I’m so happy. My second hand Grell Sutcliff MiniMee arrive today! It still need a body. Hope to find another Buddy Body because I really like its proportion.

    2. Does anyone know if people are still allowed to send in pictures of themselves for a minimee? And which company does that?
Unless I'm mistaken, I remember waaaaaayyy back there was a company or two that would (for a hefty price) make a one of a kind minimee, I just don't remember which company did that.

    4. Thank you so much! I was starting to think I was crazy because I couldn't find anywhere that still did this.
Luckily I have a friend that speaks Mandarin so maybe she'll help me :D

    5. Everyone has such interesting Minimee sculpts, I don't follow Western-media much so I'm pretty clueless as to whom most are,
but I love all the ones based on anime and (Japanese) video games. At least, I can recognize those! Lol! DX

Quick photo of my Lelouch Minimee; I love how he looks on my Limhwa's Mano's body, the proportions are pretty close to he character
if only the arms are a tad on the muscular side (not too bad though). I always intended for most of my Minimee to be floating heads,
so I wasn't upset when I didn't get an extra Mano to permanently have a body for my Lelouch, but now it makes me a bit sad that missed
the opportunity. The wig has been Psed, because I shouldn't be styling anime hair ever! I almost started cursing when I was trying hard to keep
my cool and the wig just wouldn't cooperate (it's my fault, I suck at making wigs and styling hair even when it's just regular human-like hair!).

    6. After lurking and ogling for years, I've finally fallen into the resin BJD pool -- and of course it was "Minimee" heads that got me.
I bought a Granado head (V-08) because I thought it resembled Tom Hiddleston's Loki, and looking up other celebrity-style sculpts lead me to Natrume on Etsy where I bought her Dean and Castiel heads.

I can't wait to get them in! But now I have to find bodies...

Oh, and is it just me, or does this Immortality of Soul doll "Jade" REALLY look like David Tennant? Immortality Of Soul

I am torn between buying a used Tennant head by Owl, or buying this one. I'm sure someone has brought this up before, but does anyone have some advice for a newbie? :)

    7. I can't help you on the heads. Because the heads are large (usually) they need a broad shouldered doll body. I have my Sam Worthington head on my 5th Motif Veintu body. I also thought the head resembled Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) so photo-shopped my head - taking out the head cap and adding the Star Trek uniform - and it works for me.
I wish the heads were not quite as large and my older DIM heads have yellowed quit a bit - even - but still yellow.

    9. Arekushia, that is a very interesting looking Minimee, I would guess it's one based on an anime character,
but I have no idea who, or if it is for sure one. I stopped caring about DIM Minimee head sculpts after I got my custom
Sephiroth head sculpt from them. However, I am certain he is a DIM Chinese team Minimee head sculpt, because of the
characteristically lopsided cranium and weirdly protruding head-cap (I own enough of their MNM sculpts to recognize them).
Sorry I can't be of any help in your search, but I do hope you find out who the sculpt is supposed to be. I googled MNM photos,
but there aren't that many around. (:

Here's a recent photo of my custom DIM Sephiroth MNM head sculpt.

    12. My Nobility Doll Mr B:

He's still not quite right - but with the addition of that gorgeous custom wig (that the lovely Myrretah made for me) he's one step closer to being the Thin White Duke/Mr Newton.

...The flatcap is part Bowie's on again/off again choice of hat, and a nod to his hipster-esque obsession with the Peaky Blinders before they got turned into a TV show!

    13. I'm in search for a Minimee head of Aoi from the GazettE.
Is there anybody knowing where I could find one?

    14. @Nici-chan83 Have you tried putting up a want-to-buy thread in the Marketplace?

    15. Yes, I did and no answer till now.
I also asked somebody on etsy about sculpting a new one but I only got the answer that I must found some more who want this head because the sculpting is to expensive.

    16. @Nici-chan83 I see. :( How about starting a hosted order for an Aoi in the Marketplace, and hopefully get some people together and place a group order with this Etsy seller?

    17. I have access to full marketplace since today. I think this would be the only option I have now.

    18. I discovered that a particular standard sculpt could be made to look almost exactly like a particular Korean actor. I won't go into boring detail. I'll just show finished doll pics along with an explanation of who he is.

