My Dream Valley Lucia arrived! I though she might work as a girlfriend for one of my Soom Mini Gem guys, but her head is much smaller. I love her anyway. Here she is riding the my Buckbeak from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Hippogriff rider
@Leo Pheonix Lucia looks amazing! @SteamWitch Can I ask what sculpts they are? They look cool @stellarphenomena She looks so lovely - the dress is so nice
I just recently placed an order for the new Bee8, so I'm going to officially own a tiny \o/ I'm wondering if the lovely people in this thread would have any suggestions on what clothing I can find that will fit him? He's not exactly the size of most of the 1/6 mature BJD I've seen, coming in at 25cm with a shoulder width of only 5 cm. Any directions I should take when clothes hunting would be most appreciated!
I'm embarrassed to admit how many clothes I've already got on order for him. He's quite a unique size, I'm already mentally preparing to have to hem pants at least a small amount. The closest I've found based on measurements is probably the Obitsu slim 27 and Petworks 1/6 male. Luckily pretty popular in terms of Japanese doll clothes makers making things. I've ordered a pair of pants from Gallery Kiskae on Minne, a few pieces from Flapper (ig/Flapper0919), and a few blythe tops from various 2nd hand sources. It'll be interesting to see how things end up fitting with doll in hand. I probably should have ordered cheap stuff from temu to see how it fits before jumping into dealer made clothes but pre-orders are so few and far between
Oh man, I'd be doing the same thing if I wasn't already bad this month lol. That combined with struggling to find a size has hampered my ability to really go wild. A bit of hemming won't be too bad, I just don't wanna have to deal with sleeves. Refitting sleeves would make me cry xD Thank you!! That'll give me a great starting point on Etsy and the like, see if I can get a feel for the kinds of clothes he wants!
Same! I hope it succeeds! I originally wanted the regal body for my character, but after seeing all the posing ability of the fortis body, I don't want the regal body anymore
So far I've ordered a couple of Blythe tops and eyeing Barbie trousers, but haven't ordered yet. Same with shoes. I keep going back to the measurements chart. I'm tempted to sew something, but he's so small it'll be tricky!
The 33cm body still needs 3 more orders according to granado's most recent post. I want it to fill faster so I can stop feeling anxious about it.
OoooOOOOo, so Barbie trousers may work! Yeah, sewing would definitely be tricky! Though sewing by hand shouldn't be too bad, as it wouldn't be quite as much sewing lol. So far I'm not vibing with the modern clothing I've seen, for my boy, so I may end up having to go the sewing route unfortunately xD
I think the Barbie trousers may need to be shortened? But tbd. I'll order a pair just in case, and if it works, I can use it as a base for making more patterns too. Right now I'm hand sewing a knit jersey top for one of my other dolls, who is a lot bigger, so I'm getting my practice in haha. One day I'll get a serger.
I sew 95% of the clothes for my boys and they vary in size from 5cm to 72cm and I sew everything by hand. I have a sewing machine and know how to use it but I prefer to hand sew as I watch true crime shows when I sew and find it relaxing. Even if I did use my machine, I highly doubt I'd sew clothes for 1/6 or 1/8 dolls as the seams are so tiny to make it not worth it in my mind.
I follow this doll clothes maker on Instagram who has videos of how she makes the tiny doll sized clothes. A mix of machine and hand finishing. Taking a page out of her book I found sewing seams before cutting the piece out made it immeasurably easier to machine sew pieces that small. Even still I'd buy clothes over making them if I could at this scale.
Sewing while watching true crime sounds like a perfect way to spend an evening!! And sewing with a machine for a max of 2 inches before having to does seem like a waste of getting the machine out and all the rest of the effort involved. Ohhh, resources, awesome!!! Thank you, I'll definitely take a look!
She's recommended OB22/24 clothes, which are both very common AND means that Blythe clothes will probably work a majority of the time. Obitsu 22/24 are really popular for rebodying Blythe. There's also a decent amount of similarly sized bodies being made/used for Nendoroid heads. He may also work with Momoko things for a slightly oversized fit. Basically he should be pretty easy to dress! The most difficult thing is likely going to be shoes, as ever, but 2.6cm isn't too hard to find actually.
Hi all! I'm hoping for a 65cm body, and it looks like we only need two more people to sign up for this to fund! Can I talk a couple of you into taking the plunge?
oooooOOO! Thank you for the suggestions for likely places to hunt! I'm actually not sure right now if he wants to wear shoes, but I'll keep that in mind lol
These mini dolls are impressive! I used to have off topic Obitsu dolls and I can't imagine doing a face up on something that small, yet people in this thread have customised them so well @stellarphenomena Vieruodis is such an enchanting sculpt ~ @SteamWitch Your dolls make me think of band members discussing their music, somehow.
