Maya almost finished! Blue Maya pics added.(NUDITY)

Aug 24, 2006

    1. I thought I might show a quickie pic of the next head I have sculpted. This girl is cast in a tan flesh .. the resin is actually tinted brown so she can be sanded etc without any problems. I haven't finished her faceup and need to fix that odd eyebrow but hope to have her finished in the next few days. I've mostly been working on her at night while making Matilda's during the day :)
      Just can't help myself!!

Here's some pics with a new (more mature) upper torso I have sculpted.

      More pics on page 4
[IMG] another pic on page 7.

    2. Fangirl mode: On
:aheartbea I love your work so much! your head are the prettiest ever!:aheartbea
      Fangirl mode: Off

    3. Thank you NataNeko

    4. Aw, cute! Lookit those ears! ^_^ I like her button nose too.

    5. Ohh, I think I like her even more than Matilda!! She looks a little more mature.
Any chance you'd be doing a mini or a tiny before the year ends?

    6. Hi Twigling .. you never know!!! It's a definate possibility. I've already sculpted a head to fit the LaTi green body. I just need to find some time to refine it and make a mold. I've also sculpted an 8" toddler but need to refine that too before I mold her/him.

      I'll keep you posted!

    7. Your sculpts are so beautiful Kaye. I am just so damn impressed with the work you do. That nose is precious! What bad eyebrow? I must be missing something, because I can't see anything wrong with your girl. Does this one have a name yet? What kind of a wig are you going to put on her? She really is just wonderful :daisy :daisy :daisy :daisy

    8. I've almost finished her faceup (just have to gloss the lips etc and add upper eyelashes) and I've been playing!!
What do you think with blue eyes and white wig?
Couldn't resist giving her a few freckles!

    9. Oh My! She's a pretty little thing. Do you have a website? I'd like to see more.
      Shannon

    10. I reshaped one eyebrow because it looked odd to me. I haven't named her .. I just call her head number 3!! Glad you like her :)

    11. Hi Shannon,
      Thanks :)
I do have a website but no dollfies on there .. YET! just my porcelain dolls.
      www.kayewiggs.com

    12. I may need to get another of your dolls Kaye. This one's cute too and Matty needs a companion ;) I like her with the brown eyes best.

    13. I really shouldn't even be looking at this thread.... but wow that second faceup is gorgeous.. and the pic is really flattering in how its shot! I'm thinking this head could look really good as a boy.

I am really looking forward to seeing your small dolls, the head for Lati Green will also probably look very good on the Serendipity 5 age bodytype!!

    14. You are defenately very talented. I love the cute little button noses and the lips of your dolls. If I had your tallent, I'd be making more dolls too :)
It's kind of funny really, if you think about it, Matilda is this doll's big sister, even though she looks older

    15. Now that's just too cute.

    16. Kaye,

      She is wonderful!

      Yia

    17. Out of curiousity, do you think you'll ever make a boy body too?

Also... if you can do tan, would you do custom colors too? Like, bright blue or real black?

    18. Jeez Kaye! How do you do THAT! She just gets prettier. I love her with either set of eyes. The dark eyes have a more ethnic feel and I think would go beautifully with a black wig with lots of corkscrew ringlets. But either wig or color of eyes work great on her. I don't think she looks older- I think she looks younger. I think she looks more thoughtful and serious than Mattilda. Mattilda looks more impish and mercurial and 'up to something'. I actually like this head better because she reminds me of my son Tom when he was a little guy :) :daisy :daisy :daisy

    19. Thanks all for the complements :)

Merrow: Not sure I will ever make a boy ... I may make a boy's head at some time but don't feel inclined to make a full body at the moment but you never know!!

Yes, I can do custom colours but I haven't tried black or bright blue .. I guess it can be achieved.
I mix a lot of colours to get the tan and I'm finding I get a lot of reject pieces as it doesn't always come out evenly but I think the end result is worth it.

fairy@changelingchildren: I might have to try the head on a boy's body and see how it looks .. I think it will be too small for the larger boys, does Volks make a SD10 boy?

Thanks again everyone for your encouraging comments :)

    20. Oh, she's adorable! Love the face and the skintone :)

May I ask what you sculpted her from? And she has no name yet, hm? ^_~

    21. Hi Setsuna,
I sculpted her from polymer clay (Sculpy)
I probably won't name her .. I'll leave that to her new owner as I'm planning on selling her on ebay.