Anyone who's seen the Korean historical fantasy drama, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo will known the main character, 4th Prince Wang So. I fell in love with that show and with the character of Wang So, specifically. The character is played by Korean actor, Lee Jun-Ki (Joon-Gi)

I discovered that with the right faceup, wig, etc, Iplehouse's Bichun sculpt could look exactly like this character as played by Lee Jun-Ki.

      Actor:

      Doll:

I then found a photo of an iconic scene from the show and tried to recreate it with my doll. Keep in mind that Iplehouse dolls aren't the greatest of posers and they don't have mobility joint arms so there's only so far their arms can cross over their chests before the don't go any further.

    21. OMG! Then I have the chance to get my Aoi from the GazettE head too
      These are great news

    22. I'm curious if anyone knows of any photos of the DBSK heads that are listed at the beginning of this thread? I would love to see those.

Also, how stylized is the stylized option? I'm thinking of doing a stylized version of huang zitao, but I'd want to see some examples first.

    27. Hello to all! I am to visit you. I waited a long time, but now I have mini Kim Taehyung from BTS!
The heads have only recently come and I cannot let them out of my hands. There is a long work to create images, but this is just a joy to me! I could not resist and decided to show clean here!
So far, of course there is not visible to him. But I assure you that Kim Taehyung is sure!

It's Kai from the GazettE and he is my absolute favourite musician.

    29. Ooo I'm gonna show your Kai to a friend of mine that adores him just as much c:
I'm curious about the Aoi, too. I helped the one group (Or maybe it was just one person...) order tweak the mods for the sculpting process, but I never saw the final result.

I saw some Aoi minimees but never a head for sale. And ordering a new is so expensive (ㄒoㄒ)

    32. I second this!

    33. [IMG] I am very excited for this minimee I am getting from Owls_Moor on bjdclub. This was the photopolymer print, now it is getting finished up and then cast.

    38. I guess it's because minimee's are harder to come by these days, but given the popularity of the J-Rock heads back in the day I'm surprised there's not more K-pop boys around. I've seen a few vaguely-BTS sculpts floating around, but that's about it. Not that I wouldn't mind getting a BTS guy, because they're all gorgeous, but there's a lot of other k-idols out there I could definitely see as bjd sculpts.

(...okay what I mean is A. if i got one bts i'd feel bad not getting them all because ot7 and all that, and B. i really just want Super Junior's Kim Heechul because he is the prettiest human being i have ever seen in my life, and i want a Leeteuk to go with him)

(but C. the only thing stopping me from seriously planning on getting a minimee is that they are usually made for 70+ bodies and the only body i'd ever get in that size is probably a granado vindoll because i am a very smoll person and even my yid iplehouse 63cm boy is a pain in the butt for me to handle...:sweat)

    39. ...Aaaaaand I just went back to the front page and got reminded of this guy, who I'm pretty sure is based on the K-pop artist Rain - /threads/doll-new-rain-47cm-limited-edition.815698/

He's msd sized, so not technically on-topic for this thread but eh?

    40. I am searching for these JRock-minimees but it is so hard to find somebody who is selling one of the old heads or enough people who want theses heads again.
So if you are interested in one, let me know because I still searching for other collectors for the GazettE minimees ;-)

    41. Just putting it out there that a fantastic artist on IG was stopped cold by BHE, which is a seriously dangerous force to be reckoned with. (I was so sad...I really wanted a couple of those boys!!) I expect most labels are pretty protective of their music properties, so artists need to keep it way under the radar...

    42. I think it was the buyers innocently using the real names that alerted the music companies.

    43. As I understood it at the time, people were asked to keep quiet, and a few were...unable...to do so. Either way, it was a sad chain of events for the artist, and I'd be surprised if other artists who knew about it did not take the lesson to heart.

    44. What exactly is minime? Are they just sculpted to look like someone specific?

    45. Essentially, yes. Minimee was a service offered by the company "Doll in Mind".
You would send reference pictures of the person or character you wanted to one of their artists who would sculpt the head.
After going back and forth with tweaks and changes, you would eventually be presented with a prototype and once approved a mold was made to cast final versions of the head. The process was very expensive so many people would host group orders to help off-set the price of having the mold made.

