@nancy_schroeder_ca It's been a couple years since I had Doll Leaves but their new NS was more pink toned. I don't know how it mellows (only had that doll for about 6 months before he was rehomed) so I'm also curious to know how it looks after a year or so time.
Alice's Collection's offers Laura in grey as well as normal and white, and that would work best for the sort of surreal look I have in mind. I don't think I'm going to be able to resist the temptation to get one.
It sure looks pretty in pictures @eldi , and I hope I like in person, since I just ordered a grey Laura!
Of course I'll share her! In the mean time the Dollmore hands I ordered for my DIM Alana have yet to arrive. I replied to the shipment email I got to let them know I haven't gotten it yet. The tracking site shows my package got to an American airport, but the tracking number provided isn't recognized by the USPS website. I've been waiting nearly three months for these hands, and I don't even know if they'll work.
I had a doll that the shipping showed that it was on a flight and it was a month before USPS admitted they had the package.
Naturally my package showed up today. Unfortunately the Dollmore hands are slightly smaller than the ones my DIM girl came with, much pinker than her current resin tone, being new. I'm going to see if I have some extra S-hooks and try putting them on her anyway. Her default hands have hooks imbedded in the resin.
Laura looks so adorable And the price is very accessible. I was so close to ordering her, but I need a good posing doll so if Laura isn't the best then I am afraid I will have to pass... It is so rare to find a nice posing 1/6
I have just ordered a Maskcat Inez - they have some in stock dolls on the new website. Very excited to receive her, and I love the fact she can wear Barbie/Blythe clothes.
@forged_in_mess you might want to check out Myou's 1/6 dolls. Three of their girls have a mature body/head size and they have double jointed knees and elbows. I have one on my wish listed but limit time dolls keep popping up and making me order them first!
I second the recommendation for Myou dolls! Their 1/6 girls are beautiful and very nice posing. And quite affordable too!
I love seeing everyone's mature tinies here~ I fell a little in love with Xagadoll's tinies of New Clover Singing, but I haven't found one that's made me make the leap yet. I also looked at Myoudoll, Soom, and Dollmore, but who else is out there?
Granado makes very nice men and they have started releasing girls. I have one on order to join the boys. Asleep Eidolon makes various sizes also from 20cm to 32cm. They are a sister company of Xaga. There was a re-release of Doll Leaves Laura but the order period is over. I recently got an ARK Doll;Mr. Bunny Z. Little Monica has several. There seem to be more and more 1/6 mature dolls! Here's a comparison shot of a few of my guys! I need to do another one with new arrivals!
Thank you for the recommendation I just checked and myou have their "special girl" line that is 1/6, but they look very... Childlike to me with option with big boobs they look a bit like kid with implants I think I would like something like minifee or youpla, but... 23-28 cm
@forged_in_mess there is the Xaga doll Red Black Obsidian line which look more mature, but are a little bit taller at 32cm. I havn't seen many of them around but I like their sculpts.
Xagadoll/Asleep Eidolon do have 27cm girls as well! There are 2 body types available. The heads sold for the 32cm girl bodies (that are relatively new) are actually not available on those bodies though, unfortunately... (I know because I asked, haha.)
I'm considering ordering Xagadoll hands for my DIM lady who's hands I severely dislike. The problem is I've only seen them available on the Asleep Eidolon website, and shipping costs more than the hands.
You might ask Alice's Collections if they would order them for you. They currently have free airmail shipping on orders over $35. You should check if the hands would get the free shipping. They do charge paypal fees but that's not much.
Hello all I am currently waiting for my Maskcat Inez and already looking for who to get to keep her company :-). I'm very tempted by the Myou tinies, but I've also stumbled across Little Cosmos dolls. It looks like the Birdie size dolls (Mini Bastian, Camille) are 21cm tall and wear Blythe size clothing. Login • Instagram They are quite childlike looking but thinking they might work well with Inez. Does anyone have one?
I have both Little Cosmos Camille and Maskcat Ceci, kimlouiseb. Here they are with one of my Ipelhouse BIDs. Camille and Ceci are similar in size but Ceci is a bit stockier in the body. Their feet are about the same size.