    22. Oh wow, she's absolutely wonderful! Lovelovelove her with the blue eyes/white wig and those freckles! *faints*

    23. sorry .. double post .. YIKES!!

    24. Wow,its fantasticยก Your heads are very pretty *o*

I love the skincolor, I love tan skin but many dolls are ugly tanned.... I would love to make my own doll in a lovely tanned skin too *w*

    25. Another fabulous doll by Kaye! I heard that mine arrived, but I am out of town so I won't see her for a day or two. Wahhh!

    26. oh kaye.... I'm drooling. That's the exact color skin I've been hoping for..... groan.

I'm a bit confused.... is she one of a kind or are you casting her and then listing the casts on ebay?

      -Liza

    27. :daisy Kaye, she is the sweetest little darling I have ever seen! You are sooooo talented. I just cant wait for Matilda!:D

      All the best,
      Kathy:)

    28. Thanks everyone :)

Estrellabird: I am going to be doing an edition of about 6 .. I'm thinking 2 brown, 2 white and 2 flesh, I want to keep one for myself so only 5 will be sold. I have made the ears so they can be reshaped into human ears so I will probably make one or two of the 6 into humans. I want each one to be unique.
I thought I would just list each one on ebay as I have them made.

I will most likely offer all my dolls this way in future (small editions and sell one at a time) because I have found I am allergic to the resin (I'm covered in itchy spots even tho' I wear gloves and a respirator). I can't give up making them (I NEED to be creative!!) so I thought the best idea is just make less so maybe I will be able to have a break between each one!! Hope that works!!

    29. Ooooh, a Kaye toddler! I'm up for that!

    30. sculpting and casting is like eating potato chips, you can't stop with just one. She looks really awesome! Forgive me... but I like her even more than matilda. X3

    31. I forgive you Batchix .. I like her more too! Hopefully I will keep improving with each new doll .. I'm learning as I go.

    32. Kaye.... (hope I'm not bugging you too much...) do you know how much you're going to sell her for... or when she'll be ready? or is this a longterm sort of project?

I'm wondering how much I'm going to need to save and pinch in order to try to win her! She'll probably go way out of my price range:(

*I'm so sorry to hear about your resin allergy... but glad that you're not giving up casting. you're so so talented.*

      -Liza

    33. Hi Lisa, you are not bugging me at all ;)
I was thinking I would start bidding at about $750?? I thought that seems fair as that's about the price the factories charge for tan dolls.
I am hoping to have her listed soon. I am guessing she will be finished by the end of this week or early next week.
I'll post a link to the auction in the market place when she is listed.
      :)
      Kaye

    34. bump for pics added.

I've decided I will name her .. anyone got any suggestions for the perfect name for her?

    35. How about "Maya"?

    36. She is really stunning! Those freckles make her look so cute!

    37. Oooooo, I second that! It's exotic & stays within the M name theme.

On a different, but related, topic... For those of us [deeply grateful and lucky] who have Matilda on layaway, would it be possible to get her with the new chest instead? I love both sculpts, but I must say I'm curious.

    38. Kaye: Your work is fabulous.... and after seeing a Matilda 'in person' I can't believe how much I want one.... I pm'd you.

      Patti

    39. With that red wig I'm thinking "Hey, it's an Asbet-doll!"

Kaye, you are such an inspiration!! I really admire your work:D

    40. Thanks Twigling :)

      Patti: PM'd you back

Glyndon : yes, you can choose the new chest for Matilda if you like.

      Thanks heartofglitter

Setsuna: I like that very much!! Maya she is :) Thanks.

    41. God Kaye! She is really just gorgeous. I love how the color of her skin just glows and the red really brings it out all that much more :aheartbea The more mature chest piece looks very nicely done, too :abow:

    42. Oh oh oh she's so gorgeous!! Makes me want one.. and a Mathilda..

    43. I do the same thing! I've taken to wearing long pants, a hoodie, gloves, and a respirator but I still break out every now and then. I'd read that you're much more likely to break out using the transparent resin than the regular resin, and I certainly break out much worse the one time I used the transparent resin. My doctor offered to give me some good cortizone, but at the time I wasn't planning on casting much. I usually take a benedryl before bed anyway and it's an anti-histamine so it helps a lot too. I hope it gets better for you! I HATE itching! D:

    44. Your work is amazing! I looked at your website, too. Your porcelains are wonderful, too! You are a great sculptor that's for sure.

