i am so happy!!! I managed to get a Fang head - my list of "oh I really wish I had that doll" is getting shorter!!! Now I need a body for her (any suggestions?) and think about if I want to remove her current face-up....

Had you considerd getting an actual Merry Doll Round body for her, or are you looking for a different style one?

I have (modded) Luts Delf body for my Merry head.

So, my doll acquisitions are always a little bit down to chance. I have my "wish list" of sculpts (mostly older) that I slowly try to get my grabby paws on.... I will first of all try the head on the different bodies that I have and see if any combination speaks to me. If not - I will have to figure out what I want for her! I have old female and male DELF bodies, so I can give that a try. (colour matching will be an issue - they are old!!!) I will let you know how I get on!

 

Getting by. Last summer's heart attack was a bit of a shock (especially since I didn't notice i'd had it!) but fine other than that.

How about you?

Mine started out a reasonable match, then the head greened, and the body yellowed.... I gave tghem a polident bath and the body came out beautifully de-yellowed, the head de-greened but all the red tone had gone so it was a sort of putty colour. I've just finished dying thjem back to a better match and now need to send th head off for a faceup.

That's the other thing, I am not very fond of the current face up, but can not really decide what I would like for her. I have had too much to do and don't really have the headspace for creativity. I will have to start looking at more doll pictures to get the inspiration going.

 

You'll get to it eventually. I wouldn't rush into it or you might end up with another face up you'r not fond of.

Advice for finding a good match for 2015 Olathe head in Strawberry? Tried to compare her to my FL girl in NS but not quite there, though looks perfect in pictures somehow. Thank you

An update from me - My poor faded/greened Merry head, having been given a denture-cleaner treatment that dealt with the greening, and gone through several attempts to dye some colour back into her, is now a close-enough match to her modded Luts Delf body, and has been sent off for a new face up. I just got confimation the other day that he box of heads I sent have arrived, but it's going to be a while before they''re done and sent back to me, and doing a faceup on a dyed head is experimental ground for the artist so I'm prepared for it not to work if there are issues.

But after nearly two years of faffing and dye attempts on my part, she's finally out of my hands and with someone else for the next part of restoration process.

I'm looking forward to gettign her home and reuniting her with her siblings and cousins. She looks a bit different from her old self but as far as backstory goes, she's had a serious illnes (she looked like a zombie - that's pretty severe) and been away for a long rest-cure with plenty of fresh-air and sunlight at a Swiss sanitorium (and come back tanned).

She has a travel compainion for her journey, as I sent another head to Jay at the same time (yet another RML R-01 to feed my obsession with that sculpt), so I'll also have another doll to put together and get to know.

Hi y'all! Been lovely looking at all the dolls! They're so adorable

I saw the Fang preorder and I've been tempted, but the price for the body's a bit much for me, and so I've been exploring hybrid options. Does anyone know what resin colors might match MDR's Milk Chocolate? I've got my fingers crossed for something at least close to it in the high 40/low 50cm range, but I'm not holding out for miracles.

 

I've been admiring them on Instagram.

I'm loving that body so have added it to my list for future hybrids since it's so hard to find non-busty bodies in that size and nearly all of my dolls are children.

I'm really bummed that only the new smaller head is available - even after 4 elbow surgeries I just can't bring myself to like/want smaller dolls, and I've pined after a Fang for years now. . .

yes, but it's not pressing. I'm still working on being able to heft my bigger dolls ("bigger" = anything heavier than my 2+lb guinea pig)

Good luck building up to the bigger dolls. Perhaps a Fang will be available for you by that point.

I was in the same position, I have been looking at Fang for a long time and couldn’t resist her this time around, but the whole doll was sadly outside of my current affordability range. I am also hoping to hybrid her - currently looking at Supiadoll or possibly Doll Family-H. The former has a nice range of resin tones and their heads fall within the smaller SD range, so I am hoping the proportions would work, and I think the latter does resin matching. Both are good for body posing, which is a must for me. But I am going to wait until my head arrives to see what the colour is like in person before choosing. I can handle a doll around 60cm, anything more than that is too cumbersome for me to handle.

 

I've just made arrangements for the 58cm Doll Family H body for my Fang (acquired second-hand, I don't recall her resin color; it's on her cert but that's somewhere in my closet. She's a nicely mellowed ns in tone, presently. She also came with a lovely faceup that I'm loath to wipe, even if she's mellowed and could use a freshening-up. I'll see how I feel once the body arrives. If it's very close, she might stay as-is for a little while, but if sending her for faceup/blushing all in one seems good I might do it sooner.

I'll return and write about the fit (her head with the DF-H body). It should be good, only 2 millimeters bigger than the Merry Doll Round body. I missed the original ordering period for her with the Petrichor body (would've ordered her in Cookie resin), but I adore her in any of her available resin tones.

I hope I'm not doing the wrong thing starting this, but I searched for a current MerryDollRound thread and only found two dead ones (no way to add new posts). But I wanted fans of Nuria's beautiful work to be aware of the current preorder for Fang in Cookie skin.

