ian, they might get some information.

It might be a fairly rude thing to do but this is a serious case and people are being stolen from so I don't think it's too much.

PM me if you would like the number.

EDIT: I am going offline now and won't be able to reply right away if anyone PM's, though I will ge back to you today if you do

    29. If you're going to ring people, I suggest you do it calmly and not mention him stealing. Because if this person is related to Ian then they're not going to hand over contact details. Just in case you're out to get him or something.

      Just my 2 cents.

    30. That's very true, if someone does decide to ring they'll have to make sure they go about it in the correct manner or else it could end badly =\

    31. Eek, ok, I did some research myself since I noticed some of his "interests" on his LJ. Can someone that is directly involved in this and is willing to contact him please PM me and I can give you the information? It isn't *appropriate* for DoA...

Also... please be 'legal age' - 19 or 21 depending on your location... its *that* kind of inappropriate.

    32. Thanks for the info and thats very true. Since you live there and I think you had contact with him once before, have you heard anything?

No Offense... but his interests shouldn't have ANYTHING to do with the situation. If you insinuating that he is Wiccan that shouldn't make any difference.

As for being LEGAL age. I do agree with that. Whoever does infact able to make contact... Let those know whats been up.

    33. I have nothing against his interests and its not his faith. He is active on this other board - so if someone wants to PM me I will forward them all the information, I won't post about it on an open community with minors.

    34. cudna is referring to a fetish forum where Moggie was active two days ago leaving a comment on someone elses post. Before that his most recent post was 9 days ago, and then 14 and 15 days ago.

    35. I only talk to them at meets or on forums, so sorry, I have no other information that can be of help to you.

    36. I don't know if it is appropriate or not, but is there anyway to get a message to him through that forum's mods? We're really running out of resources here.

    37. If someone were to sign up you could message him or the moderators of that forum, but I am not sure what that would achieve, it appears that Moggie is actively avoiding venues like DoA and LJ etc where he might be confronted about these issues, and I would say he will probably ignore any further attempts at communication as well. As I am a Moderator I cannot get involved in transaction problems like this, so it would be up to someone who has direct involvement in a transaction with Moggie to organise the information and pass it on to the Moderators of this other forum, or probably more correctly to the local Police.

    38. He posted 2 days ago,eh? Well I wasn't pissed off before, but now I am. It means he is actively not responding to our messages and has done a runner with all our stuff.

I'm going to contact the police. Do I call the Victorian police or can I go to my local station? It's time to face the facts: Moggie's scammed us.

    39. I'd help but I only bought a pair of eyes and its not significant enough to do an individual report here. If anyone needs to collect transaction details, give us a hoot.

    40. Hi Everyone,

      I'm here and alive.

My apologies (not that they are worth much at this point) for this entire mess.

I am currently working on getting refunds to those affected. It may take some time but noone is going to lose their money. I know that you don't have any reason to believe me at this point and I don't expect that this promise will mean much to anyone at this stage.

A lot of things happened which snowballed on me and this resulted in a blackness which is still hanging over me and I doubt it will disappear any time soon. I am basically an honest person and I have no intention of ripping anyone off.

The denial period is now over and I'm here to face the music. Please do whatever you feel is necessary, I have earned whatever actions you take.

    41. Nice to hear from you Moggie! Glad you posted to let us all know you're still there. It was a very reluctant move from me to call you a scammer, but that last revelation got me mad so I cracked. Hope you can pull through whatever difficulties you're having.

    42. We trusted you. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I want to trust you still, now that you've come forward. I don't think anyone here wants to see punishment dealt out, as long as they get their money (and their dolls) back. That's all I want - my money back. I think, more than anything, people have been worried about you, because you just vanished with our money and that seemed to many of us to be totally out of character for you.

At any rate, I hope you are here to make good on these transactions and I hope things are looking up for you.

    43. When are you going to pay them back? I think if people are to trust you in this, you need to give dates and keep them. A lot of scammers have done what you are doing now, coming back, asking forgiveness and then stringing people along until they just give up. Please show us that you are not one of them.

