Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 2

Dec 3, 2017

    1. Congratulations! What a lovely photo. ^-^

My girl is sitting in customs, apparently. With a delivery estimate of today. Will see if she magically shows up.

    2. I think the delivery estimate routine is overly optimistic lately! I have had that happen with a number of packages!

    3. Waiting on my light tan Abby ^^ she is almost here it looks like

    4. I never believe USPS delivery estimates (don't get me started on the mail innovations or smartpost/etc horror stories!). Just hoping she doesn't disappear into the black hole of customs. It's been two days since she arrived at the notorious NYC ISC facility, so now I'm biting my nails waiting for the status to change.

    6. I think you are right - are there plans to scale it down for the tinies, perhaps?

    7. Mine was sent as certified mail, I think. It was a different type to how I usually receive dolls (recommended/signature required), so I had to go to a special post office quite some distance away from my usual place. The postal service app didn't even update on the parcel, I just got a paper notice in my mailbox.

    8. Maskcat is working on a new double jointed with a torso joint 26 cm girl. It's confusing because she isn't labeling the pictures with the sizes. I'm pretty sure the dancer parts are for the 57 cm girl though.

      • x 1
    9. Please say it isn't so! I no longer collect that size.

    10. I asked on Instagram about ballet feet and hands for the 26cm body.

    11. My Abby is still in New York. The tracking estimate says Monday. I was really hoping she would arrive today, but she sat in Madrid for a while. Hopefully I won't have to wait until the end of next week to get her!! My small town post office has short hours. They open after I get to work, close before I leave and I work a half hour away with a half hour lunch. :( I can't wait!

    12. Oooh I'm so excited to see everyone's Abbys! And yeah, I've been following the new 26cm girl body--it doesn't have ballet feet as far as I know, that's the 60cm body! This is the WIP of the new girl body:

Maskcatdoll on Instagram: “This's how she looks now and the new 26cm line body will change to double jointed system not only her arms but body and knees. I wish you…”

Very pretty!! But no ballet feet to my knowledge. I think when it comes out I might need to get Inez...! I love my Feline but I do wish she had a bit better range of motion, so I'm eager to get the new body!

@Leo Pheonix Nooo why would they do this to me!! I would love Auber but I can't get anything doll-related for a while...

    13. The biggest turn-off for me about Maskcat dolls is the non-jointed body. With the new body I might just have to get one...

    14. If just the feet were available, I’d look at buying some for Aeron to hybrid. I love different hands and feet!

    15. I've been looking at Maskcat for a while and really like their face sculpts, so this new tiny will be interesting to see once complete.

    16. I'm so glad there is also a new 26cm body - I too may now be looking again at getting a Maskcat doll.

    17. Yeah, my Abby is still showing as "processed through" ISC NY, which could mean anything. Apparently, USPS may or may not track packages past this step. She could be in town, for all I know, or still in NYC. Also, our mailbox place has become unreliable, so I'm getting nervous about delivery being missed without notice. They didn't even open this Saturday, without telling the customers.

Packages coming through LA are never held up more than a day or so and even if they aren't tracked, they show up within a week after hitting the country. I've read horror stories about ISC NY, though. I'm getting super nervous.

I hope we all have good luck and our Abbys arrive safe and sound!

    18. I’m having the same problem where it says “processed through NYC” and she was supposed to be delivered today according to the estimate. But didn’t show up. I’m hoping it’s just not updating and will show up in the next day or two :pout: hopefully everyone’s Abby will show up soon. Good luck to you also!
I kind of wonder if they’re confused about all the Abby dolls with them. They probably don’t notice but it’s amusing to think about for me

    19. No change on my Abby's progress. It's been a week at ISC NY! Just had a package from Russia breeze through, no problem. Didn't even spend 24 hours at ISC NYC (sure, it took almost a month to get to NY, but at least it went right through, lol). That's making me especially nervous, since it shows that they actually update progress on packages, which probably means she's really just stuck in limbo. :...(

    20. Sometimes they update status and sometimes they don't. I just got a package from Russia and they only updated the status when it left New York. There was a nine day gap between the last update in Russia and leaving New York. I bet it was in New York most of that time!

      • x 1
    21. @ohsi My Abby finally had an update! She finally left jersey city distribution center. Yeesh! She was originally supposed to arrive Monday. That is seriously odd! They are normally fast with these types of packages.

      • x 2
    22. I'm hoping they just didn't update it and she's already left NY... one can hope, right?