    45. wow...you are truly gifted! She's so cute!

    46. Batchix, does this mean no more editions of Bastian or Bastito? That's awful that you guys have such a reaction to the resin. I can't imagine getting suited up like that in the summer heat to make dolls is very much fun. Kaye- what's the weather like down where you are? Isn't it cooler this time of year for Australia?

    47. Thanks arcalae

Me too batchix .. I make sure I have all my skin covered but I have to admit I don't always wear a respirator because it hurts the bridge of my nose .. I'm presently looking for a better one because I also have a tachycardia and the chemicals smells make it worse :( :(
I LOVE the transparent resin and don't want to change so I'll just have to overcome the allergy problems.

      Thanks godet and Urushi-kitty

Fairy .. it's still cool down here .. we are going into spring soon so a lovely time of year :) Yeah .. getting suited up in summer isn't going to work as we have temps up to 115 here in summer and my "studio" is a tin shed :(

    48. She is so incredibly beautiful..<3
The moccha-like skin is just soooo pretty. I want one. xD
I need to get a good job, and then... muhahaha.. little, sweet elfgirl for moi..

    49. Kaye,

Will you be selling any of your new dolls as head only too? I don't know if I'm the only one, or maybe just the first to have received, a Matilda with both elf and human head, but I haven't heard anyone else mention how EASY it is to switch heads on your dolls! I love the washer system you came up with.

It's so easy it makes me want to buy more heads! (Especially since I'm loving this sculpt and I expect to love your future sculpts, I love happy girls!)

    50. So you sculpted her with Sculpy...and then casted her in resin? Which type do you use, and also what do you use as a mould?

    51. argh!! You are killing my wallet here!!! Can't you hear it crying?????

Seriously. What are the chances of just a head in light flesh??? I LOVE my Matilda body, and looking at my current resinfamily, I realise that while I adore tan dolls, they just aren't going to fit in very well :<

She is wonderful, and I can see that you are getting better with each sculpt (still kicking myself for not getting that first head you offered).

I bet she soars on ebay, your dolls are so gorgeous and unique that there is bound to be a huge demand for them :>

      Seek peace

      Carol

    52. I've been all creative and given her a tat .. what do you think?
      It's between her shoulderblades.
It needs a little more work .. it's b#**@y hard getting the fine lines even :(
      [IMG]

    53. Merrow and Rattimoth. Sorry .. no heads for this one. I am only doing 7 of her and selling them as I get them made. The browns are sooooooo labour intensive so I'm only doing 3 brown (one for me, one for a friend and one for sale) I'm reeeaaallly want to do a light blue one too but having problems getting the blue resin tint :( the others will be white and flesh.

Mich: Yes, I sculpted her in Sculpy and then cast her in resin. I am using a clear resin and tinting it myself to get the different flesh colours. I'm making the molds from silicon.

      Thanks Illves

    54. wow your talent(s) astounds me !

    55. wow..
lol i don't know why, but if i didn't know bjds where hard, i would think she is sqweezable!! :D she looks like rubber, in a good way! ^_^
but she is just the MOST beautiful doll i have ever seen!!!!!

    56. Oh, how I (heart) her! The tattoo works beautifully with her coloring.

    57. the tatt is just gorgeous, and thanks for letting me know about the heads.. guess I will just have to take out a second mortgage lol! (only half kidding there... )

      Seek peace

      Carol

    58. OK, Change of plans!!!
Good news for those who want just a head .. bad news for those who want a full doll!!
I am going to be doing an edition of 3 brown dolls and then I will sell just heads. I'm finding my old body won't keep up with my desire to make dolls so I have to try to think of a way to still make the dolls without the stress on my bod .. soooo I figure .. it's easy to make heads so I'm just going to do that. I won't limit the heads to a number as I will just keep casting the heads until my mold breaks down .. I think a mold usually lasts for around 50 casts??
I'm going to cast a couple of heads in flesh tones and then I'll put pics and ordering details in the marketplace.

      Thanks all :)

    59. Kaye, I just love the tattoo. :D You are so artistic. That is good news re the heads. Put me down for a flesh tone for sure! :fangirl:

      All the best,
      Kathy:)

    60. Well, thank goodness you're not giving up casting altogether! :)

      Keep well!

      Love,

      Judy
