Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 2

Dec 3, 2017

    1. @nancy_schroeder_ca - Thanks! I keep forgetting how small she is--for some reason I tend to think of her as being 41cm. I thought she might work with my Dollshe Fashion Grown Saint. Their faces aren't bad together but his feet are humongous next to hers.

@El BJD - I used a 2mm hook for the dress itself, trying to keep it loose and airy, and a 1.5mm hook for tidying up some uneven edges along the back seam. In the war between buying new BJDs and new anything else, it's the BJDs that usually win at my house. Hope you have better luck!

I doubt it, vermont chick, since I just saw the 2 upcoming Fairyland Realfee Dragons! :O

    3. @stellarphenomena - She's lovely! I find the mermaids very tempting, except that the tails make them so much taller--something like 45cm. I wonder how the seashell bra attaches?

@El BJD - Realfee Dragons? Oh no! My wallet is poised to turn and run the other way. Seriously, I hope I don't like them, because the number of dolls demanding that I buy them increases daily. Too bad my money doesn't increase proportionately.

    4. vermont chick: I got one of the 16cm AE mermaids and she came with the seashells. I didn't use them as they were so small and not worth using any kind of adhesive.

    5. I painted a Barbie scooter and I'm happy with it though it is still a WIP. I carved away the basket and left the rear seat so both the guys can ride on it. They are only being held up by the scooter's kickstand so that is a real big plus to me. Now to camouflage the Barbie logos. ;)

    6. I have been looking at the new AE dolls! That 32cm body is so lovely... and TALL!

    7. Great work on the scooter, @SteamWitch ! Getting rid of the distinct look of Barbie (and American Girl) paint jobs and logos is always a chore--but well worth the effort, as your scooter shows. I don't see any brush strokes, so you must have used either spray paint or an air brush. Now your guys can ride without feeling self-conscious about their wheels.

    8. Thank you @vermont chick. I used spray paint, getting everything not to be sprayed covered neatly with tape took a while but it was worth the effort. One tire did get a little mist but black paint will cover it neatly. They have been sitting in it since yesterday. I don't know if I'm lazy or they are just being boys with new toys, lol.

      • x 1
    9. Just being boys with new toys is my guess. Hope the paint was thoroughly dry before they sat down, or you'll have to call the one in front Mr. Goldbutt.

    10. LOL! Yes, it was thoroughly dry when I carved away the sides of the 'dog carry basket'. I'll need to touch up the paint on that part. I also cut off the Barbie handholds on the handlebars. Lucifer has to bend over quite a bit to rest his hands on the grips.

They need a new license plate too. Don't know if they need helmets since they just cruise around the beach area, besides it would give them helmet hair, lol.

    11. I finally uploaded a different browser and my Flickr now works, but they're apparently doing maintenance on the camera roll, so it took a while for me to figure out what now! Anyway, here's my Ancient Tales Elva in a dress I knitted for her, plus her lovely new shoes. :)

    12. Great dress @El BJD! I'm not familiar with Ancient Tales. What size is Elva? Not knowing the scale of your furniture it's hard to tell. I'm impressed by how well she stands.

      • x 1
    13. Thanks, vermont chick! Elva is 21 cm tall and can wear most Monster High clothes. AncientTales is on Etsy, another amazing Russian artist. She also has a 42 cm bjd.

I got these shoes at a thrift store a while back, so I'm not sure who they're for. She's wearing a Monster High outfit here.

    14. @El BJD - The shoes look like they might be for Monster High, too. They're cute.

    15. This black shoe won't easily slip onto my Monster High girl, and I don't want to force it. I think those clear ones fit though I'm not sure where they are right now. I've cleared up so I won't be tempted during garden season. Weeding calls! NOT

    16. My tiny Napoleon arrived today. He is gorgeous! I also ordered a pair of hands in bronze for my Lumedoll Kiran. They aren't quite the resin match I was hoping for but I love the way they look on him. I will be blushing them to match.

    17. I meant the clear shoes. I won't ask how you could misplace them because I do that, too--all the time. The black shoes don't look like the kind of thing Monster High does. They're a good fit, though.

    18. I have an Elva. I love these shoes on your girl. Where are they from?

I put mine in a pair of Azone boots, but I'd like a nice shoe like this for her.

The artist did an amazing job of sculpting her feet. They look so delicate imo

    19. She is lovely for sure! I got these black shoes on eBay. I'll send you the link shortly. :)

    22. I traded for a Granado Lucifer and he arrived yesterday. His hands and arms veins are magnificent.

He is so much beefier than my Soom Kremer. I kept thinking they would be the same size. I'll have to post a comparison pic later

Does anyone have any pictures of Captivated Dolls 32cm girl? I've tried to find other owner pictures of her and I can't find anything on Google, Flickr, instagram, or Facebook. I searched through the artist's ig feed and only found in progress pics of the the girl.

