Migidoll Ryu Hybrid Box Opening + photshoot!

My Doll Family body finally came in today so I was able to put my boy together and take some photos!! SO excited about how he turned out, the resin match is almost perfect, I love him to death! Please enjoy the pictures!

This body is a DF-H 62cm Boy Body-3!
I wanted a shorter and more slim body with a lower price tag, and found this body to be a good fit ( really like the streamlined sculpting). I know how hard it is to find a good resin match with Migidoll head for smaller boy bodies!! I actually had to take a gamble with this one, i'm glad it payed off! The neck needs no adjustment it attaches right out of the box, stands and poses very well, and the resin is the yellow skin for the body. Also, I don't know if the resin match will be the same for older migidoll heads, I got Ryu this year so he is fairly new.
To make the deal sweeter, I got the body off Alice's Collection, right now they have DF-H bodies 10% off and they throw in a FREE pair of jointed hands! The hands are beautiful even though I haven't taken pictures!
I hope this helped! If you want a taller boy, from what I've read, the popodoll body also has a great resin match!

I actually pushed my luck ordering this body but AC worked out a plan for me
And I really love the Cho head as well, I noticed he was on sale but alas, my wallet has been sucked dry, Black Friday and all.
Just wanted to let you know Granado dolls new normal is also a perfect match for Migidoll normal skin (check out the DOA Granado webpage) I'm working on that hybrid as well, so if you like their stylized bodies that's another route to go. I crossed my fingers and all my toes hoping the resin match would be okay, who knew it would be almost identical! I hope I have this much luck with all my other in progress hybrids, I'm so happy you like him ^__^

 

Oh DEAR lord I cannot handle the macho hotness of Granado bodies lol!! But I got a head from their planet series re-release and I'm trying to get it on a migidoll body. I know, very strange, you would think I would match the Migi head with the Migi body, but my mind is crazy and I have this insistent thought in my head about that hybrid.
I think my ryu character is younger, which is why I wanted him to be shorter, a towering young adult next to an actual adult would look pretty silly, at least to me. Plus, as you said, I felt like the aesthetics of the migidoll body didn't suit the migi head.

Enough of my blabbering, I wanted to say, DON'T GIVE UP!!! If you really want that SD save up every penny and get him! Don't let money or fear ever stop you from pursuing something that gives you happiness! I also wanted to give up a few times because I'm still new and my dolls do intimidate me, but I'm so glad I kept going because now I just adore all my dolls and I have no regrets!
I will admit hybrids are more work, but they also bring the greatest satisfaction when it works out, I am cheering for you!!

 

Thank you! I had the same thoughts, I really wanted a mirodoll body both for the price range and height, but in the end it just has a bit too much bulk for my character. I saw some pictures on Flickr and found the mirodoll body to be a pretty good match, and the company also offers resin matching for a fee so you can also opt for that

Yipee! So glad this post and my pictures helped you! How exciting, I can't wait to see more people jump on this hybrid wagon! But I have to warn you, this body is waaaay shorter then the popodol 68cm body everyone seems to plop their migi heads on. As said before, this body is at a short 63cm (very tiny among the macho towering bjds's being pumped out now a days) and I only mention this because you intended to get that poppdoll body.

I don't mind at all, I LOVE that there is "another" out there! I adore the body, and I also noticed a slight bobble headed look but it hardly bothers me, in fact I find it more endearing, I found ryu's sculpt on taller guys a bit too much, so I like his slightly youthful goofy look haha. I also figured it was only because of his darned giant forehead, the face itself looks very nice with the rest of the body. I'm thinking for newer sculpts with smaller faces, the body would balance out even better!
I am totally going to rifle through all your ryu pics now LOL so interesting to see what people do with him! I am really liking the chain mail outfit you have on for your boy!

 

Wow!!! I had the same thoughts, I never thought I would get a Ryu but I noticed I really liked him in EVERY owner pic I've seen! He just has that perfectly boyish charm! I think the final nail in the coffin was when migidoll said they would discontinue him, I couldn't hold him off any longer haha, glad I didn't! Hes my favorite as of now, but that could change when the Christmas dolls come in LOL.
I honestly think the rein match looks pretty good in the picture you have, but if the match really bothers you, maybe you could dye the head? (I haven't done it yet but I intend to for one doll or another) The face up can actually stay even as you dye the head, there is a video on youtube of a bjd owner dyeing her centaur with the faceup still intact! I had the same problem with a merry head who was EONS pinker then the body I got her, it was devastating since the body and head look very cute together. Alas, tis the woes of a hybrid collector.
What is your Ryu like anyway? I couldn't find your doll profile of him and I was curious about his character!

 

Yes, I was so shocked when I saw their update!!! Ryu has already been discontinued and they are going to stop making Miho as well (I actually like him too but I cant afford him right now). I was so sad, but it was a much needed push to get his head in this year.
Wow your character is fascinating, I think it suits him really well, I really see it especially with the way you've dressed him! Would love to see some action shots with a sword!
That's so funny about the doll profiles, I joined recently so i'm already wired that way LOL I think its a great way to get to know all the dolls owners have in an organized fashion. But I haven't even gotten around to doing most of my dolls, I've got the one uploaded as of now. I could be one of laziest owners out there xD takes me a couple of months just to put the dolls together for a photo or two haha!
