Minifee MNF Discussion thread Part 2

question to who owns a mnf with default face-up, is it ok to wash the head with water? or will that damage the face-up? or in other words, how well are the face-ups sealed?

and, what's the best way to clean the body? it's not very dirty but it has like grey spots some places like on her neck maybe caused by my fingers, so how can I remove that? with water?

 

I think water should be fine. It's never done anything to my dolls. Just as long as you don't get the stringing inside wet, or scrub them too hard.

 

Bluoxyde He will get l face up soon that's if l have the money at the end of the month. Right now he wants a pair of pants and shoes.

Love the wig. Love the outfit. Love the doll. I cannot believe there is not more Eliya spam.

 

I use a damp Magic Eraser to clean the body, it takes off everything. Which means you do NOT want to use it on a face, sealant or not. I have heard a dry Magic Eraser works really well for the face, but I just use a clean make-up brush I bought just for the dolls to lightly go over the faces to remove any loose dust or dirt. I have not had anything yet that did not take care of.

Hopefully soon (this week probably)! I also payed off her body (which will be a bobobie for now) so she should soon be complete.
She's a shapeshifter (she will mainly wear deer antlers and ram horns) and she was marked for that so she couldn't trick people anymore

 

I have a ShuShu and MNF El, but I haven't' gotten any pictures of him yet. And Juliette (my shushu) is out for new face up and body blushing with Mel-Mel-Chan right now. But I took this picture of her in DC over Christmas. It's my fave one I've taken of her so I'll share it.



My next doll is going to either be a lishe, or a woosoo girl I haven't decided yet. Dose anyone own the vampire elf woosoo girl?

 

I've used DRY magic eraser to remove smudges on the face (one of my girls was dropped at a meetup >_>), and it didn't harm the faceup. I'm super paranoid and slow about it, though.

For the body, wet magic eraser gets most everything, and if it's REALLY in there soaking the sponge in Windsor & Newton brush cleaner before using it gets everything else, just don't use it anywhere that has paint you want to keep (faceup, tatoos, blushing).

Diana, thank you, thank you! I've been wanting to see a good comparison of the MNF legs. It doesn't look like there's that much difference between them other than the model legs are slimmer front to back. Do the different legs affect balance any? It would seem to me that it would, a bit - different weight distribution and all.

I'm still rather put out at the leeke shoes not fitting. >_< I figured the M size shoes would fit better then that, they say 5.4cm on the website. (At least, I'm assuming that is what size was meant by "MSD size") I'm pretty sure that the D size would be to small, at 4.5cm.. Well, on the plus side, the shoes Mina is pestering me for are boots, so we should be alright. These, to be specific. Won't be able to get them for quite a while though, I'm having some financial problems at the moment.

I really need to borrow a camera to take some pics, but I always forget to ask the not-in-laws. ^^;;

but I think that the stringing on Miyu were done better than Eliya, the way she move her joints annoy me, it's not because they are cutie legs, I mean Luka's stringing is as good as Miyu...

Diana92, Over here in the States I can buy Magic Erasers at Wal*Mart (doom!) or Dollar General stores and things like that. You should be able to find it with no problem on Amazon or someplace like that though ^^

I use this kind, I think. You want just the plain Magic Eraser - if it says anything about foaming or scent it's not the one you need. There may be something similar where you are in the cleaning products area of stores - it's just a melamine sponge. It's a gentle abrasive, cleans very well with just water, will take off faceups quickly wet with Winsor & Newton brush cleaner!

I have before washed a Bobobie head with the default faceup with dish soap on a soft cloth rinsing it under running water, and it did no damage to the faceup. I only did that because I was enhancing the faceup and didn't really care if I ended up having to wipe it and start from scratch, though. I think a damp soft cloth should be safe for any sealed faceups, though I'd blow off any dust/dirt before wiping to try and avoid scratches.

 

Diana92, I use the same type as AmyAngel. ^^ Clearly great doll collectors think alike! ...okay, lame and cheezy...

 

Natural Skin. I have only gotten one doll in BW and it just did not appeal to me. It looks "too doll" if that makes any sense. I have seen some beautiful BW dolls though, but I love the NS.

And the full set is now sold out on the Fairyland website. Glad I got her when I did!

 

Wigs are size 7-8, correct?

BanSidhe, that's the size that I use for my mnfs, but I think it varies depends on the company, leeke and fairyland and tinybear(tell her 7-8 for mnf) are great, but dollmore are big, however they do fit bubble-head miyu XD

Diana92 so for the tiny bear wigs you just tell her 7-8?? i was kinda confused about what size i'd have to tell her if i did eventually order a wig from there :\

because I think they are more into 7 than 8 (however the wigs that she made me aren't all exactly the same, as some hardly fit my Miyu) ;p it actually varries from mnf to another, Eliya has a kinda small head, Miyu's head is huge XD Ryeon is kinda in between... anyway I buy 7-8 wigs for my girls.
ummmm I'm not sure about other dolls, but I heard woosoo(s) can fit in the 6-6.5 ones.