I thought maybe someone here might have one?

    23. Got my Granado Napoleon yesterday--and here's a quick comparison with two of my Xagadolls! I'll take some better pictures once he's painted and so on with more of my mature tinies.

    24. I found a prop for my gang at a local consignment shop today. Its a cabinet that came with two wooden bowls.

    25. So I have a Mini-Gem Uyoo (that I scored for a great price!), and I'm starting a layaway on another Soom Mini-Gem. Does anyone have tips for male Mini-Gem clothes? There isn't a ton as far as shoes/clothes for a male, though I'd *hopefully* assume that he fits into Ken clothes, since Soom guys tend to be thick-chested and hipped?

Any tips/information would be appreciated, especially shoes! I'm looking at 1/6 action figure clothes but I'm thinking the pants may be too large...

    26. @Leo Pheonix That's so cute! What a great find!

You should check out the Minigem thread @NekoMida! But I have a Minigem boy, and here's what I've discovered so far as far as clothing goes:
      • Ken clothes only kind of fit! Pants absolutely don't. In my experience they're often too short, and they don't fit well in the hips if they're not elastic-waist. Tops can work but sleeves will be short and it can be a weird fit in the chest and shoulders.
      • Ken shoes are a tight squeeze but fit; action figure/"soldier doll" shoes are a great fit.
      • In my opinion the best fit I've found for tops is Fashion Royalty homme-sized tops! FR pants are the right length but they're HUGE in the hips.
      • Obitsu 27cm Slim Male clothes (like from Parabox) are hit and miss as well. Length is usually the biggest issue.
Here's a picture of my boy in all Ken clothes from a fashion pack. I've scrunched the pants up here because they only come to his ankles:

And here's the full length of the pants:

      I hope this helps?

    27. @Idoru I have been looking at it, but there seems to be a lack of male things there. Lots of female options, but hardly any male! At least, from the pages I'd seen.

Thank you for the photos, those really help! Action figure clothing it is. :D Thankfully I saw a set I really liked, so I'll be investing in those in-between payments on my lil guy.

      • x 1
    28. @Idoru I was also wondering if you had any suggestions as far as the shoes go? I've been looking for lace up sneakers (and pants, seems like my old stretchy jeans will live again), but ebay's kind of funky about the types of shoes. Anything in particular that you really like for shoes?

I'm still looking through the mini-gem thread as well, to see if I can find some suggestions there too. I was going to ask how you did the tattoo on his chest? My gal needs her tattoos and I DID see a tutorial or two on youtube, from DIY hand-painting them on with watercolor pencils to a really interesting temporary tattoo-esque deal. I've done things like this on small-scale vinyl, but never on resin this tiny.

    29. Oh yeah! His tattoo was fun but hard... I probably shouldn't have started with something like a circle for my first try. I just did it the regular way, a watercolor pencil sketch and paint over top (I actually used watercolor gouache for it). I have been thinking about getting some printable water slide decal paper though so I can do it that way and get a cleaner shape.

As for shoes, I haven't found anything that I LOVE yet. My favorite have been a pair of boots made for Obitsu men that I bought from Parabox (that I can't find on their site anymore) but they're a real pain to get on and off because Obitsu have less foot and they don't zipper or anything. I generally try to buy shoes made of something flexible (or at least with bits that wiggle independently), vs the molded shoes like Ken has. The slit up the back of Ken shoes is helpful for wiggling fit though. I'm going to be getting some new shoes for my Granado boys and I'll try them on Sitri, my Rick, as well. I'll be sure to update this thread and the Minigem one when I do!

    30. My KKeRRin Alice arrived today. She's lovely, but OMG painting makeup on such a small face when you have cataracts is no walk in the park. I had hoped she could share clothes, wigs, etc. with Magic Mirror May but Alice is just that much larger than May that nothing fits her. The only thing she has at the moment is sandals that were too loose for May. I'm going to order a wig or two today. My size 3 wigs don't stay on her head. I think I need size 4.

    31. I have a pair of Vans made by Magic Cube that fit both my Soom men and Xagadoll Ken. I really like the quality and have another pair on pre-order from gijoeelite.com.

    32. Melian Dolls is accepting limited pre-orders this month, her dolls are very willowy and tiny (20cm, with 2mm eyes), if anyone is interested... I think Olga's sculpt is really elegant, especially for such a small doll.