    44. Well, I'm not going to give out false hopes or impressions by giving exact dates on when each person will be repaid. It's going to be as and when I can, as I said it may take us some time. Both myself and Innana are going back to fulltime work. Some orders will be filled and others will be given their money back depending on what they prefer.

Feather - I am not asking forgiveness and if I gave the impression I was, it wasn't meant to be taken that way. I know that my reputation here is not worth anything anymore.

I've screwed up and I take full responsibility for that and whatever consequences come as a result of it. I am not asking anyone to stop taking whatever actions they feel are warranted.

Krissy - I am not deserving of trust, all I can do is make good on everything and until that happens there should be no trust given. I doubt I will ever earn it back.

Chizzie - It's going to take time and the road back looks long from here. All I can do is one step at a time.

    45. I have actually put a note in the news section of the website. Part of the process in fixing the whole mess will involve some trading through the website, especially in relation to products which we make ourselves. The website does not do a lot of traffic so it's involvement is minimal in the strategy. Our main source of sales was Ebay and that has been completely shut down.

    46. As I posted a few posts back, I was involved in a transaction with moggie, which was CC funded and therefore I have put in for chargebacks. So I am covered. I don't wish to make trouble, but what happened to the money that other people, who didn't use credit cards, sent to Moggie? If it wasn't sent on to Dollzone then was it moved to a bank account or was it spent? This "as and when I can" wording makes it sound like the money is actually gone. I think the people involved in transactions deserve to know the full details, especially since it's been suggested that those who paid with cash will have to wait for repayment.

    47. I am only indirectly linked to this whole thing since my Friend Keet Ordered from him using Money from her Debit Card... I know she had about $350 sent to him and I was told by her Paypal Refunded her $200 but That was not from Moggie. Paypal gave her some of it back as compensation for the waiting... As with Bunnydots post I want to know why the Money is gone and may take some time to get back :/ That Money was in large part for Orders and Not personal use so that bugs me quite a bit, I don't know about Other people who need their money back Asap But I know Keet and I would like to see it back as quick as possible Since we had a car accident on 7/20 Money would help a ton :/...( Kind of of topic but still x-x; the refund would help us )

    48. Spirit and Bunny - Like most businesses I was working on a rolling cashflow.

Most companies don't take Paypal from their agents so the money had to be moved from Paypal to a bank account which then gets transfered either to a doll company, shipping company, Ebay etc...... I always ran on a small profit margin, using part of the normal profit margin to cover things like subsidised shipping (no-one ever acually paid the whole amount that it actually cost to ship something), then there were of course Ebay fees, Paypal fees and so on which all cut into profit margin.

I'm trying to think of a good way to demonstrate this. Think perhaps of a car which needs to have petrol put in it to run. The bank account is the car, Paypal is the fuel. The car runs using fuel, this is transfered from Paypal to the bank account. The car then pays all the bills, with fuel being constantly pumped into the tank. Normally this works fine but then Ebay threw a spanner in the works by saying you have to wait three weeks for the next fuel stop. The car of course was still running, dolls had to be shipped, fees paid and so on. My first mistake was that I underestimated the effect that a three week gap would have on the smooth running cash flow. Until then, the cash flow was covering everything that needed to be done when it needed to be done.

There were other issues as well which contributed (broken car for one, can't ship dolls minus the vehicle) and Paypal then began to hold funds and issue refunds which further complicated matters. I had already issued some refunds personally, so not all Paypals doing. At that stage, I lost all the ability the control the cash flow and things went from bad to worse. If I had been able to retain control of the cash flow then I would have been able to meet the demands of business for orders.

I ceased to trade on Ebay around four weeks ago when it became obvious that its new policies and Paypal were compounding the problem. That was my lowest point personally and the world fell in on me.

So now, we are both back in the work force, and looking at other ways to increase cash flow so that funds can be moved as quickly as possible into the Paypal account to finance the refunds.

Velvet - Thanks you for the kind words, your money will be repaid, and I thank you for your patience.

