Maya almost finished! Blue Maya pics added.(NUDITY)

Aug 24, 2006

    1. OOps!! double post. sorry.

    2. I love seeing the pics of what you all have done :) Thanks for sharing them with us. I hope others will add theirs too (hint, hint).

Baakay ... I think your face-up looks lovely .. love the soft lips and the blue eyeshadow.

      CAJewel,
What a cheeky miss she is!!!

    3. oh, CAJewel, she's amaaaaaazing!

but, Kaye, you are a mistress of talent!

    4. Thank You! She is only my 4th face up so I am still learning but she is a dream to work on. The lips....don't get me started... so adorable.

Thanks again to Kaye for making us such an amazing girl :)

    5. Hi Kaye, this is Kay... :P (yes, I'm a moron, I just love doing that... my poor hubby also has a Kay as his boss and a Kay who was his doctoral advisor..*_* )

      Anyway, THANK YOU! :aheartbea

I am going to re-do her, although as close to the original as possible. On closer inspection in better light I could see that there are several places I didn't do as well as I'd like... Interestingly enough, though, the eyebrows really don't look high at all when she's wigless! However, the impending real eyelashes are a good excuse to lower them by maybe a centimeter or so. She'll look a little less deer-in-the-headlights ;)

    6. Hi Kay .. I knew it was you LOL.
Maya's head isn't as big at the back as some dolls so maybe that's why the wig comes forward more than usual. She will look different with eyelashes too.
      Have fun with her.

    7. Each additional head you scuplt is jaw-dropping. I'm still in awe over the Matilda I saw - her body and face are so well done. It's too bad you are having such a reaction to the resin. :(

    8. This is really really amazing! Not only youre good at scuplting but your face-up is excellent. I love watching people make their own ball jointed doll. Whereabout are you in Australia? I'm a sydney-sider ^^

    9. Thanks. I'm up near Tamworth :)

    10. Hi All,
Thought you might like to see pics of my blue girl.

I think I will forget the mermaid idea and make her a blue fairy instead.
Sorry the pics are a little dark .. I'll be taking better ones when I get her dressed.

    11. Your dolls are just breathtaking! :o And just when I think they can't get any better, you bring out an even nicer one. LOL.

      Gorgeous!

    12. Wow. She's a lovely sculpt to start with, but that frosty blue/pink shading is really remarkable.

    13. Damnit all Kaye, if you haven't posted that gorgeous blue girl to me, she won't be here in time for my birthday tomorrow!! (JUST KIDDING!!)

Seriously, do you have a timetable for putting her on ebay?? I will have to have a few days to arrange the funds for her, but I am determined to have her

      Seek peace

      Carol

    14. Hi Carol,
I was planning on putting her on ebay by this weekend.
      And I'll take layaway ;)
BTW, happy birthday for tomorrow .. IF it really is your birthday?

    15. I *NEED* that blue (faerie) Maya with all my might! :nosebleed

I'm modd'ing a Chiwoo into a Brian Froud pixie and would look *perfect* beside him... She's SO perfect, Kaye! You outdone yourself!!

Carol ~ There will be a fight. Sorry. :mwahaha

    16. Oh, she looks very ethereal.....
Good luck to who wins her....:)

    17. The blue girl is lovely, Kaye. I want you to know that I loaded my dolls up and drove from Fargo to Minneapolis (about 4 hours) to go to a doll meet. Of course my Mattie was the only Matilda present, and many people oohed and ahhed over her, admiring her beautiful faceup and blushing, her unusual look, and her gorgeous resin. I even took her shoes off so her admirers could see her adorable feet.

    18. I have this image of us Blue Maya lovers standing over the ebay "bid now" with baited breath. (I think there is going to be a fight!)

Blue Maya is going to make me (attempt) to break my "no more dolls this year" promise. (She's worth it though!)

*edited to add* I've been bringing my Matlida to various cons and events where I sell my buttons and she never fails to get a reaction. My other dolls always got attention too, but everyone wants to touch my Jessie. She gets her hand shaken a lot, lol. And she stands like a champ!

One day I had posed her standing next to my dispaly board to take a picture and then got busy with customers. My table gets jostled A LOT, and about midway through the day I usually have to push it forward to line up with the table on either side of me. So after I'd pushed the table forward I realised that Jessie was still standing, unaided by my display board. No only hadn't she fallen over as everyone was jostling the table, she's remained upright as I pushed the table back in place!

    19. Wow.

      Just.... wow. Blue Maya.