    33. I think Red River Road dolls are on topic, so I wanted to share a guy I was lucky enough to get second hand. I was really excited to see him come up, because I remembered him from when the artist originally posted him on their instagram. He's really gorgeous work to see in person, I feel really lucky.

He's so petite and beautiful, I'm completely obsessed with him!

[IMG]IMG_2363 by Ella Tron, on Flickr

The freckles, the eyelashes, the skin blushing... I'm totally blown away by the artists talent! I need to improve my photography skills so I can capture him better.

    34. @ella_tron I've never heard of this doll creator before, I'm really digging what I see from their work, and your little man is quite fetching. I love it when noses have character!

    35. Oh man, I follow this artist on Instagram. They make lovely centaurs, too! :3
They put so much detail into every part of the doll, it's really impressive.

    36. My KKeRRin Alice is finally done. The size 4 wigs I ordered were too big; I went back to my size 3 wigs and made one of them fit. She has two crocheted dresses: this one is cotton, the other is wool (and it's finally too hot for her to wear it). She borrowed boots from my Magic Mirror May. And I bought her a fabulous prop: a Vespa scooter made for Barbie. It's a little big--so is the helmet--but Alice doesn't mind leaning far forward to reach the controls.

    37. Has anyone on here ordered a Rumpeldoll Abby? I am excitedly waiting on my shipping notice now.....

    38. I noticed several posts about pre-orders but haven't seen anyone ordering one except you, so far. So Congratulations @Saraht !!! :celebrate

    39. Thank you SteamWitch! I will share her here when she arrives. Hopefully there may be others who have bought her too :)

    40. Yes! My lilac Abby is on her way now! In fact, she's either in the export office or has just left en route to destination. I'm anxiously waiting for her to arrive home. I've prepared clothes, shoes, and a wig already, with extras racing her to my door. XD

    41. I have a Lilac Abby on the way now too!! I am so excited! :dance She will be my Fairyland Altis' partner in crime.

    42. I'm excited to see everyone's Abbys! I wanted one myself, but she was out of my budget at the time. Hopefully there will be another preorder when I can take advantage of it...!

On an unrelated note, I think I am overdue for a big ol' comparison photoshoot... I've added a Unoa Azurite and both of my Granado boys to my collection since the last one!

    45. Wow so this is where the fashion bjd size love is! I have a Maskcat Inez being made, hopefully coming home in one more month. I am also eyeballing Irrealdoll Enoki and may snag her in this Sunday's Preorder!

I really love MerryDollRound Nanaimo and am sad I may never get her. Her little face is so cute....

    47. @Geo-Earthling Inez is so sweet! You'll have to share pictures when you get her!

I'm still waiting for my Dollshe Hound....

    48. I hear you, @Leo Pheonix. I keep a list of things I have on order, and I have a little note above my Dollshe Bernard purchase: 'ordered September'. Soon I'll have to go add '2018' to that. :XD:

    49. I'm still waiting for my LE Aquamarine Dango from Feb. It hasn't been 6 months yet so I'm not too worried or bothered.
And yea with dollshe you never know some people get their dolls in 3 months, some have been waiting 2 years for fashion sized Diana and the dolls based on actors dollshe sold. I'm waiting on a fashion sized Amanda myself (ordered a year and a month ago.) I do hope these smaller dolls will come faster than other new dolls.

    50. My Rumpeldoll Abby arrived today and I think she may be a he (or maybe genderless) called Delwyn.
I ordered a wig, so I'm waiting for that until I know for certain.
They are an old soul, that is for certain.

    51. I just found Soom's Doll of the Month calendar with Mini Gem dolls Auber and Verna to make a re appearance on the 25th of this month. Not that I need any more Soom Fairies...

    52. So...I actually checked MaskCatDoll's instagram and saw they are currently making a new 26cm double jointed body with ballet feet...So I asked ACBJD if I could get my doll on it and Maskcat gave the okay. However, no release date yet! So I now don't have a clue when my Inez will come but it's worth it!!! Attached is body in the works:

    53. @Geo-Earthling - That's a very pretty body. Maybe by the time they release it I'll have money again. One can only hope.

I wonder what they plan to do for shoes? One foot looks like a ballet foot while the other looks like it could wear a stiletto heel. Or maybe she'll have to go barefoot.

      • x 1
    54. I think those are both ballet feet. I am hoping for 4 pairs of feet pointed ballet feet, tip-toe ballet feet, flat feet and heels!

      • x 2
    55. That is definitely a pretty body! I have been holding off on getting a small Maskcat doll as I was unsure about the hands, but the hands on this body look much more in proportion. I shall be watching developments with interest...

    56. I think that picture is of the new 1/3 scale body.
