Minifee MNF Discussion thread Part 4

May 4, 2006

    1. After some debating, I think it might be best to order my first doll through FL myself even if I don't get free shipping. I was going to go through DDE or a GO but I personally rather it be in my name if something bad were to happen (not that I think it would...but you never know). Though, I would like a few of the spare hands and an outfit from FL...still not enough for free shipping.

    2. Aquadoe:
:3 never ordered from FL itself but you do have a point

    3. Maybe in the future if I got another doll I would, but I think I'd feel more comfortable at least my first doll. I think GO's are a good option but I feel I'm too new to this community..
Plus it's a lot of money I'm spending on this doll...I guess I get nervous something could go wrong. At least I'd be able to communicate better with FL. (paranoid LOL!)

    4. Oh me and you both Aquadoe,I'm reeaaally paranoid when it comes to ordering dolls!!
MOSTLY BECAUSE MY MAIL MAN WONT COME TO MY DOOR SO I WIND UP MISSING IT!!
Then my mom and sometimes I have to drive aaall the way down to the post office and get it.WHICH IS REALLY FAR AWAY

    5. lol :XD: we live like five minutes out of delivery range, so they never deliver my dolls to the house. our mail is also delivered primarily by volunteer workers who change every few months :/ sometimes it will be a really lousy person and we'll go a few months getting other peoples' mail, getting packages sent back (even BILLS returned, wtf)...

needless to say, i stalk the tracking like a crazypants around the day it should be getting into town, and i hustle to the post office (which is like 20 minutes away) and argue with the clerk for like five minutes before they let me pick up the package with just the tracking number, rather than waiting to see if the mail person will deliver the package slip or not. i've had some packages that didn't even get a slip left. or one time i had an insured package and a non-insured package come in... they left a slip and the insured package in my mailbox, and when i went in with the slip there was a lot of confusion as they were like "uh, well, there's THIS package here but we don't know why it wouldn't have been delivered... have you gotten anything from california recently?" and i was like =___=....

      blargh. :sigh

    6. Aqua, I suffer paranoia myself and EVERY time I buy a doll, whether straight from the company or secondhand I fear something will go wrong. My Denver Doll order is the only one I wasn't really fearful of. Not sure why, perhaps because they are an established American-based company and very trust-worthy.
But it's very instinctual, in my opinion, to worry when ordering overseas or from individual people.

My very first doll (a Demon Garden 63cm boy body) was purchased from Demon Garden directly and their EMS delivered it to an address in New York. DG wrote me back about how concerned they were but that basically I was on my own with regard to finding it/receiving it. They advised me to contact EMS as it was no longer in their control, naturally the EMS site is in an Asian language, I can't read it. So I was stuck. Luckily the good samaritan who received it in New York sent it my way.
Of course at first I believed it to be some conspiracy but in the end I received it, but not without undue stress. *_*

But DG is still a newer company and they don't make so many dolls. I really don't think you'll have any problems with Fairyland. They really know their business, they're not backed up by brand loyalty for nothing. ;)

    7. [IMG]
Hello thread, I am sick :<
I got these eyes for my incoming tiny, but someone has got to model them for me to see so.

    8. honestly i have to say i trust fairyland waaaaaay more than DDE :/ i myself have had problems with DDE, and i know other people have as well. i saw somebody had gotten a ltf sent to the wrong address and DDE was basically like "well you'd better hope that person sends it to you". things like that, and mixing up parts to fix incorrect orders, etc. i will never place an order through DDE again :|

in my eyes, yes, DDE is an american-based company, but fairyland cares a lot more about their dolls and when it comes down to it why deal with a middleman, where you're leaving it open for more things to go wrong.

    9. I was more worried about my order direct from Fairyland than my DDE order, too. DDE speaks English as their native language - less chance for miscommunication, plus while I know individual buyers are very important to all companies, I know most companies I've worked with are more careful with DEALER orders, since they bring in much more money than individuals and since they place multiple orders a month with Fairyland I figured they probably have their own rep there who they work with directly. With DDE I was really relaxed about the whole thing. And I figured if it REALLY went pear-shaped, DDE being in the same country was a huge advantage if anything legal needed to be done.

It was unnecessary, of course, when I bought direct from Fairyland it was AWESOME, and they were great, and there were no problems. I still was in near-panic from the minute I ordered until they confirmed it, and kept a close watch, but it all went well.

At this point I would prefer to order from Fairyland directly, even if I don't make free shipping. Except they don't have layaway! So DDE for that!

    10. Phew, you guys are fast! But I'm also very slow at responding..

      Animemadie
      - That stinks! Before I moved the mail lady would throw my packages onto the porch which sometimes had pullips in them! :doh Luckily none of my things broke...

