Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 2

Dec 3, 2017

    1. All these line-up and comparison photos are super useful! I've only got two dolls to add, which isn't really a "Line-up" but I'm totally down to try and get a database going with photo line-ups if you guys wanna add a ruler to your photos? Up to you guys. When I first started searching out mature tinies, I could never find useful information like this. It would be great to see if certain dolls would fit with my others. >.<

    2. I only have Mishi's doll Dreamy coming in soon, and a Littlefee, but I could post a comparison for them if anyone was interested?

      • x 1
    3. I didn't realize xagadoll has 2 type of male bodies. @Idoru how are they both compared to each other?

    4. @marxwyn They do indeed! I'm not sure I quite understand what comparison you're trying to ask for? They're both really nice and they pose equally well, etc. It's slightly easier to find clothes for the bigger one because he's similar in size to Obitsu 27cm Slim Male bodies/Ken/etc. And I think the sculpting detail on the smaller one is a little nicer personally.

      • x 1
    5. All my mature tinies are limited or discontinued but if somebody wanted, I could throw a photo here. I have:

Batchix Clever Littles (artist cast versions) seafoam & light purple glitter resin
Lume Blaze (muscle body) zombie skin
Lume Koit (slim body w/Soom Alk lower legs) NS
Soom Auber Storm Sprite grey skin (wears fairly feet as defaults)
Soom Boehm Smoke Sprite green skin (wears fairy feet as defaults)
Argonautica Little Kio translucent deep blue skin
      Akhmel Nathan black skin

And possibly Nassano, who is a Sugarble naga boy but whether you guys would consider him mature or not... I dunno.

      • x 3
    6. I for one would love to see them! Discontinued or not, I just like seeing them... :D

    7. Ok. I'll haul them out tomorrow and try to get some decent shots suitable or posting.

    8. Here's my guys. Excuse the crap-tastic lighting. It's currently raining where I live and the light is never the best in my apartment on sunny days so... The Batchix boys are also hairless as I need to make them some wigs and haven't gotten around to it yet.
[IMG]IMG_0544 by ID Locke, on Flickr
      Left to right are:
Sleet (Soom Auber Storm Sprite, grey skin)
Iwa-Xine (Soom Boem Smoke Sprite, green skin)
      Sondo (Akhmel Nathan, black)
Dolf (Lume Light Blaze, muscle body, zombie skin)
Gunari (Lume Light Koit, slim body, NS, w/Soom Alk lower legs)
Misu (OT Obitsu slim, WS, limited Kayura head)
Naicree (Argonautica Little Kio, deep translucent blue, male body)
Prasiolite & Rhodolite (Batchix Clever Little, artist cast, seafoam & light purple glitter resin)

The slight height difference between the Soom Fairies is purely due to the fairy feet. The height difference between the Lume boys is due to Gunari losing some lower leg length with the Soom Alk legs. Mods to make the Soom legs fit the Lume body were all done to the Soom parts. Gunari can wear his default legs just fine although he never does as that's not part of his character.

If anyone wants more pics of any of them, just ask.

    9. Ahhh these are great, thanks for sharing! You have such a cool bunch. * v *

    10. Thank you!

Iwa-Xine's wig is the perfect colour/style for him but it drives me nuts because it just doesn't seem to want to stay on his head. It's a Monique wig and he's got a silicone wig cap on under it but it still likes to pop off *sighs*. Anyone else have wig issues with their Soom Fairies?

    11. Is that translucent resin? I've never seen that before. The smoke sprite's feet are totally clear? and the three on the right are a little clear too. That's totally wild 8O

    12. Yes, Boehm has clear resin feet and wings. Auber has semi-translucent medium grey wings. Little Kio is translucent blue all the way through. The Batchix boys are opaque but there is glitter in their resin. It doesn't photograph well but is very noticeable in person. Prasiolite (seafoam) has silver glitter. Rhodolite (purple) has violet glitter.