I've got a question about it. The body with the cutie legs is taller and have got the feet more large than the body with model legs?

And I'm searching photos of cutie bust, but in the forum only found one shushu with this bust size. Anyone have got more photos? Specially in front view.

Diana, your photos have helped me make up my mind about the cutie bust/model legs combo. It definitely makes them look younger! I know that Lyrics has them, but I will have to get a body like that for my Miyu girl. It would be perfect for the look I want her to have.

 

Dynamene, they are the same hight, but I could be wrong because total hight depends on many joints (knee, waist, bust...) also when I change one of those joints the shoulders get higher/lower which gonna make the doll look taller/shorter than the one next to it, hope I'm making sense XD

Pretty faceup! I feel like I've seen an anime character, or a girl from a fantasy art book with a similar theme (in look, not in reason, I think I like your reason better ^_^), but I can't place from where. Weird deja vu...

Next minifee I get will probably be a girl again, and not for another year unless my ability to get a job picks up, and will have to have the cutie bust. Right now, I can't join in on spamming. My camera broke, so unless I use my camcorder (which is kinda iffy for stills) I have to wait until my boyfriend brings his for me to borrow. Which'll be cool until he manages to get his SLR and then I'll want to borrow that all the time XD

The Miyu sculpt keeps growing on me with everyone's pics, I loved the Delf Miyu, but was kinda iffy on the minifee Miyu. She always looks like one of the older (pre-60's?) divas to me.

 

Diana92 thanks fer that, i am now unconfused, but do you think it would be helpful if i wrote the head mold down aswell, seeing as i've hear the newer mnf heads are smaller??? anyways, Lyric is so cute :3 i love that outfit, especially her dress^^

 

Eudoxia, well, it does matter whcich one you've got, but Tinybear don't own all mnfs, if any, so writing down the head mold won't help, but if you care so much about getting it EXACT take the measurements yourself or from anyone that owns the same doll as you and write that to her, but it doesn't matter that much, it's kinda stretchy, and she sent with my wigs a paper with instruction on how to make the wig exactly the right size (with water and plastic bags and stuff XD) but since I don't use them for a certain doll I didn't do that, but it sounds easy to do.
true, luka's head is smaller than Ryeon's.
and, thank you I made it! tho it's really messy and had to correct many things in it XD


edit, maybe you can tell her you want a size 7 wig? because woosoo's have small heads.

 

Yay, more Miyu love! The mold is really growing on me. Hopefully, I can see one in real life someday and see how they look against my Rheia.

well, she'll be first "introduced" with the photostory i'm working on now... mentioned, at least. once fairyland ships her new body... then she'll make an actual appearance. along with another new character (mnf seorin) but i ordered them separately (a week apart) i'm hoping sparrow's body will ship next week and hopefully the seorin will follow shortly after.

I was changing my girls when I noticed that Élodie's (mnf Miyu) faceup is a bit chipped under her eyebrow!!! I have no monies so I can't send her off to get it done and I'm not artistic myself. The temporary solution is to switch the part in her hair so the hair covers the chip. But it makes me sad... Serves me right for abandoning them for a while.

Aww, chipped-face ups are so annoying. My girl faceplants so much that she has no sealant on the tip of her nose anymore. Doesn't really help her that carl's have longer noses then the others, it seems. And she's got a few tiny spots around her face.

I'm going to try to give her a new one at the local maintenance meet at the end of July.
If it's just the sealant could you potentially put a little bit of sealant in a paper cup, dip a Q tip to gather just a tiny bit and touch up? Anyone want to debunk or affirm that idea?

And now I'm wondering, which Minifee has the longest nose? My carl has a really long nose, but the DES that came with her has this tiny little triangle of a nose.

Time for Élodie spam. Just to show her chipped faceup and the temporary solution! I actually prefer the part in her hair this side. And the photos are actually quite good because I found my camera lead But hey, we don't need an excuse for Miyu spam!!

The problem with your touch up idea is that it may not blend. If you want to experiment, what I would do is to mask the rest of the face (just put paper towels or rags over it, with the doll's head laying down of course, then spray, lightly, on the spot. It may work.

Perhaps I will try this with one of my blank heads one day. Aidara I just want to get painted and settled.
I'm finally starting to get some of her personality worked out better. She's always seemed to have a quiet, mellowdramatic character, but I've had a rough time figuring out much beyond that. I'm thinking she's a writer of sorts.

 

Just got back my Juri head and she's more stunning than on the photos No pictures yet though, because she doesn't have her eyes yet and her body should be send out upcomming monday or tuesday, so i'll take pics once shes complete

LOL yeah i dunno who has the longest nose, but shiwoo definitely up there! i always laugh whenever i pose gabe and meryll to kiss because she has this adorable little button nose, and his is so long haha