DanceCat - I think I'd feel less paranoid through FL and DDE, but probably still paranoid since it will be my first bjd. :sweat And as for the post office, fortunately I live near by in case I miss delivery. I haven't had any problems with the post office since I've moved so I think I'll be okay...hopefully LOL!

Navi - Wow, I love his eyes! :D

AmyAngel - That's true, if anything DDE has more experience handling the orders than I would. And it's nice that they provide a layaway option. I still haven't ruled out ordering from them, especially if it ends up being a better choice for me when time to order. I guess because I'm so new to this and it makes me nervous LOL

    11. DanceCat:haha I'm just plain paranoid XD

Mendo:Well,we have a rottweiler doberman mix (shes actually really sweet) and our old mail man was used to her so he'd ring the door bell and run and just stand near is delivery truck waiting for us to come out and sign for it XD but when we got a new mail man he was like "I don't even know what she looks like and I know she s big." and refused to give us an packages we needed to sign for and just leave us a note.He could have just honked the car and let us know he was there but he just gave us regular mail and just drop off our doll at the mail office. We almost lost one of our dolls that way.

Aqua:UGH! I HATE MAIL MEN LADY WTF EVER THEY ARE WHO DO THAT!!

    12. If it matters, direct from Fairyland is faster, probably by at least 2 weeks, than ordering through DDE. All my DDE orders have been perfect but I know some people have had problems with them. I would use them for Dollzone and other companies hard to order from directly (and I buy clothes and stuff from them with no worries!), but Fairyland's so easy and reliable it's just the layaway option that has me ordering through DDE this time. The savings on shipping aren't enough to make up for the extra time involved, for me.

    13. Animemadie - I know! One time before I got to the door I saw out the window she kicked my package to the door! Then she runs away so fast before I can open the door! :x

AmyAngel - That's good to know thank you. I've ordered Re-ment from them before and had no problem. I think for clothes and wigs I'd defiantly get it through them to avoid leeke other sites fees..

    14. Gr um why is Denver slower....there in our freaking country haha. Now you've got me all paranoid!! Now I'm nervous to order from them! Now I have to go research their "problems"

and guyssss I need consoling...I'm putting one of my beloved pullips up for sale to buy my (unarrived :D) shushu head a body? It's worth it, right? RIGHT? *shakes back and forth wrapped in a blankie sucking her thumb*

    15. Mainly because they have to wait till they have enough to order before placing an order. Usually though when events happen they do have regular orders going out every other week.

I have actually never got anything directly through Fairyland myself... now that I think about it. XD Mainly because I do a lot of layaway. But if you don't need it then Fairyland is probably your way to go. :>

    16. Well, they place orders 2-3 times a month in batches depending on how many orders they have, is my understanding. So I ordered on Sept. 7, and my order went into the Sept. 14 batch - those who ordered closer to Sept. 14 didn't lose as many days there as I did. Then, the dolls have to be shipped from Fairyland to them (looking at maybe a week there); opened, inspected, sorted and repackaged for shipping to the customer (I don't know, but I'd bet at least a day or three there especially for big batches like they're handling now); then shipped to the customer (another 4-7 days possibly). So it HAS to take longer!

    17. err i cant wait to sell my doll so i can get a new one

    18. Didn't mean to make you paranoid Haileebobailee!:sweat I think you'll be fine ordering through DDE or FL.

    19. Wow mendo, this is eye-opening news (no pun intended LOLOLOL)!!! But seriously, I had no idea they had a bad rep like this. Very good to know. I agree with Amy Angel, they are easily taken advantage of because they are American based and thus American language oriented but I had no idea they faltered so terribly. This news saddens me.

On another note, this is my first order from Fairyland. And apart from Demon Garden who no longer sells directly, I'd go so far as to say this my FIRST REAL order from a REAL doll company/manufacturer. I'm not very fearful that I will suffer any screw ups, but there is an undertone there. I don't want to stereotype but Asians often seem hardnatured toward Americans. Like, DG for example, their delivery system screwed up and DG's attitude was that I was on my own. The same happens when dolls are sent with apparent flaws, etc. Most of what I hear is that the companies seem very callous to mistakes, etc. It can be frightening. BUT, I'm learning!!! I AM learning. I'm learning about the different companies and their customer service, their quality, their devotion... And I don't doubt Fairyland, they seem VERY devoted to their customers and in the quality of what they produce.

    20. Yeah...I think my gut feeling is right then..order from FL, LOL!

      bah top page!