OT for this thread, I also have an Impl Colourful Life Simon who has translucent green ears and hands. I tend to collect unusual sculpts.

    13. That blue Soom Juchy is a goddess!!!

@Iron_Dog I love every one of your dolls. They are all so unique! The Koit with Alk legs is an amazing mod. I would have never expected that to work. I'd love to see more fantasy and anthro mature tinies.

I took a quick comparison adding in MDR Mousse, and taking out Mishis Doll Dreamy

    14. I tend to have wig issues with my mature tinies. Since their heads are small, if a wig doesn't fit just right it pops off, falls off, or looks bad. Two of my Soom fairies, and two of my other mature tinies, have Monique brand wigs that fit well. One of my Soom fairies has her default wig, but it falls off pretty easily.

    15. Sleet's wig is one I made him so it fits pretty good. The wig Dolf (Lume Blaze) is wearing is a Monique and it fits him great. Poor Iwa-Xine's wig just wants to pop right of his head if you breath on it funny. I have Sleet's Soom default wig but it's even worse at popping off that size head. Getting it on is a pure struggle. And it's his fricken default wig from his full-set!

    16. I have a Soom Kremer and the only wig I have tried on him is the one I made for him (which fits perfectly), but finding a good professional company wig for mature tinies (especially boys) is the hardest thing ever!!!

      Leo,
Finding good quality mature tiny wigs has plagued me for years!!! I had a Notdoll Pandora back in 2011? She was my first mature tiny and I ended up selling her because the only wig I could find was a terrible, loose Glib bun wig or Parabox wigs with super heavy bangs and stiff fibers. Ive learned how to make wigs this year and now I cant stop making them.

I put a little super glue on the head cap to hold any stretchy cap wigs I have (silicon caps are difficult imo)

    17. Is it ok to talk about the Limwha Too You girls here? I'm picking up a Mari over the weekend from a local doll friend. :)

    18. Absolutely! Please do @opal !! I have a ToYou girl myself, they're so beautiful. ; v ; I love mine...!

    19. Yay, good to hear! I pick up Mari on Sunday. I'm excited! :)

    20. I picked up my Mishi's Doll Dreamy today x3. She doesn't have a name yet. She's wearing a Leekeworld wig that I could barely get to stay on her, but I stuck some stickytack/ eyeputty to her head and then put the wig on and it is holding really well now :) I'm going to take some better pictures of her tomorrow when it is light out. All I have right now is a ceiling light and it seems to cast quite the shadow on her. [IMG]

    21. My Batchix Clever Little came in and he is sooooo adorable!!!
He came with a pair of DreamingTree Studio eyes and I've since decided they are my favorite tiny eyes. They show up well in photos without even trying!!! I'm now getting all my tinies these types of eyes (they are so cheap too!)

editing in a pic of my Wood Elf!

    22. DTS makes great tiny eyes. Pretty much all my really small-eyed guys wear them. And while not super small, one of my shorter MSD guys who wears 8mm cat eyes wears DTS as well since nobody makes 8mm cat eyes in the colour I needed.

      • x 1
    23. Dreaming Tree Studio does custom orders, too! I've worked with her in the past for super specific designs and she was a delight to work with!

      • x 2
    24. Yep. The aforementioned 8mm cat eyes were custom and the eyes Sleet (Soom Auber Fairy) wears were custom at the time, although they are now a standard design. Dolf's (Lume Light Blaze) eyes are custom. I've also gotten some gorgeous eyes as free ones and a good portion of those have ended up in various dolls.

    25. Oh no. Just saw Asleep Eidolon has 3 new limited Elf/fairies :o
      Sylph is really cute

    26. OH NO... They ARE adorable!! I love them all...!

    27. Gah! I should not have looked!!!!!

      • x 1
    28. @opal same here! They are so adorably tempting. I'd even love their outfits just for my current girls.

    29. They really are just soooo cute... And have the Xagadoll body--I could finally have every mature tiny body they make! :v Haha!