Thank you so much. I love your Camille, and they look great together. Is Ceci shorter than the new Maskcat girls? They are 26cm I believe.
Yes, Ceci is 21cm tall. I'd forgotten the new girls were a bit taller, so your Inez will be about my BID's height, which is still good, methinks.
I took everyone's advice and looked at Granado, Doll Leaves, AE, and Little Monica, but honestly, I keep coming back and mentally comparing them all to Xaga's Yilia ... which is probably telling, isn't it?! Where do you guys typically buy eyes for such small dolls? I can make my own clothes and wigs for them, but I have yet to try making any eyes, and Cloversinging doesn't list what eye size they take.
Most of my mature tinies take 6mm eyes, including my Xaga boy. These days I usually just type '6mm bjd eyes' into Etsy and browse around until I find something I like!
I've gotten some eyes from crafteyes, both for tinies and for other sizes. My myoudoll Bettina wears eyes from them and they fit nicely. Their eyes have a very round dome so it might not fit for every doll, but they're pretty cheap and they have a nice variety of realistic styles, so it can be worth checking. Do note also that their eyes have a "follow" effect that can make taking pictures more challenging sometimes
@Gallye and @Tagath thank you both for your recommendations! I'm going to look around some more before I take the leap.
Several of my mature tinies wear 6mm glass eyes from Denver Doll Emporium. They don't have a huge selection, but I like the ones I've gotten from them.
My Maskcat Inez arrived yesterday and I love her. I've also ordered a Myou Bettina on layaway as the 15% discount was too good to miss - they are such good value dolls. I am on my way to starting a mature tiny crew!
Has anyone received a mature tiny from Dollshe yet? I know some people decided it wasn't worth the wait and canceled their orders. I'm still waiting and hoping.
Ha HAAA, no. I ordered one in September of 2018 and here I am, still waiting, three years later. I thought about getting a refund, but honestly it suits the spiteful side of my nature to hang in there and keep asking after it and not let Mr. Dollshe off the hook just yet. I doubt it'll do me any good, but...
I've got a Laura on order in grey from Alice's Collections. I'm hoping she can pose better than my single jointed Soom dolls. It's been three years this month that I've been waiting on my Dollshe order. I'm patient or stubborn enough not to give up on my Hound yet. But I want him to get here already!
I went ahead and emailed Dollshe about the Fashion Minis and was informed, in essence, that the initial 3D modeling is not completed so they can't give me any production or delivery estimates. (Also it might be because not enough people purchased the doll in question and did I want to upgrade to a bigger doll that already exists?) I do really want the smaller doll, so I said so (very politely! I feel bad for the poor people who handle Dollshe's email!) and said that I would continue to wait. Still, this doesn't sound good.
That's discouraging. I'm wondering why they started selling dolls this size before they'd made any, or at least finished most of the pre-casting work. As well as being a bad business practice, it seems like a dumb thing to do.
I posted some photos of my Laura, showing posing, eye sizes, and clothing options, on the Doll Leaves 20cm thread, and from my understanding a lot of people were displeased with the doll once they got her. Mine went through two owners before me in quick recession, and I've debated selling mine as well--but I love her even with her limits. Doll Leaves also has another similar sized doll, Milli, who is a centaur but her joints are awful. She basically can't bend her deer legs in any meaningful way. Laura isn't the best, but Milli's joints make her price point a pretty hard sell. I think Doll Leaves needs to spend more time testing their jointing if they're going to continue in the mature tiny market, in my opinion.
Thanks for your review @theplushfrog ! I've got 6mm flat back eyes that I hope will suit her, and her posing looks better than my single jointed Soom fairies. They are beautiful, but they are pretty poor posers. Added: I ordered Jin new hands from Asleep Eidolon directly, as Alice's Collections is only a dealer for their "child" company Xagadoll. With 6mm glass eyes for one of my Soom guys, shipping was as much as what I ordered. I really hope they fit her!