    21. Blarhg,I don't know if I want the Lishe or Des.
Which of the two do you guys like?

    22. Between the two I like Des, but I also like Lishe..that's no help haha.

    23. Of those two, I prefer Lishe. But they're both pretty!

    24. Way back on the fabric talk, my Wal-Mart also got rid of all fabric/sewing essentials. >[ And I'm a night owl I loved the 24 hour. xD;

ON subject, I've left feedback for DDE several times... usually, going into the store is fine, when you're picking up little things here and there. But ordering a whole doll to be shipped? @_@ Ai vey. Troubles abound.

Though their Layaway is a very nice option for us poor folk. xD; It's nice to be able to go pick thigns up, then I can check everything there.

    25. That's comforting xP I ordered my Shiwoo through DDE XP he -should- be shipping to them in a week and a half ((I counted from the day they sent the order into FL))

    26. Awesome, which batch was he in? Word from DDE is that the Sept 14 order is shipping to them now (I'm taking that to mean "we'll get it within a week or so" and the Sept. 26 order will be after that.

My Karsh and Breakaway head are in the Sept. 14 batch, so I'm eagerly awaiting an email and for them to invoice me for the last payment so they can ship them on to me!

    27. Oh My, so many posts to read. :sweat
Well, just a tiny update since I keep poofing, I now have two MNF boys. I received a Shiwoo about a couple days ago. Why didn't anyone tell me that they were so darn cute?! ;) I'm becoming addicted :o

    28. Funny,I ordered a pipos baha and a puki puki suagr from DDE and had no problem

    29. AmyAngel - He was in the September 26th batch ^^ so, he -should- ship out byyy... I think the 24th, aka, Thanksgivingish >_>

    30. Hey, AmyAngel, don't forget your sleeping El head, which is sitting on my desk here! ...you will be making the December Raleigh meet, yes?

    31. I haven't forgotten! I'm glad he's safely arrived! I've been informed that I have to play handbells on the 5th for a community concert (unfortunately something I can't skip out on!), so looks like I'm not going to make that one - and I don't think there's a GBO one either. I've been debating whether to have you ship him, or see if it's OK with you to wait until January. I'm leaning heavily toward shipping, though! Hmm... actually, my cousin lives in Raleigh - I wonder if he'd be willing to drop by the meet and pick it up and bring him to me at Christmas? That might cost more in favors than shipping would be, though.

I think his name will be Alexis. He's going to be a longer-term project, though. Jester and Jack (Karsh and Breakaway) are first in line to be completed since they don't require mods and have bodies they can use already here!

    32. I'm really hoping I get my shipping notice next week =3=

    33. alogue, when did you order???

    34. I ordered from DDE on September 16th. :)

    35. I'm in the mood for some spam...how bout extreme poses? Can you do a tiger crawl? :D
      and anything else extreme!

    36. So one month til shipping notice. ... :( I wish it was December!!!!!!! :...(

    37. lol i dunno if i would call a tiger crawl an extreme pose

back from that time i had alister on brodwyn's body lol

    38. When did you order yours?

    39. I've been looking for something really nice to get Scarlett before I put all my savings into the Dollie Jar xD
      and I found this
do you guys think it'll fit? *crosses fingers*

    40. I think so meowmeow,maybe it'll be a lil roomie

    41. November 9th, technically (actually the 6th but it was a weekend and the order went berzerk, had all these wrong items on it and FL said I had to place a new order, so I had to redo it the night of the 9th). :(

    42. Oh lame, :< I really hope you get your notice soon. Same for me >< I really was hoping to get Elise before my birthday :<

    43. I have been lurking about this thread for a while now . . . and now I can post!! I brought home my Shushu today (I'm her second owner but her first owner kept her in pristine condition) and I am in love!! I'm already a Puki addict, so I think I had just start sending Fairyland my paycheques directly.

    44. ooo so I can just take it in a little bit :D YAY!
      thank you!:aheartbea

    45. That's it thread! I just can't keep up with you any more! **dives right in**
Though that'll teach me not to stay away for so long.

Ugh, I wish I hadn't been stupid and said no to keeping my camera with me. I went to the Museum of Nature here in Ottawa today with the local Steampunk Society and brought along Harker (MNF Woosoo boy) with me. I got to chat with a lot of people and educate them on BJDs, and then put Harker in nifty set ups (he got eaten by a T-Rex at one point! :o ). Definitely will need to go back there and do photos again.

This post had no point other than to rant, sorry

    46. Those are so tempting aren't they? I almost did that to get the Breakaway head, and thought I'd better not go nuts, and forgo the head :( I don't know if I made the right choice, but ... that was what I did :P I did get one set of hands (#4 or was it #6? LOL) so.... it really was all I could squeeze for a monthly payment.