    30. I agree with the rest of you! They are so tempting! And they have elf ears!

Does anyone know exaclty what they mean by "limited edition"? Is it a time period or a number? Not that I should be asking since I don't really have the money....

    31. I hope no one minds me butting in a little, but Oxana Geets is soon to make a pre-order for a mature tiny doll, in fashion doll size (27 cm). I know her littler one has been posted about in this thread before (well the original one), but I thought you guys might like to know about the new one!

Here's a picture of the new doll (Thel) next to her 18 cm doll:

Wasn't sure if you guys were aware but I'm pretty excited.

    32. I like the shape of her eyes and ears.

    33. Ahhh she's super cute! Thanks for sharing this @Monaudious I am indeed excited! Those ears are adorable!

    34. Does anyone have a roombox/dollhouse for their little ones? I'm hoarding my pennies to save up for my Argonautica Little Ifi, and I want some inspiration for her (eventual) dwelling in the mean time. Help me out, guys! :XD:

    35. Thel is glorious!! I love her face, hands, and petite bossom. I need to look this artist up now, thanks for sharing :)

    36. I have a bunch of furniture and props for my dolls, but I haven't created an actual room yet. ShairasLittleStars has some Rooms for sale for very cheap

    37. Oh Thel is so tempting... I hope she will be offered in a range of resin colors like the other Bardo Research dolls. Then I may fall prey, I would love a chocolate colored girl.

      • x 2
    38. Thel is now up for sale. Normal and fantasy colors.

      • x 1
    39. Thank you for posting! Is anyone else going to order? I guess I will get Milk Tan, I was hoping for a darker color. Pastel blue? :)

    40. My group lives in a metal and glass shelving unit from Ikea. I intend to eventually have it set up as four different "rooms". Here's the part the gang lives in right now-
      [IMG]Where We Live

BTW: Its a "VITTSJO" shelving unit.

    41. I picked up To You Mari on Sunday and I love her! She poses very well and stands with no problems. Seems I have a bunch of clothes that fit her, a mixture of Barbie, SparkleGirl and 2 Tiny Kitty outfits. I've ordered some wigs and shoes that I hope will work. I may have to learn to make her some heels. Now she just needs a pretty new face up. :)

    42. @vignoche I'm definitely going to order and was also hoping for a darker color than milky tan, haha. So now I'm a bit stumped and may just opt for the pastel mint.

    43. Thel is a cute girl! And I like fantasy colored dolls. Looking forwardto seeing yours Monaudious! I may go for one of the Asleep Eidolon elf girs myself... I didn't originally realize they have wings as well as elf ears.

    44. @Leo Pheonix I caved in and finally looked at the new Asleep Eidelon dolls (didn't want to because I was waiting on the pre-order for Thel), and good gravy, they're amazing. Thankfully they don't come in darker resins so I'm safe... for now. Which one do you have your eye on the most, Leo?

As a side note, I asked Oxana if she would consider any other resin colors and she hasn't said no and asked which color I had in mind. I'll let you know @vignoche if she says yes to the color I picked. Moist brown is the one I asked for, hopefully we have the same idea in mind about what shade of chocolate we wanted. :P

    45. @Monaudious I wonder if Oxana's 18cm tiny is similar to DZ's special body and Rosengarden's :D
@Leo Pheonix the fairies on AE website says until 20/05.
but I see that Dolk is now selling them too, until 18/05 (though I'm not sure if Dolk is recommended?)
though there is always legenddoll, which I believe has special arrangements with AE. that's why you can still getting the mermaids, or other limiteds, even though it is past the time limit.

    46. @vignoche Oxana has added moist brown to the color options now. ^^ Unfortunately it adds an extra $70 to the total, but if you were still interested, the option is there.

    47. Thanks! It is a bit more, but I feel like I could use the variety. Lovely of you to instigate :)

    48. Ugh I love bardo read Thel ! And now you tell me moist brown is an option oh no doooooooomed
I so do not have money for this right now but her face I just love.