My poor Clever Little has been naked for too dang long. I don't really jive with sewing small at all. But his name makes searching a bit tedious. Etsy I don't want a ton of t-shirts that say clever little fox. Can anyone give me some suggestions for clothing for Clever Little? Ready-made or to-order is fine. I want to dress him up like an elf who is in charge of a forest, so that kind of fantasy-medieval feel?
Hello all! I purchased an artist doll from Russia that is about 12cm (she's off topic for DoA I think?), and this has me looking for more mature tiny dolls in the 12-16cm range. I didn't see a mature ultra tiny thread lol and thought you folks would be the most likely to know! (my wishlist of mature tinies is growing thanks to all your wonderful pictures. I adore mature sculpts but lack room for more SDs, my usual favorites!)
Most of my tiny mature BJD's are in the 19cm and up range. I do still have some Elfdoll tinies that are 14cm. I am trying to think if I have any others! Have you checked the Wiki to see if the artist/company is listed as on topic? There is also info on dolls that are off topic. It is under reference.
Hi thanks for replying! I forgot about elf doll. Snd yes, I checked the wiki. She'd be on topic if the artist submitted her, as she meets all the criteria haha (rubydoll01 on Etsy). I love her regardless, but I'd love some other tiny friends for her! I may take the plunge on a slightly larger mature tiny, like the Mascat girls or a Merrydollround Pygmy. There are a lot more options now than back when I took my extended hobby break! I appreciate any ideas you think of
I'd really like to do a full lineup/comparison photo now that I have a handful of mature tinies, but I need sunlight during any of my free time lol
Denver Doll has a 20cm Doll Leaves Laura in stock. It'll be a while until the grey one I ordered comes home. I took a comparison photo of my mature tiny gang a few years ago, but the tribe has grown since then so I should take new ones. Here's the old one- Mature Tiny Comparison Only the shortest guy, a Xagadoll Ken, is currently available
I should take a new lineup photo too... It's been a few years, and I sure have added to the collection! Ken looks so tiny compared to the other beefy boys, haha. EDIT: This isn't a lineup at all, but I did make a few new furniture/accessory items for my two favorites right now, my (second) Xagadoll Syvlia, Aurelie, and my Granado 30Garden, Desiderius. I made the chair, the shelf you can kind of see to the left there, and all the books on it--although I didn't design the covers! Those are all printables from Etsy, ahaha.
I just received my DL Laura, in stock from DDE. She doesn't pose well, and is a little hard to find clothes for, but she's so delicate and pretty! I'm glad I got her. In my opinion, a good face up and wig make a huge improvement.
What size wig fits her @Chraurelius ? I'm waiting on one I pre-ordered and I'd like to have one waiting for her. Separate question- does anyone know where to get S-hooks for hands? My DIM has hooks embedded in her original hands, but the Asleep Eidolon ones I ordered for her need S-hooks.
This is my Luzy, a Myou Gina. I've been struggling to sew for her - not used to anything so small. This pattern is almost nailed down; I just need to redraft the bodice to tighten it up a bit. I'll gladly share the pattern if I can figure out how. Myou Gina by Victoria Davis, on Flickr
DL Laura wears a 4" wig, which means that some wigs that size will fit and others won't, for no good reason. I think her head is unusually shaped.
Little wigs are variable!! The wig manufacturers are frequently not very accurate with the size they list. If a wig is 3.75 inches, they may list it as 4 or 3-4 inches. DL Laura has a 9cm head. I used to get 9cm wigs from a maker on Etsy but I'm not sure they are still there! I need to get those out and try them on Laura. She needs a wig!
This is my Dollmore Kidult Celia (12 in/32 cm FMD BJD): Initially, I was unhappy with how the head looked in proportion to the rest of the body - to the point I was starting to shop around for different bodies or heads. I even tried to sell the doll at one point, figuring I could start over with a Granado tiny (unsuccessfully, fortunately). Then I grabbed the Asleep Eilodon merman tail off of Marketplace: I realized that it was the super tiny waist that made the head look out of proportion. Now I'm in love with her all over again.