You know, the cool thing would be to switch heads depending on what you want the girls to be doing. You know? If she's wearing something like a halter or something that the B-line looks better in, put her on that, and the other on the other body... with both bodies you can use each to it's advantage. You don't want just one body, because then you can't have them pose together, which is so much fun! And you seldom need both to have double jointed knees and elbows, if ever!

Yah, but it sounds like you live in such a cool secluded place full of nature (cold nature, but I'd love it as long as the house was warm :D) And everything sounds kinda old fashioned, so neat!!! (I'd have to learn to drive in the snow though... ugh... wait, ya'all have snowmobiles no?) Cool!

navci, I'm so sorry you're sick! Cool eyes though :D

So far, DDE has been nice for me to deal with, and I really need the layaway options or I couldn't get any dolls :( So... But I have bought directly from Iplehouse because they have a layaway option, which is so nice :) Love Fairyland, even if they don't have layaway, though , LOL

Don't tell me you're talking about your Birthday doll!!!????!!!

I have the DES head, who is getting a non-Fairyland body when my Lishe comes home. Once again, obviously, no help, LOL. Love both :D

      Congratulations :D Angelesk

Haileebobailee, what IS a tiger crawl?? LOL mendokusai I was wondering why Alister was looking like a hot chick?? It was kind of disturbing me, LOL

      spensers_mom
      , congratulations! She is beautiful!

MeowMeow, I'm sure that outfit will fit just fine, I mean it has a tie, that should make it fit perfect, I'd think :D

    47. You have to admit, though, Alister would make an excellent girl. And doesn't Mer call him Alice sometimes? XP

    48. Yes, to tease him, poor boy. He is so sweet! LOL. But I see him as a sweet boy now, and unless she at least changes the hair and glasses, I'll not be able to change my view :P LOL

    49. lol well not THAT secluded, but definitely not in a major city or anything. although i guess compared to what most people are used to maybe it is pretty secluded :/ lol you aren't allowed to ride snowmachines around town cuz of safety hazards. a lot of idiots get themselves hurt :P

rofl his face-up is pretty androgynous hehehehehehe

    50. I got the whole doll and her sleeping head! I'm so excited to receive her. I've got the idea that she will cosplay as Storm!

Thanks, Moni. I promise to spam as much as I can.

That sounds almost exactly like the mail system here. Volunteer carriers and such. Which is why I like to stalk my tracking, so I can tell my husband to be sure he is awake and does not miss the package. I hate it when sellers don't give me the tracking from the package. I'm a nut with the tracking!

Eeep! He looks amazing, and I love the hint of Cheshire in the background!:D

I vote for Lishe. I love her!

      Oh, she's so cute. Congrats!

    51. @DanceCat You know I can see that saving for the doll to be more agonizing especially with all of the road blocks. I think i have said at least 4 times this year I was ready to buy the doll, only to find out that i wasn't ready to buy him :doh This time though is for sure ready to buy!:)

    52. @spensers_mom Ohhhhh she is very pretty, Glad you have her now!!

    53. spensers_mom - Your Shushu is lovely :aheartbea and the light blue fer suits her very well indeed.

divadionne - You are very lucky.:celebrate Remember to post pics when she (or them?) arrives.

    54. IngieBee:Oh,that's a good idea with the body switching! No,I'm talking about selling my B&G.I love my Evee (miyu) too much!Never would I sell her.But ya,like,i don't know if I want to get NS or WS.Because I remember Evee's head kept falling off so we had to use a little glue O___O so I don't know if her head can be switched...

    55. Yes, you had better just start doing that.
I can't imagine how many dolls I'd have if I were still working :?:?:?*_* I think I'm out of control NOW, this is nothing compared to what I'd be if I actually had money!!!!

She's lovely by the way, I love blue and white together, very complimenting. ...."SHUSHU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :aheartbea

    56. I ordered Karsh on the 8th so I am pretty sure he's in that batch coming to DDE right now. :)

I have bought several things outright and on layaway from DDE with no problem. My PKF Shiwoo was a bit of a wait but I can't blame DDE for that. They also bent over backwards to help fix what Elfdoll would not on the Twiggy Yumi that I bought.

Congratulations! She is beautiful and so is the fer! :D

    57. Awesome, Kadepie! I'd love to see a DDE box opening - I know there should be 2 Karshes in the box, and 2 Littlefee Bisous, and some hands, and event heads, and clothes... I imagine it would be pretty cool to see that much Fairyland goodness come in all at once.

    58. I was wondering why a la carte on FL is more expensive than buying the doll whole?
A la carte is 360 and a shushu is 343...

    59. A La Carte gives you the A-line body, if you buy the whole doll listed as the doll you get the B-line body.

    60. Yes - and the A-line body is definitely worth the extra cost, IMO. It's a pretty small price difference for that much improvement in poseability.