      • x 2
    46. That's amazing! I didn't know that was even a thing. Do they still offer that service?

    47. No, but there are some indie dollmakers around that still make those kinds of heads, you'll find them poking around Instagram and Etsy. Other companies like Granado are also opening their own custom head services.

    48. Technology has also greatly improved, with the use of 3D scanning and software, heads can be near identical human-to-doll replicas.

    49. I'm curious if there is Chester Bennington minimee.

    50. i've had a minimee of myself for probably for eight years or more. my guilty pleasure is dressing my female doll as a grandpa outfit wise. when i first got her i bought dresses until i found a wide array of old guy slacks n sweaters n plaid shirts. pretty soon her whole wardrobe was stuff my grandpa would wear. i take pics of her people assume its a male doll. i also have a dimdoll minimee of johnny depp at 65cm . at the height of super dollfie popularity i had my illustrations of food put on tshirts and my manufacturer did such a great job . he cut around the image like a real hamburger was resting on his shirt.

    51. Hello I have a question I just recently got a minimee Andrew Lincoln head and wonder if anyone could point me in the direction of a body, I have been digging trying to find some info and haven’t found much . I have tried a EID male body an was way to big . Any help is appreciated

    52. That is a hard questions you got there. It will depend on who made the sculpt also; is it an actual DIM Minimee, or by another company/artists? A lot of the older (Chinese team) DIM Minimee are huge. I paid extra for a custom sculpted head sculpt I got from them, to make it much smaller than their usual work. Yet ,they made it as large as it was possible (by my standards of melon-headed-dolls). Was the head too big for the EID body, or the other way around? I find that all the MNM I own by DIM are too big, they would barely look proportionate on something as massive as an EID, but they would probably need to have their neck-openings widened by a whole lot and probably some additive mods on the nape area to work on those bodies.

I don't own a lot of BJD bodies, because I lost interest in purchasing any more a long time ago. I own a 67cm male body with a 12.5cm neck, and I find all my MNM heads too big to work for a neck that size. I don't own MNM by other companies or artists, so I can't give you any other suggestions if yours is not by DIM. There are a lot of older posts on here about which bodies people use for their MNM however. Some might work for yours. Although, if you are looking for a realistically proportioned body, with a neck that's the width of the jaw, then you'll probably never find one. Good luck regardless. (:

Sorry for the wall of text and any unnecessary ramblings, I should go to sleep at 5:30AM, but I can't. DX

    53. Thank you for the response , he has a 10cm neck opening and was way to small for the EID body he was sculpted by pezzini casted by haru casting in 2018.

    54. I'm not familiar with Pezzini, but from google it seems like they have sculpted mini-sized Minimee heads. 10cm seems like a really small neck, and I own dolls with 11.5cm that seem super thin for a larger doll. I would probably say that mature looking bodies that are male, will be hard to find with necks that thin. Unless you are looking for something more stylized, like Doll Chateau. You could look through dealers, and see which male bodies have 10cm necks. If you don't mind moding the head's opening, you can probably place the head on a larger body, depending on how deep and wide the opening is. Some heads just need to be placed on smaller bodies. It's probably not really helpful, but I don't believe there is a specific thread for Pezzini Minimee head sculpts on here. Good luck. (:

    55. @Ksherwood8713 Loongsoul has a 73cm body that can be ordered with a 10.5cm neck. I have one for a head that usually would need a 65cm body but I like the broader shoulders of the 73cm boy. You would need to widen the neck hole of the head though.

    56. Thank you for the advice :D

I have been digging for awhile now and haven’t found much either but have a long list of companies that the neck circumference should hopefully work. I have seen this head on a dollshe body and it’s not to terrible

    57. Hi, based on your info it is MNM head sculpted by pezzini for group order that was lead by member of russian bjdclub community in 2016-2018. I quickly checked the discussion thread and it seems that initially head was designed for Iplehouse SID body and neck, though some additional modding might be required to improve the movement range.
One of the participants from original order has her head planned for Soom SuperGem body.
Unfortunatelly I couldn't trace any actual owner photos for the completed doll.