Now... I know better than to even attempt to snatch her. But what I want to know is this: how can I twist your arm to do a blue-skinned BOY? :D with lonnnng elf ears?!

      *sigh*

      Gosh she's lovely.

    20. Thanks everyone ... I'm so pleased you like her .. I was a bit worried about casting a blue doll but I'm happy I did.

Merrow .. I'm glad Matilda stood up to all the traffic and jostling LOL.

Baakay .. you never know what might be next after my mini gill is done!!

everyone else .. thanks so much .. I probably would never have persevered with making the dolls if it wasn't for your encouragement :)

    21. drat - I am travelling at the moment, *note to self, NEVER go over Mt Hotham by road again* so I will probably miss out on her

And yes.. I was born on all hallows - happy birthday to me! 42 today, and I expect to receive the answer to the great question any minute now ;>

Oh, and Kaye, your website isn't coming up for me *cries*

      Seek peace

      Carol

    22. Ooohh, have you got a link to your website Kaye?

    23. Awwww ... HAPPY 42nd Carol :)

Sorry ... my website is down at the moment .. my daughter is redesigning it so I will have dollfies on there too :)

I'll post a message when it's up again.

    24. Your blue girl is amazing! *jaw drops* Just the sheer detail you put into you girls is astounding and your anatomy is much more realistic than many other dolls her size. *very impressed* Can't wait to see the auction!

    25. Ok .. my apologies to those waiting to see my blue Maya on ebay .. she has been delayed!! I can't find shoes I like on her so I have decided to make those myself and I'm still not happy with her wig so, I won't sell her until I am completely happy with how she looks. Yes, I am a fuss pot!!

    26. *dances around like crazy*

I don't mind the wait at all!!! more time for me to figure out how to bribe hubby lol!

I will be home Sunday morning for 10 days, then I am off into the wild outback again.. if I can figure out how to get to Tamworth from Leeton, (and to Ipswich from tamworth) I will drop in and scare you lol!

      Seek peace

      Carol

    27. LOL Carol,
Would be REALLY great to see you :) but give me warning OK ... I will need to clean my messy house LOL.

    28. Blue Maya reminds me of Emily...

    29. She looks awesome Kaye :)

    30. My clever daughter has my website up .. it's a work in progress so constructive criticism is greatfully accepted .. anything we have forgotten to add etc just let me know :) I'm not too good at writing stuff so it's fairly basic!
      http://www.kazekidz.com

    31. Ahhh! So many lovely pics of your Matilda and Maya!! I had to look at them all! :) :)

    32. OMG.. I love your dolls! How much do they usually sell for? And how tall are they?

      Soooo pretty.

    33. Maya and Matilda are 55cm tall. They are more slender and youthful than most of the SD size girls.

Matilda sold for $550 (I think!!? ... my memory is shot!!) and is sold out.
I initially sold Maya as just the head but I've discovered that my resin is very different from the factory resins and those who bought the heads are having problems finding a body for her :( sooooo, I am going to make bodies for the remaining heads I have and sell the dolls on ebay as I complete them.
At the moment I can't take orders because I have an allergy to the resin so I am trying to limit my exposure to it by working slowly!

    34. ooooooo

Are you going to maybe make extra bodies for those of us who bought heads to purchase? :D ;D :D

Not that I don't like the Belita body that Kaoru is on, but it somehow doesn't do her justice. Especially with those great honking feet. A taller but slimmer body would be so nice... :)

what a shame to have gotten that allergy. Had you thought about maybe getting someone to do your casting for you? (She says, speaking as though she has a clue in the world how it goes... :sweat )

    35. Hi Kay,
I'm trying to find someone in Australia who can cast for me but not having much luck so far!!

Re the extra bodies .. I'll pm you.
I'm trying to figure out what to do about that as my molds are getting fairly worn so don't think I will get many more casts out of them. I have started molding the pieces again but I found they have shrunk in the molding process so I don't think the "new" body will be compatable size wise .. I'm so new to resin that it's all a learning process for me!!

    36. kaye your website is not working. I'm also trying to find a casting company in Autralia but most are ridiculously expensive, for example, I asked them to cast a head and they are charging me $330 for each cast!!! Its like if I'm selling them its not even going to go for that much LOL. I let you know if I find a cheaper one.

Looking forward to seeing your finished Maya, she is looking gorgeous so far! :aheartbea

    37. oooh, Maya is coming along so nicely!!!! can't wait to see her finally finished

    38. Ohh lord your Blue Fairy is just pure love!
And I am just nuts about your new mature bust, finally someone who looks like she isnt filled with saline/silicon!
I know you might get asked this alot, but I looked around and couldnt find an answer. Sorry in advance!
Are you ever planning to do any msd or tiny sized dolls?