@redmaiko Oh, gosh! That's good news! One step closer! XD

    23. I am so pleased that I am not the only one with this predicament about deciding on the gender. I painted Abby and he became Pip.....now I think I want a Pippa lol. Anyway, here is the Abby sculpt as a boy

    24. Eeeeee! My Abby is here! She is so cute. I especially love her ears!

@Saraht Congrats! This sculpt is so wonderful as both and your boy is adorable!:)

      • x 10
    25. So lucky! Congratulations! The ears are about 60% of why I ordered her, lol. So, so cute. It's wonderful to see a lilac in the wild! She is just perfect looking! :celebrate

Abby looks great as a boy, too. It's the nice thing about this sculpt, for sure.

Mine is still showing as being at ISC NY. I submitted a request as to her status, but I don't know if anyone will answer me. Status has been the same since July 10th! :pout:

    26. Oh, he's adorable! I agree, I might need another one too. (Or an Abbadon as a big BIG brother.)

    27. I'm loving seeing all the new Abbys!

Does anyone know if or how often Bardo Research re-releases their dolls? I'm itching to get my hands on a tan Thel.

    28. @ohsi
I so hope she starts moving again for you!!:eusa_pray

      • x 1
    29. I'm not sure about how often, but dolls are re-released, often in different resin colors than their first release. I've seen Sadhana and Deepti both re-released. You can email her and ask if she has plans for Thel.

    30. My Abby finally left ISC NY and is in NJ as of 2:30 am!

Strangely enough, the update ocurred after I sent a note to USPS asking what happened to my package.

Anyway, I can now relax, since I know she's out of ISC limbo and on her way. 14 days of torture! The next few days are just normal, excited waiting, now.

    31. @ohsi Yay!!! Glad she is on the way. That is the longest I have ever heard of a package sitting in ISC NY.*_*

      • x 1
    32. I had a little corset from Russia take over a month to get from Russia to New York! I think it really was in New York most of the time! The seller even offered me a refund but I said we should wait a bit longer and it finally appeared.

    33. I've had two or three days of tracking finally show up when the package arrived at my local PO. I don't know how USPS tracking systems works but sometimes it is very frustrating.

    34. @redmaiko This is the longest I've ever had a package held up! It's also one of the few I've ever had go through NY. Most of my packages come through LA, so it's never been an issue - not two weeks delay, at least!

I've usually had really good luck with packages once they hit stateside, so I was kind of losing my mind with the ISC NY hold up. USPS has the worst overall tracking, honestly (that includes the services that start at FedEx and UPS only to end up at USPS - those have the ultimate in frustrating tracking - mail innovations being the absolute worst service of all). At ISC NY, You can't figure out if it's customs holding your item or just the USPS facility side. LA ISC has much better tracking, in my experience. At least they tell you where your packages are - in customs and out.

The amount of relief when the tracking updated was insane. I read horror stories of packages disappearing into this particular facility for upwards of 3 months before showing up!

At least the worry is over now. It should take a few more days, but my Abby will be home soon.

    35. My overseas stuff usually comes through ISC NY and they generally are pretty quick but I've noticed this last month has been especially slow. I wonder if the new tariffs are slowing them down...

    36. My overseas orders always come through ISC NY and lately they are so quick it looks like they spend no more than a few minutes there. Sometimes it depends on the country you ordered from. I find that Korean orders are generally lightning quick. Dolls from Europe take longer, which I find bizarre because there are only 6 or 7 hours between Europe and New York, while Korea is 14 hours away.

If your packages are "disappearing" when they land in NY, it may be because the US Postal Service is not required to scan at every point. A Postal employee once told me that when they are extra busy they sometimes skip this step. Then the doll (or whatever) shows up unannounced.

    37. I find that packages from individuals take longer to clear than packages from know companies, especially coming through New York. .

    38. My Abby finally arrived! She's just perfectly sized and adorable. For tracking, she disappeared for all of last week until last night, when I suddenly started getting notifications that she'd be delivered today. For once, they were right!

      Meet Evie:

    39. What a cute girl you have @ohsi !

Soom has new versions of Verna and Auber up, as well as some of the previous Faerie Legend doll outfits. I would order Crow's but they're out of stock.:(

    40. I ordered Auber. I have been looking for a mini gem secondhand and haven't found one so this is great. I'm getting the human version to go with my group of Granado and Lumedoll boys. I think I'm addicted to the little guys now. I totally jumped from 60 to 30. I only have a couple of 1/4, special guys but I don't want more of those.

