Minifee MNF Discussion thread Part 4

I noticed the other one was getting rather huge, was wondering when we'd get a nice new room! XD

Ginarolo: Random question regarding the picture limit. If we're posting pictures from a set, i understand it makes sense to post only one, but how about if we're showing something specific regarding two different mnf dolls?

 

yay new thread! has anyone hot glue sueded their A line? My A line is sort of like, meh, why are you bothering me. . . okay fine I'll pose.

 

It's so weird to click on this thread, and not click on like "page ____". o.O

Aren't the a-line joints pretty tight? I would think you'd have difficulty sueding them... what about wiring, instead? Would that help?

 

A new thread- wow! I was still trying to make sure I didn't miss anything in the beginning of the last one! LOL

 

the joints are only as tight as the stringing is. I don't think I'll have problems sueding mine. I don't like the way wire feels.

 

I only sueded the chest joint on mine, the rest of the joints didn't seem to need it and the hips especially seemed to very much NOT need it. As in I did one, and it quit functioning entirely, so I peeled it back out, LOL! I usually hot-glue suede everyone, but not Finn. I only wire the single jointed ones usually.

If you are posting some body comparisons shots with lots of photos. Please PM me. We can do a new thread just for that and have people add to it. I also would want to add that link to out first thread of FAQ. We really value comparison
photos. But also want to make it easy for people to search for them.

We are trying to get people used to posting photos in gallery to save work on the servers.

We also want it to be easy to search for photos for future reference.

yes! dreaming soo was a limited put out as a full set during the luts days (only five were made but I imagine you might find one if you were super lucky) and the winking miyu I believe was a special gift if you ordered both miyu and woosoo when they were released (only no one knew about it until people received their dolls along with the gift heads).

 

I'd never heard of those! So I did a poke about DoA... it looks like Dagger is the only one with a Winking Miyu (at least I didn't see any others)... here's a gallery post she made of her. Very cute face!

yeah, definitely! maybe i'll do that with this one, since i probably would be more motivated to paint a winking face than a sleeping one lol considering brodwyn's sleeping face is still sitting blank x_x

I don't know, I don't really like winking face plates. I don't think that they really look like they're winking, just closing one eye. I think that with a wink there is so much else that goes on with a person's face (the cheek is slightly higher on one side of the face, a bit of a cheeky smile). I don't think that the winking Miyu looks like that at all - there is no character to it.

 

hmmm the winking miyu is something different, not sure if I liked it, but it's sure different!

Winking miyu? =O I dont think i heard anything about her! Does anyone have pictures? I can't seem to find any o_O

I'm not sure if I like it either- to me, with the wink, the face no longer looks like Miyu, or maybe it's just the picture angle?

 

kadepie: whoops, i missed that! I think it might be the angles and the faceup. Faceup doesnt look like 'default' miyu, and her lips are painted differently, so she looks different, but she's very pretty anyway ^^

akaStarla: I agree, thers no "wink" to the wink. Its just like the one eye is closed rather than being involved in a full facial expression ^^; (even though, when i try to close just one eye without moving the rest of my face like that, it ends in hilarious failed attempts XD; its really hard! )

 

I had no idea they even existed! But I didn't include the tan dolls, either. When you get into super-limited sculpts like the dreaming Soo, technically you can't do the math the same... there aren't even enough heads made to go on all the girl body options, much less make any of them a boy!

We have officially established that there are over 1100 options for how to build a Minifee, though. That is still hurting my brain, even today!

I am SUCH a sucker for dolls with open mouths, and even more so for dolls with visible teeth... I love dolls with teeth showing, no idea why. Just love them so much. And Miyu is so CUTE.

Hey, mizuno, is that a modified Miyu? Or does that sculpt actually have teeth?

And doesn't Ryeon have a bit of an open mouth, I can't always tell by all the different photos can someone verify yes or no for me? Thanks

 

@ IngieBee Thanks! I love the color for her, it really fits her character (she has the aesthetic preference of a 13-15 year old who can't make up her mind). I just need to make them a little shorter since they're actually holding her hair back at the moment. Now that I'm awake, I think I shall do that.

I also touched up her eyebrows with some acrylic, but until I get a brush with just one hair on it, or figure out a different method for how to make those tiny lash hairs on a minifee, she's stuck with the slightly blocky brows.

Ryeon does have a slightly open mouth. No teeth, but slightly open. I have her, she's beautiful...

 

Winking Miyu is a cute idea and I love the teeth but I agree that it doesn't really look like a wink. It really just looks like she has one eye closed.

 

Or just remind eachother nicely :P (we don't need big brother constantly ;P) The last thread was threatening to become unfriendly already I like friendly

Be careful, it can look too blunt. If you trim them, you have to 'feather" the edges, this takes a lot of time and patience. You don't want a blunt cut. You'll have to make each lash a different length, just be careful!

It's definately in the angel, this picture really makes her look Mischievous

It just takes practice. I can do it with either eye no problem, to the point that I generally refuse the little sight blocker thingy at the optometrist's office. Of course, I can also cross just one eye... Maybe I'm just odd.

On the 12,564* MNF possibilities: Wouldn't you technically only need enough different colors to paint the nails of the females? You could duplicate part of them for the males. I really don't think anyone could say "Oh, this one's wearing lime green on their toes.. Is it Suzette or Charles?"

*I don't think that's the right number, btw.. It isn't evenly divisible by the number of body choices (11).

and lol I think the problem is that you'll think "was her name suzette or sarah?" lol
becase anyways you'll be able to tell which one's which (different skintone, different body... etc) but without remembring the names XD