Also, about your resin allergy.. Have you tried taking an antihestamine (sp??) befored handling? I have an allergy to just about everything, and if I know I will have to handle something I am allergic to, I take some antihestamine pills and it does the trick!

I adore your work and I am detirmined to have at least one piece of your art in my collection one day! *hopefully soon*

      *jen

    39. Dreamegg: Sorry the website is down already .. we are having a few problems :( My daughter is working on it again and hopefully it will be up again soon.
Re resin casting: Yes, that's what I'm finding .. they charge more to cast then I can sell the dolls for :( Guess it means I just keep doing it myself .. ever so slowly :(

      Toxic*Resin: Thanks :)

Sumomo123: I'm planning a mini and a tiny sometime after Christmas, I already have the rough sculpting done so just have to refine the pieces and make the molds. As for the antihistamine .. I can not take it because I have a heart condition and the antihistamine makes it worse :(

    40. is her resin blue or is she blushed that way? It'd be cool if she was blue more than "skin deep" <33

NVM, your website answered my question. Awesome girl!! I'd totally go for her in a second, especially after I've seen one of your dolls in person. (saw one at a meet-up with her very happy owner)

    41. oooh if youre making a tiny, can you make mouse ears for it? (or maybe even an entire head! i wish lolol) :) i wants a ratty-doll >.<

    42. I saw a Kaye doll in person just yesterday - rattimoth's Matilda. Completely awesome. Lovely to hold and pose. Stands on carpet first time I'm told. I'm sure Maya is the same!

Kaye, your daughter has done a great job with the site. It's simple and clear, looks good on more than just Internet Explorer, and has those little text links at the bottom for people who can't see images to click on. I am a web designer myself so an A-OK from me must be worth something!! :) :)

      Best,

      Judy

    43. Thanks Judy .. I'll tell my daughter .. she will be thrilled :)

Chuuie: now that's something to think about ... I love little mice ;)

    44. me too-hence my name is chuu >.< and it would be an adorable companion for catsy and mau, wouldnt it? :D

    45. The one that you cast for me (I had asked for a match to CP as close as possible) matches Elfdoll and Happydoll resin very well. I am ever so happy with her.

      Thanks Again,
      Julie

    46. Heres a pic of her finished. I dressed her in a simple outfit.
Hope you like her!? MY daughter is loading the pics on the website today and I am planning to list her on ebay tomorrow :)

    47. Oh! She's so beautiful! I'm glad that I have no desire for a blue girl! Though with as lovely as she is I am seriously tempted to bid when the auction goes up. XD

    48. o.o

      *dies X.x*

      I'm in love

      damn it

    49. bugga....... wheres the nearest bank?.......... I need a balaklava.
      Must have Blue Maya...................

oh Kaye, she is really wonderful...........
and I got to see rattimoth's Matilda too, she is gorgeous.

    50. WOW! What a picture!:fangirl:

    51. ROFL .. layaway maybe? It's safer than robbery!

    52. Oh my, she is looking breathtakingly beautiful. I will be so tempted to bid on this one *_*

    53. I wish I could bid on her but I know her price will skyrocket. ;_;

    54. She's gorgeous! I think the simple dress suits her. I think my Matilda would love to have a lovely older (blue) sister. ^_^

      *checks funds*

      *checks funds again*

aw, heck, who needs to eat?

    55. O My Gosh Kaye!!

      You've... done it again!! Wow!

      Wow!!

    56. Dressing Maya in that filmy pink dress with the pale pink mohair wig is the perfect choice for her blue skin.

    57. Ohhhhh does it look pink!! It's actually white mohair and a white outfit. Gosh .. must be my pics!!
I just listed her on ebay so I better go revise the listing to say she is dressed in white. :doh

    58. She looks gorgeous. The blue almost looks like a trick of the light until you get to the last photo.

I need to go sell some dolls so I can bid :) Good luck Kaye!

    59. Wow! that color! She's so stunning *3*
I love your Maya mold and the way you've sculpted her little nose... so bad for that allergy and that you cant' cast more of this pretty pretty girl.
**croos fingers to be able to get one, one day**

    60. Her colour is absolutely amazing and I am incredibly jealous. One of my future dolls is to be a guy who needs skin that same shade of blue, only I am going to be stuck painting him that way and not get that lovely straight through the skin translucence that you have.

She's gorgeous, whoever gets her is going to be one happy owner. :)