    41. oh wow, Auber looks different, is it all due to the face-up or is the sculpt a bit re-done too?

    42. @Leo Pheonix Thanks! I love her to bits. Just got some eyes for her and ordered a smaller wig. I'll post her unboxing when I get around to it. Need to take some more photos, too.

I'm really, really tempted to get Auber to be Evie's companion and then sculpt a new head. At least I have a few days to decide, lol.

    43. Auber really DOES look different in the re-release! I remember thinking he was pretty but not for me when he came out--I love this one though...!! Too bad I can't pick up any new dolls right now, he's a real cutie. Now, if Soom re-released Metato, that would be a different story entirely! (Come to me, my tiny elfy Dia...)

    44. @ohsi So glad she arrived safely!! She is beautiful!

    45. Everyone's Abbies are utterly gorgeous! I really hope there will be another opportunity to get our hands on Abby - I'd absolutely try to go for a tan one to turn into a little boy ♡

@ohsi Your Abby's skin tone looks so good with that wig! I really adore the lilac × green color combo. May I ask what wig size you went for? :)

    46. Thank you! I've been obsessed with the color combo for my character, Evie, for a while and when Abby was available in lilac, it was fate. I bought a 4-5 size Monique Gold Pixie from Facets Boutique. The 4-5 is a little big/loose, so I thought I'd try going down a to a 4, but it is so tiny it definitely doesn't fit! I don't know what I'll do with it yet (I'll probably try to exchange it). I'm trying a silicone wig cap in size 4 under the 4-5 and it does seem to work at keeping the wig on better.

    47. Thanks for the heads up! :) I haven't dealt with wigs in that size range yet so your advice is super handy! ^_^

      • x 1
    48. Finding good fitting wigs for these dolls can be a bit of a challenge! A lot of my dolls wear Monique wigs, and while some of them fit perfectly some don't. Silicone wig caps definitely help.
In my experience Trixie in size 4 is actually a 4-5, and while Frankie in black looks like a messy rock star style, the same wig in dark brown looks dreadful on anyone who's an adult or teen.
The ones I have that work well for my size 4 wig dolls are James, Pretty Girl, and Paris.

      • x 1
    49. You're welcome! It's my first time with the smaller wigs, too, so I thought it'd be helpful to share my findings. I'm sending the 4 back in exchange for another 4-5, so I can cut one and keep one almost the same.

The Monique wig is luxuriously soft and I wish there were other styles in the Jade Fairy color. There's a lime green in a few styles, but it's really harsh looking compared to the Jade. Most of the wigs are in "natural" colors, from what I can find.

    50. Does anyone know, besides Dollshe’s fashion mini pose plus bodies, are there any 1/6 male bodies with a joint at the base of the neck please? I need to find one for an off topic head with attached neck :)

    51. @psycholily I'm not sure if you're looking for just a body (which might be hard since I'm not sure how many 1/6 bjd makers sell bodies without the head), but Solar Wind Dolls' Constantin (@vitzly.putzly on Instagram) has a joint at the base of the neck, and again at the top.

    52. @ATBryant oh wow thank you, Constantin is gorgeous, unfortunately not suitable for my project but wow, I am sorely tempted anyway <3

    53. @psycholily Good luck finding one! I haven't seen too many otherwise. I do feel like Russia BJD artists usually have more joints, so maybe you could look in that direction?

      • x 1
    54. :o:love I didn't know Metato (tiny elfy Dia:drool) existed. I will definitely be on the look out for one.

    55. The human bodies on the Mini Gems are the same and just the heads change, correct?

As an aside, I think the frustrating thing about this size of doll is the shoes - I can't seem to find any that will fit and not look like toddler shoes. I've heard that Tiny Delf shoes will fit Abby, but I'm not thrilled with the selection on the Luts website. The only ones I like are sold out. I guess I'm going to have to go with either shoe-less or plan B.

    56. I get 1/6 action figure shoes. Just make sure they are hollow and not the peg type.

      • x 2
    57. Oh! I'll take some time for a search and see if there's anything good. Thank you!

    58. @ATBryant thanks! I’d get the Dollshe anyway but they apparently aren’t open for order at the moment and the email I received back from them was super confusing as to whether I’d be able to buy a couple of bodies in that size

    59. Check with BJDivas.com. They are authorized dealers and very helpful.

    60. Abby should fit Azone shoes @ohsi! Not all of them, but probably a good amount. (They're the same measurements but distributed differently!)