If anyone is looking for affordable 1/6 clothes, Five Below has Glam Squad Style Packs that are $3.25 each & surprisingly good! These were from the Autumn Vibes & Fashionista packs. Glasses & shoes are way too small, but the clothes are cute! Left to right is #Licca on an Obitsu 26, Myou Gina, & Maskcat Feline. (album link in case photos break) Spoiler: More photos Feline’s shoes are Blythe-size from AliExpress
Has anyone else seen Project Delta Nue? He's a unique tiny available from BJDivas. It looks like he has a bigger head and takes bigger eyes than most dolls this scale.
Oh! I saw him on their Instagram but I didn't realize he was 1/6 size. He's got that real out-there look like the Dream Valley and Dollzone dolls, which is super cool. I notice he's also available in a flesh tone, and I'd love to see pictures of that. It looks like he can wear Obitsu 27 clothing and similar lines, so he's probably not too much bigger in the body, at least!
This is their website https://www.projectdelta.co.kr/ and 2eul1011 on insta I've been following them for a bit but haven't had the "gotta have this one" feeling yet.
Oooh, he's very cool looking for a mature tiny. A bit too stylized body-proportion-wise. Probably similar to Myou mature tinies (they wear 9mm eyes by default and have 4.5" heads), but I only got mine due to FOMO and not really due to personal preference. I prefer more realistic proportions in general, unless it is a hyper-stylzed, not very mature looking doll. The Myou ones are a little large-headed for me, although I do love my Bettina to bits, I wish I could magically shrink his head (not a fan of "mature-looking" giant-headed-dolls). DX
I like their Bambi though not enough to buy. But I do like how unique all their face sculpts are - very expressive! Definitely great for anyone who likes more of the anime/manga aesthetic. Thanks for sharing with all of us!
Project Delta Nue is very cool looking. The Bambi sculpt is also very cute. I think I would lean towards Nue, but overall just very cool to look at!
Oh I love Nue, he's really cool! Not quite my speed, either (or at least not enough for me to plonk down the money for him) but so cool... I do love Project Delta's sculpts.
I have been away from the hobby for quite a while now. I never did find any mature 1/6 dolls back then because they were either sold out or discontinued. I was wondering since it's been so many years if there are any mature female 1/6 dolls now available? One person mentioned Myou doll but just with a quick look they seem to be to "cutsie". I was also wondering about places for clothing and props. I am looking on my own but not finding much. I know many people here are so informative, if anyone knows you all do! Thank you in advance!!!
Granado has mature 1/6 dolls. They aren't currently available on the Granado site but you can order them on Legend.
I have one and he’s gorgeous!! The detail is incredible. The hardest thing has been trying to find a wig that fits well.
I have one of the 15cm Granado boys and the details on such a small doll are incredible. I made him his wig because there's nothing out there readily available in his teeny-tiny size.
I have purchased a number of wigs for my Granado family but I need to get them all out and try them on.
Illarion's wig is my first attempt at making a ventilated wig. Despite the crazy tiny size of it, it still took me about 30 hours to do and it looks better in person than it does in the photo below. Overall I'm pleased with it and learned quite a bit in the making of it. I have 2 more very small wigs to make for my Batchix Clever Littles but haven't gotten to it yet as I've got a ton of projects screaming for my attention. Illarion & Mau-Sehk by ID Locke, on Flickr
What wig size do the Granado 1/6 guys generally take? I've not been able to work that out properly, myself. Follow on: where do people find wigs for them?
@Iron_Dog the volume and colour of your wig really suits Illarion, nice job. Do you mind if I ask what a ventilated wig is? And who that intriguing feline fellow sitting next to him is???
@Saba Thank you. A ventilated wig is one that is made using very fine mesh/netting (sometimes called French lace although it's very much NOT lace like you'd typically think of) sewn into a wig cap with individual strands of hair knotted into the lace using a ventilating tool. It creates a very realistic look to the wig and is used for human wigs, too. It's very labour intensive as you're literally knotting 2-3 strands of hair into each hole of the mesh. You use a special ventilating tool to do this and loose hair. it's also a really good method for wigs that are really small as it doesn't add bulk like typical wefts would. The motion is almost identical to how you latch hook a rug and the tool is very close in design to a latch hook with the exception of the latch part being absent. That does make it a bit more difficult to do the motion as the exposed hook of the tool can and does sometimes catch on the mesh and you need to carefully remove/untangle it. Catching the hook happens less frequently as you get more experience. The wig is also created while on the doll's head. To keep it from sliding around while knotting the hair, make a few passes of regular sewing thread under the doll's chin creating a chin strap sort of deal. The wig cap is not stretchy and has no elastic so without that, the wig will pop right off the first time you try to knot hair. I've also found it very helpful for my old eyes to use green painter's tape on the doll's head under the cap to provide some contrast between the colour of the mesh and resin, making the holes easier to see. I also need to wear the highest magnification reading glasses you can buy from the drug store (3.25 here in Canada) because old eyes are old *sigh. The painter's tape also allows me to make directional marks on the tape to help direct me as I'm knotting the hair. Mau-Sekh is the catboy in the photo and he'd 3D printed by an artist on Etsy. He's well designed in my opinion but due to the shape of his feet/paws, he cannot stand unaided. He's reasonably smooth (the lines of printing are barely/not noticeable), his eyes are changeable and he came with a 2nd pair of hands.