Nuria had to cancel the Chocolate skin option because of not receiving enough orders for the minimum, so I really hope she can receive a few more for Cookie Fang. Her work is so unique and lovely and I hate for her to be discouraged.

I hope that this can be the new active MDR thread and that others can post photos of their dolls here. I'd love to see more photos of Zuri, Ophelia, and Olathe. I have an Olathe head that I can share as soon as I get her a body and take some nice photos!

 

Thanks for the heads-up about the Chocolate skin. Personally, I haven't been checking Instagram much, so I didn't see that. Looking at it now, it sounds like Cookie may not be offered again in the future. I was trying to avoid buying dolls on layaway, but I'd hate to lose out on this colour...

 

I'm glad you have a chance to at least think about it before the preorder closes! The only reason why I haven't purchased a Fang myself is that I'm holding out for the smaller 1/4 dolls Nuria has been working on (I've been looking for the right 1/4 doll for my collection for years, and it's been an expensive year for me in terms of medical bills so I can't afford both of them).

But yes, this might be the last chance for Fang in this color (or at all), so it's definitely something to think about!

 

The 1/4s are exciting! I hope you're able to get one when they do release. I may have to buy just the Fang head for now and hope for another release of the body in Cookie or that another suitable body will come along.

On that note, does anyone know a good match for Cookie? Luts Light Tan looks pretty close to me but I'm not sure how much I trust my monitor lol.

I had to settle for just a Fang head in cookie resin from the last preorder, so I’m also looking for a good match for it (if anyone has a good hybrid body recommendation for the new, smaller Fang head I’d also appreciate it).

 

OK, so I have a conundrum matching up a Merry head. I bought a lovely older MDR body for her, but it's a Dollshe casted early one (according to MDR on Instagram, who has been lovely and helpful!), so the resin match is way off.


Does anyone have any advice about what might match my Merry head? I've looked at the options MDR suggested but I really don't like the bodies, so was wondering about something like Dollstown Oriental or Copper Oriental, as the tone is quite peachy..?

@Alice80 - Did MDR suggest the Maskcatdoll bodies? I have my Olathe on their 57cm body. Personally, I'd prefer something a little smaller for her, but I think Merry is a larger head and also you might have different preferences.

The Maskcatdoll body is gorgeous - poses very well and has beautifully detailed hands and feet (and the collar bones are lovely). I purchased a pair of feet in their tan color (just to have as a reference) and it is pretty close to Dollshe's/Dollstown's old Copper Oriental (before it got pinker). I can take a photo for you if you'd like to see it!

And speaking of Olathe, here's a photo of her. I dressed her to cover the neck and body since she's on one of my Maskcat bodies (the NS one). The hands are Bimong's 1/3 size jointed hands in "New Tan" - they don't match exactly, but it's close enough for me. The typewriter is an American Girl doll accessory and the dress is from Psycholab (or Melody-C - one of those!).

I'm so excited, I have a Fang head in strawberry on the way to me! I've wanted a Fang for so long and it was finally the right time and place! Anyone have suggestions for bodies to hybrid with her?

 

Congratulations @Captainnessbot! Fang is such a beautiful sculpt. What kind of height do you have in mind for your Fang? As I mentioned above, I'd like to put my Olathe on a slightly shorter body, but it's a bit hard to find nice bodies shorter than 57-60cm that are not just tall 1/4 size dolls.

 

I only have one SD, an Impldoll Star, so I don't have a good idea of size for SD dolls. I'm mainly concerned right now about what would be a good fit color and neck-wise, and I can narrow down my options from there.

 

Does anyone know of somwhere that shows Merrydollround resin colours compared with other companies?

I'm particularly interested in seeing close(ish) matches for Cookie.

Hello all! I have just acquired a Berry in Strawberry skin and a Tsubaki in Strawberry skin and I would love to know if anyone has hybridized this skin color successfully? I was thinking I might try the Supia 60cm body since it was a pinky normal, but other ideas would be awesome!

I also have quite a few dolls at home that I can try out for people if there is an interest, just check out the list on my profile page and let me know

 

I have a fairly old Strawberry Zuri—I could compare her to old supia normal, which I think is what they’re calling Beige now. If you see any other resin colours on my profile you’d like a comparison with, please feel free to let me know, and I’ll put it in the picture!

My cookie Berry head hasn't arrived yet, but she'll need a body at some point and I've never seen the colour in person so have no idea whether it's close to any other company's colour (DollsTown copper oriental, perhaps...?...)

longshot, but is there anyone out there who owns both original fang And the newer fang? I know the MDR site has a comparison of the heads on the new body but I'm really curious if anyone has both dolls to compare

 

It's been a while since you posted this so maybe you've found something by now, but I did see a post on Instagram (I can't pull it up right now) that showed a Fang head in Cookie on a Maskcat body in Tan, and it looked quite good. I'm gravitating towards that for my Fang, personally.

I do like the Muskcat 57cm body as it has the small bust and lack of curves I'm looking for.
