Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 3

When I started collecting BJDs, I only collected mature tinies and smaller, in scale kids. I got my first, a Soom Mini Gem back in 2013. Two of the companies that made mature tinies (that I have) no longer exist. I'm glad interest has grown from both companies and collectors to have more dolls this size. For a mature tiny line that is still available and a bit less mentioned lately is Asleep Eidolon's sister company, Xagadoll's Red Obsidian line. Here's an older pic of my Xagadoll Ken-

Alright, I was bad... I found a granado galileo on instagram and had to snag him! I've got another tiny on the way before I've even gotten a faceup on my first girl I'm so excited for him though!! I already have eyes for him and have a wig being made! He'll be sent off to my friend as well for a faceup His name will be Gage, the love interest for my Limhwa Sara who I've named Pandora!

I second that Ken and Cyrus from Xagadoll are underrated sculpts--I'm even selling mine... but not because he's not cute, that's for sure. I really love Xagadoll in general. Even after selling my Ken, I'll still have three of them.

This is incredible!!! She’s so dainty next to them, but doesn’t seem so different aesthetically that they can’t play nice together... I may have to think more on backstories to explain why she is smaller or why he is.. giant.. I think soom boys are about the same as the Adagio, is that right? And Bayou does look stunning from here, but I hope to see more of them thank you for sharing while I’m in dolly waiting limbo, it helps with the anticipation

Here's a close up of Bayou! It's not the best lighting but I think you can see how lovely she is! This is the basic faceup!

 

I think Adagio is slightly bigger than the Soom boys; I have both and can take a comparison later, if you'd like. (I thought I had one on hand but the last big comparison photo I took was right before I got my boy who is on that body... Of course... I really ought to do another.)

Oh no, Bayou IS stunning… I wasn’t feeling her promo pictures, but she might have to go on my list now are those the Granado eyes? They look so good..

Oh yes, for science!!! Whenever you have time.. I have a soom boy but it will be a while before I get my grabby hands on a Granado. I’m planning to hit the order button at the end of the week..
On the bright side though, my May arrived today from across the pond! I don’t have a name or look for her yet, but here is really quick pic of her plotting with my Metato. Starting to get the feeling it’s dangerous to let the fae mingle.. I’m holding out to see how they look together when she has a faceup, I didnt really expect them to hang out together but they seem to be vibin’.

Yes, they are Granado's eyes! I think these are color 03. I didn’t mark all of them when they arrived.

 

Oh wow, seeing this makes me realize just how much of a difference there is between a 32cm doll and a 29cm doll! I love that there's a ton of height variation in these guys though actually, makes it more realistic!

Does anyone here have a Mimo Marina Batty? Really thinking about getting one but I'm wondering what size clothes he would fit, maybe Blythe?

I do think they look great together! I reach for Des (the Granado boy) a LOT more than I do my Soom boy, honestly. Partially this is because of the characters and because I keep Des on display on my desk, but also the Soom body is... well... It's pretty, but it doesn't pose well at all. The Granado body is a much better poser, so he's easier to play with. Still, they're both beautiful!

 

Does anyone know if Tonner 16 inch clothing would fit Myou or Soom Mini Gems?

 

I would think not, considering they're closer to 12". 16" is more like MSD size!

I haven't found a bjd yet that can wear Tonner clohes

 

My Dollmore 16" fashion resins (male and female) can wear Tonner clothes, although pants are high-water, and long sleeves can be a little short, but -- they make do.

 

@beamlette That's good to know! I may have to take another look at them!

 

I really like some of the outfits but if I don't have the right dolls, then Tonner clothes might not be an option. (I keep eyeing an Arwen tonner dress on ebay but if that is MSD size...but my MSDs might be too big for it.)

 

Hey everyone! I was excited to see there is an active catch all thread for this size of doll. I think that's awesome. Anyway I've popped in because I'm waiting on two second hand mature 1/6. I've not had a bjd this scale in ten years. I wonder what that old lumedoll guy is up to. (I wish we had the chin scratching thinking emoji haha)
Anyway... I don't know if I will regret this or not. But as a lover of the old stuff I kind of couldn't resist when I found the two 1/6 Aoi tukihime together for such a deal. It was probably my little treat of the year though I have mixed feelings about working with this size. But it looks like you all have a lot of fun and it's very inspiring! I saw so many great pictures of all your dolls and their clothes and some with nice furniture and everything!

I hope you post your two new tinies when they arrive I’ve really been enjoying this space for all things tiny and this size overall.. it’s not overwhelming to make them furniture and diorama spaces and it feels like there could be useful props around every corner… ex. I’m currently going through letter opener swords for my incoming Granado Gabriel (I just placed my order for him today!) do you have any plans for you incoming aoi tukihimes?

 

Aw thank you @ArouraAnn letter opener swords are so cool. I have two from my early days that are bigger, for 1/4 really. I hope you find a cool one!
Edit: and I love admiring the Granados! I wouldn't order one because apparently boobs are the only thing to siren song me back to mature tinies but I follow some people photographing the Granado guys.

Realistically I don't have a plan. I was feeling sad and got lost in the wonder of looking at them I think it will depend on what I can pull off for them to wear. Probably the most likely thing is to make them faeries in the kind of style you see at renfaire and then they could hang out with my 1/3 dolls too.
Sometimes I have really liked Sewing for this size -ish. A few years ago I was making a lot for some vintage Barbies I found thrifting. Any time I see a small doll it's this daydream that they could easily be with me all the time and we go for more adventures. Not likely a dream to be realized in my life but it's worth something to have the daydreams.
I'm going to hate myself immediately trying to sew... They have the L bust (not XXL at least) but I already know how it will be
Maybe if anyone here loves to sew this size I can pick up some tricks to make really cute things more easily.