@Iron_Dog thank you for explaining the process to me, it sounds intriguing! I would love to give it a go (used to latch hook back in the day) but the need for high magnification specs would do me in lol Mau-Sekh is fantastic
@Saba I need the high mag specs because my eyesight is less than ideal overall. I had to start wearing bi-focal/progressives when I was in my early 40's (I've worn glasses for distance since I was 10). I've seen others do it without glasses/magnification in multiple videos on YouTube. Mau-Sekh is very nicely sculpted and if strong light is behind him, you can see it diffused through the upper parts of his ears just like you sometimes can with light coloured cats.
A magnifier is very handy for working on mature tinies in general. I got a little desk clip on and it's be soooooo useful
Dream Valley Rin (human ver.) is here!! Going to go for a sweet pastel clownlita vibe for her! She's quite kicky and needs restrung and sueded for sure, and I also need to make her some clothes (she's currently using her long hair for modesty lol) First on the outfit list is a comfy pair of PJs, I want my crew to be ready for winter~
Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I tried looking for the right forum but didn't find anything. I ordered a Grenado Lucent on a 32Adaigo body back in the beginning of December. While waiting for him I ordered quite a few clothing items for him from a company in China that makes clothing specifically for this Grenado doll. The items were delivered to the wrong home, and I have never received them. I did get a photo of the package left sitting on a set of steps. But not the steps at my home. My neighbors apparently think it's ok to steal items that have been delivered to their home but are not theirs. Not the first time this has happened to me, but only with packages from outside the US. Anyhow, I was wondering if there are any companies, or people in the United States that make clothing that fit this size mature doll? Does anyone in the US do custom orders for this size mature doll? TIA!!
Based on the body dimensions of your doll he might can wear barbie clothes/rainbow high etc. I buy a lot of 1/6 scale clothes from aliexpress/etsy/ebay. It’s all about just knowing the size dimensions of your doll.
Action figure clothing can work in a lot of circumstances. When I had a Soom Mini Gem boy (it was Mute), he fit pretty well into some Ken clothing and action figure outfits (like the ones from Hot Toys & the like). I think your doll is a little bit taller but should still work in those types of clothing. Pants were the biggest hurdle, and shoes, but the action figure should worked pretty well as long as they were the kind that actually lace up/actual fabric. The plastic ones were too loose and tended to fall off.
Hi! Can someone advise a male who will match with Dream Valley Lucia? She's 27cm and I'd like to have a male no taller than 29cm (I'm making characters from my story and bigger difference is too much for them) On the pic she's near a White boy 30cm (casted, on the right) and a custom boy 28cm (OT). White has a very small head and is too tall and thin (and i meed human near Lucia-elf), and the left one's head is too big, but height is fine. But he's 3d printed and I'd like to find casted one. https://i.ibb.co/HTBHFrSw/IMG-0964.png
Hmm, I can compare for you sometime in the near future, but the Xagadoll/Asleep Eidolon 27cm boys MIGHT fit the bill... I'm unsure about relative head size, though. Someone in my local community has a Lucia, and her head was pretty small in comparison to my Xagas. It's kind of an odd size to find though in cast dolls, that sort of ~28cm range. I've had much better luck in printed ones, unfortunately... Let me know if you'd like to see a Xagadoll Sylvia boy next to a Lucia though, and I can make sure to bring mine to my next doll meet at the end of February!
What is her wig size? I'm wondering if I have a girl with a similar head size for a comparison. And I have never seen a boy like the one on the right from Maskcat.
The boy on the right looks very much like a White doll (from Dolly Planet). Those feet with the separate big toe are unusual.
I've looked at practically every image on Maskcat's Instagram and have never seen any male sculpts. However @nancy_schroeder_ca is onto something with the White Doll suggestion. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, where four guys are all lined up, the one on the far right looks exactly like the doll labeled as "Maskcat" above: 白零|WHITE 29CM 1/6 BJD - dollyplanet Edited to add: I feel like I've seen many other guys in this scale lately, but they do tend to have small heads like this one (unfortunately). I will come back and post again if I see anything similar to Lucia's proportions, though!
Here is a variety of males with larger heads, Myou Rod, Asleep Eidolon Claus(Klaus), Asleep Eidolon Cordilea male, Xaga Ken, White 30cm, Island Doll Song Yu I think Myou of Xaga Ken might be possibilities. There are three Myou boys to choose from. Xaga Cyrus is probably the same size head as Ken.
I'd be grateful! Yes, it's him! I've edited my message above. I was looking for author name on Tao and the only thing that was written in english was "maskcat" so I thought it was the author. wow, thank you for this comparison! Xaga Ken has a very nice body. Head possibly would be too big, but printing head only is better than the body.