    49. hrm its good to know u are alive, cos i was quite worried about something bad happening...

for now i dun need the commissions but i would love that u can try to ship my 2 kids back to me ASAP

as for the troubles u encountered i do believe once there were cracks u should have repaired em instead of waiting for it to collaspe.... but yeah learn from your mistakes and move on, thats life XD

    50. Okay, posts ARE disappearing from this thread...it just happened while I was reading it! Mods, please explain :?

    51. Perhaps the thread should be moved to the problem transactions section if it's going to be so heavily moderated?
That way at least people looking out for sellers to be wary of may actually see it since I doubt they'll check Buying/Shipping Qs and Advice for such information and since the rules applying to that section seem to be applying here it may save some confusion as to why perfectly valid comments are being removed.

    52. Lol, my post was just removed and so was Moggies. XD I bet this one will be too! Doesn't the rules say that the marketplace is supposed to be mostly moderated by the users?

So why are posts being deleted like this, especially when there is no negativity presented?

    53. This makes no sense, like 5 posts that were helpful, not hostile at all - just giving RELEVANT information have been deleted. Why on earth is this being so heavily moderated?? I thought it was DoA's policy to not get involved in marketplace problems? That would generally entail not taking clear sides and deleting every relevant post that isn't hostile but isn't brimming with praise.. I know this post will be deleted in half a second, just consider what you're doing.. :|

    54. If I remember correctly it was actually moved here from there originally which makes no sense. Is it that "companies" get different treatment than individual members? really, seriously guys...Problem Transactions is where everyone has learned to look for this stuff. Should I start looking here too before transacting with people? Please be fair and move it over.

    55. I haven't been tending this thread, but in reviewing some of the posts that have been removed, they have NOT been relevant (such as general well-wishing at one end and a bit of raving at the other). Keep it on topic. This thread is NOT to hash out your individual issues with Moggie - that should be happening privately. This thread is here more as a warning to others, a way for Moggie to communicate, and also a way for the buyers to stay in communication with one another so that they may find out if refunds and restitution are actually being made. This is still a Marketplace subforum, so chat is not okay here. In an effort to keep this thread compact so that it is actually informative, please keep your accounts factual and as unemotional as possible.

This feedback belongs in the Buying and Shipping or Company Reviews because Moggie is a dealer, and these transactions were done through his personal website and not DoA's Marketplace.

While I'm here, knock it off with the deprecating tags. If I see these again, the people who are abusing the tagging feature will lose the ability to use it. Thank you.

    56. I too have noticed there have been many deleted posts, and am wondering why and what purpose it serves to delete discussion of this topic. I'm especially bothered because I was actually involved in a transaction and now apparently am not allowed to comment on the situation. This sort of moderation does not give me very much faith that DoA is actually committed against scams and fraud, and does not encourage me to post further here on any topic.

Edited to add, I posted this at the same time Armeleia posted so I didn't see her explanation before it went up; however, I stand by my post.

    57. Bunnydots, please see the above. Thank you.

    58. You say this, but..

I'm curious how that's relevant and doesn't count as general well wishing. I really truly am.

    59. I think it should be removed to problem transactions because it has elevated to being more than a delayed shipping/company sent wrong eyes type of situation - which is the jist of most negative company reviews which are few and far between in this section of the forum. I can't think of a single thread here where a company has been taking money for dolls, not placing orders and then not even guaranteeing refunds. There are some ebay only scammers that are in problem transactions, and quite rightly so.

I do not expect to check multiple forums for this sort of thing. In fact, I didn't know I should check this forum for this sort of thing. I presumed any serious company problems would be allowed to be posted in problem transactions. Silly me, I've only been here a few years.

Edit: I would also like to add that I nearly joined the ripped off people here because I didn't see anything in problem transactions. The only reason I didn't buy multiple items from Moggie is because he didn't respond to a simple ebay message.

    60. Agreeing with this. Though I'm new to DoA, it's particularly discouraging to see that posts are being randomly deleted saying they're not relevant, but clearly irrelevant ones are left up. It also makes me question the integrity of DoA to remain in this thread. I'm nervous enough as it is to make purchases over a forum, but this type of moderating makes me second-guess it even more. When something like this goes down, it is important to have the answers and spread the word, not censor mindlessly just because people vent their frustrations in with their information or questions.