Thanks for the recommendation @nancy_schroeder_ca but this is probably my purchase of the year and I'm ok with it. I'm out of the acquisition phase of the hobby, and with something new coming in I already have to kick myself to keep destashing.
But a change of pace here and there to cheer myself up can help

Aw good luck @nancy_schroeder_ca it's so tiresome I'm lucky and and at least not battling my collection against temptation for more much at all these days so it's going slowly but surely in the right direction. I wish you strength for your destashing!

@Idoru yay you remember them! Did the big ones ever have such a large chest option? The girls I am expecting are the L bust which is huge (and there is XXL which, you can imagine)
Lol im so excited to show them! Maybe with a spoiler... I feel like before they arrive I can make them a little futon floor bed set to snuggle up in when they are home! And I'm doodling outfits I think I could pull off at their scale.
My first bjd adjacent purchase ever was a 1/6 large bust Obitsu so this is very nostalgic.

@Idoru I spent my whole afternoon pouring over the website yesterday but mostly in the gallery of all the 1/6 ones ... blows me away. It was falling into the soft dreamworld of all those photos that made me convince myself I should just buy the lot I saw because I'm insane if I don't
The big girls had a slightly different vibe add I just didn't figure out if any of them were top heavy. I know a lot of people beheaded the 1/3 versions over the years to use for hybrids. But I really like the artists face style too. They are very gentle and welcoming characters!
Ok I will stop talking everyone to death though, I appreciate having an outlet to share my excitement today

 

So just for follow up/ posterity: I clearly did not understand that the Aoi takehime little dolls are not strung, are not on topic (and so I won't be back about it) but I wanted to let anyone else know... So that now it is known if it wasn't
At least in this 12th year in the hobby I guess I have finally learned the feeling of the maximum disappointment a person could feel.
The structure is that they are resin and ball jointed and simply fit together, which is so precarious that they arrived with many body parts separated. The hands are the biggest problem and I feel certain I could end up losing them if I do most anything I wanted to do with her. So

I'm rather smitten with them.

The buffbody fits action figure clothes better, but his neck is thinner and legs are longer. The twink body is so svelte that he needs female action figure shoes to not look like he's got disproportionate feet.

I thought nicer action figures were realistic but then it's like.... wow their heads are huge. xD

Also I don't what it is that my Batchix Clever little has been the bane of my existence for years while these guys are just a smidge bigger and it's like yes I love you.

I'm pretty sure I will get a Granado Mature tiny whenever I decide which head is The One™

 

They look so good!! Man I love that buff boy more than I thought I would... I wish I'd gotten one, now! Both of them, really... I hope they do a re-release.

 

I was surprised to see the older version of the skinny whitedoll boy listed as open for sale again on dollyplanet, so it doesn't seem like whitedoll is one of those companies that is 100% opposed to re-releasing things.

if the older version didn't have closed eyes I probably would be more tempted grab one (2023 has too many dolls that are total bangers. my wallet has been in danger all year lol)

 

Right?? 2023 is already just such a dangerous year!! I feel the same about the 30cm body--I'm sad it ONLY comes with a close-eyed head, because I really don't like to buy those.

 

so, Morning Star Doll is going to have another release of Amanita on July 17th, or so it was said on instagram

I hope that the quantities won't be as limited this time, and if they are, that I'll be a little luckier than two years ago

The sculpting is so sweet - I love the detail, especially the dimples in her back.

 

Has anyone mentioned Island Dolls "Hua Island" line here already? They're mature, 32 cm high, 2 male dolls do far.

Edit: no wait, actually only Song Yu is listed as 32cm high, the other one is 48cm @_@

Ah, that's a shame! The painted eyes make him off-topic for DoA, which is a shame because he's otherwise lovely. I hope they make an open-eyed version of him someday... Or an open-eyed head for that body, at least.

 

I would love Song Yu, if the head sculpt were much smaller, although I do see a proportionate sized neck (rare for these dolls, I fear). I prefer smaller heads on my actually mature-looking males (I don't mind my MYou having giant melon head, because he's not really "mature" looking). I don't mind the painted eyes, although I do understand he's off topic and cannot be discussed further. If I had plenty of fun-funds to spare (w/out having to worry about limited, expensive shipping from Japan for my OT hoardage), I would seriously consider him, depending on how the body looks nude... probably shouldn't look for those, leaving temptation to just that. Thanks for sharing, digi!

 

Last comment on Song Yu: peoples heads vary and I like the head in the nude pictures under the bodies listing. I think the wig is too thick.

Hello, all!

So I only relatively recently - as in, the past couple of years - discovered the idea of Mature 1/6 dolls and I fell in love with this scaling. I've managed to add a couple to my collection - a MYOU Gina, a Maskcat Joy, and two Pitusas - and I adore them to pieces.

My question for you all is this: which company would you recommend for a good mature 1/6 male sculpt? I know there is MYOU and Xaga dolls, but I was wondering what else was out there that was still currently available.

 

@werepuppy Granado makes wonderful male bodies. Their heads are smaller in a realistic scale. Xaga and Myou males are also very nice.

 

I have been looking at the Granado dolls! They do look really nice.

I do think - when I eventually have the money to do so (saving is hard) - I might go for a Xaga doll? I think that would fit some of the Ken sized stuff I have in my clothing box for dolls.

 

I have one of the Granado 15Lucent and the details on such a small doll (he's only 15cm) is amazing. You can actually see some veins on his body and there's lines in the palms of his hands. Finding wigs/clothes/shoes is a nightmare but you can't have the whole world, right?