I wish there were pictures of what the faceup might look like. I wonder if she’d look like a halfling to a fashion scaled 1/4 doll...I have a Creature Doll Phyllis that I wonder if they would look good together.

    49. @skyealloway I asked Bardo Research about the faceups and she said maybe she'd have examples later... I don't know if she'd allow you to buy it later? I got the faceup although I have no idea what it will look like as I figure I like their other faceups and then I don't have the extra hassle of finding an artist, packing and shipping the head back and forth and worrying about it.

    50. Considering how short the pre-order period is, I didn't wanna risk waiting til later for an example of a face-up, either. I did do a mock-up of her face in photoshop (as I usually do all my face-ups), but I might have opted to pay for the face-up if she had an example of it. >.<

And yes, she will likely look like a halfling in comparison to a 1/4 scale fashion doll. I have two mature tinies similar to her proportions and an MSD that's a stylized fashion scale and they certainly look like halflings to her. :P

    51. The curse of limiteds. They're often beautiful and special, but only available fo so long, so if you want one, you have to pay for it while its available, or try to get ot second hand at an increased price. And some dolls are low enough in populatity, like those of this scale, that they rarely show up second hand.

I'm mostly trying to justify the Asleep Eidolon Mini Elf Sylph to myself, not enable anyone else. Though I'm happy to encourage more people to get them!

    52. I looked up Creature Doll Phyllis, and It just occured to me that I'm likely using the term fashion doll incorrectly and that I did that earlier, too. I figured anything not looking like a child/tween was fashion-scaled. But it's really something realistically adult-proportioned, yeah? All my dolls are more "stylized", like in the middle of unrealistic/cartoon proportions and realism, I guess? So.. with that in mind, Thel is also technically not fashion doll because her head size is larger and she's also quite stylized. A doll like Little Ifi is more akin to a fashion scale doll. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, again.

I totally get what you mean, Leo. There are many older mature tiny dolls that you can pretty much not find at all these days. Sylph has a very sweet face. ^^

    53. The term 'fashion doll' can get a bit weirder than that, honestly! Often I see it used to mean dolls who are specifically meant to look good in clothes - when undressed they can look odd or unfinished, because their body was cast to show off an outfit and was never meant to be nude at all. No detailing, odd proportions, fewer joints, feet frozen in high-heel position with no alternatives, and so on. Like a plastic clothes-hanger with a fancy head. :XD:

      Fiddly, isn't it? Dolls! :sweat

      • x 1
    54. Oh ok thank you! I’m not sure the correct term for the very realistic 1/4, but I think dollmore and iplehouse versions are called fashion MSD so I was just thinking that’s what it’s called :sweat

Ugh I sat down to pay bills and review the budget and there is just no way :atremblin
I will live vicariously through y’all I suppose!

    55. I know the pain @skyealloway <:c sometime in the future, maybe we'll have the funds!

What I want to know is why there aren't as many mature tinies as there are baby tinies? Is it just harder to cast those smaller details? I keep looking for the right body for my character and everything I see is a baby-proportioned!

      • x 1
    56. I think the reason they're less common is the lower demand for dolls that aren't in scale with the more popular 1/4 and 1/3 dolls.
There are a few companies that offer them though. Argodoll has dolls this scale, and Dollmore has dolls as well as heads and bodies.

In regards to "fashion doll MSDs", there are several companies, including Iplehouse and Dollmore that make doll lines that are a different scale than most MSDs, with 4-5 size wigs and usually 6mm eyes. They are similar in scale to off-topic dolls like those from Tonner or Integrety Toys, hence the name. The BJDs of this scale I've seen on line are more like other BJDs in terms of detail.

    58. She's adorable, @Air_Dan! I love her outfit and her tiny boots. :)

    59. @Gallye , thank you! This outfit was made for takara blythe, but fits merrydollround well, too. And the boots was made as a custom order.
